getting thunderstorms this afternoon. i think they are going to develop and especially into the evening. we have low clouds around right now. parts of the area may break out. it is very close to where storm ranger 10 right now. we are very close. the closer you are the more accurate the radar can get. this is the very last of the rainfall that's already passed and we can even get down into the streets in florence. columbus getting the very last of this morning's rain. we'll send storm ranger 10 to where the storms will be the worst coming up later today. stay tuned for that. we have some sunshine developing in southern delaware. it will get warm there. this is the area that as it comes into that warm and humid

air will trigger some of those showers and thunderstostorms. not much going ton. then these thunderstorms develop and they start to come up to the northeast. there is 8:00 tonight. these storms have the capability of producing damaging winds and some hail. so we do have some action that's going to be coming in tonight. it will be a very active night for a lot of the area. right now we have temperatures that are only in the 50s across much of the area with that east wind and the clouds. we are going to be seeing those showers and storms develop later today and especially into tonight. more on the timing coming up. >> all right. thank you. >> you can count on the nbc 10 app and weather alerts on the go. you can track the rain and storms right down to your neighborhood. the app is a free download. wet weather effecting the

first day of the horse show. >> they are no strangers to dealing with bad weather. we are live with more on how the rain is effecting the events there, pam. >> reporter: the crowds are deaf niltly a little bit thinner than they normally are. there is plenty of covered space to come out and stay as dry as you can at the same time. organizers tell me the rain isn't going to have any impact on the schedule of events. the course is a little bit muddier. a trainer tells me the horses have been troopers so far this morning. they have been performing really well in the rain. i will say the rain lightened up quite a bit. the people who put this on every year say they hope a little drizzle won't keep fans from coming down. >> these sections where people come and they can watch the show, they are safe from the weather and the climate.

concert. we have more there manchester, england. >> in solidarity with the victims of the u.k.'s worst terrorist attack, the city of manchester observed a minute of silence. also queen elizabeth ii visited some of those injured in the attack as the hunt intensifies for the suicide bomber's accomplices. it shows pictures at a shopping center next to a t arena. he is wearing a blue backpack, the tag still on it. it appears to be the same backpack that three datys later would hold a bomb. british officials are said to be they accused u.s. officials of leaking far too much, hampering

their investigation. a u.s. intelligence official told us british security services failed to pick up clues before the attack and he should not have been on the streets. the bomber was known to british authorities and two of his brothers have been arrested. u.s. and british authorities believe abedi was part of a wider terrorist and that the bomb maker may still be at large. teresa may says she will raise the issues later today saying intelligence shared between law enforcement agencies must be kept secure. nbc news, manchester. >> stay with nbc 10 and the nbc 10 app for continuing coverage. in delaware county investigators at a cvs. he walked into the store and

announced a robbery. he allegedly forced employees into a bathroom. when police arrived police say the suspect ran and hid in the storage room. they negotiated with the gun machblt about an hour and a half later he surrendered. a trial of a man accused of murdering his toddler son. jurors are listening to a secretly recorded conversation between creato and the mother of brendan creato. jurors also took another listen to his 911 call. the jury is now set for bill cosby's sexual assault trial which is set to begin june 5th. of the 12 jurors chosen, two are african american. the jury was picked from a pool of people from allegheny county. the presiding judge disagreed. cosby talked about the jury

picking process. >> i just want to be very specific about the wonderful peop people. and i want to thank the sheriffs department because they made everything very very smooth here. >> cosby has pro claimed his innocence. he does not expect to testify at his trial next month. we are following new details in the death of a pregnant woman whose body was found after a fire in philadelphia. >> kenneth love tells us to testify in a case against her exboyfriend. love says he once dated this man but ended up pressing charges against him for assault and harassment. love says his wife was staying in a rental house. it is unclear how she ended up in a building where firefighters responded on sunday. >> everyone is still in shock and disbelief about this. most of her friends that knew

her recently knew that this could happen. they said stay away from him. he will kill you one day! they say they found eubanks dead. he was not charged before they found his body. time now for a check of the roads. wet for sure. >> yeah. probably is weather causing a lot of congestion this morning. >> yeah. we had a heavy rush shower. right now a lot of things starting to clear up. we had an accident on route 309 right before here. it cleared within the last five minutes. 24 minutes on the eastbound side from the blue route to the vine. speeds still down in the 30. this is around route 1. we are seeing slow speeds in both directions. we were seeing big delays on the eastbound side. it was due to a crash on the eastbound side. it cleared as well. we are going back down.

