learned that water main was more than a century old. right now, here's a heads up. the road is only opened to passenger cars, no buses or large trucks are getting through. brandon hudson just arrived on the scene. he'll have a live report coming up in about 15 minutes. now to a show of support. legendary bill cosby entered the courthouse today with his tv daughter actress, keisha night pulliam by his side. he tweeted thank you to cliff and claire's 4-year-old daughter rudy. deanna durante was in that courtroom today. she's joining us live from norristown. you were there, what was cosby's reaction as prosecutors were laying out their case to the jury? >> reporter: well, as the prosecutor told the jury that cosby used his power and fame to sexual assault adrian constand, he used drugs so that she

couldn't say no to his sexual advances. at times he stared at the jury and at times he stared at the ceiling. he gave no facial reactions when they made those claims. bill cosby sat facing the jury for many of the opening statements. his lawyers were surrounding him and former cosby show star keisha knight pulliam sat behind him. cosby sat still holding his cane, even as prosecutors told the jury he traumatized adrian constand causing her so much difficult she had to leave her job two months after the alleges assault. prosecutors told the jury they will use cosby's own words to show that he had a pattern. cosby lied to constand telling her he was giving her herbal supplements. in a powerful opening, cosby's lawyer at times raised his voice almost yelling and said cosby's

own words will show what happened with him and constand was conessentialal saying she called cosby more than 50 times after the alleged assaults. the two exchanged gifts and she watched him perform and gotten the tickets from that show from cosby. he is an innocent man and asked the jury to keep in mind when police investigated the case in 2005, cosby was not charged. now prosecutors did tell the jury that cosby's own statements are what led to the filing now, years later. statements the jury won't know where they came from, that they came from a civil suit filed by adrian constand. the jury won't get information as to where that deposition came from. the first witness in the case, a woman who claimed bill cosby sexually assaulted her back in 1996. we'll tell you what she told the jury coming up tonight at 6:00. we're live in norristown, deanna durante, nbc10 news.

59, mt. pocono, 51. millville you'll be at 61. atlantic city coming in at 60s as well. we'll talk about those 90s coming back in just a couple minutes. a search for an escaped inmate called off. police in bucks county suspended the manhunt. the 27-year-old shoved his way out of a cop car last night. he told police he felt sick and to pull over. when they did, sellby took off running while still handcuffed. it forced residents in three towns to shelter in place and cancelled school today in the central bucks district. >> i don't think it's the situation where it's necessary to close schools, i mean, like some 25-year-old kid. he's not violent and never had any violent tendencies or anything. >> police believe sellby stopped by the home where he used to live. they do not believe he has violent but they are concerned for his well-being. students will head back to class

tomorrow. president trump will not try to block former fbi director james comey from testifying before congress later this week. mr. comey was leading an fbi investigation you'll recall into alleged russian meddling in last year's presidential election when mr. trump fired him last month. the president's can use executive privilege to stop government employees from testifying but the white house press secretary said today the president will not do so in this case. >> >> will host a fund raiser with president trump this weekend. the president will join republican tom mcarthur sunday for a political fund raiser at mr. trump's private golf club in north jersey. he is up for reelection next year. learning more this afternoon about a disgruntled former employee accused of killing five people at an office in florida. the gunman walked into a business in orlando this morning and opened fire, five people were killed before he took his

own life. authorities are saying the gunman was fired back in april and had once been accused of assaulting the coworker. a gunman is on the run for an execution style double murder in philadelphia. a neighborhood found the bodies of a man and woman inside a car. officers were called to check out the scene on sidney street yesterday. police think someone may have shot the victims from the backseat. the car may have been parked there for days. take a look. police tell us this man held up a center city massage parlor last month at gun point. he demanded money but took off without getting anything. he may be driving a silver mini van. if you have seen him authorities want to hear from you. tips to police are confidential. today marks four years since the deadly market street building collapse in center city. building being demolished fell on to a salvation army thrift story back in 2013. seven people were killed.

a dozen others were injured. last month a woman who lost her legs in the collapse was awarded more than $95 million. it was part of a larger settlement. the construction contractor and the excavator operator they're both serving prison time for manslaughter in the case. ending domestic violence that's the mission of a new south jersey city. >> they're asking your help to do it. the city of camden had more than 2,000 domestic violence related arrests in 2015. that is a 29% jump over the previous year. the camden county women's center is starting a new domestic violence response team. they're looking for volunteers to serve as counselors to the victims in an effort to try to end the cycle of violence. >> it could take up to seven times for a victim to actually leave an abusive relationship and if there's somebody out there that can give resources to the victim, it's a better chance that they won't return to their abuser. >> training sessions are

>> announcer: this is nbc10 news. >> police are shooting. this right here is dramatic new video of police confronting of the men suspected in this week's terror attack in london. police released two pictures of the men today. here they are and another man who drove a van right into people on the london bridge saturday and then stabbed several others at a nearby market. british authorities also raided two homes and detained several people today. they're suspected of having some connection to the three men accused of carrying out the attack. isis has claimed responsibility now. seven people were killed and dozens injured on saturday before police killed the three attackers. and security remains high on the

bridge today. the nearby london bridge underground station that's reopened now, those injured in saturday's attack, 21 are in critical condition. a tribute in washington today for journalists who lost their lives reporting the news. the museum rededicated his journalist memorial this morning. 14 names were added to that wall. all of them were killed in the line of duty last year. they including npr photo david gilke. he died one year ago today. his boss delivered keynote remarks. >> so of these 14 journalists we need to consider their pursuit. the public deserves, has a right to see, to hear, to know. >> the museum also blacked out its popular exhibit of front pages from around the world as a way to raise awareness to the threats that the media face.

