i am dealing with. >> reporter: miles among those worried they would lose medicaid coverage. the result of steep cuts of public insurance for lower income americans along with a major restructuring. >> if you don't have good health we can't work anyway. >> we are interested and concerned. >> reporter: chief financial officer of shore medical center. he says the recent wave of atlantic city casino closings has left many people relying on medicaid and charity care and believes the proposed cuts could be especially painful here. >> a lot of these individuals are under employed and some of them do not have really good health care. by doing this it means more deductive, more out of their pocket. some of them just drop in insurance cht. >> reporter: lisa miles waits for word on her diagnosis while hoping she will be able to hold on to her health care coverage. >> a lot of times we don't know the method in the madness.

>> reporter: gre the latest developments in the seth williams corruption trial. today a star witness from the philadelphia police department took the stand. he is key testimony that he says just didn't feel right. >> nbc 10 was inside the courtroom when the trial entered the second week. >> reporter: that witness deputy police commissioner joseph sullivan. he says he was pressed by williams to get special treatment to a friend of williams. he testified this morning but spending most of the day on the stand the philadelphia bar owner that testified he gave seth williams and trips and a jaguar for special favors. he told the jury seth williams got him a special badge to make him an adviser in the district attorney's office and wrote letters on his behalf. he took a plooe deal that had him escaping jail time.

when it came to other penalties he sought the help of district attorney seth williams. williams according to prosecutors got trips to the west coast, vegas and at least three trips to florida. first on the stand deputy police commissioner joseph sullivan. the member of the philadelphia police department headed the city's counter terror unit. he said he never had a social relationship with the d.a. but in 2011 when williams reached out claiming a close friend had been the subject of racial bias while returning from an international flight and williams who assured sullivan muhammad ali was of high and moral character. at first sullivan told the jury federal authorities told him ali was clean and later was told it was best he and the district attorney steer clear of ali. >> going back over what happened considering how it unfolded and information received and who i received it from i certainly realize that i moved forward in

words for the next half hour. probably not a good idea. but we could. it is so spectacular. look at doylestown. blue skies, gorgeous day. 77 degrees, refreshing air mass. dew point of 45. winds are calm. let's go to wilmington 78. dew point only 50 and west winds to eight miles per hour. we are looking at comfortable conditions and even a little warmer out at some of the beaches. 82 atlantic city. i know the censors are a little inland from the beach. that is a comfortable temperature. we have a dew point of 46. west southwest winds to 15 miles per hour. very nice across the region. here in philadelphia 80 degrees. southwest winds to ten miles per hour and dew point of only 46. i have to tell you the feels like is lower than the actual air temperature because the air mass is so dry. here is something we probably don't always want to see at the beach on doppler radar. today it doesn't seem to have that much of an impact.

we have this green squiggly line, a bit of a sea breeze developing. some beaches getting a little bit of air conditioning. we have this huge storm system making its way out of the upper great lakes and the midwest and it will kick pieces of energy in our direction and we may get a few sprinkles or showers as we go through the overnight tonight and tomorrow. and then a stretch of very lovely weather before the holiday weekend. 11:00 tonight perhaps an isolated shower or sprinkle. this will sort of die down but early in the morning we may see this thing developing across philadelphia and out across south jersey towards the jersey shore. quiet as we head into tuesday morning and then we can see one of these instability showers developing and mabing their way through the area tomorrow afternoon. it's what happens fourth of july holiday weekend that gets very

interesting regarding the rain and the heat. come on back for that. >> see you then. tonight in new castle county the search is on for two women accused of trying to steal $1,000 worth of clothing. police say these two women walked into the kohl's on kirk wood highway and took merchandise on display, put it in a shopping bag and tried to leave. an employee confronted them so they dropped the bag, ran to the parking lot and drove off. a police officer went after them but stopped the chase at the pennsylvania, delaware border. a warning over counterfeit money being used at the boardwalk. they got multiple calls from businesses given $20 bills. take a look. the bills were missing two key features, the security strip and the portrait watermark. an argument over a parking space led to a fist fight. >> it started when the suspect tried to reserve a space by standing in it. that is when a 52-year-old woman

