triggs triggs. throw people from one family killed in a fire. tonight the entire community is feeling the pain of loss now that a man and his grandparents are dead. an nbc 10 exclusive. an off-duty philadelphia housing officer accused in a shooting. plus plane emergency. where this plane had to make an emergency landing this afternoon that had a major road closed for hours. >> all the people in the family. just going to miss them. >> neighbors fighting back tears telling us how they are going to miss three family members killed in this overbrook fire. good evening. i'm denise nakano. two grandparents and their grandson died in that fire.

neighbors are calling them the heart and soul of the diamond street block. nbc 10's drew smith is live in overbrook tonight. drew, it seems like everybody knew the victims. >> reporter: denise, we heard so many stories. in fact, they say on a day like this, this family would be out cooking for neighborhood, but tonight instead we smell the smoke from this fire that tore through this row home claiming three lives and sending another to the hospital. the news hit hard for neighbors, friends and family and the smell of smoke woke them up and then they heard the sounds of screams. >> hanging up to the window telling miss anne, miss anne, come out the window. your house is on fire >> reporter: philadelphia fire department began attacking the fire from the front and the back of the home and a handicapped man in his 80s couldn't make it out and his wife couldn't leave him and they both died along with their grandson. when the fire was out neighbors remembered who they lost.

>> he was fairly outgoing, yeah. my uncle was the same way, too. good guys, a good christian woman. >> reporter: a cousin shared this photo of tyreke johnson who was here visiting from iowa. just bought a new car parked out front. >> he planned a trip. he wanted to go fishing with all the guys. that's what they do. >> reporter: annie and cliff hickman held events here in this space across the street. they just had a party yesterday. >> such a devastation, so sad. >> reporter: local leader say the couple looked out for everybody. >> just a great couple. just really sorry, really sorry to see them go. >> reporter: a 19-year-old man managed to escape this fire. he went to the hospital and he's doing actually much better now. fire investigators are trying to figure out what started this. they will be back for that. also the fire department planning to come back through this neighborhood and make sure

everybody has working smoke detectors and also try to talk to people about escape plans. we're live in overbrook, drew smith, nbc 10 news. >> a philadelphia housing authority officer is accused of shooting a man while she was off duty. this is exclusive video you'll see only on nbc 10. police say the shooting happened in the area of 58th street and king susing. we're trying to get more information about that shooting. developing now, part of route 3, 22 in westchester just reopened after being closed for hours because of an emergency plane landing, and before 2:00 this afternoon they saw it low and clipped some power lines and here is a picture that have plane. the pilot is doing okay. route 322 was closed between cokeland school road and lake road while crews were cleaning up mess. another developing story.

one person dead and two others in the hospital after a boat went airborne landing on another boat. now this is video of the point pleasant beach grand proin ocean county right before the crash. officials say the boater made a u-turn before shooting out of the water. races were cancelled for the day. an update to breaking news we brought you last night at 11:00. police are still searching for the person who fired more than 25 shots into a group of people in north philadelphia last night. nine people were shot and one person was shot five times and tonight the community is confused as to why this happened. nbc 10's andrea cline-thomas is live in philadelphia where this took place and aundrea, you can still see the bullet holes. >> reporter: the group was just hanging had out here listening, dancing to music. they were even documenting it on social media and take a look at the back of this pickup truck. the victims told police that two

men came up and started shooting. the scene was described as chaotic as people started running. at least 27 shots were fired according to police and some of the residents say they drove a few of the injured to the hospital before police arrived. in all nine people were shot. they ranged from 17 to 26 years old. a woman who we are not identifying says her cousin is one of the victims. she stopped by last night to say hello to the group just moments before the shooting happened. >> is there very much hate in the world that young photos who are not gun toting and come from good families. this pickup place in this neighborhood, right from where their houseses are to this dance? >> two of the nine hat last check were in critical condition at temple university hospital. they were shot multiple times. detectives are hoping surveillance video in this area

helps them track down or at least identify the suspects. reporting live, aundrea cline-thomas, nbc 10 news. >> thanks, aundrea. in north philadelphia a pregnant woman is dead after a fire ripped through her apartment this morning. the fire marshal is calling the fire suspicious and looking into the possibility that someone purposefully started that had fire. well, rain is already on the radar, and you'll have to want to make sure you have an umbrella handy all this week. first alert meteorologist erika martin has your neighborhood forecast. aishlga? >>. >> that's right. conditions for today are dry or have been dry and we're tracking some showers expected here later tonight and certainly for your monday morning commute. a live look outside over philadelphia. we can see that the clouds are developing very quickly into vertical and a lot of moisture in the upper levels of the atmosphere. current temperature 67 degrees. notice southeasterly wind at nine miles per hour. that is telling me that we do have the onshore influence and

