arrived on the scene. drew, what have you learned? >> reporter: we now know four people have been shot as part of this two are dead, two others z-wrurd. we want to show you the scene down here where scene have been placing down evidence markers. one of those victims was shot multiple times including twice to his head. there are a lot of police department leaders down here. this is an intense investigation. we saw them looking for some of that evidence as well as searching around this property which is a public housing property. the director of public safety for philadelphia public housing is also down here on the scene. so far there have been no arrests. they have not found the gun. motive is unclear but that is a large scene, a lot of attention down here as well because there are four people shot multiple times. i want to tell you about the surviving victims. one was taken to the hospital in critical condition and the other in stable but some of those victims were shot multiple times. their ages rank from upper 20s

to early 30s. there is possible a drug connection out here. they have marked one of the evidence markers over there with where drug bottle was found so we'll look into that and we'll bring you updates just as soon as we get them down here. >> we'll check back in with you there. now the first alert team tracking rain and thunderstorms that will move in as you sleep tonight and it's the same system that produced tornadoes across the south yesterday. >> just take a look at this cell phone video. this twister was caught on camera in louisiana. people huddled inside of stores. this is that same tornado that flipped a mobile home killing a woman and her 3-year-old daughter. two people were also killed in mississippi. we are not expected tornadoes here but you could hear some thunder overnight. >> we're tracking a wet morning commute. meteorologist tammie souzza is here with the forecast for your neighborhood. >> this is not going to be

severe weather for us so i'm glad you mentioned that. it could be soggy overnight. umbrellas and ugly shoes if you're out tonight. right now the beam is sweeping the sky. we don't see anything over the metro area but we have just a few hours out toward harrisburg and headed toward allentown. not a real big deal at this point but as the evening progresses we're going to see quite a bit more. the clouds have started to manufacture to the area so we'll be cloudy overnight. here's that storm system. you actually have the main body of the storm back coming out of parts of missouri and you have the head of it that are going to cross the philadelphia area. a lot of this activity is going to be overnight tonight and then a few storms tomorrow morning during your commute, a little bit of break and then more in the afternoon. here we are right now at 5:00. take a look. here's what comes in between midnight and 4:00. that's when we'll do all the rumbling. that's not something you want to

deal with. let's look at what's going to happen temperature wise. we were in the mid 60s and before dawn we're going to start to see temperatures back on the rise. so when i come back in a few minutes we'll time everything out for tomorrow and we'll take a look at an even bigger storm coming at us later in the week. >> thank you. delaware teenager's life was cut short after a group of girls attacked her in a high school bathroom. tonight the three classmates involved with her death face possible punishment. no jury, a judge will decide their fate. >> tim furlong has been covering this case since the death of amy frances last year. he joins us live from that courthouse in wilmington. >> reporter: yes. i spent a lot of times on the steps today. a judge inside just wrapped up day one of the trial. he's going to make all the decisions. today we had a lot of talk about social media evidence, how it led to the fight and how it was

investigated after amy frances esdeath. >> skyforce10 over howard high school nearly one year ago. in opening statements today prosecutors told the judge that after a dispute that played out over social media. one of the girls threw a punch and continual beat her in the head and body until she and her two codefendants left the bathroom laughing. it was captured on senate chat. after the building amy laid on the floor and told a witness the girls had jumped her then she went into cardiac arrest and died minutes later. in their opening statements, they argued amy had a rare heart condition and there was no way that punching amy would lead to her death. we heard from a howard high school employee and couple of amy's friends who knew about the fight and were there as she died after the fight in the bathroom. the defendants are charged at juveniles. we're expecting to hear from

card yolist and school psychologies. we're going to talk with a family spokesperson. the family's never gone on tv to talk about this or done any interviews. so a spokesperson is going to talk about what it's been like for them on day one of this trial. we're live in wilmington tonight. tim furlong, nbc10 news. >> a teenage girl remains hospitalized tonight. her attackers still on the run. the 13-year-old was coaxed and dragged into this abandoned home on west butler avenue at 5:00 on sunday. that's according to police. now investigators are looking for three attackers between 15 and 16 years old. residents say the home is a haven for squatters and doors and windows are not sealed. they want answers and for police to be vigilant in the area. >> so if it happened in plain day light, the doors is open, it was probably somebody that the little girl probably knew or something like that.

