a robbery suspect is believed to be hiding inside. we have been watching the situation unfold for the past half hour or so. >> we have seen pictures from the cvs pharmacy and the police presence that is outside with the suspect barricaded inside trying to get ahold of that situation. >> the officer have surrounded that cvs pharmacy. keith jones was first on the scene and will be joining us live in a moment. one of the officer has his rifle trained on the building. a number of vehicles outside the cvs pharmacy. we don't know if anyone else is inside the pharmacy right now, police believe the robbery suspect is in there and s.w.a.t. teams are by some of the entrances to the pharmacy. we'll bring you an update when we get more information. now to this, a deadly fire turns out to be much more

complicated. nbc 10 learns it is connected to a suspicious death and a suicide. >> a body was found in that fire. and drew smith spoke with her husband tonight and he tells us that her ex-boyfriend was trying to silence her. >> reporter: a doctor wanted to open a clinic for the needy here but it is now burned and boarded up. videos posted online as part of a fund raising effort show a man who police say died by suicide this week known around here as a good person. >> he was a nice guy and a doctor. >> reporter: he had a prior relationship with this woman which ended with assault and harassment charges in 2016. >> the more he attacked her and choked her with a dog leash. >> reporter: her body was found

on sunday. >> everyone is in shock about this. >> reporter: his wife traveled to philadelphia for a court hearing in the assault case. she stayed in a rental home. >> i said stay away from him. >> reporter: it's a mystery how the mother of three ended up here dead. homicide attacks and the fire marshall are looking into this. eubanks was not charged before police found his body. new at 11:00, a candidate running for congress accused of body slamming a reporter a day before a special election. listen to this audio of the altercation. >> we'll talk about that later. speak with shane, please. i'm sick and tired of you guys. the last guy that came in here did the same thing.

>> that audio is courtesy of "the guardian" newspaper. he said that greg gianforte body slammed him and broke his glasses but the candidate spokesperson says that the reporter went into the office without permission and john forte sa -- a delaware county bartender is facing charges after he was allegedly busted selling drugs at work. police arrested the man just after midnight this morning in radner. the drug task force made the arrests after a series of undercover purchases. he is facing charges for selling drugs in proximity of a school. residents in chester county are calling for tougher drug laws after two drug counsellors died from apparent overdoses.

officials say they died from a lethal overdose of fentanyl and heroin. back now to the breaking news in media we told you about at the on of the newscast. s.w.a.t. officers surrounding a cvs. keith, any movement that you are seeing? >> reporter: this is a very, very active scene. take a look behind me right now this is across baltimore bike. that is the cvs. this started as a robbery and evolved b evolved into this. the officers have their rifles trained at the cvs and on the roof. there is a philadelphia police helicopter lighting up the roof. there is a fear that the person inside might come out on the top on the roof.

state police who have spoken to nbc 10 have told me they want to see what is up there. we have given them access to the mast cam on our live truck here. there is no reported shots fired and no injuries up to this point. but there is a huge presence. you take a look at the video. you see exactly what we've been watching for the past hour and a half. traffic is shut down. the s.w.a.t. team is here. media, spring ford, springfield. we are seeing everyone monitoring the situation. it started as a robbery. the possible suspect might be inside right now in a stock room. bringing you back live on camera. what we are look at the wendy's. we know that no one has been hurt. i'm going to take a look at what is going on and give you an update later. keith jones, nbc 10 news. to this now, seven, that's how many people are under arrest

football coach who lost his job says he just wants to restore his good name. >> this represents a lawsuit by a former football coach who was fired after serious allegations of player hazing turned out to be false. now he wants vindication. >> i certainly hope he is able to clear his name and i hope he wins. >> thomas was fired in march of last year after charges were announced after three football players accused of sodomizing a younger player. tim hollins daughter was once on the training staff. >> she loved the coaching staff. >> reporter: hollins believes that they unfairly lost their jobs after an investigation found the allegations weren't true. batches is suing the principal, the superintendent and the accuser's father for defamation and fraud.

