we are warming up. we've already hit 70, and the temperatures will climb even higher in the days ahead. on this palm sunday, deadly blasts go off inside two churches in egypt. tonight, we're seeing new video of one of the bombings caught on camera. the nfl draft is weeks away, but some road closures start in just hours. we've got you covered with the timing and location. a stunning sunday evening outside. here is a live look from center city from our camera atop the lowe's hotel. if you thought today was nice, it's only going to get more pleasant. good evening, i'm rosemary conors. we begin tonight with the warm weather that will get better in the week ahead. we have team coverage with erika

martin and let's go live in manayunk where lawyer ahn joins us now. >> reporter: it was the food festival that officially ended at 5:00, but as you can see it's still pretty crowded out here. it's bustling on the sidewalks, and even as people are leaving, we've been noticing another wave of people coming in on bikes out for their evening ride. everyone just trying to soak up as much sunshine today as possible. p sunglasses and short sleeves for the manayunk street festival. today it's the food and the weather drawing the crowd to main street. >> got a little cooped up after all that rain that we had. >> nick and his wife alison came here with their 11-month-old twins. >> how nice what is it not to have to bundle them up today? >> awesome. we loved it. >> no coats needed and even the tank tops and sandals came out today. welcome relief for some. >> i can't stand shoes.

i hate win the sneer not everyone had the same idea though. >> she's wearing sandals, but you're wearing boots. >> the last time for the season. >> reporter: it's not just the warm weather wardrobe that came out across the region today, also the bikes and rollerblades in fairmount park. >> after a cold winter, it's beautiful. it's nice to get out and enjoy the sun. >> reporter: good weather is good business for vendors like phoebe's barbecue. they have a brick and mortar location year round and then this one in the warmer months starting right now. >> private catering, corporate events. festivals like this. it's a seven day a week operation for sure. >> reporter: with even warmer temps on the horizon, some are planning for more time outdoors. >> it's going to be 80 degrees this week. what do you want to do? >> go outside and play basketball. >> reporter: others will soak up what they can. what are you going to do with that weather? >> i have to work, go to work. >> reporter: yeah. all the more reason to soak up everything you can right now.

it tended to be the kids with the plans and the adults who said they had to work, but it is good timing for some. philadelphia schools are on spring break this week. live in manayunk, i'm lauren mayk, nbc news. >> perfect timing. this is just the first day of a big weather warmup and first alert meteorologist erika martin is here. >> a great day across the entire delaware valley and it's only been getting better. i've been waiting to give you guys this forecast. we've trending a lot warmer. area of high pressure just to the south of us. in fact, sitting right over north darryl is bringing all of that nice warm air into our area. a live look outside. all we're seeing are high-level clouds. that's just about it. mostly sunny skies. neighbored right now for philadelphia seeing lots of upper 60s and some low 70s. currently 70 degrees in chestnut hill and torresdale is 69 and

bustleton, current temperatures 68 degrees. it looks like the p.a. suburbs seeing really nice temperatures, certainly above average. westchester 71 and st. david's at 67 and north wales at 68. warrington 69 is your current temperature and here is why. we are seeing those winds coming out of the south, and this is, of course, bringing us that nice warm southerly influence. what does that mean for us? it means that by monday we'll hit 80 and then 84 and will bump us up to 84 on tuesday, rosemary. >> thanks for that. we have new video tonight of the moment a bomb went off inside a church in alexandria, egypt, one of two bombs detonate there had on this palm sunday killing at least 38 people and injuring more than 100. in the wake of the blast, egypt's president has declared a three-month state of emergency. catholics in our area gathered at the cathedral at st. peters and paul in center city to celebrate palm sunday and pray

for the victims in egypt. palm sunday commemorates jesus' entry in jerusalem when crowds greeted him with palm branches before his crucifix. the faithful attended services this morning. the celebration marks the beginning of holy week for christians around the world. new at 6:00, a busy day for local firefighters who battled several blazes across the region. let's start in landsdowne delaware county where an nbc 10 viewer captured this video. can you see the flames shooting from the first floor window of this apartment at wayland manor on garrett road. crews had to rescue several people here. only one minor injury to report though. an upper darby fire, a police officer went to the hospital for smoke inhalation. american red cross has opened up a shelter at beverly hills middle school to accommodate any displaced family. now to north philadelphia where two garages went up in flames this afternoon. it happened near 27th and

willard street and crews had the fire under control in a matter of minutes and you can see the heavy damage though. no injuries here. less than three miles away from that fire, crews were called to this home on east allegheny avenue. you can see the damage here on the second floor. three adults and a cat had to be rescued. tonight everybody is doing okay. staying in north philadelphia, a 20-year-old man is in the hospital after somebody shot him in the face. it's happened on north second street around 5:30 this morning and someone picked up the victim and rushed him to the hospital. tonight he is in critical condition. this evening we're learning more about how this car ended up on the tracks at the fern rock transportation center. police tell us around 4:30 this morning driver went through a parking lot barrier down the stairs and right on to the train platform and ended up there on the tracks. no word on what happened to the driver. the nfl draft in filly is still weeks away, but the first road closures begin tonight. we'll show you where they are and the impact on your commute up next.

