attorney immediately. rosemary connors is live at the courthouse. what happens now? >> reporter: he will remain in a jail cell until october 24th. that's when he's sentenced. he may well be moved to another federal facility. he said it was the time away from his family, his daughters, that prompted him to take the plea. >> you saw how emotional he was. it's a dramatic turning point in his life. >> he was a topic cop with political powers. that is until he took favors. today he pled guilty to one count of bribery and counseled spend five years in prison. >> i think it was leaping toward finding him guilty. >> reporter: the jury did not

get to deliberate but some say they were convinced by the evidence. one was bucks county businessman hoe mamd ali who testified about giving williams lavish gifts including a vacation to punta con ta, a couch, lavish gifts, dinners as restaurants. >> today mr. williams admitted he sold his office in skpank for a corrupt series of payments. >> reporter: as his spiritual adviser, has he expressed remorse to you. >> of course. of course. guess what. that's going to be done later. >> reporter: among the few was his spiritual adviser. >> he wants to get this over with and get this behind him. he's a man in transition and he's a man on the way back. >> reporter: now, we learned from the defense team today this plea agreement was on the table from the very beginning.

pleading guilty to one count of bribery. remember, he was charged with 29 counts related to corruption. we also learned from the defense team he went back and forth after hearing the. >> tom: from wednesday and that's when he decided to have the lead defense attorney in the case give the lead prosecutor a call. the defense attorney said start drawing up the agreements. reporting live outside federal court, i'm rosemary connors. >> that dramatic moment when seth williams was placed in handcuffs. you were there in court. can you explain that and what that moment was like? >> jim, i was there. it happened very quickly because the judge had adjourned court for day. that's when federal thoughts went in, placed handcuffs on him and led him out. certainly the optics of h, he was still the district attorney early this morning when he came to court, having been led away by handcuffs by federal

authorities, it was stunning the say the least. in terms of seth williams coming into court, you saw a lit billion it that video. he walked into court. he was smiling, greeted people, said good morning. he knew what he was going to do but perhaps he didn't realize he was going to be in a jail cell this evening. remember at the end of pleading guilty he expressed to the judge he wanted to be on bail leading up to trial. leading up to trial he's been on bail, staying with his family, but the judge said, i do not believe you, i don't believe you're not a flight risk, and sew he decided to send him to the federal detention center and that's where he'll remain until october. >> talk about a dramatic change, thank you. coming up at 6:00, what will happen to williams? harry hairston gets firsthand accounts.

rage crash. 189-year-old bianca roverson died yesterday. it happened in the southbound lanes in west ocean township. police say a red pickup truck was seen driving away from the scene. investigators are trying to find that driver. tonight at 6:00 we have some new surveillance video of the vandals who targeted a popular tourist attraction twice. the vandals appear to be teenagers and this surveillance video shows them at playland cast away cove. police say they topicaled and broke two soda machines, flipped over half the trash cans at the park as well. five people in new jersey are accused of ripping off more than a $500,000. they would remoove the lien on the cars and then sell them. they're charged with conspiracy, money laundering and forgery. still ahead, a twiftd in
