moved quickly. >> we could see him and see that he was conscious but we could see he was in a very difficult to access location. >> reporter: a 14-year-old boy somehow ended up 40 feet down from this wall. someone called 9/11 and firefighters at the closest station put on these dry suits and quickly got into the water and brought the boy blankets. >> he was talking. we don't have any information at this point as far as from him. >> reporter: firefighters still don't know how he ended up in the river. they'd hoist him up to safety. wilmington firefighters trained for swagsz like this. once they got the boy up to the bridge leave, they immediately put him in an ambulance. we're told the boy's going to be okay. he was taken to the hospital for children. police are still investigating how he ended up down there. from being in this area, living around here, some days it's high and fast. today it's low and slow.

it's cold. >> definitely dangerous. a lost going on in washington today right off the top the fbi today is confirming it is investigating whether the trump campaign colluded with russia to interfere with the elections. >> fbi director made that extraordinary public declaration before house intelligence committee this morning. the director added there is no time table for the investigation. this is the first official public confirmation that the fbi is officially investigating russia and the 2016 election after months of speculation. lauren mayk was the only local reporter inside that hearing today. >> she's joining us live from capitol hill. we know you just spoke to the chairman. what did he have to say? >> reporter: that's right. now the chairman of the committee wrapped things up today by saying there is now a cloud over people who have important work to do. the director of the fbi did make that acknowledgement today about the investigation. he wouldn't talk about any

specific people, wouldn't answer questions about specific individuals and what involvement they may or may not have. now the chairman says that causes problems and so he wants things wrapped up after that big revelation today. it was clear from the very beginning that this was no ordinary hearing. >> our practice is not to confirm existence of ongoing investigations. >> reporter: but today would be different. what the fbi director telling house intelligence committee members. >> the fbi as part of our counter intelligence mission is investigating the russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. and that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the trump campaign and the russian government. >> reporter: the revelation confirmed an investigation that fbi director james comey says started in july. taking questions for hours, the fbi director and the director of

the national security agency often told lawmakers they were inquiries they could not answer like in this exchange. >> i'm not going to confirm that there was such a confirm that i might confirm something that was in the newspaper. >> can you tell us who was in the room whether or not there was a conversation? >> i'm not confirming there was a conversation. >> director comey did answer a question that's been hanging over washington since the president tweeted a claim his predecessor had his wiretaps. >> i have no information that supports those tweets. >> actions by russia in the 2016 u.s. election. >> they engaged in a multi-faceted campaign of active measures to undermine our democracy and hurt one of the candidates. >> reporter: the committee's chair asked whether russian changed votes total in states including pennsylvania. >> you have no intelligence that suggests or evidence that suggests any votes were changed. >> i have nothing generated by the national security

information, sir. >> reporter: now as you saw there are each of the committee members were able to ask questions of the two witnesses today. they were on different topics. they each came in with specific things they wanted to hear about someone were pressing them on the leaks of classified information. that was another thing that director comey and rodgers really weren't able to get too much in to today. coming up at 5:00 we're going to hear what a local lawmaker from new jersey asked at the hearing today. for now, we're live in washington, d.c. i'm lauren mayk, nbc10 news. >> around 1:00 this afternoon, hours after comey confirmed the fbi is investigating russia's involvement in the election, president trump tweeted the nsa and fbi tell congress that russia did not influence the electoral process. that contradicts what comey said during his testimony. trump's tweet refers to the

actual vote count. also this afternoon white houseson spicer down played the news from the much anticipated testimony. >> following his testimony it's clear that nothing is changed. senior obama intelligence officials have gone on record to confirm there is no evidence of a trump/russia collusion. spicer also said people are trying to jump to a conclusion even though says there's no evidence there was collusion between the trump campaign and the russians. >> the first day of spring arrived with such sunny skies: there is still snow on the grounds. nbc10 news university city where we found a dad and son kicking around the soccer ball and some left over mounds of snow. we talked to a student that tells us his elated spring is finally here. >> i woke up, i felt better and

city. we haven't seen temperatures like that for a while. it's going to go even higher tomorrow, up near 58, but then look. back down and back way down. that's a 20 degrees drop between tuesday and wednesday and with the wind it's going to feel like a 30 degree drop, so don't get too used to the warmer weather that we're getting in here. for tonight, the clouds are increasing, that will prevent the temperature from dropping very much so by morning 41 degrees is not very cold. pa suburbs 57, lehigh valley 37 degrees. so no freezover tonight. we're not seeing any temperatures down to the freezing point and that's going to put us off at a pretty warm start for tomorrow. the other thing we're watching is rain to the west. that's a pretty nice system there but it's headed straight south toward cincinnati and not in our area.

