campaign and russia leading up to the election. and trump's insistence that then-president obama ordered the wiretapping of trump tower. confirmation hearings set to begin for president trump's supreme court nominee. neil gorsuch will have an opening statement before testifying before lawmakers. if confirmed, he would be the youngest justice on the court. a pair of upsets in the ncaa tournament. the south carolina gamecocks shocked the duke blue devils. the final in that one, 88-81. they're headed to the sweet 16 for the first time since the tournament expanded to 64 teams. the gamecocks will face baylor friday night here in new york city. and let's not forget about michigan. the wolverines' magical run is not over yet. they beat the number two seed, louisville cardinals, 73-69. they play oregon. they also won on sunday. now, to the story behind some dramatic video that we showed you last week. a kidnapping victim in alabama,

forced into the trunk of her own car, who makes a daring leap to freedom. this morning, she is speaking out for the first time about that ordeal. nbc's kerry sanders has her story. hi, kerry. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. 25-year-old nursing student b t brittany decision was abdublgted outside of her apartment. her abductor stuffed her into the trunk of the car. fortunately, there was a law passed in the year 2000 that says there has to be a release inside the trunk that will allow the trunk to be opened from the inside. well, she found that in the darkness, was able to pull it and jumped out. and her dramatic escape from the moving car was all captured on a video camera here at the gas station. the unbelievable escape of a terrified woman, rolling out of the trunk of a moving car. all captured on video. that woman, 25-year-old brittany digs, freeing from her suspected

kidnapper, threatening to kill her. the suspect grabbed her outside of her home, forcing her into her own car. >> well, since you don't have any money, you're going to help me get money. so, he made me drive him to another side of town. he tried to rob two other couples. >> reporter: when that wasn't working, he made her pull over. >> i kept telling him, i'm a broke college student. i don't have anything. he's like, let's pop your trunk. looked in the trunk. there's nothing there. now, get in the trunk. >> reporter: back in the car, he found her wallet. give me your p.i.n. number or i'm going to kill you. >> reporter: after multiple failed attempts at the atm, his last threat, at the last gas station. >> if this don't work, i'm going to kill you. >> reporter: panic was setting in. >> i'm going the drown you and nobody's going to know i'm in this trunk. >> she came up with a plan. >> i'm thinking, i have a trunk

latch. i remember the video on facebook. i got the bright idea to use my insulin pump latch. i'm waiting for him to get back in the car. he's gets in, he's yelling. he's pulling out faster than i thought he was. popped the trunk, popped the latch. and i step out, instead of rolling out. >> reporter: frantic, she ran into the gas station and hid while the owner called police. this morning, her alleged kidnapper still at large. this photo put out by police is all there is to go on. brittany says until he's caught, her nightmare will not end. >> i try to put it in the back of my head so i can just, you know, get through the day. but that was, like, the scariest thing i ever had to deal with. it was a lot because i'm not from here. i don't have a support system down here, besides my roommate. i just felt like it was a lot. >> reporter: brittany diggs
