family's front yard. a car runs down a toddler not once but twice before the vehicle takes off. >> running across the street with a baby in her arms bleeding. >> he hurried to call 911 when they heard the mother's screaming for custody. >> that drive sir in custody and cooperating with police. >> and a witness of the chaos. >> hope he rots in jail. >> reporter: this after a vehicle ran over a 15-month-old baby and as he tried to get away, did it again. he couldn't believe what he was seeing. >> why would you go back and forth trying to get away? he was trying to maneuver around the mom. >> reporter: the driver took off down the road and the baby's mom ran over to the neighbor's for help. >> came running in the house with blood all over her, and then the baby had like a big

raided in the allentown area. this could be one of the biggest. look behind me you see all the things fbi and state police pulled out of this garage on east emmaus avenue but didn't leave empty-handed. took a lot of belongings including atvs and motorcycles. agents take pictures of the front door at 1607 east emmaus avenue. the hole in the door likely caused when agents went inside. >> to see all of this police activity and the police tape and fbi is just -- >> reporter: across the street from a school. online records so the house is rental. people who live nearby say police surrounded the house this morning. two people seen leaving in hand covers including this woman. the garage labeled room x. here for hours, fbi agents and salisbury police sorted items in the garage. searched cars and brought bags out of the house. the fbi only saying this search

and seizure was court ordered as part of a case that can't be discussed. before they left, they had cars, motorcycles and atvs towed away. there are people inside the home. a family friend just went inside a little while ago saying there are children inside. neighbors tell us about ten people lived in this house and, yes, some of them are children. reporting live in the lehigh valley for nbc 10 news. first alert weather. a heat wave. still a good day to be out on the water. sky force 10 on the schuylkill today. largest regatta happening today and tomorrow in country. a look down broad street from the campus camera. eating outside, heading down to center city, great day for that. >> a few pop-up showers. a look at the baseball field

from our camera at the stadium. we hit our first heat wave of the season and everyone is looking forward to the weekend. >> and ted greenberg is in ocean city. first with meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz with the most steamy forecast. >> only steamy a couple hours longer. we are getting a drastically different weekend than what we have seen today. there is no way, nowhere near 90, even near 80 over the weekend. we may not even be up to 70. it's 93 degrees in philadelphia right now. 90 in redding. 91 in lancaster. 90 in trenton. 93 atlantic city. international inland, 78 at the marina. got into 90 at the beaches today before the sea breeze kicked in. so we 93 again, three days in a row. 90-plus makes it an official heat wave.

look what comes over the weekend. a 25-degree temperature drop, and at the shore it will be more like a 35-degree temperature drop. now, we do have showers, even a couple of lightning bolts here on the radar. generally headed towards delaware, and extreme south jersey. this area about to hit the northern portion of the chesapeake bay and this is the timing. middletown, before 5:00, 5:40 in dover. 5:46 in denton if that line keeps together. these isolated ones that have just developed are starting to move straight to the east. this one looks like it's going straight into winslow township. there are a few more showers back to the west. we'll take a look at those, and also what it's going to be like next week. a whole different story from what we've seen so far. >> and nbc 10 is counting down to the unofficial start of summer. one week away from the kickoff to memorial day weekend at the jersey shore.

nbc 10 jersey shore bureau reporter ted greenberg live in ocean city. >> already feels like summer there i know. people hitting the beaches and boardwalks along the coast early. >> reporter: they certainly have, jim and jackie. really hot earlier. but the sea breeze kicked in this afternoon and cooled things off. it is incredible to see so many people out here on the boardwalk before memorial day weekend. merchants, you can imagine, not complaining. business owners tell me this week's heat has really been a bonus for them, leading up to the big memorial day weekend. we talked with a few folks who decided to take the day off and head to the shore. and we're seeing bigger crowds than what's typical for mid to late may. it has been hot here with temperatures soaring into the 90s even right along the coast. >> feels more like summer now definitely. >> the number of people even driving down. drive down at 9:00, there was traffic. >> i came because it was going

to be so hot today. yeah, and i had off work. so -- >> reporter: can't beat that. >> exactly. >> reporter: good idea to head down here. no lifeguards out on the beaches now. they're busy getting some of their equipment ready for next weekend. putting that part of the story together for you for 5:00. live in ocean city, for nbc 10 news. and don't forget to download the nbc 10 app for your latest weather updates as you make your memorial day weekend plans. this afternoon president trump is heading overseas for his first foreign trip as the leader of the free world. the president and first lady took off just after 2:00 today for saudi arabia. the first stop on a nine-day trip. of course, here at home president trump is leaving behind controversy as those investigations continue on a possible connection between the president and russia. yesterday the president called int investigations a witch-hunt and today deputy attorney general rod rosenstein gave a closed door briefing on the investigation to the house.