russia and iran are renewing their support for the syrian government saying last week's missile strike force violated syria sovereignty. the u.s. maintains the strike was in response to a nerve gas attack ordered by the serbian government on a rebel-held town. here at home students at temple university organized a fund-raiser for syrian refugees already in the philadelphia area. right now united muslim relief is joining other student health maintenance organizations to host a banquet for the ongoing conflict in syria and for refugees in our region. guests are getting a taste of the culture through traditional food, mike and arts. >> it's tragic the chemical

attacks that happened in syria. a lot of children are being killed, and this is why refugee families need to come here and that's why we need to be more accepting to the refugee families trying to come over. >> so far over $1,000 hats been raised by that event. >> now to today's weather. it was perfect for check out the subaru cherry blossom festival in fairmount park. the horticultural center hosted an all-day celebration of japanese culture. event featured dancing, drumming and martial arts performances. we are still just a few weeks away from the nfl draft in philadelphia, but drivers will be impacted by this major event in just hours. we'll explain in a live report coming up. all right, rosemary, we're already seeing impressive temperature change. 24-hour difference. we're seeing eight to nine degrees warmer at the same time and by tomorrow we'll see a major increase, anywhere between 15 to 20 degrees difference. i've got your full forecast coming up on this side of the break. vanessa: i got hurt and was given painkillers.

we have a first alert traffic warning for drivers in delaware county starting at 9:00 tomorrow morning. a new traffic pattern goes into effect on route 322 at garnet mine road in betel township. some roads in that area will close to help improve safety so keep that in mind. in south jersey two lanes on admiral wilson boulevard will remaine closed indefinitely after a fire under the flanders avenue bridge. it happened early yesterday. crews are making emergency repairs and inspecting the roads for safety i. more traffic trouble is on the way if you drive around the ben bring lynn parkway in philadelphia. it's all courtesy of the upcoming nfl draft. starting just after midnight phase one road closures go into effect on ben garden straight, eakins and kelly dry. the morning and afternoon drives will get busier affecting your

drive all the way through the big event through the end of the month. drew smith is live along the parkway to show us what you can expect. drew? >> reporter: the cones over here on the sidewalk are moving out on to the street here at spring garden street starting at 12:01 in the morning. the point is to give workers space to make this area look really cool for the big event, but it's a trade-off. it's traffic trouble for the next several weeks. drivers, it's time to prepare for phase one of closures at the art museum and the ben franklin parkway transform for the nfl draft. >> it's disgusting. i'm not looking forward to it at all. >> at midnight spring garden street closes westbound at pennsylvania avenue. >> actually this is my route to work every morning so it will be inconvenient. >> the oval near the art museum will shut and there will be lane closures near the museum and

this though will be the place for tomorrow and tuesday. it's feeling like beach weather and good news for families since schools are off this week for spring beach. i'm sure the beaches will be packed in the coming days. >> i think i'll be there. >> i know i'll be off. >> days off monday and tuesday. >> worked out for us. so gorgeous. stretch of weather. today absolutely lovely, rosemary. we saw mostly clear skies and we're climbing nicely into the 80s by monday and possible tying record-tying or record-breaking temperatures by tuesday. so i do quickly want to show you temperature difference 24 hours and maybe not that impressive right now, but wait until tomorrow. eight degrees warmer at this same time in philadelphia than it was yesterday. 9 in allentown and 9 in trenton and 9 in mount hole, but as we get nice southerly air moving into our area that does mean we have much warmer temperatures in store. let's start off with the lehigh valley. current temperatures in your neighborhood, 66 degrees and really nice conditions.

mercertown 66. keep in mind we have mostly sunny skies. nazareth 67 and easton current temperatures and 66 degrees. so from the lehigh valley to the jersey shore, conditions are just as pleasant. 51 atlantic city and colgate 53 degrees and mays landing at 67. upper township at 58 and woodbine, a nice comfortable 63 degrees, and delaware also feeling this nice southerly flow. newark currently at 67. ready point is 58 degrees. a little bit warmer farther south as usual, and you can actually see the arrows telling us we have the nice air moving in from the south. milton, your current temperature is 64 degrees. a live look outside. very pleasant. again, mostly sunny skies. for today we saw a couple of wispy upper level clouds, but that was just about it for today, and this is our satellite and radar image here.

our one-hour loop. notice we're seeing a couple of brighter lights here. that means we have upper level clouds, no worries, and all the warm air will slide right into place and filth near our area and we have mostly sunny skies for tomorrow and for tuesday. although clouds will start to develop late tuesday into wednesday. satellite and radar image. this is our weather-maker right now. this area of high pressure. now, of course, as it moves clockwise it will kick back. a lot of warmer air from the south and bring it right into our viewing area and this is why conditions are going to reach 70s for many and some low 80s for others. current winds right now coming out of the south at 16 miles per hour for wildwood and 8 for millville and 15 for atlantic city, and wilmington 16-mile-per-hour wind speeds for you again. a nice southerly warm flow for today. so the ten-day on 10 brings us a nice impressive trend at least through monday and tuesday. we'll top out at 80 degrease.

overnight low today in philadelphia i think will be upper 40s for you and i went with record breaking possibly. now the record is 84 degrees. set back in 1884 or 1887. i'll tweet that after this. 72 degrees on wednesday and we could see an increase in clouds tuesday into wednesday and i'm going to keep showers right here for right now and just a couple of scattered showers moving through and from there on out and we do see mostly clear skies on thursday and on friday and then on easter we could see some showers. temperatures in the low 70s. here's danny with sports. >> erika, thank you. the flyers finish their season against the hurricanes but the biggest stories involves one of the players on the opposing team. i'll explain why. it was an easy going sunday at the ballard for phillies until suddenly it wasn't. how the fils closer took a win away from the starting pitcher next.
