tonight on nbc 10:00 news at 11, kid nap and assault. a teenage girl plucked off the street and assaulted by three people. we are live at the scene with details. >> we have an update on a fuel

spill that closed part of the expressway. police say a mall tav cocktail was thrown into the house. good evening and welcome to nbc 10 news at 11:00. tonight doctors are treating a 13-year-old girl in a hospital while police are searching for three teenagers in connection with an assault. drew. >> reporter: denise investigators tell us this 13-year-old girl was walk here on butler street at 5:00 when a group of teens dragged her into this abandoned home. and that's where police say the assault happened. police roped off the already abandoned home.

it's now the site of a sex crime investigation. we watched as the detective took photos. but the police response began shortly after 5:00. >> there was a lot of police officers. when they came up, they went in the back of the house. they went in the front of the house searching. >> reporter: not only was the victim of a 13-year-old girl dragged off the street was the suspected attackers were young boys. >> it's crazy. >> reporter: melanie walker is a resident of this block. nobody has lived in this home for years, but lately neighbors see people coming in and out. >> just devastated. i'm so devastated. it's horrible. you know i just think the kids

need more guidance. >> reporter: and as you can see, it wasn't too hard for the teens to get in this door. the door is still ajar right now. we're told that 13-year-old is stable at st. christopher's hospital for children. we're live. i'm drew smith, nbc 10 news. new at 11 nbc firefighters rescued a woman trapped in a fire. it happened just before 5:00 tonight. the device blew out the windows of the house and set the first floor on fire. the woman inside became trapped on the second floor until firefighters were able to get out. a neighbor told us she heard a loud bang and went outside to check on her children. >> the neighbor brought it to my attention. so that was that noise? you know it's crazy.

>> the woman rescued from that house is not hurt. police are still looking for the person responsible. almost exactly 90 days into his term dwight evens hosted his first town hall. healthcare dominated much of the conversation. nbc 10 andre thomas joins us live. >> reporter: he told the crowd he's trying to find allies within the republican party to get laws passed. he also said all of your calls to his offices are being heard loud and clear. >> the purpose of this town meet sg really to hear you. >> reporter: in the first time in a three-month 10ure as a u.s. representative, dwight met in the town hall to answer questions from his constituents. a number of questions address

the affordable care act also known as obamacare. despite surviving republicans failed attempt at repeal, voters still want reform. he says that presents an opportunity for democrats. do you think democrats are willing to work with donald trump? >> the answer's, yes. >> reporter: minority in both the house and senate, democrats have no choice but to reach across the aisle. >> i think there are more and more republicans every single day that are coming to our side and seeing our vision and our plan. >> reporter: but some voters are saying they're repeating past mistakes. >> i think the -- >> reporter: even stressed it's the voters not necessarily the party that's pushing the agenda. >> well, i heard the message. 5,000 phone calls, 500 phone

calls in the last week. >> reporter: and i asked representative evens what democrats can do to restore steaks back into the party. he said meeting with voters and talking to them directly is a start. reporting live in the west neighborhood i'm andrea thomas, nbc 10 news. ten hours after a fuel tanker overturned. that truck spilled about 6,000 gallons of gas just before 1:00 this afternoon. the eastbound lines are still closed by crews still work to cleanup that mess. a woman is dead, a victim of an apartment fire in east oakland neighborhood. now, this was the scene today. firefighters say the woman was found inside the burning second floor apartment. she later died at the scene. in all four apartments were

evacuated. no other injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. a south jersey man is facing assault charges for allegedly beating a woman and two kids. police say it happened in a home on estel avenue in black wood. a woman reported that she and two children were assaulted by a man. police later determined the suspect was charles williams. williams returned to had home and barricaded himself inside. police eventually took him into custody. an investigation is underway after an abandoned warehouse went up in flames this morning. this video was sent in by a viewer. and crews were called to south 11 street in redding about 9:30 this morning. no injures were reported. well, michal neuvirth is back

home after collapsing last night. he was alone in front of the crease when he collapsed. now he eventually was taken off the ice in a stretcher. now, the team said he checked out okay and is back home resting. he's scheduled to be reevaluated some time tomorrow. >> well, philly babel almost here. the team opens up the 2017 season in cincinnati. and just like last year jared is expected to get the start. and get this, the first 500 fans get a free cheese steak and a drink. and nbc 10 will help welcome the phillys home on friday. you can watch the 2017 home opener right here on nbc 10. and remember to catch our pregame show on friday starting