he's in charge of the investigation after attorney general jeff sessions recused himself. one lawmaker said rosenstein shut down reports former fbi director james comey asked for more resources to conduct the russian probe. >> said he's already said it, no evidence comey asked for further resources. >> deputy a.g. said it very well. his reason for doing this appointment is as much about returning public confidence. >> president trump indicated he's close to picking a new fbi director but that announce lmen will not happen today. new details in the deadly times square crash. the driver ay accused of plowing his car into pedestrians told police he wanted to kill them all. that's according to prosecutors. richard rojas was in court today facing charges of murder and attempted murder. prosecutors also said rojas told police they should have shot him. police were able to grab rojas after his car barreled into the

lunch hour crowd in times square. an 18-year-old from michigan was killed. 22 others hurt. police are providing search warrants and hoping to get blood tests back in the next few days. rojas has a history of dwi arrests. anthony weiner cried in court apologizing to the teenager he exchanged sexual texts with. he knew if was morally wrong and unlawful. his words. weiner pleaded guilty. he'll be sentenced in september and has to register as a sex offender. nbc news also learned his wife o yuma about da deou abidine file in february, a school evacuated and no bombs or suspicious packages found. a warrant issued for a second worker.

philadelphia announced new steps today to battle a deadly opioid epidemic in the city. the mayor and governor tom wolf were joined by health officials at city hall today announcing recommendations from the mayor's task force to combat the epidemic. 18 recommendations to increase prevention and education and improve treatment opposites for those battling addiction. >> we've seen the cost of inaction to epidemics in the past we cannot let this happen again to so many more families. >> the mayor says some of the suggestions from the task force have already been implemented. the city had around 900 overdoses last year alone. that's three times the homicide rate the brothers and sisters of music icon prince will inherit his estate. today a judge roomed prince died without a will making his siblings heirs. the superstar died in april of 2016 of a drug overdose.

sweden's top prosecutor says she has withdrawn an arrest warn for wikileaks founder julian assange. the subjected of a rape investigation, but the prosecutor says it won't be possible to bring him to sweden for the foreseeable future. assange has been staying in ecuador's embassy in london since 2012 to avoid extradition and still faces a british arrest warrant for jumping bail. if you take steps as wilmington region's rail line listen up. a new construction project could impact your commute until july. amtrak crews started the rail improvement project today that will last until sunday july 2nd. they're replacing about 14,000 rail ties and tracks along the five mile span between the wilmington train station and that means inbound and outbound trains could run 20 minutes later than normally scheduled. and camden high school soon demolished. where will the students go?

right now we're seeing temperatures into the mid to upper 90s inside center city here. graduate hospital 97. penceport 95. society hill 95. port richmond 96. those places are especially hot. the more concrete there is the more heat gets trapped in there and it's -- as you can see, a few degrees warmer than the surrounding area. now, it was a west wind at the shore, but the sea breeze has come in and so the 93 is now down to in the 70s. 73 degrees at cape may point right now compared to what it was earlier. we've had a westerly wind. that's not going to stay that way. it's going to turn into the northeast, and east for tomorrow. and here we go into sunday. it's not going to sthahift that mu much. coming in off the ocean and can't get warm. we do have showers, even a thunderstorm, with a front that

is coming down to the south, and leading to the wind shift. you can see a fair amount of lightning there in the northern end of the chesapeake bay. getting into elkton and smeyrna and there's an abby not abington. >> and there's that west wind. the showers tonight. there's the northeast wind. lots of clouds tomorrow. not moving very much on the temperature even in the 60s, and only 50s at the shore. here we are sunday. same story. east wind. it's chilly. and cloudy, but we're not expecting rain over the weekend. we are expecting temperatures to start going back up next week and some rain coming in on monday. now, tammy will take you through the rest of next week. >> yeah.