>> police commissioner ross called the crime ugly and nasty. anyone with information about the suspects asked to call police special victims unit. >> 11 people are dead, 20 are hurt after an explosion tore through a subway train in russia. jim rosenfield is live in the newsroom. >> russia's second largest city and it comes during president vladimir putin's visit to that city. the train was between two stations before that explosion went off. it blew out two doors and a lot of windows and second explosive device was found. that one did not detonate. russian investigators say they're exploring all possible causes including terrorism. officials say the subway system will be closed until they're giving the all clear, eyewitnesses said someone through a backpack into a train car before it left the platform but so far russian investigators have not confirmed that.

morning and another one mid-to late afternoon. then the whole thing clears out. umbrellas and ugly shoes. the benefit tomorrow is between the storms we'll get sunshine and not everybody is going to be looking at thunderstorms tomorrow. there is something to look forward to. right now the clouds have moved in to the area. this is our satellite imagery so we will be overcast for the remainder of the evening and overnight hours. if we put the beam into motion, you can see a few showers out from harrisburg to allentown but it looks like for the most part we're dry right now but this is what we're watching. we're tracking this batch of showers and storms. it's out ahead of the main body of the storm system which if you look at this thing, this storm system is way back here and it's going to stay parked back here for a couple of days. and then it's going to bring us more rain and heavy rain on thursday. we're in the 60s across the area. we have the cloud cover out there. we are going to be watching the clouds continue to thicken overnight tonight and then the

first of the rain comes in between about 10 and 11. then we'll see maybe a clap of thunder overnight into about 6:00 in the morning. this is your morning commute. the heaviest storms should be out of here. we get a little bit of break in the afternoon here and there and then little bit more is going to move through during the evening rush and then we clear out for what is a beautiful wednesday. that is our second beautiful day this week so enjoy it while it lasts because things aren't going to stay dry. this is your thursday. we're going to head right into showers and perhaps even some stronger severe storms on thursday and then a drizzly mess for the opening day of the phillies. how much rain? through tomorrow looks like we could get up an inch in some spots. when we take that all the way through thursday, we double that. this could be a two inch rain that we see two times this week. temperatures right now. we made it all the way up to 67. 64 right now.

>> we have new information about the deadly shooting in northeast philadelphia. we've been following this breaking news for the past 90 minutes. >> a total of four people have been shot. drew smith has been gathering information at the scene. what can you tell us now? >> reporter: since we joined you, you can see what the crime scene unit has done out here. there are at least 27 evidence markers out here. there was a lot of shots fired. there's also a piece of evidence marked which is a pill bottle down next to a pool of blood.

all of these evidence -- i want to update you on what we know about the victims. there are four of them, two have been pronounced dead, one we just checked in is extremely critical condition at the hospital. the other one is stable. there have not been any arrests in this shooting. i was speaking to the neighbors here and they told me they heard all of those shots ring out. they opened their door, they saw bodies on the ground. unclear of who was the gunman, where they may have gone. also spoke to some students at a high school across the street. they said it was just around the time that school was letting out. that's when they heard the gun shot. she was actually in the front office and they locked that school down and they've cancelled the after school activities over there. we are trying to get an update from department leaders. there are several chief inspectors over here as well as detectives who are looking into this crime. we hope to bring you some new developments coming up at 6:00. live in north philadelphia, drew

smith, nbc10 news. >> thank you, drew z-plnks right now at 5:30. several new developments today leading up to bill cosby's trial. the judge expects the trial to last only two weeks. we also got new information about the jury selection process. nbc10 news's deanna durante joins us live from the montgomery county courtroom in norristown. >> the judge tackled several issues today including jury selection. >> reporter: for now the judge says he wants to go with the standard pennsylvania jury selection process, which means the fight the defense requests that they wanted a more complicated questionnaire going out, the judge said he'd rather the potential jury pull not know what case they could be serving on. it's become pretty standard now as the defense works to keep evidence against bill cosby out of the case, a few fans gather outside the courthouse and cheer as he walks in. cosby says very little to them. inside court today he was chatty and heard loudly joking with courtroom staff. his lawyers are trying to keep

