>> reporter: this is the aftermath as councilman david oh tried to distance himself from the attacker he noticed some onlook nearby. >> there was a vehicle where two guys came out and i thought they were asking me if i needed help. you need help. but then it occurred to me they weren't talking to me, they were talking to him and they were out their car windows videotaping with their smartphones, you know, maybe what they saw was a fight. and kind of like egging the fight on. >> reporter: they eventually took off. he called 911. >> couple inches up this way or that way would be a different story but as it is as you can see i recovered pretty quickly. i feel good. i'm pretty healthy. >> reporter: the councilman believes he was stabbed with a shiv not a knife. nonetheless whatever it was it ended up penetrating his diaphragm. fortunately it missed all vital organs. right now police are looking for the suspect in this case.

trying trook down some surveillance video in the neighborhood. they also would like to speak to those men who were in the car who appeared to be videotaping the fight. if you know anything call police. rosemary connors, nbc 10 news. communities leaders say the attack on councilman oh is another that random violence crime can happen to anyone anywhere. at city hall the council president announceed a plan to introduce legislation to address the issues that can cause people to commit violent crime like poverty, lack of mental health care and scarce jobs. >> the likelihood is that person may not have a job, that person may have some mental issues which a lot of this is part of this issue. that person may have a family structure or a life within that family that there was a cycle of violence, a cycle of poverty. >> he says the new bill will be introduced next week in an effort to stop violent criminals before they strike. councilman oh is the second

cashing in on your dime down the street at the local target store. police in voorhees say that's what happened when these two crooks had sticky fingers on march 3rd. >> takes seconds. suspects grab the wallets and leave. >> reporter: it happened at this amc and summer is when pickpocket prowlers pick up. >> two computers he puts on top of his counter. >> reporter: the crooks paid for and got away with two computers, $200 in toiletries and a tv in three separate transaction as the popcorn is still hot and movie still going. >> they use the card as quick as they can to get as much as they can. >> reporter: we spoke to movie goers today. >> that's disturbing. my bag have a zipper and i also put it onto floor. good to know. yeah. they will come in and wipe you out. >> reporter: since last summer six suspects struck multiple times two of them nabbed from

was used. the victim has not been able to talk. she's in critical condition. to an update we first told you about yesterday. an 18-year-old philadelphia on $5 million bail tonight for the attempted murder of his 7-year-old sister. simere alford's mother called police and said he was high. she found her 7-year-old daughter unresponsive with a plastic bag over her head. the child was rushed to the hospital where she's in extremely critical condition. turning to our weather now with a look outside, live look from our nbc 10 camera on boat house row. a beautiful evening out there. we wanted this gorgeous weather for a long. how long will we have it? nbc 10 first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz has a look at what we can expect.

>> we started off the week with awful weather and unseasonably chilly weather. weather has gotten sunny and much warmer, including at the beaches. jersey shore got in the 80s today. of course in philadelphia we got in the 80s. 82 after 62 on wednesday. in the ballpark all the way through saturday at least. 79 now. that west wind, that land breeze and that's why it's warm at the beaches too 81 atlantic city international right now. 73 in coatesville. as we go through the night it's going to be clear. winds are dying down. so it's going to be a beautiful night. tomorrow morning temperatures down in the low 50s in parts of the area still not very cool for this time of the year. we start the day off with

sunshine tomorrow and that's pretty much what we're going to be seeing during the day. we'll see this great weather lasts, if it's going to last all the way through the weekend coming up in a few minutes. the judge in the bill cosby case says he'll wait until next week before ruling on what evidence can be used at cosby's trial in montgomery county. lawyers from both sides were in court today. the defense is trying to exclude some expert testimony when cosby goes on trial next monday. cosby success tried on charges he drugged and monthed a woman in 2004. jurors in bucks county heard from ral girls cents to live with a man now on trial for sexually abusing them. the 52-year-old is accused of assaulting six daughters who were gifted to him by their parents. he fathered two children by the eldest daughter. some of the girls range in age from 20915 testified today they considered him their husband. he's charged with rape.

he denies those charges. a 30-year-old man is charged with impersonating a police officer. a woman told police she was at a pizzeria when he approached her. he called her a slur, demanded she move her car and identified himself as a police officer. the woman called 911 and the man was arrested. he's being held on $3,500 bond. governor christie is promising relief for atlantic city's casinos. he met with the heads of mgm and cesar's. he said the casino heads asked for more relief from rules and regulations that govern the shore town's gambling halls. he would not provide details on what relief would be coming. septa is making changes to the way you pay your fares. septa is not providing weekly and monthly passes. they are replaced by the new

we've had winds coming in off the ocean. seems like the majority of days during the month of may, one of the wetter mays we ever had at the shore, so need that pattern to change as we head towards the summer season. as long as that's wind coming out of the west we won't be getting that cooling. tomorrow, we got the west wind. there's saturday, we have it as well. watch what happens as we head into sunday. it shifts. starts coming in from the south. coming in off the ocean. that's why it's so much cooler at the engineer shore sunday than saturday. but it's still sort of a land breeze at the delaware beaches especially lewis. you'll be 80 degrees plus on both days over the weekend. now we got hardly any clouds around and really not much back to our west, nothing threatening us for at least a little while. next couple of days we're in

good shape. tacony at 78. easton 76 degrees tomorrow. lots of places in the upper 70s. including right at the beach with that west wind. so we'll see more and more of that. this is the first day of the atlantic hurricane season. and the list of names, of course, settled well in advance. we had arlene way out in the atlantic in april but that does count for the 2017 hurricane season. now saturday, beautiful sunny day. wind not bad. sunday is not even that bad. but from philly northward chance of showers late in the day or at night. looks like it will stay dry at the jersey shore and delaware but much cooler at the jersey shore on sunday. i'm john clark. coming up one eagles player thinks his unit on the team can be the best night.
