philadelphia 59 degrees. winds are out of the northwest 16 miles per hour. but gusting up to 25 miles per hour as ted just mentioned. current temperatures in and around the philly metro area mid to upper 50s. port richmond at 58. and somerton currently at 57 degrees. we do have this area, this quick little moving trough here. in other words, we're seeing some clouds moving in from the northwest to the southeast. what that does do is increase the wind speeds and wind gusts and bring us some clouds. we have an area of high pressure just to the southwest and that will be the weather maker for the next couple of days. dover 60-mile-per-hour for you. millville 15 for you. it will stay a little windy and gusty through later tonight. we're going to start to see improvement in the overnight hours toward tomorrow. temperatures pretty much in the 50s through tonight.

i am tracking 80s by monday. remember, you can track the changing temperatures and get your neighborhood forecast delivered right to your phone with the nbc 10 app. the united states is vowing to keep up the pressure on syria, after an intense nighttime wave of missile strikes from u.s. ships. syrian activists and state media say the air strike on a northern village held by the islamic state group has killed at least 13 civilians. the air base hit by a u.s. missile attack thursday resumed operations today. russia, an ally of syria, calls the u.s. air strikes an act much aggression. moscow denies syria's president was behind the chemical attack that president trump used as justification for the air strikes. amid the growing tensions, a new exhibit at penn museum hopes to give the public a deep dive into the syrian culture caught in the cross fire.

a lot more. >> joining brokaw on stage today was producer karen curry. new at 6:00, a delaware man is charged with human trafficking after police say he forced a woman to have sex with men. 55-year-old jorge arcinieja of georgetown was arrested. investigators are trying to identify anyone else who may have been involved in the operation. philadelphia police have arrested a man who they say set three separate fires in the course of a month. one of the fires he allegedly set damaged the famous port street deli in february. this is surveillance video taken near the deli that night. juan barkley is facing several charges, including arson. new details on the story out of delaware county that we first brought you last night at 11:00. springfield township police say this jewish cemetery was not vandalized. a viewer contacted us yesterday after noticing about 30

headstones cracked or on the ground at mount sharon cemetery. cemetery officials tell the pris the gravestones are on the ground because of possible environmental factors, not vandalism. in south jersey, two eastbound lanes are still closed on admiral wilson boulevard in camden after a fire under a bridge this morning. crews are still inspecting that span tonight. all lanes were closed in both directions around 6:30 this morning, while firefighters put out the blaze under the bridge. officials say it looks like it was accidental. one person was taken to the hospital for burns. help from above when seconds count. how local police are using drones to save people from drowning. and a roof ripped apart. the wild weather blamed for this destruction caught on camera.

the force showed off its new drones for us at tubman park. they're using the drones to get to swimmers in distress as quickly as possible. in the amount of time it takes police to gear up and get a boat out to rescue someone, they can launch the drone and drop a flotation device to someone who needs it.

>> what we want to do is utilize the drone to get a flotation device that will self-deploy that the swimmer can pick up and hold on to until she can be reached by either a boat or helicopter. >> this is video of a mock rescue the department has five drones right now. police tell us in addition to helping people in the water, they'll use the drowns for crowd control, traffic management, finding lost kids and surveying crime scenes. it's another sign of spring. the first day of trout season in new jersey. a couple of people were taking advantage of the first day at haden lake in audubon today. one man was teaching his granddaughter about fishing and patience. >> it's nice to be outside even if the fish aren't biting. >> fishing licenses and trout stands are available online and at lbs agents across the garden state. delaware county, the chester creek trail is now open. more nice weather coming our

forecast. erika, we're looking forward to the big warm-up. >> this is the forecast i dream of giving. a live look outside. we're seeing partly cloudy skies. mid and upper level clouds. the wispy clouds right there, cirrus clouds. you can see that we do have some clouds moving through. and you can tell they're mid and upper level clouds because they're brighter white there. however, we do have a clearing in store. what that is doing is increasing the wind speeds and wind gusts. right now we have wind speeds topping out at 16 miles per hour in philadelphia. 15 in millville. a little chilly right now. however, that did not stop the temperatures from climbing today. we topped out at 60 degrees. the average high is 61. that record high looks really nice. 90 back in 1979.

lots of upper 50s. one low 60s for dover. trenton 59 for you along with philadelphia. allentown, nice and pretty fair, i think. 58 degrees. a really nice evening in store. afternoon highs, on thursday we did see temperatures top out at 59 degrees. 51 on friday. today we saw 60. we're only climbing into the upper 60s, maybe low 70s by tomorrow and 80s by monday. we have this area of high pressure developing just to the southwest. notice how expansive it is. this is what we call a dome of high pressure. all of this will influence our weather, especially as it continues to work eastward toward our region. now, wind forecasts now coming out of the northwest. but as that high prerk ur system really influences our area, we'll start to see a warm front lifting through. i'm going to pause this tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. notice how we see the variable winds coming from every direction, that's the sign that

the warm front is starting to lift into our region. by 10:00 p.m. on sunday, i've got the word warm right here, because we have the nice southerly winds which are going to increase those temperatures, which means we're seeing 80s by monday. but before we get there, tomorrow's high temperature, 69 degrees. overnight lows for tonight in the upper 30s to low 40s. that's because we are going to see some clearing. but the winds will start to diminish overnight tonight. lots of sunshine for your sunday. so a sunny sunday in the forecast. mostly sunny skies on monday and tuesday. warm-up temperatures, well above average this time of year. you can see here, this is a cold front that's going to start to move through. we may see some light showers overnight tuesday into wednesday. right now, mostly cloudy skies. temperatures dip in the 70s. upper 60s by thursday. mid-60s friday and saturday. farther out here, sunday, monday, we're seeing temperatures climb back into the 70s.
