responsible. severe weather strikes the south and midwest and is headed this way. >> right now at 11:00, a severe storm threat. take a look at the nbc 10 radar. you can see the storms surrounding us to the south and west. the rain will start overnight and get worse during the day. >> we have issued a first alert and tammy souza is here with all the details for your neighborhood. >> it looks like a very rough day tomorrow that starts shortly after midnight. let's look at the severe thunderstorm threat. the biggest threat for the lehigh valley and burks county is going to be flooding. we could see 1 to 2 inches of rain. in some places 3 inches of rain. the i-95 corridor to the suburbs, damaging winds with microbursts possible. and heavy rain, again with

possible flooding. south jersey and the jersey shore, strong to severe storms with microbursts possible. that's something to bear in mind. that's where we could see microbursts. and south of delaware we could see tornados. basically there is no rain out here right now but it is picking up the moisture in the air and they turned it on because of this. these are the storms racing towards us. they are only 300 miles away from us and they are all part of this large system that has created havoc with tornados and you can see the main body of the system to the west of us. we're going to see these storms moving in in the next three to four hours. we're going to talk about neighborhood to neighborhood with all this when we come back. mon senior arrested.

he stole $535,000 over the years and we learned how he has spent that money. i know you also spoke to his attorney. >> and the attorney tells me he is ashamed and remorseful. a lot of that money was spent on fancy dinners and concert tickets. but a lot of it was spent in a casino. villa st. joseph is a retirement home for catholic priests. according to his attorney, he is expected to plead guilty to stealing more than half a million dollars from the facility. >> he is a priest and you know, he is told be a child of god and help people. >> reporter: the 77-year-old has full access to the villa's account. and the account was frozen last year when they were made aware

of irregularities. but the theft began as early as december of 2007. >> what questions do you have? >> how did you get away with that for nine years. what kind of administration was over there that one person had that access to that money. >> reporter: the money came from life insurance policies of priests who died and parishioners who left gifts in their wills. federal prosecutors say that he gambled and made frequent atm withdrawals and purchases at harrah's casino. >> i feel that is sad. >> reporter: he is currently on administrative leave facing four counts of wire fraud and the responsibility of spending the rest of his life in prison. >> reporter: the attorney says that it is important to remember the good he has done for the church. he helped people with drug and alcohol addictions and says that the priest is cooperating fully with the investigation.

nbc 10 news. emotional testimony today at the eric frein murder trial. several troopers took the stand describing how they responded to the deadly ambush at the blocking grove barracks in 2014. frein is accused of killing a corporal and injuring another. he slapped dixon and said i was looking for any signs of life, just looking into his eyes, there was nothing. frein led authorities on a 48-day manhunt before his capture. follow up now to a story you saw first on nbc 10. investigators have found the students responsible for this attack at king of prussia mall. and we know more about the motive tonight. >> reporter: police are saying that caught on camera assault was not a random attack but

actually targeted. we are also learning more about the juvenile suspects. they are middle schoolers, very young and could be facing serious charges. the viral video getting reaction online. >> i'm just like, we're teens. we're not supposed to be doing this stuff. >> reporter: and shoppers in the parking lot. >> they should be in school. >> reporter: police reveal some of the suspects are students at radnor middle school, barely teenagers. the school said in a statement we were disheartened to learn from police that students from our school may have been involved. we do not tolerate this type of behavior. >> it was horrifying. >> reporter: the mom of the victim insists he was jumped at random and never met his attackers. >> thank goodness there is videos and technology is hopefully going to help get he's kids and teach them a lesson. >> reporter: but police dispute

that saying he broke up a fight with those same kids a few weeks back. the nation's second largest mall is a safe place to shop. each year 20 million people visit the king of prussia mall and average five assaults. the shockley family out shopping today not deterred by a few kids. >> we got to shop at the mall. we work to have fun and work to shop not to run away from our problems and issues that's going on. >> reporter: police say the juvenile suspects have been banned from the mall by mall security. meantime the mall officials met with local police to adjust their security measures to make sure a fight like this does not happen again. randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. local immigrant leaders held a meeting to plan for an upcoming day without immigrants. the goal is to show how

