swing. and remembering a rock icon. greg allman died at age 69. >> nbc 10 news starts now. why did i go through another fire to get anathinger baby, i'd do it. >> and that 17-year-old rudy edwards talking to nbc 10 from his hospital bed after he saved his one-year-old nephew from a burning home. rudy is now being hailed as a hero for what he did and family members say if it wasn't for him, that baby would have died in the fire. andrea cline-thomas spoke with rudy. what a brave teen. >> reporter: so curages. and he's doing well tonight. he just had to spend the night in the hospital. he says he loves his nephew so much and that's why he didn't think twice about running into his burning home.

>> our 3-year-old granddaughter came up stairs and said there was a fire. >> the fire from a toaster oven spread quickly. on flanders road in over brook. >> i did a head count. >> a one-year-old was still inside. >> i came out through the front door. and everybody's like bryce is in the house. without no hesitation or thinking i just went inside the house to go get him. >> rudy edwards is only 17 years old. a 10th grader. he shares what happens next. >> he called and i heard him on the couch and i couldn't see and so i'm tapping around and i felt him. >> he grabbed his nephew and ran out of the house. >> it happened in 20 seconds but felt like a lifetime. >> reporter: rudy passed out

overcome by the smoke. tonight the family is grateful as they hail rudy a hero. a new title that he says makes him proud. >> if i got to go through another fire to go get another baby, i will do it. i'll do it again. >> reporter: what an amazing kid. now some -- 10 people lived in the home, eight were home at the thie time of the fire. they've lost all their belongings and have to start the daunting process of starting over. andrea cline-thomas. > . ♪ a night of entertainment in fair mont park. they hosted the memorial salute at the man's center. the philly pop orchestra,

through early tomorrow morning, mainly in the 60s. however, the big story is while we are seeing a nice started to the day, it looks like we will start to see showers move into our area. lehigh valley at 6:00 a.m., temperatures in the mid-60s. clouds start to develop as the it day progresses. jersey shore we're seeing more clouds there and that's because we have a southeasterly influence. and your hour by hour forecast starting at 11:00 a.m. we are tracking some showers moving in for the second half of your sunday and i do think those showers will be out for it second half of your memorial day. a legendary music duo took the stage on the water front tonight at the first ever pohe nation festival. daryl hall and john oats played for the crowd just a few hours

forget the stories of the war. >> and a reading of the names of local men and women killed in action in 21st century conflicts. keep track of the weather and all the memorial day weekend events with the free nbc 10 app. well, new at 11:00 two cars crashed and one overturned catching fire in a deadly accident in salem county. multiple people were killed. state highway 56 were killed. happened just after 7:00. at landes avenue in pits grove township. well, the music world is in mourning. legendary rocker greg allman, the front man for the allman brothers band has died. ♪ >> allman passed away at his home in savannah, georgia today. they canceled all performances for the year due to health

issues. allman and his older brother performing songs like "rambling man" and "midnight rider." allman was 69 years old. and a loss for the phillies family. haul of famp pitcher, jim bunning pitched one of the first perfect games in national league history with the phillies in 1964 and he served in congress and in the senate representing kentucky. he was 85 years old. and coming up in sports reaction as the phillies honor bunning's legacy. and the phillies posted this picture of bunning's jersey with a caption that says forever a phillies legend. rest in peace, jim. the new york airport has been given the all clear after a discovery of a pressure cooker.

stranded. they hope to restore service tomorrow. a flight from philadelphia was canceled this afternoon. the airline has not said what's causing the issue. if you eat at chipotle, the restaurant says it's been hacked and your data may have been stolen. chipotle says most of its restaurants have been impacted. it's another hit for the chain that had just recovered from a string of food safety lapses. next the one shore town that's updating the way they handle public parking. i'm tracking some rain for your memorial day but i do have good news. it looks liking a lot of that rain will be out for the second half of your monday. details coming up in your accurate and most positive forecast.

some people celebrated the unofficial kick off of summer with a grill. serving up hamburgers, hot dogs and grilled chicken. planes took the skies for the millville air show taking daring twists and turns. a show continues at the army air field museum tomorrow. and a popular jersey shore destination is making it easier to park.

for you hour by hour. we're not seeing a lot as far as clouds go. a wideer perspective. however, we are tracking an area of low pressure across the great lakes. we get that energy moving through. that will trigger thunderstorms. i'll time it out for you hour by hour. we'll start this at midnight. we start see it more moisture moving in to the area. that's telling you we have mid and upper level moisture in the form of clouds. by 3:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon we're seeing showers flirting. and lots of rain moving in. i do think we'll see isolated thunderstorms late sunday into monday. so be sure to tune in tomorrow night because this is when we'll see isolated thunder storms from west to east.

bunning. for phillies fans he was always connected with father's day. it was on that day that bunning threw a perfect game. his number 14, one of five numbers retired for the club. larry bowau, a former teammate talked about what he meant to the phillies organization. >> what a tremendous individual. he lived close there and come to the games. always used to say stay humble. this game will drop you to your knees. you know that he cares. he was as competitive as pitcher as i've ever seen. >> they honored bunning during the game with reds this afternoon. bottom first. phillies fighting out of a 2-0 hole but not for long. they tied next inning on the michael saunders round tripper. tommy joseph turns on that one.
