was once the city's topic prosecutor admitted to accepting bribes. seth williams was then handcuffed and taken to jail. >> nbc 10's rosemary connors was there live when all this unfold unfold unfolded. >> reporter: as you said, the man who once put criminals away finds himself in jail. that's when he will be sentenced. his sentencing could be as much as five years in prison. we did talk to jurors in case who tell us they're disappointed they didn't get the opportunity to deliberate. >> there are things we did here. most of us we got done talking and we do believe he was guilty. >> reporter: while seth williams was pleading guilty before the judge, jury was not in the courtroom. some tell nbc 10 they were disappointed they couldn't deliberate on the now disgraced district attorney's fate.

some had formed opinions. >> the last thing i heard about seth williams, he was coming in and everyone said how wonderful and so much promise he had. so i think as he got larger and larger, he was trying to live a life that he couldn't afford. >> reporter: today williams admitted to receiving gifts in exchange for giving favors in his capacity as d.a. in one scheme he wrote a letter vouching for a businessman and bar owner who needed help with an out-of-state liquor license. >> somebody of his character and education and job, you know, i thought he would have known a little bit better. >> he's concerned about the stress it's put on his family and the district attorney's office and he's been sadly humbled by his experience. >> reporter: his attorney expressed how sorry he was for the crime. the acting attorney overseeing the case described the outcome as a victory. >> i don't think there's any

question he sold his office for anchor erupt stream of benefits. it's sad, the trust people placed in him. today mr. williams was held accountable. >> coming up at 6:00 we'll talk about how this plea deal started and ended with a phone call with federal prosecutors at 1:00 this morning. williams joins a long list of convicted pennsylvania politicians. last year longtime chaka pata was sentenced. he's currently in prison. kathleen kane was convicted in a perjury and obstruction case in relation to a grand jury leak. and in 2015 representative michelle brownlee resigned from her post after pleading guilty for pocketing cash from a

bombing aircraft to those on the ground. they've been granted full review of the travel ban. oral arguments are set for october. the house pressed ahead with the no sanctuary for criminals act which puts pressure on cities to work with authorities to detain undocumented immigrants. if approved, sanctuary cities like philadelphia could be stripped of federal funding. >> a jersey shore doctor who was involved in a standoff with police will not be able to practice medicine for now. >> two weeks ago police showed up at dr. cough man's house. he came to the door with a gone. they're now calling him an eminent danger. kaufman is still in jail on gun

charges. prosecutors say this is not related to the may 2012 murder of his wife april kaufman. police in camden are looking for an arsonist who apparently needs help getting around. twice he set rope to the camden library is on fire. you see the man is using crutches. he may have casts. if you recognize him, call police. a blender booper had one viewer turning to nbc 10. the push that made kwas nart finally call her back. an unwanted wakeup call as a woman finds a stranger sleeping in her bed. now police say he could be a serial stalker. >> and rumor has it, the rumor by a singing power half has some wondering if this is her last tour ever. and wawa america festivities is under way. the free family fun you won't want to miss this weekend.

winds are out of the southwest bringing all that warmth into the area. so how are we as compared to yesterday? we're 8 degrees warmer in philadelphia. allentown, to atlanta, one degree warmer. 80 in vineland. if you're in pocono, a refreshing 75. do you sew all the rain in the distance? that's not us. to north and west of us. moving to new york and western portions of pennsylvania. this our realistic sky so you can see it far in the distance. it's 79 in atlantic city. where are we going tomorrow? how about 92 for all of you in fairmont. langhorne, 90. allentown, you could see a thunderstorm in lehigh valley or out in berks county. the rest of the area, mainly dry and stickery.

83. dover, yo'll be at 90 tomorrow. much of the area will be quiet with a mix of sun and clouds. nothing going on. but look at this. these are storms we saw. all of this is associated with two, not one, but two large storm systems comes out of the northwest. the first one produced tornadoes with baseball-sized hail. that's the first storm these going to go past us. we've go a one-two punch. we make it out of the area with a west wind. ite fwoengs be a warm wind. by saturday morning we're looking at the 70s. very muggy. here comes showers and storms with that one system we saw across the midwest. that's in the evening.

a sudden end the a philadelphia corruption case. a district attorney pleaded guilty and resigned. a man who was once the city's topic prosecutor admitted he accepted bribes. seth williams was handcuffed, taken to jail from the courthouse. but long before his plea deal, he was elected in 2009. they looked to see if he misspent funds on personal expenses. for nearly a year the nbc 10 asked him about his conduct and ethics. >> mitch blacher joins us live outside the courthouse. we talked about this before. williams has always told you he has nothing to hide. >> reporter: keith, erin, he has always told us he has nothing to

hide and he didn't do anything wrong, but that's not what he told a federal judge since august seth williams has never wanted to talk about the scandals surrounding hiss office. >> mr. williams, come on. >> reporter: he didn't want to discuss the $45,000 roof on his home or the friend who gave it to him. by monday revelations about his gift disclosures, more than $160,000 in suits, jewelry, trips, and home construction turned into the largest ethics find in philadelphia history. calls for his resignation echoed from philadelphia to harrisburg. >> with people calling for your resignation because of the ethics violations, are you going to resign? >> no, i'm not going to resign. >> reporter: he stays in office collecting his $175,000 annual salary but announces he won't

17th two weeks ago. one of the men pulled a gun out and robbed a 27-year-old. they got away with a cell phone and $300. a scare at an airport. fire officials were called to jfk airport for a kitchen fire at terminal 4. they evacuated the area after a heavy smoke started pouring out of the panda express. it's unclear what sparked the fire. no injuries were reported. your first alert forecast, the hot and humid forecast. taking a look at ocean city where the beach is flooded with people beyond there. you could tell they're out there, enjoying it. people have been kicking off the holiday weekend aliet bit early. you can see them enjoying the outdoors. the background, just beautiful. but get ready to sweat. the heat and the humidity is rising. >> nbc chief meteorologist
