some parts of the area got some hail. let's look at where the storms are right now. >> we are tracking some storms moving across the area, starting to approach the jersey shore. we are tracking the potential for hail damage of course. we are seeing downed trees to the southwest of the viewing area. let's time out some of the storms for you. it looks like harvey theaters around 11:30 p.m. so be mindful of that especially if you start to hear rumbling and you do see some lightning. we have already seen some reports -- official reports of hail size the of marbles and peas. we do have more storms moving through the areas. they are moving about 50 miles an hour. coming up in just a bit we're going to talk about these storms moving through the area and we're not done yet. we have more rain in the forecast. it looks like a soggy saturday.

p potholes can cause real damage. >> you know how much. send it to a mechanic and wait for the bill, usually $300 to fix damage as a result of potholes. people tell me it's a necessary evil. out here on the highway on 495 just south of us. >> the pain of the pump? how about pothole pain. >> they tear the tires up. >> reporter: he had to spend hundreds of dollars on a new tire. >> last week. when you drive over here your tires get uneven and your wheels start shaking and all that. >> reporter: potholes are popping up everywhere especially on 495 northbound. officials said it is in disrepair and the state is planning to shut it down. >> you have to be kidding me where? >> between between and 13.

there you hear the barrage of gunshots along the champs-elysees. the gunman used an assault rifle to shoot and kill a police officer. he wounded two others before police shot and killed him. he spent 14 years in prison for attacking police officers. security forces raided his family's home today trying to find out if he had any accomplices. they found a note praising isis that fell from the shooter's pocket near the scene. at home, philadelphia police are questioning two people after a shootout that left a man in critical condition and just missed a man sleeping in a nearby hope. the gunshots erupted late last night. police spotted two cars driving away and say two guns were thrown from one of the cars. new details tonight about a philadelphia soccer coach accused of raping one of his

players. immigration officials saying that the suspect was in the u.s. illegally. police say he talked the girl into having sex with him and got her pregnant. she was 14 at the time. the city of philadelphia says all volunteers are background checked before they are allowed to use the city facilities. strong warning about sanctuary cities from washington. in a letter the department of justice ordered the city to prove it is following federal immigration laws. if the city doesn't comply it could lose federal grant money. officers will enforce laws but not act as immigration agents. a pennsylvania state representative is introducing a policy aimed at stripping funding from sanctuary cities. >> it is up to the mayors to reverse policies and comply with the federal law. that's all the letter is asking.

of several run ins with the septa police over the course of weeks. he claims that he was targeted after filing complaints against septa police. >> i think it should be known what is going on with septa and how they are treating people. that's all i'm trying to get out of the policy. >> last year an investigation revealed that the officer restrained the man saying he was being defiant and his actions led to disciplinary actions. and they shot this video between their client and another police officer last april. he was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct but a judge found him not guilty. >> i became known by the septa police. when they see me, it's like he's in the area. let's do something to him. >> reporter: he hopes this civil suit will clear his name and

take a look at this right here, new video showing the consequences of distracted driving. the car hits the side of a barrier and flies down the road. the police department in new jersey posted this on their facebook page as a warning. the driver only had minor injuries. things are getting back to normal on the new york city subway lines but it was a day of misery for commuters there.

a power outage crippled the system during the morning rush and crowds began to pile up. many were inside the cars. crews are still trying to figure out what knocked out the power. contamination concerns at an ice rink tonight. it was temporarily shut down this week. the rink was supposed to be using township water for hand washing, food prep and drinking but they had connected to a well they fear was contaminated. private testing shows the water is safe. this 5-year-old has been through a whole lot. tonight the make-a-wish foundation gave him a really big surprise. drew smith has the story from chester county new at 11:00. >> reporter: alex volker looks like a happy kid having fun at check e. cheese but this is not just any 5th birthday party it's

degrees and winds easterly at 6 miles an hour. picking up on more storms moving across the area from west to east. the good news is they are not very organized right now. notice the easterly influence. that is why the temperatures topped out mainly in the 60s, below average for this time of the year. but we are tracking remaining storms moving across the area. atlantic city may hear some rumbling just after midnight. 12:13 ocean city may have one or two isolated thunderstorms. in the jersey shore the neighborhood temperatures in the 50s. and woodbine currently at 53 for you. hour-by-hour-forecast starting at 11:00 p.m. we see the storms moving across the area at 12:30 to 1:00 a.m. and we do have more

showers for tomorrow. plenty of clouds and showers. but at least it clears by sunday. temperatures tomorrow topping out in the mid-60s. low 60s by sunday. on monday we are seeing temperatures in the low 60s. keep in mind the average in philadelphia is in the mid-60s. so below average and there will be passing showers on monday. the coolest day of the following week will be tuesday at 60. but then we climb into the 70s on wednesday. look at this. we're going to top out at 80 on thursday, 81 on friday. 82 on saturday. i left this at 79 but i may bump it up to 70. overall a nice stretch of weather ahead. but we do have to get the much chillier temperatures and that rain for tomorrow and to kick off the following workweek. back to you. can you imagine losing a

dressing up to celebrate philadelphia's young athletes and the people who make the program possible. the program gives the city students an athletic outlet and encouraging them to pursue higher education. the money raised goes back into the academy. today more than 130 people in bucks county donated their locks to make sure kids who don't have hair have a reason to feel special. the program is called kathy's cuts. >> just find it amazing that these people come out year after year, their hair grows so fast.
