the morning lit erg ttering thet with dozens of shell casings. word on charges in this case? >> reporter: jim, i can tell you i just hung up with police a few minutes ago, and no one has been charged, but detectives do tel both the girlfriend and that repo driver, tow truck driver, are cooperating fully with this investigation. the ones initially arguing at it with one another at this parking lot here this morning. preliminary investigation tells them the repo driver was scared for his life and acted in self-defense. just before 10:30 this morning at the corner of 18th and dickinson. >> i heard, boom, boom, boom, boom. >> like firecrackers. boom, boom, boom. >> reporter: mike young ducked for cover two blocks off from where he and others heard a woman screaming at someone else. >> the girl was screaming, screaming at the guy. >> reporter: moments before multiple gunshots. >> i couldn't actually make out what she was saying but heard from other bystanders, i'm going to call my husband to whoop your

[ bleep ]. >> reporter: the area was smoky after 24 shell casings came to rest on the street. a man left dead after police say he pistol whipped the repossession man. >> saw smoke, people screaming, running away from the scene. yeah. pretty scary. >> reporter: police say the repo driver heard the sound of glass shatter and feared he would die. so he grabbed his gun. fired killing the woman's boyfriend. >> people are, you know, walking with their kids, walking their dogs. you know? i hadn't heard gunshots before. thought it was fireworks. i couldn't imagine. who's doing fireworks in the morning? >> reporter: a dog not related to either man was killed. they nerve her a problem yi the neighborhood. >> sadhappened. things didn't have to turn out that way. unfortunate it did. >> it's sad. very sad. it's a sad world out here. a different world. people are crazy. >> reporter: now, i just a few minutes ago talked to the other than of the parked car shot out on the opposite side of the

street. he tells me that at least three bullets hit it, and it will be thousands of dollars in damages. it also hit the driver's side window, but he says he is thankful, and today was a good day to be working from home. live in point breeze, cydney long, nbc 10 news. new details about a deadly police-involved shooting yesterday. today philadelphia's police commissioner said a witness tried to tell the man not to pull his gun as he scuffled with the officer. our cameras captured reaction of loved ones at the scene. officers saw the man riding recklessly on a red dirt bike and felt a gun in the man's waistband during a search. that's when both the officer and witness told the man, don't do it, don't grab the gun. >> he holds on to that in that same area and tells him, don't pull it. don't pull it. and -- the witness actually says the same thing.

that doesn't say that you don't have the support. what it says is that you want to protect your family from being attacked by this media circus out here. >> reporter: the details inside the courtroom are graphic. and shed light on a man who came to be known as america's dad. cosby's only words used against him, using police and legal statements to bolster claims bill cosby drugged andrea constand and sexually assaulteder in 2004. saying he made put a moll pasmu and she ignored them. had a flame, details to graphic for television how they had consensual sexual activity in his home. prosecutors say the sex acts were not consensual. constand some didn't happen and others occurred because cosby drugged her with three blue pills, waited for her to pass out, fondled her and molested

her in other ways. cosby got drugs from a doctor, and he admitted to wanting to give the drugs to people he "wanted to have sex with." in that deposition, cosby told constand's lawyers he never gave quaaludes to women without their knowledge. now, it's the defense's turn here. prosecutors rested late this afternoon. you saw in the video cosby went home. what will the defense team do? call witnesses? how will they continue to push his theory that constand is lying and trying to extort cosby? we have to wait and see. even pross kurtecutors say they not priv privy to the defense list. and president trump is willing to testify under oath about jim comey's testimony

yesterday. just a couple hours ago he was standing in the rose garden speaking at a joint news conference with romania's president. president trump called comey a leaker, and maintains comey lied under oath. >> so he lied about that. well, i didn't say that. i mean, i will tell you i didn't say that. >> reporter: and did he ask you to -- >> nothing wrong if i did say it, according to everybody that i've read today, but i did not say that. >> reporter: and did he ask for a pledge of loyalty from you? one of the things he said? >> no, he did not. >> and nbc news learned today the president's personal attorney said he's seeking a leak complaint about comey with the department of justice. you can hear more about that coming up on "nightly news" with lester holt. back here in south philadelphia, looking for a vandal who disarmed a home security camera on fitzwater street there. the video shows a person walking around the property. he or she snipping the wires to the home security system causing

aren't yet up to full staff and luckily lifeguards were just feet away today when a couple from lancaster county found themselves in danger. pulled to safety by ocean city lifeguards. ally kemler and logan hutton rescued friday after getting caught in a dangerous rip current. >> the waves kept coming, pulling us out further and couldn't catch our breath. >> just couldn't keep our head up. trying to come in. felt myself going down and losing too much breath and started to get scared. >> reporter: an elevated risk of rip currents expected to continue through the weekend. coupled with hot weather, sure to attract crowds and beach patrols not yet at full staff. a combination fueling concerns for lifeguards. >> we're going everything trying to get in extra guards but it's absolutely something on our minds. >> reporter: ocean city will have 24 guarded beaches this weekend with more added in the coming week. at the height of the summer, atlantic city has lifeguards at

we got sunshine all over the place. yesterday -- day before -- i mean, we've had a bunch of days with clouds, and this was quite a nice, comfortable change. atlantic city, at the airport, 20 degrees warmer than it was at this time yesterday. east wind, versus west wind. philadelphia, 14 degrees warmer. wilmington and dover, 13. vineland, 15. trenton 16 degrees warmer. than yesterday. what about the shore? well, with that west wind, stayed there all day, 80, 80 ventnor, 80 ocean city, summer's point. not quite that -- warm at the shore tomorrow, but it will be hot at the delaware beaches. because that's a land breeze. southwest wind, a land breeze there, but it's right along the

coastline, and new jersey, that allows the sea breeze to come in. that's the case both saturdayened sunday. so rehoboth beach, dover beach, 90 on saturday. 95 sunday. well, wildwood, 75 to then 82. a lot more comfortable. humidity won't be that bad. 77 saturday. 84 on sunday in atlantic city. that is some pretty ideal weather. now, as we go through the rest of the area, we have 92 degrees, philadelphia for sunday. there may be a chance for a shower or storm into the lehigh valley. especially in the morning tomorrow, but that's about the only real threat we see. we have mostly clear skies here. we got a couple sprinkles in ohio. that's the system that we're going to be watching for tomorrow. and as you can see, a fair amount of sunshine. we got some clouds in the morning, and then -- warmer
