right now at 6:00, we're following breaking news down the shore. this drone video shows at least two homes on fire in wildwood crest. you can see the flames and heavy smoke pouring from buildings. this is happening on the 7100 block of park boulevard. an nbc 10 viewer told us he heard something that sounded like an explosion and right now there are no reports of any injuries. we do have a crew on the way to the scene and we'll bring you any updates on this breaking story as soon as we get them. a family is mourning the lohse loss of a young child after a house fire in chester county. the boy's father was also hurt trying to rescue his son, but he couldn't get back in the home in

chester township soon enough to save him. drew smith is live on the seen on buckner road. drew? >> reporter: there is a deep sense of sadness in this neighborhood. you can see this home is scorched and boarded up now. we're told the boy was asleep in the second story and we believe he died from smoke inhalation. firefighters worked most of the morning to put out the fire in this house. neighbors woken up shortly before 6:00 a.m. were shocked to find out a little boy was trapped inside. the father walked up to the scene. >> he spoke to one of the firefighters and asked if anything was okay, and with tears in his eyes, he said no. >> reporter: we're told the boy's father arrived home to see the flames and ended up getting cut up as he tried to reach the second story. you can see how high the fire reached where they had to board up parts of the roof. >> a lot of damage, a lot of

damage. >> reporter: william herr said the boy's stepmother didn't say a word when she came over for a hug, but her body language said enough. >> she was very upset, i know that. very upset. >> reporter: fire marshals are investigating. they think the fire started in the kitchen but they're not sure how. the boys' friends behind the fire tape said this is really hard to process. >> i have a 7-year-old myself, and i just can't imagine losing my child. >> reporter: that woman you just heard from came back to drop off some teddy bears as well as a note for the parents. they said they will be rallying around this family who will never be same after today. we now know the names of the man and woman who fired shots at police and were later found dead in an attic in lehigh county. authorities say 25-year-old emily fatsinger and 33-year-old

eric mesich barricaded themselves in a home in upper saucony township in a home yesterday. police tried to give them warrants, but rather than stop, they turned into a development. it appears they died in an apparent murder-suicide but autopsies are set for tomorrow. new at 6:00, a murder mystery happening in camden county. a woman was found shot to death inside her winslow township home early this morning. police responded to reports of gunfire. 44-year-old deanne scordo was shot several times. people were hurt and one dead after this crash. shortly before 5:00 this morning, police found two cars blocking both sides of the east side of i-66 just east of broad street. one man, a pedestrian, died at the hospital. it's not clear what caused the crash. parisioners from a

philadelphia church spent their sunday clearing away hundreds of tires dumped on their property. the pastor of the philadelphia boulevard 7th day adventist church tells us more than 700 tires had been dumped on their property in the past month. it always happened late at night. the church said the streets department said they would pick up the tires but they couldn't come on the property, so the tires had to be moved to the side of the road. >> somebody could come and set these tires on fire and we would really have a big problem then, okay? so it was a hazard we needed to get moved and moved immediately. >> the pastor tells us they'll be installing security cameras to keep an eye on the property. ♪ philadelphia's all-american barbecue wrapped up late today. the five-day event at dilworth park featured traditional barbecue from over the country,

live music and games for all ages. there were mouth-watering items like smoked wings with jalapeno corn and black beans. organizers cut the swimming portion of the triathlon. they canceled the 1.5k swimming portion because of unsafe water conditions in the schuylkill river. so for amateurs and professional athletes, it was a dry tri. competitors ran two miles and hit the bikes and finished things up with a four-mile run. that storm from yesterday morning still impacting some, but today it was another nice one. first alert meteorologist erika martin is with us. >> 84 in philadelphia, mt. holly 83 degrees for you. coatsville 79 degrees. allentown 80 and atlantic city

currently at 83 degrees, so a really nice afternoon in the forecast. a live look outside, notice we are seeing some clouds out there, some mid and upper level clouds. a little juicey out there, and that's because we do have the chance of some sprinkles moving through parts of our area, especially likely north and west of philadelphia. here's our region here. satellite and radar image picking up on some light returns here. i don't expect this to be a washout. possibly a sprinkle. i'll time this out hour by hour in a few minutes. back to you. take a look at this. that black smoke you see is from a car that caught fire down the shore in avalon. it happened at a house on 19th street. smoke could be seen on the beach there. no one was hurt. there is more work to be done. that was the message today from a women rights forum in fishtown. the non-profit behind the women's march on philadelphia hosted the event. dozens of women and some men showed up to learn how they could continue to make an impact

on the issue. >> and the pennsylvania house, i believe, we are number 41 in the country as far as our percentage of women that represent us. that's not going to work. we got some work to do, ladies. >> tables were set up so guests could write postcards to their elected officials. a police official is set to take the stand tomorrow morning at the federal corruption trial of philadelphia's district attorney. deputy commissioner joe sullivan will be a witness for the prosecution. the first week of seth williams' trial ended friday with the d.a. praising his lawyer's efforts. williams is accused of taking bribes and gifts from a businessman who is a key witness to the prosecution. williams has pleaded not guilty. stranded in philadelphia. why a plane headed to germany last night had to turn back around and then return. go ahead! i got you!