>> everyone knew from the beginning there was no substance to these allegations of a mod-like sodomy of this young man. >> reporter: the lawyer says his client has had a tough time trying to restore his name and move on in his life. the lawsuit says that he is looking for $50,000. but his attorney says it's less about money and more about restoring his client's reputation. >> you can put a price tag on a personal your. you can put a price tag on a home. but what is a man's reputation? >> they should get their jobs back and apology should be forth coming from the school and the prosecute and from the family of this young man who chose to lie. >> reporter: we reached out to the school district and direstrt attorney's office but they have no comment at this time. good news tonight for local students. the westchester school board unanimously approved a plan to ease the homework load.

and the changes include no homework on the weekends or during school breaks and holidays and no busy work. and teachers will receive training on how home work adds value. new at 11:00, bill cosby speaks publicly after the jury is chosen for his sexual assault trial. the final group has 10 white people and 2 blacks. cosby is accused of drugging and raping a woman in 2004. the comedian spoke to reporters briefly outside the allegheny county courthouse. >> i just want to be very specific about the wonderful people, allegheny county. and i want to also thank the sheriff's department because they made everything very, very smooth here. >> kcosby has proclaimed his

innocence and the trial will start in june in montgomery county. s.w.a.t. officers have surrounded a cvs. >> reporter: this started as robbery inside. they suspect is holed up in a stock room. you can see a s.w.a.t. team two minutes ago entered all the way around and they went in unclear whether there is any activity. no reports of shots fired and nobody hurt, either which is a good sign. but a philadelphia police chopper is hovering around this place making sure that the suspected robber doesn't climb up a ladder to the roof area. in fact there are guns trained on this cvs. no one was hurt and nobody at this point arrested. that's what we can tell you so far. live in media. keith jones, nbc 10 news. also tonight from your

pennsylvania state police performed cybersecurity reviews on the laptops inside patrol cars. we told you about a lawsuit that claimed that cybersecurity gaps in chester county's emergency dispatch system puts personal information at risk for hacking. the police have sped up the review of security measures. chester county insists it is not aware of any sensitive information that has been breached or compromised. a growing danger lurking behind the wheel. >> i can't wake them up sometimes. >> reporter: more drugged drivers than police believe they can catch. >> can you put a dent in this 12? >> we're doing our best. >> i could tell there was something definitely wrong. >> tonight, drivers putting lives on the road at risk. >> they're not distracted or drunk. they're drugged.

mitch blocker found out that police are struggle to stop them. >> reporter: kent's fifth day as a pennsylvania state policeman was his last. >> i didn't make it there in time. >> reporter: he didn't die on the job but driving home from it. >> no one deserves to suffer at the hands of a drunk or drugged driver. >> reporter: the driver was going 73 in a 45-mile-an-hour zone. he had oxycodone and vodka in her system. >> she crosses the center line and hits our son head on. >> reporter: 8,000 drivers have been killed or injuries by a drugged driver. and 12,000 have been hurt or killed by someone under the influence of drugs and capital. >> these numbers are a lot higher than what they actually are showing on paper.

>> reporter: the corporal says that is because most police are not trained to detect drugged drivers. in pennsylvania there are 174 drug recognition experts. these office test suspected drugged drivers. but it isn't easy. with alcohol they can use a breathalyzer. but with drugs there needs to be a blood test. that means more time and money. >> we don't test them for drugs because it's a blood test that takes more time. >> you already got them? >> we already got them. >> you don't know how many lives you have saved. >> reporter: andrew is one of 23 drug recognition experts in the state. they train police in their state but say they can't keep up. they've caught people driving on legally prescribed painkillers and illegal stimulants like cocaine. the most common drug now is marijuana. >> we have had an increase, i

windshield. 55 in allentown. the same in wilmington. the beams of the doppler radar are sweeping. in d.c. we have showers and thunderstorms. all of this is moving toward us. you can see the main body of this back across indiana. we are got to see that cross the area before we clear out. that's not going the happen until monday. here comes the rain. tomorrow morning's commute, we could see pockets of heavy rain, maybe an isolated thunderstorm. this continues through 1:30. tomorrow evening around 6:30, heavier showers in philadelphia all the way up into the lehigh valley and even burks county and clearing out friday morning. we could see an isolated shower on friday. for the most part we are looking at conditions improving and our saturday looks good. one forecast model wants to

bring showers in. don't spoil our saturday. this is the pick day. near 80 degrees on saturday. saturday night and sunday, clouds move in. sunday morning in the lehigh valley we see showers that move across the area in the afternoon. then we clear out. same thing happens on monday. we start dry. it's the afternoon that we have to watch for the showers out there. and then, it looks like tuesday, after the holiday is done we see the best chance of clearing. how much rain? an inch or a little bit more through much of the area through friday morning and more over the weekend. your ten-day at 10. showers and storms in the afternoon, the same for monday. 81 on monday. and then we get back to normal conditions or close to average for next week. guys? coming up, they call him the

look at this, a giant work of art. the abstract sculpture has gone up along kelly drive. the 40-foot tall work of art is made of wood and chain link fence and will be on display through the middle of november. a new jersey police officer is credited with rescuing three deer in the past year and the latest was caught on camera.