quicker. >> reporter: then the reaeks when you tell them those lanes are closed. >> that's a hassle. >> that's annoying. >> reporter: not all drivers we talked to today knew about the three week closer of the high speed lanes. >> this is going to become a disaster out here. >> the other ez-pass lanes are still open so it will save me some time better than paying mainly. >> reporter: the ez-pass lanes are open and tells drivers the high speed lanes closure won't have them seeking alternate routes. have the ability to travel how many travel plazas operate based on the volume of cars and they'll be able to get any back logged down. workers have started to replace the outdated computer system already. those high speed lanes will be open again in three weeks. >> three weeks, it'll go quickly, hopefully it will be done in three weeks. >> reporter: and the turnpike is

saying that these high speed lanes will be open on april 10th. what about if you get yourself stuck in a cash only lane? don't worry. even though the ez-pass transponder may not work, they do take credit cards. reporting live, nbc10 news, deanna durante. >> take a look at this from skyforce10 over the seen of a tractor-trailer accident in montgomery county happened just before two this afternoon in northeast extension. you can see that tractor-trailer flipped on its side. war chester township after it went down the turnpike, slid down that embankment. no one was hurt. >> about one million dollars in jewelry was stolen from a story. skyforce10 flew over the storm and this right here, look at that, that's how the burglars got inside. looks like someone cut a hole right through the roof. we're checking with police and the store to see if there's any surveillance video from inside.

care. >> this afternoon jury selections underway in a trial involving former president and his connection to sandusky. he's facing several charges. prosecutors say he put children at risk with how he handled complaints about jerry sandusky more than 15 years ago. two other administrators already pleaded guilty to child endangerment. they could testify against they're old boss. >> new details this afternoon about a philadelphia police officer who lost consciousness after being thrown to the ground by a teenager. police are now telling us that officer was off duty when he tried to arrest someone at 4:00 this morning. that officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. firefighters in wilmington do not have death benefits if they die on the job. state leaders just trying to change that. today wilmington with firefighters standing behind

them, state and civic leaders senate bill 7, that bill is honor of lieutenant christopher leech, and all three died in an arson last september. it wasn't until after they died that people noticed there were no benefits for their families. >> i've known artie hope firefighter very -- a long time and that you would get a nursing degree. she has three kids, so a lot of these things will help them to go on and be able to be secure in their lives. >> a woman accused of setting the deadly fire is facing murder charges. >> in a couple of hours you can weigh in on medical marijuana in bethlehem township. the meeting starts at 7:00 in the municipal building. it's about zoning specifically where growers could set up shop. pennsylvania legalized medical marijuana last year. the program is expected to be fully implemented by next year. >> new jersey senator bob menendez will have a federal trial this fall.

hikers or campers in the area. >> a super bowl mystery solved. >> yes. two missing tom brady jerseys were tracked down. they were found today. listen to this, fbi agents actually found a second missing tom brady super bowl injury that we didn't know about the most recent one disappeared moments after the patriots beat the falcons in this year's super bowl. they tracked that to mexico. they also found brady's winning jersey from super bowl xlix. they believe it was stolen by the international media and pawned outside the u.s. bill cosby's lawyer want to prescreen potential jrz so they can weed out people with opinions about the case. worldwide coverage of the case makes it likely that people have already formed an opinion. cosby is accused of drugging and molesting inside his home in 2004.

