police talked to us just after they arrived and were talking to some of the witnesses. >> the train continued to move by the young lady who was touching the train. she grabs on to a post on the train. her legs go underneath the train where one of her legs was severed and the other is severely damaged. >> reporter: she was taken to children's hospital philadelphia where she's now in critical condition. we should mention this is a freight train we're talking about, which moves slower than a passenger train. so it can be just as devastating as a fast-moving train. a lot of heavy equipment. back to you in the studio. >> 20 minutes of nonstop news continues with a marijuana bust at a main line restaurant. students were eating their lunch when police stormed in. police say this is not the first time they have been forced to

shut down a drug operation at a restaurant. a pizza. >> i know you got ab update from investigators about the arrest. >> they arrested three people. the worker apparently was sell ing drugs out of the restaurant. they were scrambling out of this popular chain. sky force 10 overhead as police evacuated the lunchtime crowd at chipotle following a drug bust this afternoon. this group of high school se seniors got caught in the middle of it. >> it's really insane. we came here to eat chipotle. an investigation led police to this restaurant on lancaster avenue when an employee is trying to sell a half pound of marijuana to an undercover

officer. >> it caught me off guard. >> police arrested another two people as a cay sign hit on a bathroom toilet tank. >> rader in has a zero tolerance poli policy. we will thot tolerate this conduct. >> health inspectors checked out chipotle and remains closed until want inspectors can determine whether it's okay to reopen. now to developments within the past hour in the bill cosby trial. >> his accuser wrapped up testimony after two days on the witness stand. andrea constand was grilled tr most of the day. they accused her of mixing updates and times. and assaulted her inside his

home. deanna durante is keeping track of every minute of this trial as it continues. she gave us this update just on a short break from court. >> reporter: for a second day, andrea constand is back on the witness stand. yesterday she told the jury about a sexual assault she says happened inside bill cosby's home. today defense lawyers spent time trying to chip away at her time line, her account of what happened and when. andrea constand's tone never changed. she remained calm and respectful as defense lawyers poured over her phone records, accused her of double checking with police on people on dates. constand had stated to police in 2005 she thought the assault happened in cosby's home on march 16th, 2004. according to defense attorneys who looked at police reports and showed them to constand. defense lawyers spent hours looking at cell phone records showing constand had made many

phone calls until late in the night on march 16th. defense saying it was not possible for constand to be passed out and assaulted if she was on the phone. she told the jury she was mistaken about the date. pills.ense took aim at she had he swaully assaulted her. jury it n january recorded a phone conversation between herself and bill cosby. it's expected to be played for the jury some time today. deanna durante, nbc 10 news. more celebrities showed up with cosby at the courthouse this morning. cosby walked into court with a former co-star on his arm.

and on cosby's other arm is frazier's husband. his arrival every morning comes with a lot of anticipation about who will show up with him. on monday cosby's former television daughter accompanied him into court. she's the actress who played rudy. cosby's tv wife and his real wife are both expected to show up during the trial at some point. count on nbc 10 for the latest developments from the courtroom. all new at 5:00, our legal analysts will join us lye to talk about day two of andrea constand's testimony and what it means tr cosby's defense. we know the calendar says june and it doesn't feel like it just yet. i have a feeling it will soon. we found some fishermen along the shore. let's take a live look over the

philadelphia museum of art. the sun has been trying to peek through the clouds all day to y today. we have already started seeing a a taste of the warmer weather that's to come. >> meteorologist glenn schwartz is tracking the big change in temperatures coming your way in your most accurate weather forecast. >> the first thing we got to do is get rid of the clouds. as long as they hang around and we have an east wind, it's going to be hard to get the temperature up. there's no rain around. the roads are just fine. nice and dry. we do have some of the fair weather clouds moving down from the northeast. this is satellite and radar. there's nothing on the radar. it doesn't matter how threatening it might look. it's not going to rain. 66 degrees in philadelphia. 68 in allentown. 62 in atlantic city. it's in the 60s just about everywhere with the east wind. and that's not normal for had this time of the year. i'll show you what is. the average is 80 degrees and we may not get there tomorrow. we have some more clouds around,

