second. here it is. flames devouring it. no injuries to report here, just some added delays on an already busy schuylkill expressway. to our other breaking news, it was supposed to be judgment day on capitol hill. late this afternoon the vote on the healthcare bill was delayed until tomorrow. this is a live look on capitol hill right now. that vote supposed to be just two hours from now. it's 7:00, but in the last 90 minutes, nbc news learned the vote will not happen tonight. >> across the delaware valley, people have been protesting, nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal caught up with some of them in allentown. >> reporter: self-employed, the owner of the bear swamp diner, sheryl benner was able to get health insurance under the affordable care act. >> my healthcare dropped. it dropped about $140 a month. >> reporter: even though she saved money, she says it hasn't been perfect. costs are rising plus fines if you don't enroll. she voted for president donald

trump and wants to see his healthcare plan pass congress. >> i'm behind him, see what he does, see what happens, i can't say anything negative until i see what happens. >> reporter: today the trump bill is in jeopardy. the big vote suddenly delayed as opponents ramp up their efforts to shut it down. in allentown, outside republican congressman charlie dent's office, constituents demanded he save the affordable care act. >> it's not for the aca we wouldn't have health insurance sdp. >> reporter: they met with his staffers who said he is voting no. another setback for president trump. >> he's expressed his concerns about it to the president and to the speaker and house leadership. >> that was very welcome news for us. and we want to thank the congressman for that. >> reporter: dent says he's concerned millions could lose coverage under the prutrump pla. increasing costs for older americans. his office says he will vote no but it's unclear when a vote

might take place. nbc 10 news. delaware county, neighbors converged on republican congressman office in springfield making it clear they do not want a new healthcare bill. protesters hoisted signs on the side of the road showing their support for obamacare. four republican congressmen from pennsylvania are opposed to the healthcare bill, dent, fitzpatrick, perry and thompson have said they are against it. it's a busy night in washington. nbc's senior political editor, mark murray joins us live from our nation's coupapital. >> what does this really mean? >> it means that the republicans, including house speaker paul ryan and president trump didn't have the votes. and that's the reason why -- when you end up controlling a chamber like the house of representatives and you have to postpone you vote, you have to postpone today's press conferences means the votes

weren't there. this doesn't mean that this has ended. you shouldn't read the last rites to this legislative effort. there still is a chance they might be able to wrangle extra votes, twist some arms. right now, the legislation is in a critical condition, if not on life support. it's very difficult to pass legislation once something has actually been postponed because you don't have the votes. every hour, every day that goes by ends up increasing any type of -- really hurting a chance for momentum to be able to pass something. >> what are the larger implications here of tonight's decision not to vote? >> you still have a divided republican party. even though they end up controlling the white house, they control capitol hill. there still is a struggle inside the gop between conservatives who think the legislation to repeal and replace obamacare doesn't go far enough. and then there are people who says it goes too far along the

moderates, including the republican representatives in your area who are against it. they think this goes way too far. you have conservatives who think it doesn't go far enough. that is one of the things that have gone on with republicans. the other, is it's so hard to reform healthcare which affects one fifth of the nation's economy. barack obama even though he was successful ended up paying a political price for it. >> all right, nbc political editor, mark murray, thank you so much for your time. >> thank you. president barack obama is celebrating the seventh anniversary of his landmark healthcare law. in a statement today he said quote, america is stronger because of the affordable care act. mr. obama also encouraged bipartisanship, he said if republicans are serious about lowering costs and expanding coverage and are prepared to work with democrats, that's something, quote, we should all

welcome. stay with nbc 10 and nightly news with lester holt for the latest on the decision to delay the healthcare vote. we have new details about this fight inside a septa station. >> septa police arrested ten students at ben franklin high school. we showed you the video last week on nbc news at 11:00. tim furlong has more on the break in this case. >> reporter: a week ago, we showed you this video of kids attacking other kids at the racevine septa station. we met one of the victims. >> when you're getting jumps you have to stay calm and cover your face. >> reporter: through video and ip tips, seven boys were identified in the attack. the students didn't make it easy. >> when we visited benjamin frank franklin high school, somebody set off the fire alarm. >> reporter: after a foot chase, they got the tenth kid who tried to escape in north philly. all these teenagers will be charged with felonies, robbery

and aggravated asalt. septa says these attacks are getting more and more common. >> this is happening all over the city. this isn't a septa problem, this is a philadelphia problem with our youth. >> reporter: last night a group of girls met at the 46th and market station to continue a fight that started in school. police say a 13-year-old was lps stabbed and a 16-year-old girl was hit with a flaming aerosol can. septa says they'll have an officer assigned to every train station. police want parents to take this time to talk with their kids about better decision making. >> we're making arrests for felony offenses, which can ruin the rest of their lives. group think is overwhelming good upbringing and common decency. >> reporter: tim furlong, nbc 10 news. police also tell us they might charge an 11th person for the attack. they say that male is not a