10 app. president trurch is in brussels attending his first nato summit. >> reporter: the backdrop of mounting tensions between u.s. and british officials. british officials accusing of leaking intelligence and information about the investigation in manchester. teresa may expected to raise this issue with president trump when they meet on the sidelines later on today. there is always deep skepticism after he revealed highly classified information during his recent meetings with russian officials in the oval office. a lot at stake here. the president expected to call on his nato allies to ramp up in the fight against gist and also to increase defense spending.

president trump greeted by thousands of protesters when he arrived here. remember, a lot of folks who live here are still fuming after president trump referred to brussels as a held hole after their terrorist attack last year. nbc news. police in montana have sited a candidate that is happening today. the republican front runner is facing a misdemeanor assault charge after he body slammed a reporter. the reporter made an audio recording because he was recording the interview. take a listen. >> let me talk to you about that later. >> yeah.

>> i'm sick and tired of you guys. the last time you came here you did the same thing. get out of here. >> ben jacobs who recorded that audio says montana republican body slammed him and broke his glasses. the candidate spokesperson says the reporter went into the office without permission. he claimed he tried to grab their phone and they both fell to the ground. he could face six months in jail or $500 fine if convicted. it's not clear if it will effect the outcome of today's special election. >> kind of a nasty start to the day isn't it? still 59 degrees. 50s in most places. we'll be seeing temperatures jump up as we go through the

afternoon. at the shore 59 degrees. wind coming right in off the ocean. it's not going to warm up a lot here. it is 63 at cape may point. we certainly hope that the rest of the holiday weekend is better than today. there is that east wind. watch what happens as we go into the afternoon. we start to get the south to southwest wind. it may warm areas up close to 80 degrees. this is a front sitting up here. that's where thunderstorms are most likely to develop. we'll move in tonight. some of them could be pretty strong with strong gusty winds and maybe even hail. cool to the north. the weekend is warmer with showers especially late sunday

into monday. this is the way the doppler was last night at 11:00. watch the area rain come through right as predicted and ending pretty much as predicted after the morning rush. not exactly great timing. here is the last of it moving up to the north. nothing more than a couple of sprinkles we have been tracking this rain. precipitation has pretty much moved auout of that area now.

so there is 57 to 70. it gets even more extreme with temperature difference and then that helps these storms created in delaware, parts of south jersey. this is shortly after 6:00. look at that. that is really heavy activity. this is strong potentially severe thunderstorms we are getting drier air coming in friday into saturday. not picture perfect but then sunday the next system starts coming in from the west and that's mostly later in the day. it will hit the western suburbs first. it will hit the shore areas later. the weather may be okay for friday, saturday and sunday.

the best chance of showers and storms will be sunday night into monday. so it's not a terrible weekend. certainly better than a lot of memorial day weekends. the temperatures, as you can see, below normal on sunday as we get an east wind. monday we start warming up. again, we have some showers and storms in the forecast. >> all right. thank you. dads, if you have a little girl listen up. even if you have a grown up girl you'll know what i'm talking about. researchers clue us in on why daddy's little girl is much more than just a song.

