bigger than baseball. we're live in washington where democrats and republicans are playing together after a gunman's attack on a congressman. ♪ nbc 10 breaking news. breaking news right now at 11:00, the bill cosby drama heightens as the dead locked jury gets sent home for the night once again. this is bill cosby leaving about 90 minutes ago after jurors were sent back for a fourth straight night. good evening everyone. live outside the court house here in montgomery county again where the suspense continues to build tonight. this as calls are growing louder for a mistrial from cosby supporters. hear what we know at this hour, the jury was sent home around 9:00, they've deliberated for 40 hours over the course of four days. they were dead locked just after

11:00. and before dismissing the jury, the judge told them they're costed and they're doing difficult work. developing off the court house tonight. it's tracking all the developments from inside the court room tonight. they want the mistrial, don't they? >> reporter: that's right. team cosby came down the steps telling us these jurors have been through an emotional and intense couple of days here. four days to be exact. and they're not sure a fifth day will do any good but they don't make this decision. the judge has told them to go back the hotel and return at 9:00 in the morning. this is not over yet. bill cosby smiling to supporters as he left court after 9:00 tonight. his spokesman says the fact jurors announced this morning

they are dead locked is a positive thing for team cosby. meanwhile, accuser, andrea constan inered the courtroom defiant. >> it probably will be deadlocked tomorrow. >> reporter: the judge has not set a deadline for how long they should last. >> everybody wants to see a resolution. >> reporter: cosby's spokesman around 8:00 with a plea for the judge to declare a mistrial. >> we definitely want this thing to end and hopefully the judge will make a decision, give us an update. >> i don't think hawaii spee sp the jury. last time i checked, they get a chance to speak for themselves. >> reporter: that jury could return and if they decide they're hopelessly deadlocked, the judge could grant the defense's motioning for a mistrial. if that's the case, it will be

breaking news back at the jersey shore. my co anchor, jacky. two teenagers are missing in the ocean. just moments ago we learned rescuers suspended their search for the night and will be back at day light. they were last seen swimming at the beach off martin luther king boulevard. >> reporter: that's right. family members had been praying in the sand. there's still a spot light there, not only on the coast but out in the water. rescue crews had been searching for almost five hours until that search was suspepded. family fainting. their world upside down. two teens missing since 6:30, crews in the water minutes later. a coast guard helicopter cutting through the sky. a quad on the sand. dozens of police and lifeguards on the shore while onlookers

congressman steve scalise. president trump had a message for the law makers who took the field. >> by playing tonight you are showing the world that we will not be intimidated by threats, acts of violence or assaults on our democracy. >> nbc 10's laura make was inside national's park in washington d.c. for tonight's game. lauren, many fans you spoke to decided to attend the game to show support after yesterday's shooting. >> reporter: the crowd included members of congress, people who work on capitol hill and who just live in the area, including in alexandria, virginia where this shooting happened. security was tight at the ball park for a game that had special meaning. >> let's play ball. >> reporter: from the president to the players, a different kind of baseball game. republicans and democrats in uniforms of their own choosing,

taking the field and at one point taking the knee. gathering a day after a gunman attacked a republican member of the team. >> i think everybody wants to play, so we're going to play. we're going to pray for them. >> reporter: the game taking on new meaning and not just to washington law makers. >> we were real excited about showing support and so last night got on my phone real quick and said $15 tickets, why not. let's go. >> reporter: so you weren't planning on coming. >> not before. no. >> one of our friends is at the field yesterday and so we're here to support him and his colleagues, regardless of their political affiliation. >> reporter: we were there as two philly members of congress got ready to head into the game together. what do you want to get out of tonight? >> well, i hope that it's just not tonight that we work together and we understand -- not talking about brian and i, but collectively.

>> reporter: they sat side by side. inside the stadiums here, not just for players and teams but for other heroes. like capitol police officer, david bailey injured in this week's shooting and here to throw out the it first pitch, the signal it's time play ball. after the game tonight i spoke with congressman ryan costello who played on the republican team which lost tonight but one of the things that made him feel better today was what we just showed you. the police officer throwing out that first pitch. he also told me that the colleagues were talking about the shooting in the dugout tonight. still on their minds. live in washington d.c., nbc 10 news. and a congressman set to play in tonight's game is improving from his gun shot wounds. despite that congressman steve scalise remains in critical condition after undergoing a

second surgery today. a woman slams an 82-year-old lady to the ground for her purse. she starts following the victim, then at the top right of your screen, you see she pushes the older woman down on the ground, grabs her purse and runs away. the victim is okay. police are still looking for her attacker. a man is wanted by police for sending a former lover's home on fire with children inside. three adults and four kids were rescued from that fire. a gathering on the steps of the philadelphia museum of arts in the name of putting an end to gun violence. hundreds of friends and families filled the steps to take a stand against violence. mayor jim kenning also took part in tonight's rally. spoke to a mom whose son was shot to death. >> he was murdered in my room in cold blood and i'm praying that

welcome back. i'm back here live at the court house in norris town with the country waiting for the decision in the cosby trial. the jury went home around 9:00 tonight. they will be back there keep deliberating. they've already deliberated for 40 hours over the course of the last four days. but the drama isn't just growing inside the court house. out sad side show spectacle keeps getting bigger. take a look. ♪ these drummers showed up today, adding to the crowd of people on verdict watch here. nbc 10's brandon hudson's been out with the spectators. some supporting bill cosby, others wanting to see him convicted. brandon. >> reporter: well, jim, it's a lot quieter outside the court

house, a contrast to how it was little more than an hour ago. the best chance to see him was the line up outside the court house. but tonight we talked to a family who went inside and spoke to the comedian for a few minutes. a loud cheer for bill cosby after he went home for another day of jury indecision. >> this case should have been closed a long time ago. what else do they want from him? i say free my uncle billy. >> reporter: hours earlier the jury announced they were deadlocked. that led to confrontation outside the court house. a couple of cosby's accusers said the announcement made them feel sick. >> i felt my heart in my throat and then a feeling of numbness over came me. >> what is the value of a woman in today's society if it this is rape culture and it cannot be dismessed? >> reporter: cooler heads

but wednesday, shortly after midnight at 12:24 we're going to welcome summer officially. we're looking at a the doppler radar. we have a line of storms that have weakened. but they were severe in the western part of the state. actually there are several waves. in fact, take a look at this. this is interesting to me. we have a wave out of the midwest, we have another one that is actually crossing the ohio valley and two making their way across parts of pennsylvania. we're going to see these waves coming at us over the next four days. an area of low pressure. spotty showers overnight. tomorrow morning you may wake up and see a little bit of a sprinkle. we'll get a break in the middle of the day and look at the evening. we could see isolated showers and thunderstorms, maybe 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 in the evening. if you're in philadelphia, dad, you're going to look at 90

a scary sight to start the u.s. golf open. a blimp crashed into an open field. the pilot parachuted out before it hit the ground and burst into flames. the pilot sustained serious injuries and burns. check out this near misbetween the florida police officer and alleged drunk driver. the deputy was helping the driver whose car was stuck in the middle of a highway when a speeding car nearly clipped her. the impact ripped the door off. the driver was arrested. to south jersey where a 2-year-old boy and his dog are safe after they were accidentally locked inside a swelterring car. she realized her keys were still inside. they broke a window to free the boy and dog. both are thankfully doing okay. the phillies finally break