sunday. you'll have to pull out the rain gear. i'll tell you all the timing on that when i come back with a full forecast in just a few minutes. guys? thank you so much. new at 5:00, police are investigating a hate crime at a burlington county playground. someone carved a racial slur into a play set at west avenue playground yesterday. the investigation is being treated as a bias incident. a tv producer arrested in connection with the 2015 overdose death of a former south jersey beauty queen. admitted he helped move her out of an apartment in manhattan. mark henry johnson, an alleged cocaine dealer, james holder, were arrested after the death of a dermatologist. johnson faces up to ten years in prison. investigators say a driver trying to get away from police caused this crash in allentown. sky force 10 over the scene this morning. police say the driver took off when an officer found him passed out. he ended up plowing into another

car and seriously injuring a woman in that car. it happened a few blocks away. officers eventually arrested the driver after he took off running. now to new details in yesterday's deadly terror attack in london. the attacker has been identified as khalid masood. we've lunchearned about one of victims, utah native. his wife is hospitalized with severe injuries. both prime minister theresa may and london mayor khan delivered a message of resilience. >> we musn't allow terrorists to destroy our way of live or divide communities. >> we are not afraid. our resolve will never waver in the face of terrorism.

>> at this point, british authorities continue to say masood acted alone. london's westminster bridge reopened today. you'll remember, the attacker drove an suv into pedestrians on that bridge before crashing the vehicle into the gates of parliament. he scaled the fences and later fatally stab adpolicemen before being gunned down by officers. tonight, unity in europe, berlin honored the victims in london with a special tribute. this is video of brandenburg gate lit up with the union jack as a mark of respect. donald trump jr. is facing criticism for a tweet he sent following yesterday's attacks in london. trump jr. tweeted, you have to be kidding me. it's followed by an article where the mayor of london says, quote, terror attacks are part of living in the big city. the tweet included a link to a september newspaper story that includes the quotes from khan who was asking londoners to be

we want to show you some horrific images out of moon township in western pennsylvania northwest of pittsburgh. where a home has exploded. you see the home is levelled there. firefighters walking about the property. some of them, in fact, inside the foundation of the home. it looks as if they have that fire under control. not quite sure of how this thing exploded. again, moon township western pennsylvania. to the north and west of pittsburgh. >> still putting water on it you can see, at least a half dozen, probably more. this is from one of our sister stations. their helicopter there. you can see just a devastating situation. they have a perimeter around the home but there's nothing left. a crater where that home was. >> and we are following some reports right now, not included in that is whether or not anyone

was inside or anyone has been hurt. as soon as we know more about this developing story and these images that are just coming in to our newsroom. we make sure we report it for you on nbc 10. it is day number four in the senate confirmation hearing for supreme court nominee neil gorsuch. >> judge gorsuch wasn't there today as the senate judiciary committee listens to testimony from outside witnesses. he came under fire for his rulings. a member of the american bar association says after thousands of interviews with people who know him and his legal rulings, the associates gave gorsuch its highest mark of qualifications. >> we found, sir, that he was a preeminent member of the legal profession. that he has outstanding legal ability and exceptional breadth of experience. >> a potential set back today, chuck schumer promised to join

other democrats to oppose and filibuster, gorsuch's nomination. today, pennsylvania senator bob casey announced he plans to vote no on judge gorsuch's nomination. the democratic senator says he does not believe judge gorsuch's judicial approach will mean fairness for workers and families in pennsylvania. tonight, a 19-year-old is in custody in israel, accused of the series of bomb threats at jewish community centers across the country. police say he used sophisticated methods to hide his tracks when he carried out call after call after call. chris pelon reports on the relief from the jewish community. >> reporter: the suspect covered his face as he made his first experience in court. israeli police say he's a dual citizen in israel and u.s. he's in his late teens. he was identified as michael cater who is being held in connection with the wave of threats. >> we believe he's the main

suspects behind threats that were made in new zealand, australia, and the united states against jewish community and jewish centers. >> reporter: the fbi has searched for the source of the threats for months. bomb teams conducted searches, israeli police say cater is also responsible for a bomb threat against a 2015 delta airlines flight, force today land early. the teen's public defender says he has a brain tumor which could affect his cognitive function and the court has agreed to a medical exam. >> because of this very serious medical conditions didn't serve in the army, didn't go to high school. didn't go to elementary school. >> reporter: police say the suspect used advanced technology to keep from being tracked but they're not sure of a motive. in a statement the anti-defamation league said we're relieved there's been an arrest in the majority of bomb