but friday and then saturday and then it keeps going up from there. we're going to be clearing out. temperatures are going to cool" down. 49 degrees in some of the suburbs. so ewe need some sort of a jacket. but as we go into the afternoon, the temperature is going to be going up and we could talk about a heat wave with the rest of the forecast in a few minutes. this just in right now, we have learned what former fbi james comey will say during the much anticipated senate hearing. >> in his prepared remarks, he told the president. he was not personally under investigation and lays out a time line for several interactions with president trump in the months following his election. after a one-on-one dinner at the white house, comey said my instincts said he wanted to create a patronage relationship and that concerned me given the

fbi's independent status in the executive branch. the president said i need loyalty. i expect loyalty. comey said hi didn't move, speak or change his facial expression in it any way during the awkward silence that followed. he said we simply looked at each other in silence later telling the president he would always be honest. comey said the president asked him to back off the investigation of his former national security adviser michael flynn, but comey didn't feel trump was asking him to drop the entire russian probe. >> comey's appearance comes after plans to nominate christopher ray to be the next director. he was governor christie's personal attorney during the bridgegate scandal. the president tweeted his decision. he wanted someone who could lead and restore integrity to the fbi. ray worked tr the justice department under president bush.

he rose to the ranks of heading up the criminal division. there's a lot going on to in the nation's capital. we sent lauren mayk to washington, d.c. >> she's joining us from there. you spoke to people about the new choice for fbi director. what are they saying? >> reporter: this took a lot of people by surprise today as so many were focused on that anticipated testimony from the former fbi director, but i tound a local congressman who may be at one of the best positions lawmakers to tell us about him. the nominee is familiar to the congressman. >> i worked with him directly this the justice department. we were together on a corporate fraud task force. >> he and the former attorney who knew christopher ray when ray headed up the criminal division. now he's president trump's pick to replace comey. >> all of these guys, that was when i was in the justice department. >> he would replace the man the

president fired. >> how would he handle coming into this turmoil? >> that's right. he will be coming into tour moil. it's an even keeled guy and has a lot of experience. >> his experience also includes representing new jersey governor chris christie in the bridgegate scandal. >> there's a brand new announcement. anybody associated with the governor with the case is very suspicious to me. >> it's something the congresswoman of new jersey has questions about. >> i understand the governor would want the best lawyer he could find. if that's why he had him, that makes him a good candidate for this. if there's other reason, we'll have to wait and see. >> he calls him a good choice and he's already seen him deal with tough times. >> his tenure during that time was marked by a competence ask an ability to continue to forge forward during a period of crisis. >> he thinks that experience

could be valuable. now christopher ray would have to be confirmed by the entire senate, which he actually has been before for his previous justice department job. back to you. >> you have been talking to local delegation about the. what are they telling you today? >> reporter: this is how quickly things are happening. just a few hours ago, i was speaking with the member of congress who was telling me the questions they would want to ask jim comey tomorrow and then the opening statement from comey came out answering some of those questions. things are happening very quickly. but another lawmaker points out that that statement is just part of what we'll hear tomorrow because senators will get to ask hill about it. >> plenty of questions during what's expected to be about a two-hour hearing, as i understand it. lauren mayk live on capitol hill, thanks. we'll see you later in this afternoon's coverage. we're going to show you where

jim comey will testify now. room 216 in the senate office building on capitol hill tomorrow. here it is. nbc news got a sneak peek of sorts last night. it's similar to a theater and used to hold high profile hearings. it has balcony seating and can hold 70 cameras for television coverage. senators grilled intelligence officials. two of the top intelligence officials would not directly answer whether president trump asked them to publicly state they had seen no collusion with russia. and the former director of national intelligence said allegations about russia are worse than the watergate scandal. james clapper appeared at the press club and accused russia of interfering in last year's election. >> the russians are not our friends. they and putin specifically, despite his disingenuous denials, are opposed to our democracy and values.

