in southwest philadelphia. he managed to get away and steal another car. that's when investigator says u he made his way to the apartment complex in delaware where he was shot and killed by police. we spoke to brown's father a short while ago. >> it's tough. >> the officer who killed brown is on medicine straightive leave. more details on this coming up at 6:00. we're following developing story along the turnpike. a state trooper was involved in a deadly shooting at a service area. it happened just before 3:00 this afternoon at the molly service area in kran berry township. sources say the officer was not hurt. it is still not clear what led to shooting. a suspected serial rapist is under arrest in delaware county. authorities say the 19-year-old attacked nine wimp. they say the attacks took place

massachusetts and maine. a surprising move tr the white house today. the leaders of the house and senate intelligence committees were invited to review classified information about russian election hacking. the offer came on the same day that the senate intelligence committee held its first public hearing on the matter. for more than two hours today, a a panel of experts laid out tactics used by russia to influence the 2016 election and efforts going on right now to reach the president. >> i can tell you right now today outlets that are soviet pushing accounts tweet at president trump during high volumes when he's online and push conspiracy theories. >> the health committee investigation sbo russian election hacking had has stalled. no date yet when it will move forward. vladimir putin today dismissed accusations of meddling in the u.s. election. speaking at antic forum, he

regulations. new video of a a group of thieves targeting high end jewelry stores in our area. police tell us this is video of the group hitting a jeweler on street road a little earlier this month. the thieves cut through the roof to get inside and steal thousands from states. investigators believe the same thieves hit a jeweler in philadelphia's lawn crest neighborhood by cutting through roof there. >> a big crowd at lynn financial field at a job fair for veterans. 800 people registered for the event. representatives from jpmorgan and wells fargo were just a few of the companies that it took part in the job fare. >> another job fare, undergraduates pack 150 local employers set up shop inside the university's center. comcast and underarmor were

this afternoon we're learning that north carolina's governor has signed a a new law that rolls back the state's controversial bathroom bill. the critics say the replacement still allows for discrimination. . it repeals part of the original bill that forced transgender people to use the bathroom that corresponds with their birth certificate. the american civil liberties

union and activists complained that the new bill still denies them certain protections from discrimination. several high profile sporting events moved out of north carolina after that bill was passed. amazon's ceo has 2 billion reasons to be thankful for last year. he's now the third richest person in the world. with a microsoft cofounder bill gates and warren buffett. life must be good. recliners, sofas and a gator. take a look at this gator head underneath the back tire. you can see it better here. to get him back into the water, deputies in florida had to drag him through a furn dhur store. that was the shortest route. customers cleared out and employees recorded the whole thing. gator is doing just fine. now to our first alert

weather, we're tracking strong showers arriving overnight. >> meteorologist tammie souza and chief meteorologist glenn schwartz are in the weather center to fill us in. >> it will be raining cats and dogs, not gators. >> and in the afternoon, that would be the worst of it. >> you're going to have to pack your patience. all of you when you head off to work, it's going to be rather ugly. we are going to be looking at the heaviest rain in the afternoon. we're going to talk about this storm system. pause right now, we're not feeling the effects of it here. they are trying to make their way in from the west. maybe a few sprinkles will hit the ground. so we don't have a lot of rain yet. but it is knocking on the door. so don't be fooled by what you

see outside right now. the center of this huge area of low pressure is moving out of missouri. it's in two parts. it's crossing the area. this is going to scoot quickly overnight in our direction. it will be nearby by tomorrow. ask then saturday morning it will be parked over the philadelphia area. so let's watch what happens over the next 24 to 36 hours. we see the rain increase overnight. so spotty showers overnight. by. the time we get to 11:00 from trenton back to allentown and redding, we'll be looking at some shower activity. and thenar this it here through friday morning. look the at the heavy rain that continues to move in. at 4:00 right over wilmington, this is a bulls eye of heavy rain. this is the forecast model so this bulls eye may be over philly. it could be over trenton and over atlantic city. but the idea is there's going to

be a number of these heavy downpours making their way through the area as this low pressure approaches us and it's going to be pulling those winds in from the southeast, which is going to keep us cooler. it scoots past the area by early on saturday, but we're still going to be stuck in the middle of showers. how much rain? this is one of our forecast models. we call it the rpm. it's the rapid precision model. it's actually forecasting anywhere from 2 inches in mount pocono to 2.3 inches in philly. maybe 3 inches in wilmington. so this could be localized flooding across the area we're going to be dealing with. now the temperatures for tomorrow we're not going to be very warm. lock at this. if we make it to 50 tomorrow with the rain showers and breezy conditions in the afternoon, we'll be lucky in philly. let's take a look at the suburbs. we're going to be making it into the 40s. it looks like the lehigh valley the low to mid-40s and perhaps in delaware we'll make it to the warmest spot. delaware and the shore into the low 50s.