at 2:00 p.m. and speaking of the phillies, clear skies tonight in south philadelphia. taking a look. the phillies could be facing rain for both the season opener and the home opener. erica, lots of rain this week. lots of rain off and on. so definitely a roller coaster ride in the weather department. but right now we are still seeing mostly clear skies even though some clouds are moving in from the northwest towards the southeast. lots of 40s and a few low 50s. elroy currently at 50 degrees. new town 53. bed minister 49. and new jersey also seeing some 40s and some 50s. robinsville 54 degrees. lumberten 50 degrees. so notice these temperatures

right now are just about right for this time of year. in other words, they are seasonable. however, we do have temperatures that will start to warmup as a warm front slides up towards us. but we also have some rain headed in our direction. locally we are starting to some clouds move in and some showers just northwest of us. and a water perspective tells us why. this is a system we've been tracking for you. this is going to continue to wake its way up towards the midwest and into our viewing area. and we are expecting round and heavy down pours and some embedded thunderstorms on tuesday. temperatures are going be above average. 66 on wednesday. but there is a tradeoff. of course, we do have those thunderstorms in the forecast. so coming up we're going to talk

a suspected tornado ripped through a mobile home in louisiana killing a mother and her 3-year-old daughter. strong winds ripped a house right off its foundation. the child's father was away at the time and returned home to find his family in the debris. >> i can't -- i lost everything, everything. i lost my family. >> devastating. more suvirile weather is expected in the region. louisiana's governor has warned residents to stay off the roads. president trump is again accusioning the media of missing the real story behind russia's involvement in the election. earlier the president took to twitter to vent about it, tweeting the real story turns out to be surveillance and

leaking. find the leakers. meanwhile senate reporters are pushish back at election. >> based on what we know now, we've got a bipartisan investigation underway. it's called the senate intelligence committee. >> they get we're getting our strengthen back, we're getting our voice back, and that we're starting to lead again. >> there are concerns that republican devin nunes, chair of the intelligence house committee ssh is too close to the white house to investigate the matter. when the senate judishiary committee votes on neil gorsuch. republicans are threatening to invoke the so-called nuclear option, meeting only a 51 vote majority. senator tom carper was referenced about the matter on meet the press. >> for a lot of senate democrats

they're not done litigating this, a democratic senator who is not good about filibustering. again, what was wrong with allowing him to have an up and down vote? >> i already told you. you don't feel supreme court vacancies in the middle of an election. that's what joe biden said back in 1992. >> should that be the policy going forward? are you prepared to pass a policy saying in election years that say no supreme court nominations will be considered in any even numbered year? is that where we're headed? >> chuck, with all due respect, that's an abird question. we were right in the middle of a presidential election year. everybody knew that either side had the shoe on the other foot would have filled it. >> the seat has been vacant for

almost 14 months. well, the search for the missing continues tonight in parts of columbia after a landslide last night. at least 200 people are dead, 178 people are missing, and more than 200 others are hurt. heavy rains caused several rivers to overflow. it happened around midnight saturday night while most people were sleeping. survivors slept in tents and desperately searched for missing loved ones. to california where a horse crashed thru a great and fell through a concrete vault. they tried to keep the horse calm and get him out. they tied some ropes around the house and after a few attempts were able to coax the horse to jump out. the horse walked away with just a few cuts. wow, do you see that?

exploding manholes in boston. this is void yo of several manhole covers that went flying in the city's down town section. still no word on what's touching off the explosions. fortunately, no one was hurt. i'm first alert meteorologists erica martini. current temperature for allen town, 49 degrees. 51 for mount holly, well mgten, and dover. but notice that onshore breeze off the delaware bay. we're seeing 350. and today's high temperature in philadelphia tops out at 56 degrees which is good, above average. for this time of year we normally see 59 in philadelphia. more pornly we're seeing those westerly and south wersly winds.