joe. two women and a 7-year-old boy hurt after they fell from this ferris wheel in washington state yesterday. witnesses say they heard a grinding noise before the ferris wheel cart flipped upside down. that sent three people down about 15 feet. one of the victims now in serious condition but all three expected to be okay. well, west philadelphia native questlove in town to deejay the pennsbury prom tomorrow night. >> almost didn't happen. exploding from tweets saying the roots drummer pulled out of performing at the prom. but questlove confirmed on twitter he is keeping his prom promise tweeting, i will stick

money. investigative reporter mish blois following the money. >> reporter: saying there's nothing to see. but he showed us his $27 300 taxpayer office anyway. asked about political contributions taken from his landlord. did that make you more likely to do him a favor? >> absolutely not. it doesn't. >> reporter: every state senator picks their office. most get options and the clerk negotiates a lease. senator brown only gave the clerk one option. >> there wasn't any other space. >> reporter: the senator says this office was the only suitable option and yet to be revitalized allentown when the lease was signed in 2011. campaign finance records show before the senator moved in his landlord contributed $11,000 to his campaigns. since he moved in, he's contributed almost $50,000.

million. first alert weather now. clear skies down the jersey shore. nbc 10 here's at long port over look the township in atlanta county. temperatures hit the 90 today in egg harbor. quiet there. a live look across the river. camden from our camera on top of the loews hotel. a boater going down the river on a beautiful sunny, but warm, afternoon. still a week way from the unofficial start of summer, but as you know, we already saw our first heat wave of the season today. >> and first alert chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with an accurate forecast. big changes tomorrow. wondering how soon the rain comes in tonight to change everything? >> well, mostly in delaware and some spots in south jersey will get the rain, to get relief. we're all going to get relief from the change in the wind, and that wind's going to come in off of that cooler ocean. this is cape may. you can see -- a fair amount of people on the beach for this time of day, at this time of

year. 93 in philadelphia. did get into the 90s even at the beaches but the sea breeze knocked it down to the 70s. allentown down 89. cooler air is already starting to come into the region. the high temperatures over the last three days into the 90s, but nowhere near that for saturday and sunday. we're talking about mid to upper 60s and even cooler than that at the shore. we do have some of those showers, one thunderstorm there, and even that has weakened going into the northern portion of chesapeake bay, but if we track it down which way it's going, about 5:40, 6:00 in dover. if it holds together. a couple other showers weakening also in new jersey. i'll be back to talk more about the next chance of significant rain in a bit. >> all right, glenn. a look at stowe're followin.

repair work on a broken gas main tied up traffic in cherry hill. crews blocked route 70 eastbound between haddonfield road. the repair work is finished. the road is now open again. in bucks county, moving ahead with a plan to snuff out smoking. supervisors voted unanimously to approve an ordinance banning all tobacco items from public parks including e-cigarettes. the ban goes into effect following a 30-day waiting period. and delaware county, hundreds got masters and doctoral degrees. a look at the school the main campus, 400 students took the stage today. the undergrads get their turn to throw their caps in the air coming up on saturday. ♪ go ahead and push your back against your body, bump it ♪ and the latest situation ♪ >> remember that one? r&b mary j. blige turned up the

this afternoon some students in university city got a special visit from an eeg it's star. malcolm jenkins spent time at the jubilee school talking about work on social issues away from the field. ened only our cameras were there at the kid presented a handmade medal for all the work dmun the

community. the school invited him because of his social activity, and poeming to commemorate the visit. overwhelmed by the tribute. >> when you get here and you see the kids from, you know, first grade up to sixth grade talking about the same things that i'm talking about, you know, to members of congress, it's eye-opening, and it's empowering. >> this was all part of the human rights day celebration at the jubilee school. they represented their versions of social injustice in artwork, poetry and other projects. another almost royal wedding is happening tomorrow in england. the world's most famous bridesmaid, pippa middleton getting her turn as bride. the duchess of cambridge tying the knot with her hedge fundamental millionaire fiance james matthews. the two started dating nearly two years ago but have known
