see the moment that brought him to tears. lights, camera, action, the ellen show had fans flocking to center city. we've got your backstage pass. nbc 10 news starts now. right now at 11:00, the final countdown. it is going to be a late night on capitol hill. supporters of the new health care law are fighting for every last vote. good evening. i'm jacqueline london. >> with just hours until the house vote, the republican bill is on life support thanks to some of the party's own members. pennsylvania congressman announced he will vote no on the bill. at least 27 other republicans are planning to do the same. if that holds up, the bill with not pass. >> drew smith is following the story. opponents are not declaring victory just yet. they're planning more protests in the morning.

>> reporter: local opposition will continue first thing at the morning in city hall. tonight in one south jersey district that went for obama twice before changing over to president trump last year, there's a republican representative who says he's a no vote. outrage outside a new jersey congressman's district office in burlington county. >> he sent to washington, d.c. to take care of, you know, people in his district. >> reporter: they had hoped to persuade republican stomach artha -- tom macarthur to vote no. but another republican representing coastal south jersey counties came out against the plan tonight. this bill does not meet the standards of what was promised. it is not as good as or better than what we currently have. some of these activists met with him earlier.

>> and he's been really considerate of the problems and the issues around particularly the medicaid expansion. >> reporter: it remains unclear if house leadership will have the votes to advance the bill, but the white house says there's no backup plan. >> there's plan a and plan a. we're going to get this done. >> reporter: no matter what happens in congress tomorrow, this will remain a divisive issue. >> maybe they could have fixed it if they had worked harder. >> reporter: it will be certainly a busy overnight down there in washington, d.c. but you will see more rallies and protests here that are planned for tomorrow locally. live in center city, drew smith. overseas tonight the bright lights of the eiffel tower are dark. five people were killed in the attack near parliament.

40 were hurt. the suspect plowed a car into people walking. he then stabbed a police officer to death just inside the gates to parliament. british prime minister theresa macon democry condemned the act. >> we will all move forward together, never giving in to terror and never allowing voices of hate and evil to drive us apart. >> the attacker has not yet been identified. he's a man who will never be forgotten by philly's fans and players. many are mourning the passing of former manager dallas green. green managed the phillys to the organization's first ever world series title back in 1980. he had reportedly been suffering from kidney disease. green wasle 82 years old. back in 2011 green's 9-year-old

granddaughter was one of six people killed in a shooting that injured gabby giffords in arizona. much more on green's passing coming up in sports, including reaction from former phillys players. the roller coaster continues. nbc 10 on opening night of the spring season kickball league in south philadelphia. it looked like winter league from the way everyone was bundled up. >> those winter temps are going to feel even worse tomorrow. >> the temperatures continue to go down, but at least the wind is tapering off a little bit. those turbines at link turning not quite as much as what we saw earlier in the day. the temperature now down to 30 degrees in philadelphia, 24 in allentown, 25 in trenton. and it feels like it's 16 in allentown, 17 in trenton and mt.

holly and atlantic city. 18 degrees in philadelphia. even at this hour. but the wind is now less than 10 miles an hour. we had gusts up to 40 miles an hour and higher during the day today. so that's some improvement. and that means that the feels like temperature isn't going to change a whole lot for the rest of the night. so when you get up, it's going to feel like the teens. and it's not going to warm up a whole lot either tomorrow. but at least it won't be as much wind. when it will warm up with some more big changes coming in the weather in just a few minutes. mixed emotions on capitol hill tonight. this after the chairman of the house intelligence committee personally briefed president trump at the white house about apparent incidental surveillance reports. for three months between the election and inauguration, reports show president trump and his transition team were part of an incidental collection and

dissemination of intelligence, shared by many surveillance agencies. this just obtained by the republican chairman of the house intelligence committee, who says the finding is alarming. >> what i've read seems to me to be some level of surveillance activity, perhaps legal, but i don't know that it's right and i don't know that the american people would be comfortable. >> none of the surveillance was related to russia. >> representative nunez says president trump and his staff were not targets of the surveillance. this discovery was shared with the president and the press before being shared with the committee. something that did not sit well with the committee's ranking democratic member, adam schiff. >> unfortunately i think the actions of today throw great doubt into the ability of both the chairman and the committee to conduct the investigation the way it ought to be conducted. >> where there is agreement between the two, there's still no evidence to support the president's claim of wiretapping