light winds for south atlantic and philadelphia. a water perspective here shows us this area of high pressure pushing offshore and eastward out to sea. but notice we're seeing this clockwise circilation, so that is of course shifting the winds and any misture we do have. the leading edge of this massive system we are tracking by late monday into tuesday, those clouds are pretty much moving into our area right now. so we are seeing some thin high clouds working across our viewing area. out the door, forecast starting at 2:00 a.m. we're going to see those clouds develop over night into early tomorrow. at 6:00 a.m. many of you are getting ready for work and school. by 10:00 a.m. 55 is your expected temperature. for tomorrow temperatures will be above average for this time

of the year. and the good news is at least most of the day will be dry. we're not seeing rain until later in the day. new jersey, look at this, at 6:00 a.m. you're seeing temperatures in the mid40s. 50s by 10:00 a.m. at 10:00 a.m. 55 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. now hour by hour forecasts tracks this storm. we're going to start this at midnight. and notice how it continues to make it way through the tennessee valley and through the ohio river valley. it looks like we will see some heavy down pours. my concern with will be for the morning commute on tuesday. and we do have some embedded thunderstorms. keep that in mind. this system will completely clear by about 11:00 p.m., 11:30

so very pleasant. i certainly hope you got outside today and enjoyed the day. 38 for you. philadelphia currently at 50. wilmington at 51. so let's go ahead and focus on some neighborhoods. delaware right now seeing lots of 50s and some upper 40s. newark 49 degrees. notice that southwesterly influence as far as the winds are concerned. and long neck currently one degree warmer at 50 degrees. upper township, that's 42. seeing 42 degrees. and atlantic city right now seeing some 40s, upper 40s. that's your current temperature. again all influenced by those southwesterly winds.

coming up in just a bit we're going to talk more about that because we are expecting a system due here coming in from the southwest bringing in heavy downpours monday into tuesday. >> erku, thank you. a man shot and killed while driving and now police on the hunt for the gunman. >> reporter: police say this happened at the intersection while the victim was waiting for the light and another car came up and started firing. now police have not released a motive at this point. but neighbors and other drivers who i spoke with today say it makes them uncomfortable. it's a busy road, a main thurofair through the northeast. bullets flying from one car into another. >> it worries you a little bit. >> reporter: we talked to drivers today going through the same interaekz. >> it makes me nervous.

>> reporter: police say the victim, a 39-year-old man was stopped at the light. this woman say she heard the shots. police say the victim was hit in the head and neck just before 6:30 a.m. the victim in his car kept going, swerving, and eventually crashing into the fence here on the other side. the shooter took off south on the boulevard. when you hear that there was somebody shooting at somebody else from a car here, how does that make you feel? >> a bit uncomfortable because i thought it was actually good. >> he just moved to inneighborhood, looking for a safe place to raise his family. >> she just turned 1:00 and my daughter's about to turn one month. >> you just got to be careful. >> so far they have not released

the identity of the man killed, and they are looking for the shooter. in summer dale mime lauren nbc 10 news. a follow-up tonight on the stabbing of a couple in philadelphia. her husband is in critical condition with multiple stab wounds. the cup fl's son discovered his parents friday. police tell us it does not appear there was a breaken. and a look at the top stories we are following this week. causeby's lawyers are expected to ask the judge to fill out a questionnaire to determine how much they've read and heard about the case. causeby's accused of assaulting a woman in his home back in 2005. a pretrial hearing is set for tomorrow for eric frein.

he set a fire killing one state trooper and seriously injuring another. the opening statements are scheduled for tuesday. to will mgten now. three high school girls will appear in court for a fight that left one of their friends dead. two other girls are accused of planning that fight. she died due to heart problems following that fight. history could be made this week if president trump's supreme court nominee neil gorsuch is not confirmed. the judiciary committee is expected to approve him tomorrow. but in the full senate nearly 20 democrats oppose the nomination. tomorrow a history making moment in philadelphia.

in chicago police have charged the first of several teenagerers for gang raping a teenage girl live on facebook. a 14-year-old boy is charged with aggregateivated sexual assault. at least 40 people viewed the tape while it was airing live on facebook last month. none of them told police. and after the assault the victim was harassed on social media. >> on social media, i'm going to call it bullying that occurs where people are really making fun of the victim and just a lot of off-color comments about what occurred. and this is causing a lot more trauma to the victim than she already suffered. >> police say five were involved and they suspect more arrests.

