work maintenance inside the food court area of the mall. investigators tonight say they have arrested a former resident of ben salem township charging him with mount pl counts of child assault. listen to what the public safety director had to say about this case. >> hopefully he will never be able to do any other harm to any other children. the ages of 4 to 18 the most heinous of crimes. >> investigators tell us the youngest victim in this case 4 years old. they say that westmoreland assaulted these children over a period of time. the youngest victim is 4 years old. one victim was 6 the first time he assaulted her and again at the age of 18. tonight if you have any snfgs, you're asked to call police. she was just brought in here to

police. he's going to be arraigned within the next hour or so. a man crashed a uhaul truck. this is cell phone video that appears to show the driver of the truck running away immediately after the wreck. investigators say that driver has been charged with dui. he was taken to the hospital with leg injuries. the brewery say it is will be reopened in time for dinner. 20 minutes of nontop stuz b continues with messages of hate spray painted on several homes. crews have been working to cover up graffiti. it was discovered early this morning on homes along snider in

south philadelphia. >> you have spoken to people this that neighborhood. what are they saying? >> talk about a rude awakening. they tell me that some of the messages they suggested symbols of molotov cocktails. this is what's left of the graffiti as crews were scrubbing away at the spray paint. police were beginning their investigation trying to figure out who did this. >> right here. it was right here. >> this is what they are working on. right here they hit it. >> the graffiti greeted neighbors first thing this morning. messages like it is right to rebel and kill a cop, save a life. ch charley, who has lived on this block with his family for decades, has no idea why they spray painted the words of hate here. >> i think it was not just

unwilling participant. if you know who this woman is is, call police. deanna durante, nbc 10 news. friends ask family will hold a a vigil for a woman who was killed while taking a shortcut through a park. police still do not have a suspect or a motive. the vigil begins in 45 minutes. we're learning r more about human bones found at a construction site. police tell us the remains may be those of an adult female based on the pink jacket found wrapped around the bones. workers digging at a site on west atlantic street discovered the remains last week. investigators say the skeleton was nearly intact and likely there for six months or more. delaware officials took another step towards balancing the budget. the budget committee has agreed on $51 million in spending cuts. the committee plans to supplement that spending with grant money and the use of nonprofits.

the dead line to come up with an agreement is saturday. inmalts had to be revived after overdosing inside the correctional center last week. narcan counters the effects of an overdose. the governor made good on one of his promises to improve conditions at the correctional center. the governor added a temporary assistant. she will work on making changes that include better training for guards. inmates took over the prison killing a correctional officer. penn state is close to opening a new child abuse research center. school official says they are targeting a september opening for the center for healthy children. it's part of the university's commitment to battling child abuse in the wake of jerry sandusky's arrest is can can conviction on child abuse charges. pets in pennsylvania have new protections against abuse. governor wolf was joined by a

furry friend as he signed a bill that forces owners to give up animals if if they have been convicted of abuse. it protects advocates who report cruelty and increases safeguards for horses as well. the new law takes effect in 60 days. it just got easier to stay informed. officials announced a new app available to all residents. the county sheriffs office announced today the e e release of a new app with the free app residents can receive alerts and notificatio notifications. the submit a tip feature allows to send anonymous information about crimes. the race is on to get ready for the biggest birthday bash. a live look at the ben franklin parkway. crews are setting up for the wawa welcome america festival. it all kicks off tomorrow with the first event slated for 9:0 a.m. that means we're now just over 1 hours away from the start of the big party.

ready. point at 78. it's 80 in reading. 81 in lincoln. it did reach the mid-70s and the sea breeze pushed the temperature down a little. and the humidity is up but it's not going to be a steamy day. maybe feeling like it's close to 100. 90 degrees for the high on sunday. there's no moisture around. we have the fair weather clouds. the nearest rain is in michigan.

this morng it was actually chilly in some parts of the area. temperatures getting down not only to the 50s, a couple spots got into the 40s. but even some of our colder spots, watch them as we go through the night tonight. maybe a couple upper 50s, but that's about as low as we go. here we are in philadelphia. starting at 64. so it will be a quick rise for temperatures going well into the 80s. even by early afternoon and we're peaking fairly close to 90 degrees tomorrow afternoon. then as we go into friday, we have some clouds starting to come in. some showers possible up in the poconos and the lehigh valley. that's just the beginning of the increase in moisture. tammie souza will take it from here.