peop people needed umbrellas this morning. thunderstorms on the way this afternoon for some areas. this is a view from bethiend wheel earlier today going towards the city. here is a live look as it monitors conditions from burlington county. the phillies game is still on for this afternoon. here is a live look at citizens bank park where they are set to play the rockies today at 5:00. the question is will they get the whole game? a live look at the radar showing the heaviest rain has moved out. more showers and storms are on

the way. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with a look at your forecast, glenn. >> yeah. i believe they will be able to play this afternoon. we have kind of a weird picture here. this is east in pennsylvania. we have a lot of clouds. cloud cover throughout the area. you can see that we are still seeing some of that rain up into the lehigh valley. nothing more than a couple of drizzle drops farther to the south. we have storm ranger 10 out in burlington county tracking that rain that came in early this morning. we are going to send it to where the storms are going go this afternoon so we'll be able to get real close to those storms and potentially the strongest storms. not much ton radar now as you can see. we are also seeing a little bit of drying down to the south here. we are going to be watching for that later and this line of showers potentially developing

into thunderstorms later on today. as we go hour by hour not much going on this afternoon. they will be able to play ball. they will be able to go outside and might even be peeks of sunshine especially south jersey. these areas will warm up while it stays in the 50s and low 60s farther to the north. storms are likely to move up into the older air. that's pretty strong storms. that's it for the afternoon rush. the main threat comes after 6:00 tonight. a little bit of twist with those storms. they will be capable of becoming severe at least in parts of the area this evening. that's one thing that storm ranger 10 will have to keep an eye on those storms as well. they will be moving out later on tonight setting us up for better weather tomorrow. it is cool and nasty right now.

been troopers so far this morning. they have been performing really well. here is how she is dealing with rain herself. here is her take on how the weather is impacting people out riding today. >> yeah. i think we needed more plastic clothing than we brought. we are not as wet as the riders. mainly your equipment has to adjust a little bit and your equipment being wet and mainly your rain. you hope you have a dry towel at that gate and other than that you play in the rain. >> okay. so the crowds are a little light. a volunteer tells me that's what to be expected in weather like this. you can see there is plenty of covered areas here. if you want to come down and sit and enjoy the show i recommend you bring a raincoat. i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. we have more details ton deadly plain crash.

the plane crashed short of the airport exploding and killing two people on board. the ntsb issued a preliminary report this morning. it says the pilot was late contacting air traffic control. it also says witnesses saw the plane coming in at a bad angle before crashing. investigators do have the cockpit voice recorder and are transcribing it. they say the u.s. will provide support and assistance to counter terrorism efforts and the u.s. is a proud ally of the philippines. and now the terror in manchester president barack obama says he is heartbroken after the attack after an ariana grande concert.

mr. obama told the crowd the attack sends an important wake up call. >> a reminder there is great danger and terrorism and people who dwould great harm to others just because they are different. a football coach who lost his job is suing to restore his name. the school fired him last year after three fool foot ballplayers were accused of sexually assaulting a younger player. the coach is seeking $50,000 in damages and the superintendent and accuser's father. >> you can put a price tag on a

home. >> nbc 10 reached out to the district attorney's office but they have no comment on this pending litigation. new this morning, a dramatic rescue on new york's hudson river. they pulled a woman to safety after she jumped into the river. it's not clear why the unidentified woman jumped into the chilly water last night. crews got the woman out of the water they took her to a local hospital where she is being treated for nonlife threatening injuries. a slow speed chase ended in a fiery crash in central texas. police started pursuing the rv northeast of dallas after the driver allegedly shot a woman. police said they used spike strips to blow out the rv's tires and slow the pursuit down to about 20 miles per hour. the chase ended on an interstate in arlington where the rv caught fire. in addition to the driver there were two children inside the rv

and both escaped unharmed. no word on the drivers condition. a dump truck flying through a red light in washington state. it t-boned a car and pushes it into that grassy ditch. the truck driver is okay. the car driver had minor injuries. it would require passengers to remove more things from their carry on bags. passengers are trying to cram so many things that the bags are becoming too cluttered. passengers already have to remove laptop computers but now at certain airports they will have to put out any devices larger than a cell phone including tablets and e-readers. they are testing procedures at ten u.s. airports.

