tonight on nbc 10 holiday storms. we're tracking rain that could impact the rest of your holiday weekend plans. a brother and sister found dead inside their home after they were shot in the head. and now nbc 10 is speaking with the victim's family. and sliding away, a little boy goes flying off a waterslide as a holiday celebration turns into a terrifying moment. right now we're tracking rain that could cut your holiday weekend celebrations short. take a look at the nbc 10 first alert weather radar. good evening, i'm denise nakano. for that we turn to meteorologist erika martin.

and the rain could change some plans. >> that's right. but i want to add a little positive spin on it. it looks like the rain and clouds will clear by the first half of monday. right now you can see the flag blowing. the winds are in fact moderate, so not that bad. ranging anywhere from 8 miles per hour for allantown, 9 for atlantic city, and 12 for allenwood. any storms coming in our direction, i don't think they have much of a chance. i'll show you in that just one moment. current temperature 59 degrees. parkway current temperature is 60 degrees. now, satellite radar image just saw this loop here. going to see plenty of cloud and pockets of rainstorm just starting to enter lee valley. we do have this area of low

pressure just offshore. so this really is providing a lot of the moisture we do need to pump up, a lot of this rain moving through our area. we do have a cold front sweeping on it through, and that will trigger some thunderstorms. coming up in just a bit i do have your out the door forecast. and a wet night at the jersey shore sent some people off the beaches early. nbc 10 drew smith is live tonight in ocean city. drew, what's it like there now? >> reporter: well, it started as a light rain but it pouring on the boardwalk right now. we're hiding under a little awning, but there were a couple of people brave enough to come out on the boardwalk. boardwalk businesses closed

tonight. they're hoping they can salvage some business after a bit of a washout tonight. the little ones managing to have a little fun with the dreary weather. it didn't stop these parasail riders out on the ocean either. but the place to be was under the roof. >> just enjoying the rides. >> visits up to this weekend had been very busy, but they'll count on some more soon to bring beach goers back. >> every season is a good season. but you hope it's busy, hope there's good weather. that's what we thrive off of. >> it was a scramble to get the band equipment back into the truck as the rain rolls in. they postpone the music until tomorrow, but we found people looking on the bright side. >> it's been beautiful. i know it's a little cloudy, a little cool, but i don't mind at all. i like when the beach is empty.

>> reporter: many families heading back out on the sand if the weather clears tomorrow. if not, there's still plenty to do. and you can see there are still people out here on the boardwalk, a lot of people getting some late night pizza, but it's getting pretty soggy by the time they get back to their homes, to their hotels out here. if you're visiting down at the shore, you're going to make sure your your car is away from those areas that typically flood. high tide coming in this hour. i'm drew smith nbc 10 news. family and friends held their an world war --

hundreds of bikers raured through the streets of washington, d.c. for the annual rollingtheneder ride for freedom. bikers crossed arlington thunder bridge into d. c. it's the 30th year for the event. and taking a look at i-95. you can expect to see plenty of traffic asthma morrial day wraps up tomorrow. more than 200 million drivers will hit the roadways, and that figure includes more than half a million drivers tomorrow alone. well, tonight a brother and sister are dead after philadelphia police found them shot in the head inside their home. nbc 10 andrea thomas is live outside police headquarters with

more on what happened. andrea. >> reporter: well, neighbors tell us they saw the woman who lived in the home on fraet evening, less than 48 hours later they learned that the woman and her brother were dead. >> we're going to get you. believe me, it's not the end. it's not the end. >> reporter: anger and frustration after her brother and sister were found murdered in their kensington home. >> my brother raymond was a good brother. he didn't deserve that. tina was a god fearing woman. she didn't deserve that. >> reporter: police arrived around 9:00 this morning. the 53-year-old woman was shot once in the head and found in a second floor bedroom her brother was shot in the head and stomach. a neighbor made the discovery. they knocked on the door, and that's when we heard screaming

outside. >> reporter: children's toiz left on the first step. to honor a woman who was a mother to many. >> she gave out lunches to kids who didn't have food in the summer. she cleaned the block. she threw block parties. she was a good woman. >> reporter: neighbors are shocked. the family is left with two times the grief. the sister rosoly dupree has message for the killer. >> all i ask you to do is turn yourself in. >> reporter: at this hour no arrests have been made. police have also not recovered a weapon. if you have any information, give them a call. new at 11:00 we're getting our first look at a barn fire

collapse. the front wall going down last night. he tells us fire officials arrived just outside walnut court. the fires are taking a tol not only the neighbors of the victims but firefighters are doing everything they can to save lives. we spoke with firefighters and neighbors who watched the deadly fire unfold. >> reporter: through the window you can see the flames, the intense fire burning inside the home of 6th street, right around the corner of him. he came outside to see the flames. >> it looked like an inferno. >> reporter: and his neighbor who had escaped the fire and was looking for help. >> i heard somebody saying please help me, help me, my kids are there. >> reporter: family members say