wind at 10 miles an hour. we have temperatures ranging from the 40s to the 50s. partly depending on how much cloud cover is around the area. 41 degree ocean and that is going to play a role in temperatures as we head toward the weekend. right now the wind is a land breeze, a west wind so we're into the 50s in most places even at the beaches, avalon, 55, ocean city 54, ventnor's at 48, cape may point is at 48 degrees. so a little cooler at the beaches but not a lot. here's where we go with the temperatures. tomorrow it's going to be warmer. we're going up. wednesday and thursday, we're going down. we're going down quite a bit. the temperatures going down 20 degrees is going to feel like 30 degrees colder. and then we warm right back up again by friday and saturday. by saturday we could be 70

degrees. nothing on the winter radar close by. this looks pretty impressive. a few hours ago but not any more so we could say there's a slight chance of a sprinkle overnight or into the tomorrow, but that area of rain certainly looks like it's not coming this way. i have tomorrow generally just mostly cloudy, temperatures above average finally. tacony at 58, reading at 53, easton and 52 degrees. robbinsvile 56, long port at 57. it's going to allow the beaches to get a little bit warmer, the wind and then it's going to cool down as we go to wednesday and thursday as you saw. hour by hour watch what happens here as we go through the night tonight. it's not really cooling down very much and by tomorrow

afternoon temperatures going well into the 50s throughout the area, little bit cooler with a sea breeze at the shore and watch what happens during the day wednesday. that's in the middle of the afternoon. it's only in the 30s and windy. that is cold and then we're down into the 20s even by 11:00 wednesday night. so don't put the winter coats away just yet because we have those colder temperatures, but it's going to warm back up. friday 56, saturday 70 and then look what happens. it goes back down not only does the temperature plunge on sunday but we get rain and it's going to be windy. take your pick of the weekend days, jim. >> i pick saturday. face-off for their rights. >> the u.s. women's hockey team comes to philadelphia to fight for equal pay. the case the players are making

face-off over equal pay. >> womens of the hockey team are here to argue for the same benefits and wages as the men's team. >> any new information from the negotiating table. >> reporter: despite a lunch break this afternoon there's been no significant agreement. any truth between u.s. hockey and these females and without one they may not lace up their skates and show up for their first practice tomorrow. meantime people who are listening to this and going to and from work here in center city they are anxious for some type of outcome. this is much more than just what's happening on the ice. they have passion, heart, sam na and determination. the female athletes on the womens ice hockey team squared off for increased wages, child care and naernt leave. >> i think it's exciting that it's here in philadelphia. it's where the nation was born.

the lighter colors, but we don't even have that. the closest rain is in ohio. this area was weakening. this area down towards cincinnati, that's pretty strong but not headed in this direction. right now we're seeing temperatures in the 50s but it is 45 in reading, 47 in allentown, 48 in lancaster and pottstown. 38 in mount pocono so some places are still getting that bit of a chill, but they're all going to warm up as we go into the day tomorrow. so we were 42 for the high ton saturday, 50 sunday, 54 today, 58 tomorrow and then the plunge, 20 degrees with the temperature and it's going to be windy on wednesday too. so it'll feel probably more like 38, 39 degrees. that will be like a 30 degrees drop in just one day. as we go into the morning hours,

we're going to be seeing a lot of clouds around, but no precipitation for the most part, just a slight chance of a sprinkle and temperatures above freezing everywhere so we're not expecting a refreeze during the night tonight so whatever looks wet when you go to bed, it's going to be wet when you get up in the morning too. i'll let you know when the colder air will be returning with the rest of the forecast coming up. >> skyforce10 right now over some breaking news involving some garbage truck stuck in a hole. tell us what's going on here. >> reporter: we're north philly, this is north war nox street just a couple blocks from temple hospital. a city trash truck stuck in what appears to be a small sinkhole but it appears to have busted at least two of the tires. you can see that truck is leaning a little bit. at this point traffic has been able to pass.

>> announcer: this is nbc10 news. a waiter at a southern california restaurant was fired after customers say they were asked to show proof of residency before they were served. a group of customers at the st. marc restaurant say the waiter asked them to prove they're in the country legally before he would serve their drinks. the patrons told the manager but they declined and left. one of the customers says it's a bad precedent to set. >> i feel like this is something that a -- any time you go to a restaurant they're going to be asking us for proof of residency to inspire panic. >> the restaurant said the waiters actions were inappropriate and they let him go. >> a woman was kidnapped and stuffed in her trunk by a kidnapper. >> her amazing escape caught on camera. you're going to see as she's
