we are following breaking news from new york where another train derailment is impacting travel. we'll have a look at the effect on mass transit here in our area. back in court, entertainer bill cosby returns to montgomery county courtroom in the latest showdown with the evidence in his sex assault case. a fresh start and the day so many phillys fans have been waiting for. the phils are back in action on opening day and the phillys manager is letting you know what to expect this season. >> nbc 10 news starts now. right now at 11:00, a terrifying incident involving a 13-year-old girl and now philadelphia police want to track down the three teens who they say grabbed a girl off of a street and dragged her into an abandoned house and attacked

her. good morning. i'm vai sikahema. police are asking for the public's health lp in finding t teenagers. three boys grabbed her around 5:00 last night and investigators still haven't found them. nbc 10's matt delucia, what can you tell us? >> they are very busy here at the special victims unit. this morning they do have some new information, but not a whole lot. >> i hope she okay. >> reporter: neighbors on the 1300 block of west butler street are still in shock and anger over what happened in this abandoned home yesterday afternoon. around 5:00 p.m. philly police say three teenage boys approacheded a 13-year-old girl who was walking down the street. they dragged her inside the home and assaulted her. >> that's ridiculous. for little kids to be raping little kids. what are we coming to?

>> the home was boarded up, but neighbors say that hasn't been enough to stop pretrespassers. this morning we went back to that house to find nothing has changed. >> just so devastated. it's horrible. >> police believe they were 15 or 16 years old. she was able to tell detectives what happened. so far, no arrests. >> we only have nicknames on one or two of them right now, but we need the public's help. it's a very nasty and ugly crime. >> reporter: and that's about all police have to go on right now. they're hoping to get more and the neighbors on that block are hoping to get those three teens off the street as quickly as possible. >> live in special victims unit, i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. we're following breaking news out of new york city for the second time in less than two weeks a train derailed at penn station. a passenger onboard the train sent these photos to nbc 10. a transit spokesperson said there was a slow-speed

derailment as the train pulled into the nation. n.j. transit service in and out of penn station was shut down at 9:30 a.m. as authorities investigated. the fdny confirmed four people suffered minor injuries. let's check the impact on first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington. >> now, unfortunately, vai, we have service suspended in and out of penn station for new jersey because of this and that's affecting the northeast corridor and the north jersey coast and montclair, midtown direct is redirected into hoboken, but they're trying to help out with the situation. they're honoring new jersey transit bus and waterway ferry, as well. the lesson here is to check before you go to see what's affected for you because of the derailed train that might be there with the accident investigation under way, as well. >> these are the cameras around 17th street and this is the southbound side.

there is slow moving maintenance vehicles up ahead. that's why we're seeing the southbound slowdown near the schuylkill express way and we'll see the lane restrictions. construction on hamilton on the route 61, and this is from an earlier accident that happened yesterday and now they have cleanup there and we'll end up on the bridges, the lanes closed there until 3:00 p.m. and that's a little mistake there, but either way, lanes closed over the palmyra bridge and construction eastbound where the right lane is closed over the wall. vai, back to you. happening now, comedian bill cosby is back in court in norristown for a pre-trial hearing in his sex assault case and cosby arrived shortly before 9:00 a.m. and today lawyers are asking that potential jurors fill out a question air aboaire

what they've heard about the case. cosby is accused of assaulting a woman in his home and has pled not guilty. accused cop killer eric frein is charged with shooting two straight troopers in the poconos in 2014, killing one of them. frein's lawyers want his videotaped confession thrown out, but police said he agreed to cooperate. opening statements in his trial are set for tomorrow. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> and a mild monday throughout our area, but the clouds are hanging around as we take a live look at boat house row in philadelphia. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist krystal cli kryst krystal klie, and starting to see those clouds increase around the neighborhoods and 58 in philadelphia and 59 in the pennsylvania suburbs. same deal, 58 in new jersey and just now into the 60s in areas

like the lehigh valley and delaware up to 61. overall, today is looking like a pretty good day. you see winds right now about 5, 10 miles an hour and those may pick up a tad into breezier conditions especially into the later day and overnight. take a look at the satellite. we have some clouds to our north, but we will see more clouds building in through the day and if we pull this out wider, we've got some change coming our direction. storm center is still well to our west and you tee area of moisture associated with the storm is headed in our direction. this will attract from west to east as we go through today so by tonight some of this moisture will make its way into place meaning we start to return to the rainy pattern we've been on again off again seeing for quite some time. for the next 36 hours, increasing clouds and mid-60s by later today and by tonight the rain returns and rumbles of thunder possible with some thunderstorms starting to develop into tomorrow.

