>> thanks so much for starting your work week with us, i'm frances rivera. >> starting in egypt, now under a state of emergency after terrorist bombers struck two coptic churches. one of the attacks captured in this disturbing video, the attack during packed palm sunday services. the blast killed more than 40 and wounded over 100 others. isis claiming responsibility for the violence though nbc has not been able to thunder date this claim. matt bradley joining us live from cairo, egypt. >> reporter: good morning. funerals are just starting for the more than 40 killed in this truly devastating attack. throughout egypt we're starting to see troops deploying in order to impose president el sisi's three-month state of emergency. that's what he announced yesterday. it's really hard to overstate the significance of this, and what this means for the national consciousness. this was definitely the most

deadly blow, the most deadly attack targeting christians, the largest christian community in the middle east, in nearly half a century. and this is a country that has been racked by communal violence for many, many years. now this is going to have a major effect, especially when it comes to law and order and when it comes to what president sissy is going to be doing here. he came did power just afew years ago and has kind of a tacit contract with the public that he would restore order and security as long as the public basically bent to his will. so this is going to be a devastating blow and this country's going to feel this for many years. >> nbc's matt bradley, thank you. back home this morning the manhunt intensifies for a heavily armed suspect who authorities say stole more than a dozen high-powered guns in wisconsin and sent trump an anti-government manifesto. nbc's blake mccoy has the details. >> reporter: the desperate opportunity for joseph jacob k

unpardonable" while saying it proves its nuclear weapons are justified to protect itself from washington's "ever-more reckless moves of war." nsa director mcmaster said it was prudent to send the carrier to the peninsula, while taking a hard stance against russia. >> we should ask russia how could it be if you have advisers at that air field, that you didn't know that the syrian air force was preparing and executing a mass murder attack with chemical weapons? >> still russia continues to refute syria attacked its own people, blaming rebels instead. the trump administration sends mixed signals with top officials outlining vastly different ways of tackling syrian president bashar al assad. >> in no way do we see peace in that area with russia covering for assad, in no way do we see

husband be calling it quits? reports are they've split after five years of marriage. the couple welcomed their first child together just months ago. it is ms. jackson's third marriage. european markets are higher at the open as u.s. consumers face sticker shock at the gas pump this morning. cnbc's nancy hungerford is watching your money, nancy, good morning. >> that's right, if you're filling up on the morning commute you may have to pay a bit more at the pump. that's because on average for a regular tank of gasoline, prices rose by about 9 cents over the last two weeks. to an average $2.43 a gallon. analysts are saying part of that is down to tensions over syria and mainly the rising oil price. if oil prices continue to climb, you can expect gas prices to inch higher as well. delta airlines is scrambling to get past the disruptions, hit with a thunderstorm at its atlanta base last week, that has led to more than 3,500 flight cancelations that continued into the weekend. a spokesman for delta says the
