the breaking news happening right now. new york airports terminal "a" is being evacuated after a pressure cooker was found at the terminal. the bomb squad is heading to the airport. that information just came in about 30 minutes ago from authorities, the port authority of new york and new jersey. we're following that breaking news and we'll bring you updates as soon as more information becomes available. also breaking, music legend gregg allman died at his home in savannah, georgia, today.

in march he canceled all performances for the year due to health issues. he and his older brother formed the bluesy man. allman was 69 years old. a loss for the phillies family. hall of fame pitcher jim bunning has died. bunning played for the phillies for six seasons. he pitched one of the perfect games in modern national league history in 1964. he also served in congress and in the senate representing kentucky. bunning was 85 years old. and coming up in sports, reaction from larry, as the phillies honor bunning's legacy. turning now to the memorial day weekend weather. at the shore, in philadelphia, and in wilmington, people enjoyed the seasonable weather today as the rain held off through the morning and early afternoon. right now light rain is moving

over delaware and the jersey shore. but for the most part the kickoff to memorial day weekend has been pretty good. first alert meteorologist erica has the latest of what to expect. >> we had a pretty nice day all around. temperatures topped out at 73 degrees today at philadelphia international airport today. just four degrees below the average. overall, a pretty nice day. current temperatures around the jersey shore, we're seeing lots of mid-60s. upper township 65. a little warmer for may's landing at 68. many of you headed to the shore right now. and also tracking showers earlier for delaware. currently seeing lots of upper 60s. lower 60s at newark for 63. glasgow seeing lower 60s right now. southeasterly influence with the winds. mill boro 72.

longneck, current temperature 66 degrees. picking up on clouds moving in by tomorrow. and i do think we'll see some showers coming in for the second half of your sunday. possibly some isolated thunderstorms. certainly for memorial day. so coming up in your most accurate full forecast, we're going to talk about what to expect for your memorial day monday. because unfortunately, i'll see some washouts for those barbecues. >> live music on the waterfront right now at the first hoagie nation festival. andrea cline-thomas is there tonight. a lot going on there tonight. >> reporter: you can hear how much is going on. people continue to come in. artists from all different genres here. take a look, this is just one of three stages here. now, this festival isn't just about music, it's about celebrating philadelphia.

travelers are stranded tonight as british airways struggles to fix a global computer failure. all flights from london are canceled for the rest of the day. now, flights to heathrow ain't from philadelphia was canceled this afternoon. the airline has not said what's causing the problem. it hopes to restore service by tomorrow. all new at 6:00, a philadelphia teenager is being called a hero tonight for rescuing a baby from a burning home in overbrook. it happened around 10:30 this morning on flanders road. three adults and four kids escaped. the teen ran into the burning home and grabbed the paeb. the 17-year-old collapsed from smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital. no word on his condition. in delaware county, a man was found shot to death inside a car in chester last night. police found the 28-year-old on madison street. they say he had been shot multiple times in the chest and the stomach. in new castle county, teens

were sleeping in a home when it was peppered with bullets early this morning. police responded to a call in rosegate after the caller heard gunshots. officers saw the home with bullet holes, forced their way inside to find the five teens inside the home. they were doing okay. police are asking anyone with information to give them a call. and to wilmington now, three men are recovering after being shot last night. police say the shooting happened on dupont street around 11:30 p.m. a 60-year-old was found shot in the arm not far from there. a 46-year-old and a 25-year-old showed up at the hospital both shot in the stomach. all three are expected to survive. a septa officer is recovering after a driver smashed into a cruiser this morning. that driver who initially ran away is now under arrest. the crash happened around 2:00 this morning at broad and butler streets. no one was seriously hurt.

take a look at this. a crowd gathered to watch a building implosion today in central pennsylvania. the senate plaza in camp hill near harrisburg was demolished to make room for a new development. in chester county, the newly renovated garden opened to the public. this is the video while the

brand-new images of the manchester bomber from the night of the deadly terror attack. salman abedi set up a suicide bomb outside an ariana grande concert monday killing 22 people and injuring dozens more. now they hope people can give them more details about what abedi was doing in the days before the attack.

police did not think he acted alone. they have arrested 13 people in connection with the investigation. president trump is back in the united states tonight. he capped off his first overseas trip while in office with an address to u.s. military personnel based in italy. >> terrorism is a threat, bad threat to all of humanity. together we will overcome this threat. >> the president said his nine-day trip was a success. he called it a truly historic week for our country. this is not just another holiday weekend for many americans who are using these days off to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. nbc 10's drew smith is live in independence mall with a look how people are honoring our heroes. drew? >> reporter: good evening. the city has been packed today, especially down here in the historic area. a lot of these landmarks

offering special programming dedicated to the true meaning behind this holiday. the sounds of the 1700s here in the city where the continental commission first commissioned the army, navy, and marine corps more than 200 years ago. in camden county, a more solemn ceremony. >> a day of remembrance. >> reporter: including the reading of the local men and women killed in action in 21st century conflicts. >> the mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, have a memorial every day. we share this just a day a year with them. >> reporter: historians explore the birth of the holiday after the civil war. >> we go back to the history of declaration day. >> reporter: the resting place of hundreds of veterans decorated with wreaths, flags and rose petals. >> if you don't keep marking those graves each year, people will forget the veterans. and then they forget the stories of the war.