those scattered thunderstorms and even warmer conditions are expected. we'll run through your forecast the rest of today and your workweek coming up in a few minutes. all right. we'll send it to you, crystal. philadelphia police are looking for a driver that crashed into an suv in the front of a fitness center. this happened on main street near ridge avenue and the driver slammed into the front sense of the building around 3:00 this morning. police tell us the driver and passenger who were inside the suv took off. there are no arrests and no reports of anyone being hurt. police are looking for the person who firebombed a woman's west philadelphia home. someone threw a molotov cocktail on reno street before 5:00. the device blew out the windows of the house and set the first floor on fire. a woman inside was trapped in the second floor. firefighters rescued her and a neighbor tells us she heard a loud bang and went outside to check on her kids. >> the neighbor brought it to my

attention, they just firebombed the house. so that was that noise? you know, it's, like, it's crazy. >> the police questioned the woman after the fire and she was not hurt. >> police continue to search for the armed driver who shot and killed another driver. the deadly shooting happened in summer dale yesterday morning. a driver pulled up alongside the victim's car in a spotlight and that's when the gunmen opened fire and the man lost control of his car and eventually swerving across multiple lanes of traffic and crashing into a fence. in decision 2017, today is the deadline for major party candidates in the race for new jersey governor that filed their petitions and the primary is june 6th and independent candidates also have until their day to get their petitions in. on the democratic side, former ambassador bill murphy is funding his campaign himself and he's running against jim

y26vgy y5yy we have breaking news out of russia. at least nine people are dead after an explosion on a subway train in st. petersburg. a russian senator looks like the work terrorists. a second device that did not detonate was found at another station. security is being tight owned all transit locations in the russian capital.

russian president vladimir putin is visiting the city to hold talks with the belarusian president. he expressed his condolences to the families of the dead and injured. >> also breaking in st. louis, missouri, three people are dead after a boiler explosion in an industrial area there. three buildings were damaged and four other people are hurt. two have critical injuries and fire officials say a boiler exploded at a box company and debris flew into the other buildings. judge neil gorsuch is about to be one step closer to the supreme court. here is another look at the senate judiciary committee that is meeting right now and he's expected to send his nomination this morning. this is senator lindsay graham you're looking at a short time ago during the hearing and another senator dianne feinstein said she will oppose gorsuch and support a filibuster of his

nomination. tracie potts is following the development from d.c. >> reporter: a senior u.s. official tells nbc that jared kushner made an unannounced trip to iraq with the joint chiefs chair. it comes as the white house responds overnight to kushner's vast real estate holdings. his attorney says, they're, quote, unlikely to pose the kinds of conflicts that would trigger the need to divest, this as president trump welcomes egypt's controversial leader today and china's president later this week with this message. >> they need to put pressure on north korea. the only country that can stop north korea is china. >> the russia investigation continues this week. the senate is reportedly not ready to give former national security adviser mike flinn immunity. >> it's not uncommon, but i think it's premature. >> that's the senate's investigation. of course, the house investigation has been embroiled in the controversy about classified documents and who got them and who didn't and what they say. democrats say that's distracting from the key question they're

trying to answer, were there trump officials involveded in helping russia influence the election? tracie potts. the father came home yesterday to find his family in the debris of their flipped-over mobile home. in alexandria, louisiana, shoppers at a mall caught this tornado on their cell phone cameras. you see a funnel cloud here slowly descending from the sky and a dark cloud as thunder boomed from the parking lot. and the severe weather was spotted in central louisiana. a large tornado there moved across interstate 49 hitting the small community of lena. the storm packed strong winds and rain and lightning and the wide path of damage toppling trees and destroying buildings. no reports there of deaths or injuries. meanwhile, in mississippi the problem is rain, way too

much of it. heavy rain overnight caused this flooding outside of jackson and vehicles were under water in an apartment complex and there are also reports of down trees and power lines in that area. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. the same system could bring more severe weather farther south and that will track through today. that moisture will head in our direction for the same storm system and we're not worried about severe weather. and here is the satellite view with the nice shot that we've got. we started out with sunshine and we will start to see a mixing of clouds building through and this is the thin clouds that still look nice outside and the cloud coverage will start to pull in from the west and southwest as we progress through today and into tonight. temperatures are already climbing outside. we're at 58 at the airport and the official reading and 60, 64 and graduate hospital and sitting at 62 degrees and we're at 63 in touristdale and a pair

of them from summerton to fox. really nice temperatures outside and some spots are warmer than yesterday, and hopefully you got out for a little yesterday. it was really gorgeous sunday. today is a good day. we stayed dry and like i mentioned temperatures boost up. so the official highs today should be right in the mid 60s and in the suburbs, mostly mid-60s as well and lansdale, the same any even through the lehigh valley and burks county like allentown and 64 degrees and notice the cones here and we're increasing clouds through the day and still sun peeking through. in new jersey, trenton, 67 degrees along the shore and upper 60s and we have the effect from the ocean air and nice conditions still, and sunshine lingering around the shore through the later part of today. delaware, wilmington at 66 degrees and smyrna, you'll be at 68 for the forecast high this afternoon.