9-year-old prudence and 7-year-old dean died. and their grandmother monique guillory also died. in the backyard, toys untouched from the fire. while in front and outside crews continue their work today trying to figure out what caused the deadly blaze. firefighters also coming to terms with the second straight weekend of deadly fires, this one fought by almost 100 firefighters. >> despite our best efforts, it's just too late. >> reporter: the fire commission says it could take some time to learn what caused this fire. we noticed someone brought by flowers, three flowers after three lives lost. in north philadelphia i'm lauren make, nbc 10 news. in mississippi a man is charged with eight murders after

he went on a shooter spree. he started with a man and his estranged wife over their children. an sheriff's officer is one of the victims. he was called to investigate and when he got there he was shot and killed. >> i was having a conversation with her mama, my wife about me taking my children home. and somebody called the officers. my intentions was to have them kill me. i ran out of bullets. >> reporte >> he suffered a gone shot wound and was taken to the hospital. the usa pacific command tracked the launch from north korea's east coast. the missile was tracked for six minutes until it landed in the sea of japan.

the north american airspace command says it poses no threat to north america. and believed to be a scud, it traveled about 280 miles from where it was launched. a philadelphia staple is closing up shop to make way for a new business on a busy center corner. plus a race car flew into the air, burst into flames, and smashed into a concrete barrier. but officials say it could have been much worse. now, denise, your memorial day forecast is so important. so coming up after the break i have two models. we're going to compare and talk about what to expect for your monday morning and whether or not those barbecues will be a washout.

officials at a water park in california have some explaining

to do after a 10-year-old boy is launched off this water slide. now, you can see the boy fly out of the end of the three story slide. and somehow the boy only suffered scrapes and bruises. but it looks like it could have been much worse. the ride was shutdown while officials tried to figure out what went wrong. former indy 500 champion scott dixon is lucky to be alive after this wreck today. they got crossed up coming out of turn 2, and dixon's car went flying. you can see his car getting torn to pieces. the crash delayed the race for several minutes. both drivers are doing fine. now, if you're on the fence about a home security system, this might help you make up your mind. watch this fedexdelivery worker swipe some cash. another family member was actually able to track the

driver down, and he returned the money. well, president trump is back on u.s. soil following his first trip to europe and the middle east since taking office. and at the center of his homecoming is more russia turmoil. "the washington post" is reporting that son-in-law jared kushner proposed secret back channel communication between the kremlin and the trump transition team to avoid u.s. surveillance. >> my dashboard warning light was clearly on, and i think that was the case with all of us in the intelligence committee. >> there ought to be a review of his security clearance to find out whether he was truthful, whether he was canned dud. >> the white house has not officially responded to "the washington post" report. a center city late night staple is getting ready to close its doors for good. little peat dinner is getting

ready to serve up its final meals at 11:55 a.m. according to city notices the diner will be torn down to make room for a new hotel. memorial day fireworks. the sky lit up in all sorts of colors. but the rain could soon put a damper on celebrations for the rest of the weekend. erika. >> so here's the deal, denise, you do have some rain into tonight and through to tomorrow. here's your coastal flood advisory issued. we are expecting some minor flooding. this is in effect until 3:00 a.m. monday morning. a live look outside. we are seeing lots of rain along the shore. keep in mind, we are seeing

heavier down pours farther south. and we're also seeing some heavy pockets of rain, especially for parts of lee high valley. so water perspective, what's going on here? why are we seeing all this rain? you can see they area of high pressure feeding just off the atlantic. we do see that onshore push is giving us all that moisture. it will start to trigger some thunderstorms later tonight into tomorrow. locally right now we're seeing rain, especially heavier parts in parks of lee high county as well. it's a little less for parts of the philly metro area, more rain for the jersey shore and for the lee high valley. so if you're up there, further south, keep that in mind. and keep your umbrellas handy