. bone-chilling video of a teenage girl dangling from an amusement park ride in upstate new york. the girl from sussex county, delaware falls 25 feet, hitting a tree branch but safely landing in the arms of strangers below. the ride is closed for inspection. a landslide buried an entire village in china. crews recovered 10 bodies and are still searching for 93 others. three people, a couple and their baby, were the only ones rescued. authorities say the landslide was likely triggered by rain yesterday. in pakistan, an overturned oil tanker burst into flames, killing at least 140 people today. everything that was nearby is

the air. an air asia flight from australia to asia had to turn back early after an engine problem caused the plane to start shaking. the plane experienced mechanical problems about 90 minutes into that flight. the pilot told passengers to pray the airb. the airbus 330 landed safely about three hours after departure. a flight to germany had to turn around. the flight to frankfurt returned on captain's orders and an emergency was declared. we spoke to one passenger who was on board. >> we had to turn around and fly back to philadelphia taking another three hours. basically six hours to go nowhere. >> reporter: many of the passengers will be taking flights to frankfurt today.

marijuana becomes legal in new jersey, and if it does, it will have to be under new jersey's governor. voters are trying to get chris christie behind the idea. a pennsylvania man who went missing last week hiking in louisiana has been found. eric helmas was found in fairly good condition on friday. helmas is training to be a guide. well, more than 3500 athletes competed for nearly $20,000 in prize money. in the 26th annual pottstown rumble. it is the world's largest grass volleyball tournament. men and women's teams across the u.s. and candy and several olympians played on 170 grass courts in memorial park. well, it was just another great beach day. here's a live look at ocean city where people are getting the last hours of sunlight this sunday. first alert meteorologist erika

martinez here now. erika, a lot of people are enjoying this weekend but they're looking forward to next. >> next weekend, the holiday weekend, but let's focus on right now. a really nice end to the day. i was hanging out in penn's landing, i loved it, lots of sunshine. but now we are seeing a few clouds develop and satellite rare image picking up on those clouds. we could see a couple showers moving across parts of our area soon enough. not going to be a washout, but i want to show you satellite and radar picking up on some rains here. notice moving into parts of chester county, burks county right now and a couple into philadelphia. for the most part, it's definitely going to be a mostly dry night. let's take a look at a wider perspective here. this is what we have heading in our direction. a cold front moving on through. we're not expecting too much in walt the way of rain, however, it looks like late monday could bring us a shower.

fox chase 84, chestnut hill 81 degrees and society hill currently at 85, though a really mild evening in the forecast. upper township for the jersey shore 79, atlantic city 75 and mays landing currently at 83 degrees. a great day, of course, to head out to the beach. i hope all you guys were really safe out there swimming. jersey seeing lots of 80s as well. turnerville, 83 degrees. coilfield, 81 degrees. we love these neighborhood temperatures letting you know what the temperature is in your neighborhood. flores 84 and robinsville currently 84 degrees. hour by hour forecast starting at 6:00 p.m. notice we're just seeing a couple spots at best. just a little moisture left in the atmosphere, so moving through our area very quickly. at 7:00 p.m. you can see a few spots moving across just east philadelphia, but for the most

part, everything does remain dry. but we are seeing our clouds just developing. tomorrow morning to start the day on monday, we're seeing plenty of sunshine. however, look at this. later monday it looks like we start to see a couple showers also move into the area and everything clearing by about 11:00 p.m. on monday. certainly not going to be a washout, but if you're headed out late monday, be sure you keep the umbrella handy. we have that pm chance for showers tomorrow. a couple passing showers at best. 78 on tuesday. 81 on wednesday. a few extra clouds develop on thursday, 89. then look at this, 91 on friday and 90 on saturday with the threat of thunderstorms, and then 86 degrees on sunday and it looks like a high of 88 for july 4th and possibly an a.m. sprinkle. here's danny with sports. i'm danny palmetto. the sixers pick talks about his connection with ben simmons.