temperatu temperatures will continue to climb into tomorrow and the problem is when you get that kind of warmth that combines the energy or strength for stronger storms to develop. here is the hour-by-hour forecast. right now, thin clouds out there. we continue through the rest of the day those clouds may thicken up a bit and notice we still don't see any rain and you still don't need the rain, and as we go overnight here about 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. and we'll start with spotty rain and then it begins more steady around 11:00 to midnight and the yellow and oranges those could be spots for thunderstorms to develop overnight and you may hear rumbles of thunder as you try sleep this evening into the early hours. scattered activity is what we're talking about here that could be heavier and louder, as well. that will start to move out by around the morning commute, 8:00 a.m. and still lingering showers outside and possibly a stray pocket of heavier rain and roadways are already wet for your morning commute for your

cancer society coaches versus cancer program diana cocetti is the senior development. tell us about the program and why this is so important to you. >> it's really important because there's not a person watching, there's not a person driving up and down the streets of philadelphia that hasn't been impacted and kaens are doesn't fight fair. cancer is the bully in every school yard and it's been the bully forever and if you don't crush it you're not going to beat it. so to me, it's very personal and when we see people like dick smith who we're honoring saturday night and his fight, but it's not just his fight. it's his family's fight, his friend's fight and his business associate's fight. i have to be in. i'm all in, and i speak for all of the coaches in philadelphia, we don't want to beat cancer anymore. we want to crush it.

for us in hunting park with the latest on the investigation. matt, tell us how this all unfold would. >> reporter: vai, police, they are still trying to find those three teenage boys and they have a little bit more information to go on today. take a look at some video. this is the abandoned house on the 1300 block of west butler street. we went back there this morning. not much has changed. police say around 5:00 yesterday afternoon in broad daylight a 13-year-old girl was walking down the street when three teenage boys dragged her inside the home and assaulted her. police believe those boys are roughly 15 or 16 years old. the victim was taken to st. christopher's hospital where she was able to tell detectives what happened. meantime, neighbors tell us they still cannot believe what happened. >> that's ridiculous. for little kids to be raping little kids. what are we coming to? >> we only have nicknames on one or two of them right now. but we need the public's help. it's a very nasty and ugly crime? you heard the commissioner there

asking for the public's help, although the commissioners think the boys might be known in the neighborhood and police asking for anyone to come forward and so far there have not been any arrests. matt delucia, nbc 10 news. right now, delaware, a trial is starting for the three high school girls following a fight that left one of their classmates dead. tim furlong is watching the case and joins us live from wilmington. tim. >> reporter: three teenagers are behind me answers to charges that their actions led to a death. nobody disputes a fight in the bathroom at howard high school last april 21st ultimately led to the death of amy joyner-francis. the three were in a social media dispute and they tracked her down and led her into the school bathroom. one of the defendants threw the

first pufnch and the defendants then walked back to class laughing, but other students found amy who told them she'd been jumped, had trouble breathing and then she died. they could never have known amy had a rare heart issue. the heart issue is what caused her death and ultimately they could not have known that, a fight which is a pretty regular occurrence at howard high could have led to amy's death. we did tell you the attorney general sat on opening statements and we understand this trial could take up to two weeks and the witness list is long. there are child psychologists and cardiologists on there, and psychotherapists and a lot of people set to testify over the next couple of weeks and we are live outside from the county courthouse and i'm tim furlong, nbc 10 news. this just in. philadelphia police have arrested a husband for the stabbing death of his wife, 67-year-old anthony potter and his 63-year-old wife robin were both found stabbed inside the point brees home friday

afternoon. mrs. potter was pronounced dead at the scene and mr. poter was rushed to the hospital. police charged anthony potter with his wife's murder. and watch as the bike-riding robber goes after an 80-year-old woman in philadelphia's huntington park neighborhood. he snatched her purse right out of her hand as she walked home near hunting park avenue. this happened last week. the woman suffered minor injuries and if you happen to recognize this man on the bicycle, philadelphia police would like to hear from you. police also hope that this new video will help catch a robber in fentonville. the man burst into a sandwich shock on whitaker avenue awaiting the handgun. he went behind the counter and pointed the gun at a 21-year-old woman working the register. she gave them cash and he then took off. now your nbc 10 first-alert weather. it is opening day for the phillys and we are just four days away from the home opener as we take a look at citizens