his 1991 book and media interview about the book out of the courtroom. he makes reference to an unsuccessfully attempt to slipping it in the drinks of girls. prosecutors say this shows that cosby has knowledge of a date rape drug and say it's crucial to the case. cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in his home in 2004. the woman sued cosby after prosecutors back then declined to file charges against him. details of the settlement were not made public and defense lawyers want to keep it that way, arguing a jury should not hear the terms of that agreement. the judge is yet to decide if that will come into the case or not as well as a tv interview where cosby is recorded as saying spanish fly is a drug all boys from 11 on up to death will want saying quote a single drop in a woman's drink and she's yours. cosby cannot quote cling to the cloak of comedy to avoid cul

paability, the judge is expecting this trial to last two weeks. he's hoping to get to allegheny county where that jury will come from sometime in may. it will be a jury of 12 with six alternates. reporting live in norristown, deanna durante, nbc10 news. >> two men are facing murder charges tonight in the killing of a 13-year-old boy in philadelphia's. presser was shot in the head at the goldfish restaurant on west park avenue march 10th. he died nine days later. officers arrested and charged 18-year-old christopher sutherland last wednesday. 19-year-old jons the suspected shooter was arrested yesterday. they were able to track down the men from this surveillance photo from the scene. they believe an argument started that shooting. >> don't let today's weather fool you. we are gearing up for more rain.

in the lehigh valley and 64 in delaware. we have cloud cover out there. overcast skies will be with us through the evening. you can see it's already advanced and moved into the area. a few rain showers still well off to the west. they can't quite make it into the area. that's going to change because we have this huge batch of rain that's moving in from down here to the south of us and all of this is going to be moving up to the north across philly tonight. the good news is i think that the heaviest of the rain is going to be over before the morning commute and then we're going to be looking at perhaps isolated thunderstorms in the morning and again in the afternoon with highs tomorrow that are going to be reaching well into the 70s, maybe even a few 80s in delaware. wednesday is our transition day. it'll be a decent day but we'll talk about thursday when i come back because the main body of this storm system, that's going to be coming through the area and we're going to be looking at some strong storms while parts of the upper midwest will be

these showers have been trying to make their way toward allentown all evening long but still the atmosphere has to moisten up. we're not looking at that happening at this point. this is what we're watching as this line of showers and storms making its way toward philly. what we have back here is the center of the low pressure still coming out of the midwest. this upper level low and it's going to key pieces of energy in our direction. the whole thing ends up our way thursday. we're going to be watching what goes on out to the west of us for a couple of days out there. so here's how we're going to prak this whole thing down. hour by hour. we're going to be in the 60s through this evening, no rain yet but we hit about 12:30 just after midnight and we see some thunderstorms coming through the area. we drop into the low and mid-50s. temperatures start to climb toward dawn. at 8:00 your morning commute. you could be looking at a scattered shower or isolated storms. that will boost us well into the

70s. 77 is going to be our official high tomorrow in philly. tomorrow evening, we'll see maybe a shower or symptom for the mid-part of the evening commute and wednesday we wake up, we see sunshine, it's our transitional day. a beautiful day on wednesday, but look what happens. thursday, here comes that main body of that storm system bringing us what could be strong or severe storms all day on thursday through philadelphia. we're going to have to keep an eye on that and big snow for the upper midwest. severe weather threat for thursday at this point, it looks like it could be a medium threat for flooding and damaging wind. lightning we'll see that. we're going to be updating this and keeping an eye on it. here is your phillies versus the nationals for opening day. breezy and cool. rain with drizzle out there and we'll be lucky to make it into the upper 40s. let's go overnight tonight. rain and thunderstorms develop. we're going to be dropping into those 50s overnight tonight. a fewer 40s around the area.

first arrived. they were in the area. they heard the shots. they were so close to this action. now we're told that there were two men who left possibly a van started heading east on styles street. that's when they opened fire on four men. we're told two of those were pronounced early on in this investigation. the two others were taken to the hospital where they are in critical condition. right now we spoke to some neighbors in this area who were alarmed, some of them were in the shower. they heard shots ring out. we just spoke to a neighbor that said she was bringing her kids home from school and she is alarmed by this. >> i think this is ridiculous. it's school time and kids are trying to get home from school and i think it is unsafe, really, for kids to be running around and then open fire come about and people are laid there dead and the kids have to walk past a dead body. it's crazy. >> reporter: we'
