rain could impact the team's home opener tonight. >> this shows where the heaviest rain is falling as the storms are heading in our direction. good morning. i'm vai sikahema. >> and i'm tracy davidson. we have a dreary morning. we have issued a first alert because of flooding and damaging winds. katie is live in northeast philadelphia. we begin with erica martin who is tracking which areas could be hit hardest. >> that's right. we just saw the radar. i wanted to add satellite as an overlay. one of the biggest issues is areas of dense fog and mist coming downright now. sating light and radar doing a great job depicting what's headed our direction from the southwest to the northeast. i wanted to show you a wider

sp perspective. we have one that's starting to develop over the mid-atlantic. i want you to see here, this is your warm front, your frontal boundary. as it cons to work its way forward it will destabilize the atmosphere enough for this cold front to trigger thunderstorms in about an hour or so. my concern is we do have a lot of clouds. i don't think the atmosphere is very unstable right now. we'll track this to see how this system will effect how you live. current temperatures right now, notice lots of 50s. to the north we have 43 for allentown and 46 for philadelphia and 43 for trenton. we do have the warmer air moving in fro south to north. you're already seeing a shift in those winds. this is one of those key ingredients that we need.

speeds are a little bit down. it is making higher drive time 17 minutes from the blue route to the vine. northeast philly watching the crash northbound. now we are seeing green moving through. it is pretty much cleared out of the way. watch for residual delays in both directions. this has been a reported flooding area on airport road for a few days now. it is closed between highway 37 and 95. it won't help to have the added rain today. more flooding started yesterday as well. this is around route 130. a modified exit, so definitely check before you head out the door. frein is in the hospital

fires. someone started a fire by houring flamable liquid on a porch this morning. fire marshal trying to determine if it was connected to a car fire that happened around the same time a block away. a delaware county senior accused of stealing money and blowing it on casino visits and concerts. he is charged with embezzling more than a thousand dollars. he skimmed the money for nearly nine years. the 77-year-old priest the expected to plead guilty. his lawyer says he is remorseful and ashamed. police now say several middle school students are responsible for this fight. cell phone video quickly went viral. police confirm that the juvenile suspects are students at radner

middle school. in a statement school officials say we were disheartened to learn that students from our school may have been involved. we do not tolerate this type of behavior. these students are now banned from the mall. closing arguments expected in the trial of a death of a high school classmate. a child psychologist testified the girls could not have foreseen she would have died in the fistfight. >> philadelphia clergy and city officials will gather to address concerns about gun violence following this week's deadly shooting that killed three people and injured another. a $70,000 reward is being

was tracking which areas could be hardest hit neighborhood by neighborhood. >> really this will be the story for the rest of the afternoon into the evening hours. right now we are seeing rain headed in our direction. this is a developing low to the southwest. this is a pretty massive storm. we are starting to see all of this heading our direction. we are also starting to see lightning strikes for montgomery county and new castle county. you can see how quickly it is moving in our direction. that's because we do have a strong system developing to the southwest across the peidmont. it is moving through parts of chester county. delaware and new castle you can see them in the oranges and the yellows. again, the concern is that we do have lightning. we also have the potential for some flooding. it looks like we do have an aerial flood watch that has been issued until later tonight and

that's because it looks like we will have prolonged time of this rain moving through the region. it does allow for flooding to occur. as we zoom towards the north allentown seeing lighting and mad r moderate down topourdownpours. it is foggy right now and misty. we do have an on shore influence. as the warm front sweeps through it will allow the area to trigger isolated thunderstorms. we'll time it out for you and talk about what we expect. not only do we have rain coming in tomorrow, we do have light showers and we are also tracking a pretty decent weekend but even better, next week, monday and tuesday we are seeing 80s. back to you. >> thank you. that's what it looks like on the radar.

laura is from the greater coalition against hunger. thanks for being here. >> thanks for having me. >> tell us more about your organization. >> the coalition against hunger works to alleviate hunger. we support over 100 food pantries. we help people connect to benefits they need to feed their families and do advocacy to make sure programs are strong. >> and some people think that hunger is homeless. >> yes. >> there are a lot of people who go to work and it just doesn't -- >> it's true. a lot of folks experiencing hunger in our region are seniors, people with disabilities. the largest group is children. the walk gns huagainst hunger i designed to help pantries that feed folks and raise money to keep the doors open. >> tell us more about the walk.

northward and cold front follows suit it looks like we have rounds of thunderstorms headed in our direction. satellite showing us how the wind right now is starting to shift. we are seeing some easterlies, southeasterlies and southerlies starting to move on up. warmer air moving in. it looks like this is right where your warm front is starting to approach again. our viewing area, looks like you'll see warmer numbers coming into place. we're seeing temperatures climb just a bit. we were seeing 43 and 47 for you. mount holly 45. warmer at 56 and dover currently at 55 degrees. that's telling me we do have that warmer air moving into our area, which will destabilize and once that cold front sweeps on through we have the threat of thunderstorms. we have a wind advisory that has been issued until 5:00 p.m.

today for atlantic and ocean counties. we do expect really strong wind speeds and wind gusts especially along the shore. let's time out hour by hour our wind gusts starting at 11:30 a.m. you start to see the increases. we are seeing 48 miles per hour increases. by 5:00 p.m. stronger wind gusts. mount holly 43 and trenton 43 miles per hour wind gusts for you. doppler is picking up on isol e isolated lightning moving through. we do have thunderstorms moving in southwest to northeast. to the southwest seeing hail being reported. ing in in our viewing area. you're seeing oranges and some yellows and then some lightning. we have seeing mainly passing

showers with moderate showers moving through chester and delaware county and lehigh valley starting to see the approach of heavier downpours moving through. hour by hour forecast starting this at is 11:30 a.m. stronger thunderstorms by 2:00 p.m. by 4:00 p.m. everything starts to move northward. we start to see a clearing. the ten day on ten shows us temperatures for tomorrow. phillies home opener 49 degrees. below average for this time of year. we normally see 60. we climb into the upper 60s and back into the 70s by wednesday. thursday, friday and saturday, next week it looks like we are going to stay in the 60s. so right now if you follow us we'll give you more updates on these thunderstorms. more news coming up after the break.