12 mile per hour winds at wilmington and 6 millville and atlantic city and allentown, only three miles per hour and notice where the winds are coming in from, and we have the south flow and it will shift to the southwest pull as we get into tomorrow and that's where we will push in wammer air and moisture that will bring us the potential for rain throughout your tuesday. radar and satellite now though, it's a clear one. we have high-level clouds that are showing up well because we're thin on the satellite view and no rain for us right now. there will be rain, though, here is the storm center way to our west. look at the associated storms and we're talking some severe weather farther south. that moisture will start heading our direction by tonight. we will pick up that rain and we'll continue into your tuesday. so coming up in a few minutes we'll track that out a little more closely and we'll talk about the extended forecast through the rest of your workweek. >> we'll see you in a little bit, krystal.

new details now on a gang rape that was broadcast on facebook live. chicago police have charged several teenagers in the case and at least 40 people viewed the rape while it was airing live and none of them told police. afterwards, the victim was harassed on social media. police suspect five to six boys and one adult were involved. more arrests are expected. and a northern california man is facing kidnapping and assault charges after his young victim escaped by tricking him. police say timothy sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl after kidnapping her and she escaped by jumping from his moving truck and pretending to be dead. marvel called police to say his friend had jumped from his vehicle. when officers arrived the girl jumped up and he was arrested. police in new york city say a 13-year-old girl died after being hit from a subway train was trying to retrieve her cell phone that had fallen on to the tracks. the accident happened yesterday afternoon in queens.

a rider in the front of the train that passengers heard a bump and then started screaming. according to a subway worker, the operator tried to slow down and couldn't do it in time. medics rushed the teen to the hospital where she later died and transit officials issued a statement reminding riders about platform safety. >> they're reevaluating goalie michael norberg today as he continues to recover following his collapse saturday night. it happened midway through the first period and he was alone when he suddenly collapsed. medics took him off the ice in the stretcher and he spent the night at pennsylvania hospital for observation and tests. the team says he checked out okay. it's believed he was suffering the aftereffects of a severe upper respiratory infection and they faced the devils tomorrow in north jersey. >> a new jersey lawmaker wants to use a financial incentive to get people to become organ donors and his proposed bill

and the families. >> citizens bank park, we're looking at that time right there and a couple of bridges and just phenomenal. legos has been around for such a long time and seems to be soaring in popularity. >> it's been a brand that's been around since the 50s and it has creative learning. the movies has come out which has helped boost the brand itself and the legoland theme parks and legoland discovery centers and our site opens april 6th and it will be great. >> michael nieves, let me ask you about your job as a master model builder. what do you do besides build legos? >> that's pretty much what i do is build legos. i also teach kids how to build lego and any lego that breaks on the site, of course, that's my job is to spot the break and fix it. that's everything i do. >> were you involved in some of

here's the time line, in philadelphia, 65 and mid-60s and notice we'll go from partly cloudy to most low cloudy conditions as we end the daytime hours and that's when the showers should start to build in, by around midnight we could see some isolated thunderstorms popping up which means maybe a few rumbles of thunder as you're trying to sleep tonight. in the suburbs, same deal about the low to mid-60s are possible and there you go with showers, and 55 degrees with the cooldown as well by 7:00 p.m. and mid-50s and low 60s this afternoon and 65. 1:00 p.m. for delaware and same for new jersey along the jersey shore, and those increasing clouds and we start to see rain through delaware and new jersey, and it will be just a little later on that will move into parts of the jersey shore and all of us are getting the potential for rain as we go tonight into tomorrow and here we are timing out what i just showed you.

the clouds increasing by 11:00 any that's a period of a heavier rain or also isolated thunderstorm potential and showing it start through part of the western zones and extending across the map by 2:00 a.m. through parts of mercer county and starting to get close to burlington county. this isn't going to be a constant or completely widespread event when it comes to the thunderstorms and it won't be as heavy as the rains we saw last friday, but we are looking at the potential for periods of heavier rain. flood h in place for parts of mercer county and areas farther to the north and east. the thunderstorms start to weaken right around the time we see your morning rush, 8:00 a.m. and still showers passing through and wet roadways out there and just a great gray, dark day and in the afternoon more warming and we're talking a flow from the southwest which really boosts temperatures and

some of us making it to the 70s and scattered thunderstorms will be possible as we get through tuesday afternoon and everything does start to clear out as we get into the evening on tuesday. part of the problem tomorrow, now, too, with the strength, wind speeds the west-southwest, millville to dover and gusts up to 35 miles per hour, and overall tonight is not looking at the most beautiful of days and the temperatures continue to slow down here thursday and the next round of thunderstorms pass through at 61. there's friday, 53 degrees for the home opener and you see temperatures will start climb and look pretty good for the weekend and let's talk more closely about your phillys and nationals game for the home opener. 53 for first pitch and the icons, i don't want it is a this, but looking like we may be breezy with spotty showers. not heavy rain, but spotty