>> clapper went on to say russia trying to interfere in our elections date iing baa k to th '60s, but nothing rivals last year's actions. our coverage in washington continues tomorrow. i'll be headed down to join lauren mayk and the coverage. look for live reports the rest of this evening and then more from the thags's capital tomorrow at 4:00. the delaware memorial bridge reopened just been the past 90 minutes after a fire snarled traffic for several hours. they want inspected the area under the bridge. construction material caught fire as crews were welding. traffic was shut down between new jersey and delaware. cars were detoured all the way back to exit 4 of the turnpike. no one was injured in the fire, but it created major traffic headaches for drivers. we have new details on a story we have been following since monday night. police now have a fourth young suspect in custody in connection with this attack on a mentally

challenged man in germantown. a police officer recognized one of the suspects in the video. the victim was punch ed in the face at least twice for no apparent reason. we learn ed new details in the murder-suicide at the new jersey transit bus garage. the prosecutor says the bus driver's ex-girlfriend shot and killed him when he shot showed up to work. he drove several mile bfrs she then killed herself. jackson and ryan reynolds recently broke up. new video today shows the exact moment a man with a hammer attacked a police officer outside paris's notre dame cathedral. the man yelled "this is for syria" as he lunged at the officer. he got him off his back and shot him. the suspect went to the hospital. his condition is unknown. today the tourists in paris

paid tribute. the latest of several attacks in europe. 600 people were blocked inside the church yesterday as officers investigated what happened. today police in london discovered another victim of saturday's terror attack there. the body of a 36-year-old french national found in the river. two areas hit by the atrackers reopened today. the london bridge, a van slammed in. the span has new security barriers in place. residents got a chance to weigh in on the conditions inside the prison. today the executive director talked about complaints she's heard from current inmates. the main prison problem is there are too many people behind bars. this comes four months after the deadly hostage situation. the governor admits the state must solve the staffing and compensation tr officers.

we have new details today in a murder-suicide in lancaster county. police say a mother killed her two children and then shot herself. the children were 10 and 4 years old. detectives say the mom set the house on fire and then killed herself. first responders found their bodies in a bedroom. tonight there's a a vigil for the children. tem l pl university prepared for the worst today to make sure they are ready in case disaster strikes. the department of safety and emergency medical services ran practice drilled today to prepare for an active shooter scenario on campus. actors pretended to be victims who were triaged outside one of the dorms. drills like this help to identify strengths and areas that need improvement before a disaster happens. leaders in the lehigh valley say they will continue to uphold the paris climate agreement despite president trump's announ announcement he's withdrawing from it. the mayors have all signed the

and over at the beaches, how we doing? it's pretty chilly. 59 at duey beach. you've got to change the wind dreirection if you want it to g warmer at the beaches. a big warm-up starts tomorrow and we're likely to get a heat wave on sunday. that's three straight days of 90 plus. e we could be dry for weeks. at least in the dpood part of the area. so it is a dry pattern along with a hotter one. sunny days, they are coming. we're going to get quite a bit of them. it looks like the weekend is going to be sunny too. this is a strange map today. the 24-hour temperature change is much warmer in trenton than it was yesterday. and it's going to be cooler from coates vilville to dover. you b don't see that kind of variation very often. you don't seep this very often where it gets warmer every single day as we go into early

next week. that trend probably won't continue after monday. but that is pretty hot. there's the clouds coming down from the northeast. radar and satellite, where's the rain? way west of washington. so there's no rain with those showers. we have clearing skies tonight. that's going to allow the temperature to go down quite a bit. it's in the 50s across most of the area here. by morning, we have a couple spots in the 40s. there's a quakertown at 49 degrees. then it starts warming. up a little bit. we have clouds at the shore with the coastal storm staying offshore. but that will keep the coastal sections much cooler tomorrow. and there will be somewhat cooler over the weekend too. but it's not a nice cool. this is a beautiful weekend at the shore. temperatures in the 70s at the shore. while it gets up to 92 on sunday