president trump is again accusing the media for missing the real story behind russia's involvement in the u.s. election. nbc's jennifer johnson has the story from washington. >> reporter: republican senator rand paul meeting president trump sunday for golf and talk on replacing obamacare. >> i think the sides are getting closer and closer. >> reporter: he took to twitter tweeting the real story turns out to be surveillance and leaking. find the leakers. this is senate republican push back as suggestion of a special prosecutor is needed to investigate after concerns that devin nunes, chair of the house intelligence committee, is too close to white house. >> it's just not necessary based on what we know now. >> reporter: the president's ambassador to the u.n. denies

there's any love between mr. trump and the kremlin. >> the president has not once called me and said don't beat up on russia. there's no love going on with russia right now. they get we're getting our strengthen back, our voice back, and we're starting to lead again. >> reporter: when the senate judiciary nominated neil gorsuch. democrats want to block the confirmation. the nuclear option would need only a 50 vote majority. >> you shouldn't change the rules. you should change the nominee. >> reporter: but republicans say they will use that option if necessary. that showdown in the full senate is expected this week. if confirmed gorsuch will replace. jennifer johnson, nbc news washington. a man suspected of holding up four banks in delaware is in jail tonight.

police say officers arrived and chased nicholas vaughn as he sped away from the bank on friday. the car crossed nau maryland where state police took vaughn into custody. he's now awaiting exextradition to delaware. well, a deadly crash claimed a young woman's life in philadelphia's neighborhood. now, the driver hilt a deer and lost control. then hit a utility pole. the crash ripped the car in half. the 23-year-old woman in the passenger seat died. the driver suffered serious injuries. i'm first alertmeterologist erika martini with your first alert forecast. coast one degree warmer at 50. notice this cooler temperature at 40 because we do have a little bit of an onshore breeze

off the delaware bay. atlantic city 51 along with philadelphia. philadelphia we topped out at 56 degrees above the average of 59. so we'll take that. and here's the deal, we'll actually warmup over the next couple of days. winds coming out of the southwest of dover at 8 miles per hour. we're seeing light breezes for philadelphia. atlantic city also seeing southwesterlies along with wild wood. and a reason we're seeing a shift in these winds is because we do have an area of high pressure. this was our weather maker all day long. because high pressures were clockwise, we're seeing that influence in the shift in the wind. we're also seeing some upper level moisture as we track a storm just to the southwest of us. and this is why we're starting to see some thin, high clouds

move into our area. this is the storm we're tracking for you. just starting to move cross the tennessee valley and then across the ohio valley area. we're going to see clouds developing over night into tomorrow. notice temperatures at 10:00 a.m., 55 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds in philadelphia. that's 10:00 a.m. with more clouds developing. so we're seeing those clouds develop from west to east very quickly. at 6:00 a.m. for the lee high valley temperatures in the low 40s. and it looks like we're seeing that trend for the jersey shore and delaware. keep in mind we do have temperatures climbing above average. but we're also tracking this system moving in our direction. so we're starting just after midnight and our first pause point at 9:00 p.m. on monday.

this is when we'll see that rain approaching. and then just after midnight everybody's going to see some heavy downpours. and in fact you can see here in the yellow and oranges that's telling us we do have some heavy rain moving through the region by early tuesday morning. for that tuesday commute we're still seeing widespread rain across the delaware valley. and it's not going to clear until tuesday approximately 11 or 10:00 p.m. it means at least we have a pretty nice wednesday in the forecast. but we have thunderstorms for tuesday, thunderstorms for thursday and home opener, it do looks like we have some rain. but it good news is we won't see any rain on sunday, perhaps an early sprinkle. rain on and off this week. pick of the week, wednesday.

now to a story of an elementary schoolteacher who is going above and beyond the call of duty. she says more than 90% of the kids at her school which from families at or below the poverty line and most without a way to get home from school. and that started an idea. she started a go-fund me page with an idea to get children a bike. >> it's a basic childhood thing. it's something that represents joy. >> the donations poured in. and they raised more than $80,000 enough to buy a bike for all 650 students at the school. a wonderful uplifting story. here's a preview.