drove her car into that space. police say the 20-year-old spencer refused to move and punched the woman twice in the face and threw her cell phone. she is facing several charges. investigators in delaware county are trying to figure out what sparked a fire that ripped across the porches of two row homes. crews went to the scene overnight on west seventh street in chester. no one was hurt. the city looking for volunteers now to help clean up the community. the municipality is launching cleanup effort. volunteers will be issued a pin and city badge. their duty is to document trash around the neighborhood. the concept comes as city leaders look to polish up streets and spruce up pride. >> not supposed to approach the people but get information of date, time, place if there was a car or things of that sort and

right now at 5:00 we are breaking down seth williams corruption trial. week two started today. so far the trial has been filled with key testimony about lavish gifts and alleged bribes. our legal expert joins us now. we heard from a high ranking philadelphia police officer who testified about how he got roped into this scheme. how much weight do you think this will carry to the jury hearing from a police officer with a good reputation testifying against theuiv@z dis attorney? >> anytime you have an officer testifying especially a highly decorated officer, a lot of medals on him and dressed in white very good for the prosecution. once again this is a two way street. if you are the defense you will say that you look at this. he had a very high reputable

officer trying to stop racial profiling no way is this an attempt to do something illegal. this guy has a well known reputation. of course the prosecution is continuing to say this is a pattern of bribery. this is one for the other. this guy ali was trying to get seth williams to do these things. here he is talking to this officer trying to compromise them. >> you know we have heard wins after witness testify against williams talking about giving gifts knowing that the district attorney would help them in return. how would you offset that testimony? >> you have to show direct correlation and that one is exactly for the other. that is what the whole theme of this case is. the defense is going to say you can show there are gifts and he had friends who had money and friends that did things for him. the defense is going to be hammering away as they have been doing the entire time to say you

can't show he did something specifically for one thing and just because people have done things for him that that is not enough to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that this was a bribe and kick back and these things done in the open including lunch with this particular officer. there was no secret here and trying to stop racial profiling and trying to be a helpful friend. >> nbc 10 legal analyst. thank you. the family of a man killed by a minnesota police officer reached a settlement in his death. the family of castile announced a $3 million settlement. police officer was acquitted of second degree man slaughter in castile's death earlier this month. the son of a former major league baseball player is in a medically induced coma after he

sea breeze develop. what to expect? will we be sizzling or soggy for the holiday weekend? 80s and 90s friday through tuesday fourth of july. it will be sticky as humidity increases each and every day. some of those days will be near 90. it will be a little more summer like and a little more uncomfortable. this is what we are looking at as far as rain. there is a frontal boundary that is going to approach. it is going to trigger perhaps a shower or storm friday and outside chance. sunday a pretty good chance. monday no. right now it looks dry and on the 4th it looks like a pretty good chance. this is what we are looking at for your fireworks. wawa welcome america carry rain slicker except if you watch from home. here is our doppler radar. you can see it a little bit of a sea breeze that has developed out across the beaches. we will put it into motion just

the last hour you can see it pushing inland that green line out there. that is about all we are looking at right now. the big area of low pressure coming across lake michigan right now and bringing lines of showers and storms across the upper midwest and into the ohio valley will be approaching and could trigger an isolated shower tonight and tomorrow. let's watch what happens hour by hour. 80 in philadelphia right now. temperatures will drop into the 60s tonight. winds out of the south. it will make it cooler along the beaches and could see an isolated shower. watch what happens. maybe at 2:30 in the morning we can see that in south jersey and continue into tomorrow. could see a shower moving through the area. these are going to be widely scattered. wednesday looks gorgeous. thursday looks gorgeous, as well. near 80 on wednesday. upper 80s by the time that we get into our thursday and winds turn out of the southwest. tomorrow you will be at 78.