current temperatures around philadelphia upper 60s right now, and we are trending cooler for today. topped out at 73 degrees and two degrees below average which is 75. parkwood is 69 and torresdale, current temperature 68 degrees. coming up in just a bit we'll talk about the showers in our neighborhood and we'll talk about that and the most accurate forecast. back to you. >> in delaware county one person was taken to the hospital after a police car crashed in chester. that crash happened around 1:00 this afternoon near the stop one deli on seventh and lloyd streets. we're still working to see if an officer was injured in that crash and what cause it had. >> a man is dead after being shot by police in allentown. police say the man robbed the white hall pharmacy on main street and shot the clerk early this morning. he took off in a truck and when police tried to stop him they

say he rammed two police cars and then pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers. police shot and killed him. the store clerk is in serious condition. >> a 7-year-old south jersey boy who ran after a ball in the street was struck by a car and now police are using this as a reminder to watch out for kids as we get closer to summer. the driver came to a stop when she saw a group of kids playing basketball in manchester township, but then police say the boy darted in front of the car. he hurt his ankle and was taken to the hospital. walking out of their own graduation. why students at a prestigious college walked out when one of the country's top leaders walked in. plus, flying high. how these women were lucky enough to get selfies with the newest philadelphia eagle. chris christie: addiction is a disease.

drive them out of your places of worship. drive them out of your communities. drive them out of your holy land. and drive them out of this earth. >> president trump called on the arab world to confront islamic extremism during a speech in saudi arabia. he painted the fight as a battle between good and evil. the speech is a stark contrast to the president's anti-muslim campaign rhetoric. this is president trump's first trip overseas since taking office. >> oh, my god. >> a scary few seconds for a family in canada after a sea lion came out of the water to snatch a little girl sitting on the ledge there. a man quickly jumped in to save the girl who appeared to be okay. marine experts believe the sea lion thought the girl's dress was a snack.

♪ quite the scene today at linkal financial field as the eagles hosted its second annual foot of fest available for women. everyone was excited to get a picture with alshon jeffery and to be in the locker room and hear lessons from the coaches and the women took their kicks like an eagles kicker right on the field. >> i'm a huge eagles fan and got this the for a mother's day present and for my mom who is a bigger fan. it's in the blood. excited for the season. >> an opportunity for these women to come out and not only kind of get to know us a little bit and get to experience the life of a football coach a little bit. >> these ladies, they tell you how much energy they bring to any event. you can say they are actually out here enjoying it and out here letting the time pass by. >> csn's danny pommels will have much more on eagles coming up in

sports. >> i'm first alert meteorologist erika martin with your most accurate forecast. right now we're tracking cooler temperatures. atlantic city currently in the upper 50s. 59 degrees. notice the wind direction easterly so we have the onshore influence, especially for the jersey shore which is why conditions there are cooler. 10 degrees in allentown and mt. holly is 64, and current temperatures 62 degrees. onshore influence keeping everything cooler for today. we only topped out at 73 degrees in philadelphia. a live look outside. you can see we have a lot of clouds up there through the mid and upper levels. our satellite and radar image picking up on thick white clouds moving from the northwest to the southeast. a line of showers moving in our direction right now and, in

fact, i have two models i'm going to show you because one model, this is our north american model. showing showers making it here after midnight so let's go ahead and get this started and pause it at 3:00 a.m. and notice we still see an easterly and southeasterly influence here as far as the winds are concerned so picking up enough moisture there. 3:00 a.m. seeing the rain making it into the viewing area and 7:00 a.m. for the monday morning commute. we're seeing widespread rain across the entire delaware valley and still continued through 10:00 a.m. and more rain showers behind that, so it looks like a pretty wet monday in the forecast and however this model. this is the model that picks up and showers making it here by 10:00 p.m. for parts of chester county. certainly for the lehigh county. burks county, and as we get this going and pause this at 1 is being p.m., just starting to flirt with montgomery county and parts of philly metro so keep that in mind because i do think those showers will get here right around 11:00 p.m. the ten-day on ten brings us showers for tomorrow and some

isolated thunderstorms. temperatures topping out in the low 70s. mid-70s by tuesday. i have cloudy skies here with forecast developing late so keep that in mind. on wednesday it looks like we'll see some showers in the forecast. mid-70s by thursday and tracking some isolated thunderstorms. friday i'm going to go ahead with clouds for now, but i do think we'll see a few passing sprinkles. certainly very breezy. memorial day weekend, holiday weekend, does not look fantastic. temperatures in the 880s and tracking some showers for memorial day and here's danny pommels with sports. >> hey, erika, thank you. i'm danny pommels, alshon jeffery has embraced his new home in philly and how is there the fans embraced him? hear from the birds wideout next. giving major league batters the business. aaron nola had his stuff on the bump for the "time" in a month. more coming up in sports.