by the obama administration. still, the president says he feels somewhat vindicated. >> i must tell you i somewhat do. i very much appreciated the fact that they found what they found. >> and as the investigation continues, more information is being requested by the fbi, the nsa and cia. a packed house filled the lehigh county government center in allentown tonight. reason, the county's sanctuary status. the lehigh valley tea party argued that immigration could lead to the loss of federal funding. those in favor of keeping the sanctuary status say they are contributing members of the community. the county's sanctuary status will remain intact. still unclear tonight what killed twin 7 month old babies. the babies' mother called 911, saying they were unresponsive in their crib. the baby girls were born three

months premature. that source says the infant deaths do not appear to be suspicious or a homicide. for the first time, philadelphia district attorney seth williams sat in a courtroom as the defendant today. williams pleaded not guilty to nearly two dozen bribery and extortion charges. williams' lawyer says his client is innocent. a 12-year-old northtown boy who died trying to save his dad from a fire will be honored for his bravery. he ran back into his house to try to save his father from the fire back in february of last year. harling did not realize his father had already jumped to safety from his third story window. harling will be awarded a national honor from the carnegie hero fund commission. a pair of civil rights organizations commended the cherry hill school district for its handling of a recent high school musical controversy.

you'll recall cherry hill east's production of ragtime made headlines because of racial slurs in the script. the district worked with the anti-defamation league to highlight how the show can spark a meaning full conversation about racism. one last day on the hot seat for supreme court nominee neil gorsuch. >> two marathon days of questioning by the senate judiciary committee produced a bit of laughter in the chamber today. >> no one remembers who john hancock was, but they know that's a signature because he wrote his name so bigly -- big and boldly. >> you just said bigly. [ laughter ]. >> and i just won five bucks. >> the word bigly caught fire as president trump campaigned for the white house last year. mr. trump later said he was actually saying big league.

video breaking up a fight between two teenagers. atlantic still council honored him along with the two boys he stopped from throwing fists. now millions of people have watched and shared this video on social media. you see the teenagers here in a scuffle. then ali steps in right there to break it up. he refused to leave until the boys shook hands. tonight the father of five took time to praise the parents of the two boys who were fighting. >> they raised them to be young men of reason, which seems to be a very, very rare trick in our today's youth. >> at one point ali fought back tears when thanking his own mother for raising him to be the man he is today. ellen! >> they were shouting her name in philadelphia today. take a look at the crowd that shut down walnut street, all thanks to ellen degeneres. >> philadelphia came out strong.

the talk show host used twitter to draw her fans to center city. tonight nbc 10 is taking you behind the scenes. here's keith jones with your backstage pass. >> this is left over from ellen's wild party here on walnut street. i just got the inside skinny. come with me. people packed the pavement, one of ellen's biggest crowds. cameras were crowded. and oh, the costumes. police officers, wayne's world, an eagle. tall skeletons. >> if anybody's looking for skin care products, i have a lot left over that i do not need. >> we even spotted pregnant fiancee and this dude in ellen underwe underwear. >> we are sofia, grace and rosie. they've been on the show a bunch of times.

long at this time of the year. traffic's moving fine. it will be moving fine in the morning. but you're going to need to prepare for winter temperatures. it's already down to 30 in philadelphia, 24 in allentown, 25 in pottstown and trenton. even 28 in atlantic city. i mean, it's kind of ridiculous. in some places it's even colder than that. north wales, elroy, 25. the feels like temperatures going even lower into the teens. by 10:00 a.m. it's still going to feel pretty cold out there. even by afternoon, it's only going to be feeling like it's in the 30s. the average high temperature this time of year is in the mid

50s. there's nothing on radar close by. we have a weak system moving into wisconsin. that's what we're going to be tracking friday morning. no problems with the weather other than the cold tomorrow. winds 5-10 miles per hour. 44 degrees in fairmont after that chilly start. at least there's less wind. rehoboth beach at 44 degrees as well. that system coming from the west is going to race down in our direction thursday night and into friday morning. this is the latest commutputer model just out showing a little area of light snow or maybe a little bit of freezing rain into the lehigh valley and poconos, briefly on friday morning. we're not talking about any kind of serious issue there, but there we are. that's why we do neighborhood weather, because some places are going to get it and others

some wild rides on display in south jersey. nbc 10 in williamstown tonight where more than 100 students took part in this science exhibit at saint mary's catholic school. no erupting volcanos here. the school's 8th graders created roller coasters and ferris wheels. teacher barry white jr. shot to social media stardom showing his personalized handshakes with