threats across the country. added, anti-semitism in the u.s. remains a serious concern. he is in police detention for eight days. there are new numbers showing just how much money is coming in by philadelphia's soda tax. the city's department of revenue says the tax brought in $6.4 million last month. slightly more than what the city projected. it tops the $5.9 million generated in january. that brings the two month total to $12.3 million. a portion of the money goes toward expanding prek and community schools. how about this? former jersey shore star nicole snookie is the inspiration for a bill in new jersey. >> it would limit the amount of state money that could pay speakers at public universities. she collected $32,000 to speak at rutgers university in 2011. new legislation would cap state

shifting to the east. you can see already clouds and precipitation across much of the upper midwest and moving into the great lakes. pieces of this will come flinging in our direction over the next four days. high pressure, scoots off shore. we have the south winds, that's been a key to every time that we warm up. as clouds mucove in, southerly winds will take us into the 50s but not before a taste of a wintry mix. it will start early in the morning, 9:00 in the morning up in the poconos, they have a winter weather advisory. it changes over to rain and we could see sprinkles making their way through the morning across the area. hit and miss. we clear out in the afternoon. note the southerly winds, they take us to 70. we're liking that. that will be impressive. maybe a few sprinkles make their way saturday night into sunday. the winds shift from the east, from the ocean, that's the cold

repeal and replace obamacare. president trump and gop leaders spent the past 24 hours reaching out to hold out republicans, but ultimately came up short. nbc 10's lauren mayk has been reaching out to local lawmakers. she'll have more on what this means ahead at 6:00. septa police say they have arrested ten teenager in connection with this brawl caught on video last week. at least three people were hurt in the melee at the race vine street station. police might also charge an 11th person for the attack. and this just in from london, another victim of the terror attack died from his injuries. that brings the number of deaths to four people. plus the gunman. also today, british authorities identified the suspect as a 52-year-old man born in england, that had previously been investigated for violent extremism. back here at home, police hope you can help them find a pair of thieves who thrive on confusion and distraction in the

an update to the house explosion in western pennsylvania. we brought you as breaking news about 40 minutes ago. our nbc affiliate in pittsburgh says the homeowners were not inside. thank goodness. but they were at work when their home exploded. their two dogs were inside, but the dogs are okay. this is an moon township, west of pittsburgh in allegheny county. the next door neighbor was inside his garage when the home exploded. he said it felt like he was back in vietnam. still no word on what caused the explosion right now. >> that puts it in perspective for you. back here at home. sky force 10 over breaking news in kensington. a row house is caught on fire. we're looking at the images with you right now. take a look at that scene. we've heard firefighters is there. no injuries just yet. no reports of them i should say. as soon as we learn more about this we'll report it for you. today federal officials took

steps to crack down on illegal cell phones in prisons. the fcc approved new rules making it easier for prisons across the country to find and block these phones. the move comes after a south carolina corrections officer was nearly killed in a shooting, planned by an inmate losing an illegal cell phone. deliberations are underway in the criminal trial of penn state's former president. he's accused of mishandling complaints related to the jerry s sandusky sex scandal. he is facing several charges including endangering the welfare of children. a pennsylvania mom is behind bars after police say she beat her daughter for incorrectly reciting bible forces. police say she slammed her 13-year-old's head into the wall and threatened to kill her every time she made mistake. the mom is facing assault and terror threat charges. the search is on for a thief

10:00 in the morning, right now that's the timing with the forecast models we could see a wintry mix, freezing rain, sleet, rain mixing in. this will be out at mount pocono, the lehigh valley, berks county. this is then going to head toward the suburbs. so the suburbs could then pick up a little bit of precipitation, maybe philly gets a sprinkle. for the most part it should miss the jersey shore, south jersey, delaware and philly. but a sprinkle may move back in saturday night, we make it tomorrow into the 50s. more importantly, by saturday, we're going to be in the 70s. some of the area is picking up the mid 70s. then we drop saturday night into the 50s. on sunday, we could get some sprinkles. but we don't make it out of the 40s on sunday. that's kind of the bummer news. good news is, if you're going to pick a weekend day, pick saturday. it's going to be an awesome day. this is where we'll be going tonight in your neighborhood. we're going to be looking at 32

in philly, 27 in the pennsylvania suburbs. 29 for lehigh valley. the south jersey, you're looking at 30. shore, 31 and delaware 30. we'll see the clouds increasing, again, toward dawn, a little bit of a mixed precipitation out there in the lehigh valley and toward mount pocono. you can see it right here. parts of the area nothing but the model. this is our realistic model is painting in the rain to the north and west. let's figure out what will be happening for you tomorrow. the rain is still going to remain north of the area. temperatures are going to soar into the 50s unless you're in the lehigh valley. that's where you'll remain in the 40s. we'll hang on to the clouds north and west of the metro area. now, here comes the roller coaster ride. put on that seatbelt, you may need it for the next ten days. we're basically going to be looking at temperatures near 70 by the time that we get into saturday or above it in some places. dropping to the 40s. that's a 20 degree drop we'll be