important immigrants are to the economy. this would be the second day without immigrants protest in the past three months. this is video from february 16th when imgrants rallied in a show of solidarity against the trump administration. tonight we are getting a glimpse at one plan for the border wall between the u.s. and mexico. the designs were submitted to the department of homeland security. you can see both solid concrete and see through renderings of the wall. this is one of the companies that put in a bid. they hope to hear from the administration in the next week or so. syria's leader is in the cross hairs of president donald trump tonight after a suspected chemical attack that the president said crossed a lot of lines. yesterday's attack is responsible for the deaths of 80 people including women and children. president trump said the images of the victims made a deep

yellow caution tape is going up in philadelphia neighborhoods but it's not there to mark off crime scenes. the displays are calling out street harassment against women. it is part of a public art project that is popping up near schools, construction sites and other public places where street harassment might be a problem. >> it's the fact that we're viewed as objects that you can just holler at. >> where are we that women can't walk down the street without people calling things at them. >> the aim is to raise awareness about unwanted stares and comments and end rape culture. philadelphia leaders are calling it an eviction crisis. people kicked out of their homes many times illegally. keetsz jon keith jones has more. >> reporter: these pictures will probably shock you. stories of infestation of

schools. >> reporter: this council woman calls it a crisis. landlords without rights to rent their home. >> but the most important thing that we need is for people to organize and raise up the visibility of this issue. >> reporter: and that is just what this tenant did tonight. the council woman told me they're in budget season and the city will work to get resources on behalf of the tenants. the humane society of burks county is seeking justice for this 1-year-old cat. they named her miracle macy. she was tied in a trash bag and downed with gasoline after being crushed in a garbage truck. a $1,000 reward is offered for information that leads to a conviction in the case. a philadelphia animal shelter is overflowing with cats and they're hoping you can help find good homes for the animals.

80 cats are there after being rescued from hoarding situations. most are shy and anti-social. >> they don't like being pet. they are terrified. it's not their fault. they are just scared to be here and it's difficult to then acclimate them into an adoptive home. >> reporter: adopt a less adoptable feline friend. they are offering adoption fees of $10 on selected cats. a local university is battling an issue that is rarely talked about, students struggling to pay for food on campus. the food pantry was stocked with canned goods, cereals, soups and grab and go bags. the college found that between 11 and 18% of students don't always get enough food. amazon is paying back for

rain. be aware of that. the low lying areas that typically flood are the ones to watch out for. no storms, no rain in our area yet but it is knocking on the door. about 300 miles away and should be here around 2:00. this morning we have a leading line right here with strong storms but they are beginning to diminish a little bit and weaken. but the main body is moving towards cincinnati. it is going to be a long day tomorrow. and it doesn't clear the area until friday night. it will be a soggy stretch for a while. let's take a look at what's going on. where you see the orange is the greatest risk for torrennados tomorrow. you can see the yellow and the green. what does that mean? let's take a look. this is the risk assessment bar. and when you are talking about a slight risk, you are down near the mid to lower area and taking a look at what you can expect if you are south of the metro area and in the -- probably the best

area for severe weather, you can see a short-lived not wide-spread outbreak of maybe severe storms. also maybe a tornado or two but i think that will be in maryland and virginia. scattered wind damage and 1 to 2 inch hail. otherwise we'll see small hail and gusty winds. and this is your hour-by-hour-forecast. by 2:30 we have storms moving through and some rain. the winds out of the east are undercutting the storms. look at 6:00 in the morning, though, a strong batch of storms and heavy rain from philly down to atlantic city and scattered showers and storms through the day. a little bit of recharging early afternoon. i think the strongest storms between about 12:00 and 2:00, maybe as late as 4:00 come through the philly area. that's when we have to be aware of damaging winds and heavy rain. things look like they're

improving. they will turn westerly on friday. but look at the cold air and a rain/snow mix toward harrisburg and sprinkles for the phillies home opener. it will be a chilly, blustery day. 40s is all we can muster and winds out of the west 15 to 20 miles an hour and the potential for maybe drizzle or a light shower. i'll have the ten-day at the end of the newscast. also tonight from trump to rock 'n roll. the taj mahal casino getting a makeover and we're getting a first glimpse.
