11:17 am
ocean county, this is generally over one inch of rain that has already fallen and the doppler estimate's very close to one to one and a half inches from dover all of the way to vineland any some localized flooding possible there and that's not the end of the rain for the week, that's for sure. there's another big area down by the gulf coast, and that is moving up in this direction. so once we get rid of this, there's still more on the way. i'll quote one of the side effects that we're having, the low clouds and fog and that's causing delays at philly international and more delays are likely later today and into tonight and tomorrow, as well. 59 degrees with heavy rain reported in philadelphia at the top of the hour, but that will be tapering off. you can see most areas are in the 50s and of course, there's more rain in delaware and in south jersey than we're seeing elsewhere. as we go into the afternoon,

more rain in new jersey than in other parts of the area. temperatures struggling to get out of the 60s in many parts of the area and we do have some more rain coming up from the southwest. not so much tonight, okay? it's going to be cloudy tonight and not all that chilly, a little bit of fog and we start off the day tomorrow, much of the day tomorrow is dry. here comes that gulf of mexico stuff. tomorrow night and into wednesday, look at that, here's the wednesday morning rush. continuing during the day and the temperature's definitely well below normal and normal now is in the mid-70s. so we have fog tomorrow morning. we have the rain returning and that's mostly, excuse me, later in the day and at night, then we have that other rain that we showed you on wednesday coming

up from the gulf of mexico. then we've got another portion of that system coming up and bringing rain, perhaps the heaviest rain of the week on thursday, then things start to quiet down a little bit. on friday the temperature into the mid-70s and over the holiday weekend temperatures are going up, generally closer to 80 degrees, but we're still in a wet weather pattern and so we can still see some rain coming in on sunday and into memorial day. not necessarily as bad as what we're going to be seeing this week, but there is a good bit of rain in the forecast over the next seven days and we'll try to pinpoint it a little bit more coming up a little bit later. >> thank you, glenn. >> dramatic rescue this video shows the moment a gas station

tonight at 8:00 right here on nbc 10. now your nbc 10 first-alert weather. >> well, a different kind of week. a pretty wet week, a pretty cloudy week across the area and get ready for it, and we've had wet weather this morning and there's more coming up from the washington, d.c. area and some of it is on the heavier side and it's especially true and parts of central delaware into interior south jersey and we've had another area of heavier rain moved through dover and that's one of the places that has seen the greatest amount of rain. you can see the area in blue from dover all of the way up to parts of long beach island and that's more than one inch of rain. to the west, much less toward the shore much less and that's the zone of heavy rain. this is not causing necessarily widespread flooding, but this sets us up because we have more rain coming this week.
11:48 am
some tomorrow night, some wednesday, some thursday and even over the weekend and dover's had about an inch of rain. marysville had a little over an inch and brigston and cedarville and 1.2 and vineland about millville and 1.1, but there's more. look at all of this moisture down in texas and the gulf of mexico and that's moving in this direction as well and we have more wet weather ahead. this is a normal shot where you see the flags? you can barely see them. a half hour ago i wanted to show you the shot, but you couldn't see anything and that area of heavy rain has moved through and we got a little bit of a break in philly. we're up to 60 degrees now and into the 50s and the rest of the area is unseasonably cool as we go through this week. so this afternoon, many places will be dryer especially in the pennsylvania counties. allentown, quakertown, redding
11:49 am
and just cloudy, but philly there may be showers and atlantic city is likely to be the wettest and as we go into the night tonight this is the fog symbol. we will see more of those as we go through the night and into the morning. there we are with a lot of clouds tomorrow, a lot of clouds in the morning and it's not going to start off necessarily wet tomorrow, but then the rain returns, if not in the afternoon, at night. that is just going to be kind of a nasty pattern and here we are wednesday, early morning with more of that rain moving in. so we are in for it and this is, overall, the next three days you can see the next seven days on the bottom of your screen for your neighborhood. the temperatures are below normal, but creeping up a little bit closer to normal not as heavier rain tomorrow if we get it. it will be generally much later
11:50 am
in the day into tomorrow night and into wednesday morning and then as we head toward the holiday weekend, temperatures go up a little bit, but we still have some rain chances coming. all right. thank you, glenn. summer is just around the corner and a new major summertime event is kicking off this july. the philadelphia flyers are hosting the charity classic and registration is now under way. here to tell us more is former philadelphia flyer brad marsh. great to have you back here with us this morning. >> thank you. >> there's something here for just about every member of the family, right? >> yeah. there really is something there for everybody whether you're young or old or somewhere in the middle, a flyers fan or someone that wants to be active and the flyers charity classic is a walk, run and ride. we have three different distances for the ride. we're working with the city and the police and we've got broad street closed and we're going to run through the navy yard and

back to wells fargo and the bike riders believe wells fargo down broad street and the ten miler and the family fun ride will come back to wells fargo and we have the 50-kilometer and a 100-kilometer bike ride that will continue. it will be a great day. >> if you want to test your endurance you can do that and you want to walk, you can do that. >> you can have the flyers alumni called the ides of marsh. what's that about? >> well, for my 50th birthday i have four kids and we all went in a team triathlon event together and that's what we called ourselves, the ides of marsh. we formed a team and looking to have fun on july 16th, the date of the charity classic. so i'll have lots of alumni guys out there riding and walking and running so it's going to be a great day. the money that you raise will go to a great cause. tell us about that. it will go to the flyers' charity and nothing needs to be

said for the charity and it started with the carnival way back when and they've done so much good work in the city, but then a portion of the proceeds, as well goes to the alumni charities which our specific goal is we announced last year we'd like to build a rank and memory in honor of mr. snyder and our alumni guys we got together and scratched their head and in our minds this is the best way to say thank you to a great guy. he's done so much for hockey and philly, so we want to build another rink and have more kids playing hockey. >> he's left such a huge footprint in the city and it's hard to imagine, you know, hockey without that man. >> yeah. >> it's hard to imagine pro sports without him because every pro sport team has an owner, but not every pro sports team has a mr. snyder and he was one of a kind. >> the philadelphia flyers charity classic is happening sunday, july 16th and gets under