a police officer earned the name deer whisperer. >> he rescued three in the last year. the latest was caught on camera. >> oh. >> i didn't know they make that sound. >> the officer crimed into a storm drain after a fawn became trapped. he released the deer back into the woods hoping it will be reunited with its mother. >> deer whisperer. pull out your red noses, folks. >> plenty of laughs expected tonight on nbc 10. >> how many times have i told you not to dance downstairs? >> once or twice. >> this is all far serious cause, funny red nose, serious cause. the film reunites to put an end to child poverty.

this morning a two-year-old boy was found near 5th and lombard street. police searching for his parents. they don't know where they are. he has black pants and red shoes on. he is safe. i'm told by my producer that they did just find the parents. the parents have been found. tim furlong is in the area. we hope to get more information coming up in the next ten minutes. red news day. this thing won't quite stay on my face. it raises money to assist children in poverty around the world.

police shutting down 295, the southbound ramp. that's the exit. police are on the scene. we are working to get more information on why the ramp is closed. but if you're heading out avoid that area. make sure you have the nbc 10 app so you get updates on when the ramp reopens. you may be making plans for a barbecue or for a trip to the shore. five of philadelphia's brightest young women will be competing at the grand national speech and debate tournament. it is through a terrific program monica is a senior. they were champions. first of all, congratulations. after school activities

partnerships. it offers scrabble, chess, a lot more but you decided to get involved in debate. >> yes. for three years. >> tell me how you found your way to debalt. >> we have been friends for 12 years. going through school and discussing everything and decided why not give it a shot. >> our high school already has so many clubs. it's like we already do this on an every day basis with teachers. might as well get into politics. >> what has it been like? >> it has been crazy to be honest. the knowledge i have gained over these past three years is that i did not get in the classroom is so many experiences around the city and the state as well. it really just made my high school experience. >> and it really made -- the skills you have learned have become articulate and really speak your mind. i'm guessing it adds to your

confidence. >> i think my public speaking skills have gotten so much better. through debate we kind of both flourished. we are not afraid to speak our minds or go out and compete. >> but it costs money to travel. >> yeah. it actually does. we have a fundraiser going on where we are trying to help out. we have six students now going. >> good. >> one of our other competitors is going. costs went a little bit up. we are hopeful. >> congratulations to all six of you. you graduating now. what's next for for two of you? >> yufrlt of pennsylvania, direction -- university of pennsylvania. >> thank you. zblood luck with the fundraiser.

that a look. 70s in delaware right now. 76 in bridgeville and 75 in green wootd. even 72 in lieu wis. it's going to keep warming up. it is going to get to 80 down here or maybe even higher. it stays closer to 60 farther to the north. big difference. 11:30 last night bewere showing you rain about to move in. it was solid and messed up the morning rush. still drizzle drops left but nothing like what we saw. look how fast that's moving out. with the sunshine developing down in sut earn delaware we are going to see some of that lead to thunderstorms.

so here we are in the afternoon. temperatures getting into the 70s in dover and staying in the 50s in the lehigh valley. watch the storms develop as we go into this. this is after the afternoon rush basically. those storms then move up through the rest of the area. any where in the area is vulnerable to thunderstorms but it's generally between 6:00 and 9:00 tonight. later on things just dry out. it sets us up for a nicer day tomorrow. not picture perfect but getting into the 70s. saturday the nice and then sunday could even start off okay. then the system comes in from the west. we have got showers and storms for later sunday and sunday night. so the best day of the weekend is saturday. want your barbecues, beach days?

better on saturday. 72 at the jersey shore saturday and in the 60s on sunday. most of the day on sunday is dry. monday still has dry periods too. none of those weekend days are wash outs. but watch this. the saturday high 78 degrees, generally dry. there are the storms late sunday into memorial day. temperatures are starting to go back up to 80 degrees or even higher. we get finally some drier days tuesday through thursday. it has been a very wet month of may. that has helped to keep the temperature down but it's going to go back up by memorial day. we'll be right back. we just moved into this house