>> reporter: the presentation included many veterans themselves, promising to keep history alive for future generations in honor of their comrades who weren't able to return home. >> there are a lot of veterans out here. a lot of them have made the ultimate sacrifice here. and we do not want them to be forgotten here. >> reporter: and later on tonight, in just about 45 minutes, nbc universal will present a memorial salute with the phillies pop at the mann center. already 12,000 tickets have been reserved. drew smith, nbc 10 news. the summer season is unofficially under way and some kicked it off with a memorial beach challenge. some people took on a challenge in the sand, inspired by military training. >> army crawls, going under things, over things, over walls, et cetera. >> it is kind of based on if you

were to be a navy s.e.a.l. training. to bring that ey go through in to ocean of the memorial beach challenge benefit the 31 heroes project. it's an organization that helps service members, veterans and their families. it was a perfect afternoon to brush off the grill and get cooking. doesn't that look good? one family enjoyed their saturday with a barbecue in fairmount park. depending where you are, your backyard barbecue might be a little rainy right now. it looks like the rain is moving in later. erika? >> that's right, very important forecast around here, no pressure at all. conditions right now are dry over center city. as you just mentioned, we're still seeing scattered showers moving through parts of delaware right now. satellite radar image picking up on those returns.

you can see the green moving from the northwest to the southeast. clouds sticking around, especially for parts of the jersey shore. a wider perspective gives us a little hint as to why things are happening. we're seeing lightning strikes to the southwest of our viewing area. notice here we do have the area of low pressure that's going to be diving on down. this will be the weathermaker late sunday into monday. we'll essentially have a lot of rain on monday and the threat of some isolate thunderstorms. so locally, once again, notice we're seeing green moving through parts of jersey shore as well as delaware. so keep that in mind. not completely dry, not yet. at least farther north, for philadelphia, we're definitely seeing drier conditions. here's a look at the current temperatures. mainly 70s right now. a little cooler at wilmington at 65 degrees. 64 for dover. millville currently at 62 degrees. trenton 10 degrees warmer at 72. mt. pocono, current temperature 65 degrees.

l lancaster currently at 71. we're definitely going to see plenty of clouds across the entire delaware valley. see how we pretty much stay in the 50s and 60s overnight. conditions are going to be pretty comfortable as far as temperatures are concerned. what i'm tracking will be the development of that low as it moves in from the midwest into our area. of course, as those showers start to develop, what to expect late sunday into monday, especially for your memorial day. so hour by hour forecast starting at 6:00 p.m., we are seeing breaks in those clouds, kind of what you just saw in the satellite and radar image. i paused this by tomorrow morning, 8:00 a.m. notice how we do have pretty much mostly cloudy overcast skies for tomorrow. then we start to see some light showers moving into the area. spotty at best. by about 5:00, 6:00 p.m. but this is when everything starts to move in. by tomorrow 11:00 p.m., we still have showers moving in.

i'm not going to clear the showers out because i think the area of low pressure could make it here a little bit earlier. keep that in mind. and then early monday morning, we do have some rain in the forecast. so it's going to be a little bit soggy on monday. but at least what we're seeing is a climb in those temperatures. expected high temperature for tomorrow, 75 degrees. notice i do have p.m. rain. we could see rounds of thunder late sunday into monday. 81 expected high on memorial day, and possible thunderstorms there. a mix of sunny clouds on tuesday. i did add a chance of some showers late tuesday and wednesday. upper 70s on thursday. by friday, we start to see pretty much temperatures consistently in the upper 70s to low 80s. my pick of the following week, saturday with lots of sunshine. 79 degrees. i'm tracking some showers that could make it here by the following sunday and monday. so keep in mind for those barbecues on monday, just have the umbrellas handy. not going to be a total washout.

we'll have periods of rain and the threat of the isolated thunderstorms. denise, back to you. update to the breaking news we brought you from north jersey. the port authority said a suspicious package found at terminal "a" in new york airport is now cleared. and paenls are being let back into the airport after an evacuation about an hour ago. there will be some residual delays for travelers. here's danny pamel with your sports. hey, denise. saying good-bye to a legend. jim bunning has died. hear from one of his former teammates and what it was like to play with the stalwart pitcher. the phillies respond with offense against the reds. that, and much more coming up in sports.

the phillies, one of two in franchise history. halladay has the other. bunning spent six seasons with the titans. one of five numbers retired by the club. bench coach, a former teammate of bunning, tells us what bunning meant to the phillies organization. >> tremendous competitor. taught me a lot. i never had a pitcher take me under his wing. usually it's an everyday player. he told me about being a high energy type guy, being able to self-evaluate yourself, never quit. i remember when i came into camp, he said keep your mouth shut and your ears and eyes open. i said, yes, sir. what a tremendous individual. i used to, when we west into cincinnati, he lived close there and would come to the games. always used to say stay humble, this game will drop you to your knees. it was a pleasure playing behind him because you know he cared. >> they hung 14 in the dugout