>> to this now he was once philadelphia's native son now bill cosby's on trial to face charges from a 2004 sexual assault and live outside the courtroom in norristown this afternoon is local attorney. thanks for being here this afternoon. headline from today, the actors who played rudy huchl table she showed up to court to support bill cosby and cosby even tweeted out a picture of the two of them. how much will this star power affect the jury do you think? >> i think star powers big. any time you can have support there. we're talking about rudy here. she was 5 years old at the time the cosby show was on the air. anything that can relate to jrz to the cosby that we all grew up with, as somebody that was law-abiding and good person and father figure, i think is going to be helpful for him. any time you have anyone famous, that showing support for your case tharksz going to sit there and a jury can recognize that person, i think it's helpful for

him. >> so we got a peek at the defense strategy today, right? question the victims credibility, in opening statements they talked about how she changed her story during police interviews and also kept in contact with cosby even after the attack. how effective do you think that strategy's going to be? >> this is the only strategy. they don't have any other strategy. it's all about credibility. you have 12 jurors, if you can convince one juror to hold out on this case, you're going to use everything that she said and she did, anything that's inconsistency with someone that could be the victim of a sexual crime. so it's all about credibility, all about all the times that she contacted him, any time that she wanted tickets, anything she asked for as far as money. anything that's inconsistent, the delay in the time that she took to report the crime. this all goes to credibility. that's what's going to happen here. that's the only strategy, that is the right strategy and that's what this case is going to come

down to. >> as we look at pictures where that alleged attack took place. thanks for your incites on this trial which will stretch on for days and days. we look forward to hearing more of your incites to the days to come. appreciate it. >> you're welcome. breaking news. we are following that water main break in abington. you can see the water -- this was gushing there, especially during at 4:00. let's go live to brandon hudson who is live on the scene. what can you tell us right now? >> reporter: the water main break has stopped but now the cleanup starts for some of these homeowners including this one right behind me. you can see the water is coming down out of his front yard, we did see the homeowner walking around the house trying to survey all this damage. we're looking at tyson avenue right here. we'll take a walk right down the street. you can see police, aqua, water crews they're out here. let's take you to some video

from skyforce10 that was taken not too long ago. you see what looks like a water fall of water cascading downhill. we found out that the water main break started on edge hill road sometime after 3:30. crews cleaninged it up shortly thereafter. but we can tell you as far as the water goes and the street goes, that road is going to remain closed for the remainder of the evening. it may not open until 11:00 tomorrow morning. we spoke to the abington deputy police chief. here's what he has to say. >> to restore the water would be about 24 hours, approximately 5i68 residents are impacted as a result of the break. the cleanup we still have not assessed some of the damage. our engineering people, highway crews are out checking on the roadway on edge hill road and tyson's avenue. >> reporter: so there you heard it, 85 people without water this evening. we did see one neighbor doing a good deed. she went out to the grocery

the heaviest out here along the jersey shore. you can see the last hour a lot of this is just fizzled out as a put it into motion and makes it way through the area. not a great deal here. off to the west of us, we have this line right here. you can see showers and storms all along a line right about here, although my line is up around buffalo it shouldn't be. you can see all those showers and storms making our way in our direction. what's going to happen we could hear the boom of thunder overnight especially all of you up here in the lehigh valley and berks county, even up into the southern poconos. around 11:30 tonight, here comes a little bit of activity, stronger line of storms into the suburbs and then it sort of fizzles out as it makes its way through philadelphia. still rain will be in the forecast for tomorrow on and off before we start to see a slow dryout.

fireworks going off just before the fire began. in new castle county, sentencing day for two 17-year-old girls convicted in the death of a classmate in wilmington. a judge sentenced one of the girls to six months in a juvenile facility. that's her punishment for attacking amy joyner. the other was sentenced to 18 months probation for helping plan the fight. joy ner francis died from a rare heart condition aggravated by the attack. >> a man's back under arrest facing accusations he mocked and punched a guy with cerebral palsy. it shows him attacking a man outside a store in west chester. he's there in the yellow sweatshirt. baker was arrested. then he disappeared after he was released on bail. he was arrested this morning. police call the crime appalling. >> a fight to stop lunch shaming at pennsylvania schools is gaining some momentum tonight. when schools embarrass children

the heaviest rain and soggiest conditions are also delaware and chester county and into south jersey. what we have is a line of showers and storms off to the west. all of this is just being kicked off by the main body of this storm system that's off to the north and you can see it just curling around and it's going to kick more showers into our area by tomorrow so do not put the umbrella away. keep those rain slickers and rain boots handy as well for the kids. here we are hour by hour. let me show you what's going to go on. overnight tonight we will see those showers diminishing at times and by the time we get into the wee hours of tomorrow morning we could see a gusty storm during allentown and reading. we'll see it progressing toward philadelphia but phys willing out. that's going to continue through noon tomorrow. the good news is that on wednesday we could see an isolated shower, there's a slight chance of that. but we are also going to see the potential of sunshine.