an 11-year-old says it was second nature that caused him to save his drowning classmate tr the bottom of a pool. >> he's now being hailed a hero. he says he saw lifeguards staring into the pool at a water park in california. he swam to the area and found his classmate lifeless in six feet of water. he pulled the boy out. the child is doing okay. >> he was holding his breath kind of messing around. >> he's on the swim team. he was influenced by his father, who was a former lifeguard. tonight is the night you could become rich. the jackpot is $375 million. nbc 10 found people buying up those tickets at the store in winfield heights. if you win and you decide to

take a look at this. nbc 10 has obtained this vid e owe of a fight inside a wawa. it started as a robbery until a customer jumped in to help. rosemary connors is live at the wawa in camden county. >> you spoke with the customer about how e he fought off the suspect. >> his name is daryl. he didn't want to show his face on camera. he did describe being here at the wawa in the early morning hours to grab a cup of coffee when he saw the gunman barge in through the front doors. the man wondered if it he was going to shoot everyone inside the door. >> the way he came in with the gun blazing and pointing right at him, get down. >> informs that moment he decided to tackle the suspect. the surveillance video shows them struggling around the front of the register. >> he had a gun. were you scared for your life

worried? >> that didn't even come into my mind. >> these cameras capturing their every move. >> he wanted me to let him go. he said he was sorry. he came here and can i let him go. that wasn't happening. >> reporter: daryl says anyone could have been inside that store when it happened. perhaps one of his three children. he has a son who is a south jersey police officer. >> knowing he puts his life on the line as well as the other offer offic officers, we kind of have to help the police. >> i wouldn't advise anyone taking on someone with a gun. notify the authorities.

there's no rain on the radar anywhere around. let's see if anybody reached 70. philadelphia itself, 66 at the airport. the warmest we got is 68. 6 in port richmond. 66 in graduate hospital. and parkwood, we're shy of 70 degrees today. it's not going to last. the cool air it's just going to disappear as we go into the next couple days. once the west winds come in, that will allow the hot weather to in from the west. and once it's here on sunday, it's going to hang around at least another couple days. the way to end the heat wave some time is from what they call back-door front as the cooler air comes down from new england. that's what may be the best chance of us breaking this heat wave next week. this is the radar and satellite. and again, your don't see any of

the green blips on here. so there is no rain despite all the clouds. we start off on the chilly side. we go into the 70s. it will depend on how much cloud cover we get. there's a storm developing offshore. it doesn't look like it's going to give us any rain. it may bring enough clouds to keep temperatures down. especially in new jersey and southern delaware. otherwise, temperatures go into the 70s. dry weather across the area. jersey shore stays chilly. the winds still coming in off the ocean as long as that coastal storm is out there. . now that's going to change as we go through the weekend. we'll have more of a typical pattern. we'll have a southwest wind in the morning that will lead to a sea breeze in the afternoon. so it's considerably cooler than in the inland areas, but it's not cold. so this is a delightful pattern. saturday is warm.

sunday is down right hot. and looking over the next five days, the difference between the shore and the city, the big difference tomorrow is because of the coastal storm keeping the clouds at the shore. then we're talking about the sea breezes in general. so sunday, 92 to 78. monday, 95. philadelphia, 83 degrees at the shore. so even 83 at the shore. that's pretty warm. but lock at all the sunny symbols. that makes up for a lot. >> it really does. we missed the sun. so often on the graphics we have seen rain drops and clouds. not a a lot of the yellow. >> we have agabeen e getting in these patterns where you get four or five lousy days in a row. >> are you going to be grilling this weekend? >> probably, but i will also be working on sunday. >> you can still grill.