south jersey will make it into the 50s as well. with a look at the weekend with just the pay off, here is glen. >> so saturday is going to be better than friday. and sunday is going to be way better than saturday. as tammie was showing you, that storm track is coming right across us. so we're going to that storm to get far enough offshore to clear us out over the weekend. it may not be cleared out by saturday early. that's 5:00 a.m. still could be a little rain left. especially around the trenton area. as that low moves out and the turns into the north, the rain is gone even by 9:00 a.m. here. but you don't see the dry air. it's not clearing. there's still clouds all over the place. we get the clearing saturday night which sets us up for that nice on sunday.

that's why we have the forecast like this. totally cloudy on saturday. with the rain over with. that keeps the temperature down a little bit. leftover rain in the morning. jersey shore and delaware. and sunday, sunshine all over the place. temperatures near 60 degrees, perhaps a a little bit late. and the ten-day forecast, shows that heavy rain on trid. the early morning chance of rain on saturday. sunday is beautiful. monday starts off that way. but then the next system is coming in. ask i'm telling you the next one is going to be pretty strong too. we could get heavy rain on tuesday. then we have tomorrow. this happens ever few days. . that means some kind of a threat for some rain for the phillies home opener.

facebook users can host fundraisers. a new tool called personal fundraiser allows them to raise money for themselves or someone not on facebook. to prevent people tr being ripped off, there's a 24-hour review process. and the events are tied to real profiles so donors can see how they are connected to the person who created the fundraiser. mcdonald's is switching from frozen to fresh. the fast food giant announced it is swapping out its frozen beef patties pr fresh ones. that's been the biggest selling point at wendy's. the switch is expected to take place some time next year. the proof was literally in the pudding for some camden culinary art students today. >> if you haven't had your dinner yet, this will make you hungry. students prepared a a meal for their final. they are divided into two teams.

right now at 5:30, jealousy and yaij rage police say a boyfriend was jealous at the attention his girlfriend gave the dog. deanna durante talked to the dog's owner. >> e she joins us live with the story. >> joel davis is in prison. . investigators say he killed two dogs as revenge. >> it's the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard of. >> reporter: he's it all. . ask then there's this case. >> it start ed on a february weekend when the 2-year-old pug died. the dog's owner jennifer sherman. >> i even told him that weekend you better take care of him. nothing better happen. >> the him is her boyfriend joel davis. that's him in the pictures.

because the rainfall totals exceed 2 inches of rain. it could get to isolated areas. so you need to be able to pack all your patience, carry your umbrella, your rain boots, get the kids ready for this because it's going to be a long and frustrating day. the radar beams are sweeping the sky. we have some returns coming out of the areas up in the lehigh valley. even philadelphia right now has been slow to accumulate. but from philly to east pikeland, we are seeing some showers. where you see these areas of orange, that's where we're actually seeing the rain reach the ground. so that's where we're seeing the rain reach the ground. some of these areas may even see a clp of thunder tonight. we could see some lightning as well. the main body is still to the west coming out of the upper midwest. we'll talk more about all this and the timing and we'll have a look at your weekend. the second half is going to be a a winner.

let's a live look now over the philadelphia museum of arts. a three-year renovation began to transform one of the greatest landmarks. the museum has a $525 million fundraising goal. . we were there as the mayor and the mu staff broke ground on what's being called the poor project. it's clear this is a huge undertaking. take a look at these photos of what some of the work entails. the mayor says the project represents the future of the facility and philadelphia in the city supporting it. >> capital support to fund this core project. >> to celebrate, the museum offered an open house today with what you wish pricing. atlantic city electric could be raising rates again. they told the state board it needs more than $70 hl for upgrades and modernizing its

hill and philadelphia. then we go up to a a steadier rain. maybe even a clap of thunder involved with some of this. especially tomorrow we'll see it. then even more showers a as we get out to pottsville and hazleton. we'll continue to see the showers increase overnight and can we'll be in periods of heavy rain tomorrow because of this area of low pressure. this is going to e head in our direction crossing philly. let's go hour by hour. could see a mix or a freezing rain. the light freezing rain. . the rest of the area is simple isly rain.

. what happened at that store? >> one of the women works a at the grocery store. the district attorney says she called pli eed police and said who attacked me is in my store. >> if there's more victims, i. hope they come forward. >> investigators suspect the nine women they say 19-year-old attacked in chester since he was 16 are just the tip of the iceberg. >> we believe there are other vuk t victims out there. he's told us. >> according to prosecutors, lee confessed that in many cases, he would rob and rape his victims at gunpoint. in one instance here at the transportation hub in chester, police tell us lee struggled with his victims and shot her in the head causing a minor graze wound. do you have anything to say to the victims? are you guilty of these crimes? >> it wasn't until january of this year when police picked up lee at a delaware county grocery store. the district attorney says one
