cydney long is joining us live from the police department. >> has the surviving victim spoken about what happened? >> reporter: i can tell you detectives did speak to the lone survivor, but so far, he has been uncontinuative. he remains in critical condition can. he may not realize his trends are deceased. detectives will speak to him again this evening. on the same sidewalk where 25 bullets went flying, a matter of footsteps from a playground. >> they get frustrated and blow stuff out of proportion. >> police say the motive was an argument between the two groups of men, but so far they can't say why. >> i cannot because so far we haven't gotten any witnesses that have come forward.

police fighting a no-snitch attitude. they are scouring businesses for footage of suspects of an suv. >> two males walked up to the victims and fired multiple times between 25 and 25 shots wered striking four of them. >> with police patrolling in the neighborhood, both visible and unmarked patrols to prevent retaliati retaliation. >> i feel safer now. every corner i see police. >> she fears that will change. >> i wouldn't feel comfortable strolling down the street. >> for her sake and those gunned down, she hopes witnesses will speak up. >> 25 shots were fired in broad daylight. they have no names on them. it could have hit an innocent kid or earn. >> we ask police not ready to are lease images in this case. they are combing through hours of video from that neighborhood. they also say that all four of the victims in this case were

well known to police and one of the men who died was carrying a loaded weapon. i'm cydney long, nbc 10 news. >> new tonight, the philadelphia housing authority adding more money to this. they are offering $10,000. the housing authority owns apartmented near where the murders happened. turning to our weather, a dreary day. takes a nice turn. this is the live look at the ben franklin bridge. a significant warm-up today that will lead a sunny tomorrow. chief meteorologist glenn schwartz is here with a look at what to expect in our neighborhood. >> you got our attention with this talk of severe storms. >> that's coming on thursday. it's too bad the fillies aren't playing tonight because the weather is really turning out nice. the rain, the isolated showers, pretty much moved past the area. still in the trenton area.

they are isolated and move iing the east. the first alert for thursday for the entire area because of heavy rain, localized flooding and severe thunderstorms. after all the rain we have had recently won't take a lot of rain to produce flood iing. look how warm it is. 75 degrees in philadelphia. 77 in wilmington and dover. it's 58 degrees in trenton. it's not warm everywhere. it's colder than it was this time yesterday. 18 degrees warmer and 24 degrees warmer in atlantic city then it was just 24 hours ago. it's going to be a warm evening and a mild overnight by tomorrow morning.

>> day one is complete and a jury has heard opening statements in a trial where a man is charged with triggering a manhu manhunt. eric frein charged with killing one trooper and wounding another three years ago. prosecutors say frein wanted a revolution. . the defense says the jury needs to remember frein is innocent until proven guilty. testimony just. wrapped up a few minutes ago. what did jurors hear today? >> reporter: they heard a lot. what they saw could be very important here. the prosecution laid out its entire case using a very impactful power point presentation. now eric frein was sitting at the defense table the whole time. his eyes also glued on the screen. the same screens the jurors were watching. it showed video of the troopers

being shot. it showed the rescue attempt. the state troopers at the barracks trying to get out there and rescue one of their own. the panic of a dispatcher who was on a phone call and one of those bullets hit the bullet proof glass on the other side of the desk where she was sitting. later in the day we did hear from that dispatcher who gave tearful testimony. she talked about suting there, being on the call, hearing the officer's last words that he was asking for help. he was gurgling and his lungs were filling with blood. then she also described what it was like being trapped in that bar rack as emts tried to save his life and rescue another injured trooper. eric frein not taking the stand. the defense made a short opening statement telling the jury to keep an open mind ask they will hear from him in a video taped fegs he gave to pennsylvania state police.

>> now to this new video at 6:00 of an attempted abduction in philadelphia. surveillance cameras captured a man walking up to a baby and grabbing that child. you can see thoses pushing him away. this all happened sunday on lo cust street. police want to talk to the parents in this video. they do know who the attempted abductor is. a dive team pulled a body from the water. the medical examiner is working to find out who it is and we're working to find out how that person died. from the enginejersey shore fastest route connecting avalon and the city have shut down. the towns ends inlet bridge is closed. an inspection showed dete

he was an actor at the independence national historic park and was 75 years old. five state-owned universities in pennsylvania are getting warned of possible layoffs and program cuts. those cuts would happen in the 2018-2019 school year. faculty have been notified. right now the's higher education system is struggling with an enb rollment drop. work underway on a $1.5 million trail and could impact your morning commute. crews are working on the 202 gateway trail. there are lane closures week days from 7:00 to 3:00 on river road between lower york road and chapel road. work is set to wrap up in the fall. and new at 6:00, a $1 million promise from delaware. the state promising that much in taxpayer money to delmon tee fresh produce. the producer will use a quarter of that money will hire 30 full-time workers and they are

workers breathing a sigh of relief tonight at a company that's bye-bye around for decades. they just learned they are going to keep their jobs making major league baseball uniforms for years to come. major league baseball announcing underarmour would take over in a few years, but today workers learned a philly native with a company called fanatics is buying majestic. he's cut a deal with underarmor to continue making all the jerseys is and gear here in the same facility with the same workers. >> workers here have produced quality products with an attention to detail that our

7 in parts of delaware. but in some areas cooling off here. parts of new jersey in the 50s. what's going on here? let's take a look into new jersey. can see they are at 75. turnersville, 76. medford at 77. cooler to the north. florence at 63. in the township. . 55 in princeton. the little front that's come down from the northeast. a little back-door front we'll keep an eye on helping to trigger some showers up near the polk northeast. a couple showers around the trenton area. that's about it. we had rain overnight. a little bit earlier this morning and then things have quieted down. but this is not quiet. this is a big swirl here of pretty intense storm system.