because you will need them at least through the early part of tomorrow. current temperature 60 degrees, along with summer point, 59 degrees. and atlantic city current temperature 50 degrees for you. and jersey also seeing pretty mild conditions as far as temperatures go. lots of upper 50s. florington 60, and prince 1 degree cooler at 57 degrees. as i mentioned before the break, we're going to compare two weather models. this is our nam, north american model. by early tomorrow morning notice we're seeing pockets of red and oranges telling us we do have some rain moving through the area. this model actually picks up everything clearing by about 2, 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. also pushing you through tomorrow, we're going to start this at 11:00 p.m. and and i'm going to stop this by tomorrow

morning, this model favors most of the rain clearing through the day but still keeping the clouds around. what i recommend is keep the umbrellas handy, because you will need them. i usually like to split the differences in these cases, so i'm going to go somewhere through the late morning, afternoon hours. for the most part showing showers moving into our viewing area. no one is going to exempt. splitting the difference here, model really hasn't been agreed match that happens during the year as we go into spring and summer, doesn't pick up all the map it needs to. but i'm sure it's going to clear early and love us some of the monday. and here's danny now with your sports. >> aghaedetails are coming up a

martin. >> models right now are favoring most of those rain showers will move out at least by the second half of the day. easterly winds 10 miles per hour, and through the overnight hour pretty much going to keep it in the 60s. i do want to show you wider perspective am. notice we're seeing some lightening strikes for parts of western pennsylvania. and that's where the cold front is starting to move on through. once it starts to approach our viewing area, we're going to see a kick up of that energy. right now we're mainly seeing rain, pockets of heavy down pours especially through lee high valley and through the metro area, we're seeing some passing showers. we're going to stop this at 3:00 a.m. you see some pockets of oranges and red. heavier downpour with isolated threat of hail and thunderstorms. this is just some isolated

thunderstorms moving through the area, not packing too much of a punch. what does that mean as far as severe thunderstorm risk goes? nonsevere, that means we're just seeing some thunderstorms, threat of lightening, possibly some small hail. we're going to talk about what to expect for your monday morning and do you have to cancel the barbecue, i've got some details coming up. thanks, erika. here's a look at some of the top stories we're following right now. tonight three people are dead, two tof them children. just after 5:00 this morning. 100 firefighters worked to try to put the fire out quickly. they were able to rescue one child. a 7 and 9-year-old died in the fire and so did their grandmother. a brother and sister were found dead inside this home in

kensington. police were called to clearfield street around 9:00 this morning. both victims were found with gunshot wounds to the head. a family member discovered their bodies. the shooter is still at large. well, lots of hoods and umbrellas out on ocean city's boardwalk tonight. and a concert had to be postponed until tomorrow. many of the families we spoke to say they're planning to head back out on the sand if the weather clears tomorrow. police responding to reports of gunshots found a young man who had been shot several times in the face and neck. he was taken topen hospital where he later died. no suspects are in custody. tonight the american red cross are helping 16 people who are still out of their homes after a fire in overbrook yesterday. one of the teens who lived in the home ran back inside to save

his 1-year-old nephew. fire officials say a toaster is to blame. new details tonight on deadly crash in pittsburgh township. police tell us the driver of a truck was hit head on in on coming traffic. it happened just after 7:00 last night. both drivers were killed, two teenagers survived. the pennsylvania state police is warning rez dependents to be on the look out for a telephone snooping scam. police say the scam seems to be coming from a number linked to state police station. they tell the person they're being investigated by the fbi for tax evasion and must make an immediate $8,000 payment. tonight a parachutest is dead after he crashed into the water when his parachute

malfunctioned. police say the member had some problems with his parachute. he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. the piece of the broken chute paer apparently cut loose during the fall. after munorrial break lawmakers will be able to question fbi director james comey with meetings he had with president trump. the two men have very different versions of what happened. nbc 10 rosemary conners and our partners at factcheck.org looked at the two accounts at odds. >> he's a showboat. he's a grand standard. the fbi has been in turmoil. you know that, i know that, everybody knows that. >> reporter: in an exclusive interwith lester holt president trump defends his decision to fire fbi director james comey.