>> you were showing the forecast models that are kind of the tighter models that show us more details to what's going on. >> the shorter range, we get more details farther out in time a little less detail. >> i'm going with the less detail. that's going to show you hit and miss showers across the area. we're going with the glass is half full. we're not going to see a a total washout. take a look. this is where we are on saturday morning. there could be some showers in the lehigh valley is and burkes county. this is the tail end of that system that was come iing throu the upper midwest. michigan and through chicago and indiana. e we get into saturday evening and these are light shades of green. not the deep green with the heavy downpours that stick around. so we could see some showers really developing this the evening and afternoon hours on that very hot saturday and continuing into our sunday morning. i really disagree with the model that sunday is this welt wet. there will be some areas that pick up some showers sunday, but

i think for the most part, it's saturday night and into sunday at this point and then maybe even isolated showers out along the jersey shore. monday looks like a nice day. so all this has gone past. it sort of pushes back north ward. we see tuesday is true think the afterno afternoon. as we go into firework time, we could be looking at some isolated showers and storms. so you still need to carry the rain slicker, but the good news is the forecast seems to be improving for the 4th. tr saturday, we're going to be looking at the 90s across the area. 9 there. again, isolated thunderstorms, especially into pennsylvania suburbs and across philadelphia and south jersey. this is going to be mainly late in @ day and at night. on sunday for the most part, everybody can see a shower or thunderstorm. that's going to be in the morning. and then on monday, we're looking at dry conditions.

check out the video of a a violent bus crash in detroit. the bus hit an suv that crossed its path pushing it 50 feet. it then plowed through a a brick wall. that bus driver was knocked unconscious. it sounded like an explosion. five people were hurt in all that. to this it police chase this ohio. take a look at the sheriffs deputy. watch as his police cruiser slowly starts rolling away. there he goes. he realized what was happening and ran after his car and caught up to it just as it was headed into a busy intersection. it all ended okay. this guy had just one last

we have a dry night tonight. mild in the evening. it does not cool off as much as it did last night. we're talking about 59 degrees in the lehigh valley by 6:00 a.m. where it was closer to 50 this morning. so that's a considerable difference. we're going to start off from a higher plane ask then with the sunshine tomorrow, it's going to get hotter. some folks may get pretty close to 90 degree mark and a lot of us will get to 90 degrees on friday. and i'll have more of us getting to the 90 degree mark on saturday. and maybe even sunday too. we'll get into those specific numbers and talk about the rain chances when they are the highest in a few minutes. here's a look now at the other stoiries we're following. we start in delaware county where the state choice campaign is holding a vigil tonight in media. they are pushing for a fair and balanced budget in the state. attendees are asking legislators to reach across the aisle for

degrees. the sea breeze coming in here knocking the temperature down. and in the other side of our area, we head up to burkes county and lehigh value e lee, 79 in leesport. so it's actually warmer in parts of the lehigh valley than it is in many areas close to the jersey shore. and even in delaware. radar and satellite shows not much close by. we have some fair weather clouds around. and then the rain, that's a long way away. not headed in our direction, at least not directly. certainly not any time soon. as we look at the neighborhood forecast for tomorrow, we don't

have any rain predicted for any part of the area. you can see the neighborhood forecast at the bottom of your screen at any time. 89 degrees in fairmont. 89 in reading. you can see all the sunshine across much of the area. it will be cooler at the jersey shore with the sea breeze. 83 degrees in egg harbor township. it's a pretty nice day. it's hotter than what we have seen today. and the humidity up a little bit too. then on friday, we have a lot of sunshine across most of the area. but lehigh valley and knows, you're going to seat clouds increase and the shower threat increase. at least a little bit by late friday it or friday night. and then the shower threat increases more from there. >> you have plans tr the holiday

weekend on the 4th. >> yeah, i think so. there's some celebration going on. >> we're going to be involved with the wawa america. and tuesday is the day that we're hoping we won't see rain, but we might. let's run down the numbers. this is a global forecast model. it's a big model that wraps all the l way around the globe. it's not as detailed. look what happens. saturday morning, maybe a shower in the lehigh valley. and then it is in the the afternoon and evening that e we could see a shower or thunderstorm moving through. remember saturday will be the hottest day and the most humid. so it won't surprise me to see a shower or storm pop. this will linger into sunday. i do not it e agree with this model showing all the rain on sunday. i think e we clear out later in it the day. on monday we have a beautiful day. we may see an isolated shower, but for the most part, monday is warm, about 90 or above, but