this is nbc 10 news. an early morning bike ride ended in a deadly fall in north jersey. two brothers were mountain biking when one accidently rode off a cliff. firefighters and first responders used ropes and pulleys to recover the man's body. tonight a swimmer is safe on

higher ground after a dramatic rescue caught on tape. a man swimming in a turbulent river in northern california was overcome by rushing water. luckily he made it on to the rock right there. he waited for help even signaling the helicopter. the emergency chopper air lifted him to safety. the power of social media helped make a little boy's birthday extra special and one he will never forget. hundreds of bikers rolled into kansas yesterday to help sawyer baldwin celebrate his second birthday. he loves motorcycles so much that his mother posted a message on facebook asking riders to drop by and surprise him. >> one simple request turned into something so much bigger. >> nearly 300 motorcycle riders from across the state showed up to support him. he had a pretty good time. >> he is digging it for sure.

school. police say 33-year-old debra gulliver was beaten and stabbed. investigators say she was attacked after getting off the bus. police now looking for the wins who called 911 but left before police arrived. take a look. you recognize these shorts. police are trying to identify a body that washed up on the beach. around 9:00 last night. officers say it is a man believed to be in early 20s. anyone with information is asked to call police. a new jersey task force outlined a plan to put an end to sexual assaults on college campuses. it says schools should establish ways for students to report assaults. universities need to create investigation models to deal with cases and college conducts surveys to ask about assaults

police. taxes are going down for people in cherry hill. the average homeowner can expect to see it drop by about $22 during the 2018 fiscal year. council will vote on the matter tonight. full budget will be introduced in august and expected to be adopted in acceptseptember. in cape may county a new incentive. uber announced it is partnering with the campaign for designated drivers. the initiative asks people to take a pledge not to drive after drinking. the first 2,000 people to take the pledge will receive a discount for uber ride. the peace valley nature center is this year's winner of keep pennsylvania beautiful great america cleanup video contest. that is a long name for a contest. winners were chosen based on how many likes their videos received

pray as a technical issue caused the plane to shake violently. the flight was forced to return back. >> that guy is smiling. >> passengers took video inside the jet saying heavy shaking started two hours before they turned around. passengers reported hearing a bang mid flight and said once they got on the ground air asia showed no communication or care for customers. >> the plane started shuttering a lot. you can tell by the reaction that it was really bad. >> terrifying there. asia airline hasn't given an explanation for the shaking. they say they are investigating the turbulence. a wilmington city public pool has a new name. the prices run pool renamed the joseph r. biden aquatic center

philadelphia. no rain today and the highest wind gust 23 miles per hour. if you want to catch a spectacular sunset that will be at 8:34 this evening. what's going on? how about 76 in the pennsylvania suburbs with lots of sunshine? i love the tilted camera there. 79 out in new jersey. still looking at beautiful weather there. 77 in lehigh valley with sun and a few fair weather clouds. 81 for all of you in delaware. certainly a very, very pleasant time out there this evening and into tomorrow. look at the temperatures below average. we should be well into the 80s. we are looking at 70s across the area for highs tomorrow with fairly low humidity until the atmosphere saturates. i think that may take a little while to do. we have a storm system off to the west. the models want to aggressively push rain in here. as we see doppler radar we see a sea breeze developing here making its way inland both in delaware and along the jersey

shore and will continue to see that refreshing sea breeze. we are looking at the big area of low pressure coming out of lake michigan area where it is centered right now. it is swirling the lines of showers and storms around it. we also have showers in the western part of pennsylvania. a lot of this bumping into our drier air mass. as the atmosphere saturates we might see a scattered shower out there. so this evening could see something up in the southern poconos. for tomorrow i think that we start out perhaps fairly quiet. look at this wants to bring showers through in the forecast model. i think it is not as widely spread because we have a dry atmosphere. as this kind of moistens up we see potential of instability shower. wednesday things look great. upper 70s, low 80s. on thursday plenty of sunshine and mid to upper 80s. heat starts to build back into the area. let's take a look at what is going to go on in your