on january 27th, they had dinner at the white house. president trump told holt he thinks comey asks for the meeting. but the former dreshlgt of national intelligence james clapper tells a different story. clapper said he talked to comey that day at fbi headquarters. >> he was told by comey that it was at trump's request, and clapper sensed that comey was a little uneasy with it. >> reporter: several people close to comey anonymously during "the times" during the dinner the president asked comey to pledge his aleejsance to him. >> the president denied making that request. also at the same dinner meeting there was a discussion, according to trump, about whether trump himself was under an investigation. >> i said if it's possible, will you let me know am i under investigation? he said you are not under investigation. >> comey's associates also

reject that, saying that comey did not say this at the dinner meeting or at any other time. >> reporter: on february 14th, the two men met privately again. shortly after the meeting comey wrote a memo claiming the president asked him to drop the fbi investigation of michael flynn who resigned the day before as national security advisor. >> did you at any time urge former fbi director james comey to back down on the investigation of michael flynn? and also as you look back -- >> no, no. next question. >> reporter: the white house released a statement saying the reported memo is not an accurate and truthful portrayal of the conversation between the president and mr. comey. an atv rider is in the hospital with serious injuries after a collision today with a train. it happened in the middle of river area baltimore. investigators say none of the passengers or crew on the

volunteers brave the elements today to honor a memorial day tradition at arlington national cemetery. 160,000 roses were placed on graves today. it's an annual event that began

back in 2011 and will continue tomorrow when many of those same volunteers will hand out another 30,000 roses to family members and fallen troops. memorial day weekend also marks graduation day at west point akatdomy. and giving new meaning to the term band of brothers. meet the brothers. they became the first set of siblings to graduate from west point at the same time in more than three decades. military service is a trait that runs in the family. the boy's parents both served in the u.s. coast guard. and now the trail of second lieutenants have to deal with the prospect of serving apart. >> in training or deployed in a combat scenario, there's always a chance something could go wrong. but we accept that risk. especially as sib lgz, very fortunate. >> the sib blgz have another

brother who is the oldest of the four and the only member of the family that's nonmilitary. instead of using what could be addictive pain killers, now there's a new way. the unconventional treatment when found by accident by a doctor who was studying virtual reality for conditions. the patient's pain disappeared and disappeared quickly. >> it disappeared for at least a week, and for some people they have many months of the pain relief. >> experts say it works by tricking the brain. things are almost back to normal after system wide failure in computers yesterday. in fact all flights into hethrow and out had no issues. it operated on louis normal schedule today, but there were still some long lines of people

waiting at hethrow today. the company said there was no evidence of an cyber attack. 14 people have been arrested in connection with last week's suicide bombing outside an ariana grande concert. two people have been released. 12 are still in custody for questioning. 22 people died in monday night's attack. two people are dead and one person is missing after a car was swept away by raging flood waters in branson, missouri. it happened around 7:30 this morning. a powerful storm dumped 5 inches of rain putting branson under a flash flood emergency. several drivers were stranded trying to cross flooded roads. i'm first alert meteorologist erika martin with your first alert forecast. pick up some rain moving across the delaware valley. notice some pockets north and

west of the metro area. the lee high valley right now just over an inch per hour for shoe makersville. for the jersey shore we're also seeing heavier pockets of downpours. and for the most part conditions right now are going to be light to moderate rain moving across the region. but through the overnight hours we're going to see more rain and pockets. in fact already had some wind and damage reports, downed trees as well. we may see some reports of perhaps some damage tomorrow especially through the overnight hours because we may see one or two thunderstorms. but for the most part we're just seeing some rain moving through the area. current temperatures right now

in the upper 50s, low 60s. mount poke no keeping it in the low 50s at 53. trenton at 58. and melville current temperature 60 decrease for you. so of course we're going to time out hour by hour what you can expect tomorrow. we're seeing heavy pockets of downpour. this is where this cold front is dipping down. as it approaches us, it will start to trigger those thunderstorms. and notice we're still seeing that onshore influence. we get this going through early tomorrow morning at 5:00 a.m. and a lot of us may still be headed to work. so keep in mind, give yourself some extra time. i'd also like to add some patchy fog. the north american model is picking up all that rain clearing in our area.

however, our other model picks it up earlier. in fact those pockets clearing by early tomorrow morning. so i'm going to split the difference. i do think this will clear late morning, early afternoon hours. we may see one or two stray showers. but i do think a lot of it will clear for the first half of your monday. we do have that a.m. rain for monday with the threat of thunderstorms. i'm also keeping that rain late tuesday into wednesday. and i do think we'll see some fog late tuesday into wednesday. and another cold front moving on threw. tracking some more rain friday into saturday, possible thunderstorms next sunday. so tomorrow's barbecue, i don't think it's going to be a total washout. as we mentioned earlier you're going to need the umbrella for a few hours. >> and not much of an issue for people traveling back home later in the day. >> not at all.
