nothing to do with alcohol this a police report is not backing up that claim. tiger says this was all because of a a reaction he had to prooibed medication for back pain. the police report says an officer found woods asleep at the wheel near his home in jupiter, florida. he was alone in his car wearing a seat belt with the car's engine running and the lights on. police also say he was confused and asked how far he was from home. in that report, it says woods was cooperative and failed a sobriety test showing no signs in his urine. he's taking time off from the pga tour while he recovers. the 41-year-old is now scheduled to appear july 5th in court on that dui charge. we're live, erin coleman, nbc 10 news. turning to our weather now and that glow that the good news will soon be going away.

the umbrellas were out as the rain came down. things are far from picture perfect. a to devoid of sun. >> we are keeping our eye on the radar where there are storms moving out west. but as is often the case, whether or not you get wet depends on where you live. this is where that neighborhood weather comes into play. let's get right to first alert meteorologist glenn schwartz. >> some big changes on the way. >> this picture will not look like this by this time tomorrow. once again, overcast, the tops of the buildings cut off by the low clouds. and it is getting a little bit foggy around here too. and that will continue during the night. the last of today's showers are exiting while we watch for another area in central pennsylvania. so the last of the ones in that pretty much in cape may county here. and fairly heavy rain near

avalon right now. that will be moving offshore within the next hour or so. then we watch these storms in central and western pennsylvania. they have been pretty potent. but as they move into all this cloudness and the east wind and the chilly air, those are not ingredients to develop thunderstorms. so watch what happens to these storms over the next few hours. it just kind of breaks up so we get maybe a few showers out of this in some spots, especially in the lehigh valley area. maybe chester county, but the farther east it goes in our area, the more likely it is to fall apart. by tomorrow morning the story is going to be the fog. not rain, we're not seeing sunshine in the morning, but i think in the afternoon tomorrow the sub will come out and that temperature is going to

skyrocket. has not been skyrocketing today. wind continues off the ocean. barely 60 in atlantic city. only 59 in coatesville. 62 in philadelphia. that's the highest it's been today. so we get into the 60s. we stay in the 60s pretty much all night. we have the possibility of those showers or even a thunderstorm. and by morning, it's not raining anywhere and we have the fog. we'll see just how warm it's going to get and when the next round of storms is coming toward the weekend in just a few minutes. more of the weather and the gloom that will be going away. nbc 10 e we told you about that. talk about this fire. a new pleatology the fire that killed two children. it was the second weekend in a row philadelphia saw a deadly fire. now comes the push to make sure it doesn't happen again. deanna durante joining us live.

what's being done after the recent tragedy? >> reporter: right now, the fire department along with the mayor and red cross are urging people to educate themselves. talk to your kids about an escape plan. make sure working smoke detectors are in the home. you can get one for free. memorials are all that's left at 6th and montgomery. the shell of the house is too unstable to go inside for a better look. >> it's demoralizing. >> reporter: the fire commissioner says despite 100 firefighters battling this house fire, they couldn't save two children and grandmother. it's unknown if the house had working smoke detectors. it was burning so fast rescuers were doing all they could to save the children. >> the mayor and state tishls and the red cross joined in announcements urging people to not only get working smoke detectors but educate themselves about fire prevention.

>> smoke alarms will help you once the fire starts. the best fire tr us is the one that never starts. >> after making these announcements here at the philadelphia fire headquarters, the fire department headed back into that north philadelphia neighborhood going door to door seeing if residents wanted to take advantage of free smoke detectors saying they had the battery installed so they don't have to worry about checking those smoke detectors to make sure they are working. the commissioner said many fires start by electrical, older homes that have failing electrical systems. he also urges people to only use one plug in an outlet and also for smokers, be very careful of where you toss the cigarette butts. that's the cause of a a number of large fires in the city. to this now, a convenience store clerk shot during a robbery this morning. it happened early in philadelphia's neighborhood. police say two masked men walked into the store, told the clerk

to open the two registers. the clerk opened the first one but couldn't get the second and that's when a robber shot him. the clerk is expected to be o y okay. new details as breaking news last night at 111:00. police are still looking for the gunman who shot two teens killing one of them. he died just after 10:00 last night after he was shot near frankfurt avenue in kensington. a 16-year-old was also shot. he's in stable condition. now to the sna nation's capital where white house communications director resigning from his post after just three months on the job. he turned in his resignation, but agreed to stay through the first foreign trip. his official last day still hasn't been set. meanwhile today, president trump's personal lawyer michael cohen tells nbc news he's now involved in the investigation into alleged ties to russia. he says he's received requests

the east wind helps keep the clouds in, the shore, a a miserable place today. holgate at 59, stone harbor, cape may point at 60. ocean temperature, 61. not only that, but there's rain as you'll see in a minute. so here's the highs. the average 78. 64 yesterday. 62 today. look at tomorrow. we jump up 17 degrees. near normal thursday with sunshine. remember that? and 82 degrees on friday. so some huge changes ahead. there's that last rain coming across cape may county. it's fairly dry across much of the rest of the area. but with do have the one heavy shower there right over avalon. the back edge of this continues to move to the east.

and so we're going to be seeing improvements in the next couple hours. just to wildwood itself, not really seeing the rain. but over the last few hours, we have seen that move out of delaware. it just continues. a few sprinkles around trenton. we have lightning and reds and purples indicating heavy rain. severe weather out there. but all these clouds, the east wind, the chilly air, it stabilizes the atmosphere. and thunderstorms need unstable air going up and down. so as the thunderstorms move into the stable air, they fall apart. so we're not expecting severe

access to rehabilitation services. the other will launch a database to track which doctors and this centers are prescribing the most pain pills. a check of the other stories making headlines county by county. we start in mercer county. new plans will make trenton a safer place to live. the program will let the city demolish abandoned properties which draw crime and other illegal activity. it will add 150 surveillance cameras around trenton. police are investigating after a man was killed after walking this past weekend. the 42-year-old man was the the victim in the incident. the driver was short a found while later. charges have not yet been filed. check this out. construction is more than 80% done on the library. but some new developments could soon be built around it.

usually this time of year, upper 70s. we're at 62 in philadelphia. in the suburbs right now, 59 degrees. new jersey, you're at 60. we have low 60s as well. the e lehigh valley to delaware. the light rain is moving throughout our area. we have been seeing this mostly at the shore today. now looking a at parts of the lehigh valley. delaware with a few showers a passing by. take a look at our radar. the gray is the cloud cover that's been holding tight over us the whole day. off to the west, there were severe thunderstorms in pennsylvania. that's starting to weaken as it heads our way. it's going to continue to weaken as it moves our direction. some rain should at the northern edge of the viewing area you see a little shower still lingering over partings of cape may county. it's the cloudy conditions and cool air that's muting some of the strength of the storms as they head our direction. nonetheless, still gray and
