right now at 11:00, the hunt for a road rage killer comes to a sudden end. a man is now accused of gunning down a teenage girl on a highway. a twitter post from president trump has millions reacting tonight. some calling it threatening. others say it's harmless. and packed crowds across our region for a fourth of july celebration. plus the biggest event about to happen. "nbc 10 news" starts now. >> this is a story of a savage and senseless murder. >> tonight, the search is over for a man accused of road rage murder. 28-year-old david desper turned himself in after a multistate search that lasted several days. he surrendered and was charged just one day after police

released surveillance video of a pickup truck allegedly used in that road rage killing. and now the 28-year-old is facing several charges, including first and third degree murder, criminal homicide, and reckless endangerment. lauren walks us through what happened today and what's next for desper. >> he pulled out a again and shot bianca in the head, killing her instantly. >> reporter: the family tearfully listening to how the 18-year-old was killed. they sat together leaning on each other for support, as the district attorney announced they had the man believed responsible. 28-year-old david desper turned himself in early this morning. >> has he been here the past couple of days? >> no, he has not. >> reporter: his neighbor heard the road rage story but was shocked the suspect was living so close to home. >> it's just crazy.

i just don't know. i'm shocked. >> reporter: david desper lived here. inside, police found the weapon they believe he used to kill bianca. for those grieving her, still heartbreak today. >> we just had the graduation for the school, and the kids were so full of hope. >> reporter: but at least a little relief. >> i said are they ever going to get this guy? my friend said, they're going to get the truck and the guy. and i said, how do you know? she said, they just will. >> reporter: they found that red truck at an address in glenn mills. david desper is expected to face a judge july 13. >> nbc 10 has been covering the story from the beginning.

face has been koefred with the cnn logo. republican lawmakers say the president needs to stop. >> it's unfortunate. people are begging the president not to do this, and he has to stop doing it. >> president trump's tweet comes days after he personally attacked msnbc's "morning joe" host mika brzezinski and joe scarborough. cnn responded saying -- dozens of rallies calling for president trump's impeachment were held, including in philadelphia. demonstrators rallied outside the texas state capital in austin. a pro trump crowd also marched with a confederate flag. in atlanta, the smaller crowd united to demand impeachment. some said president trump should leave office because of the possibility of collusion with russia.

people in new york rallied around columbus circle. they were met with trump supporters who offered suggestions on how to make america great again. in center city, opponents and supporters of president trump marched near independence mall. police made three arrests during the rallies. two trump opponents hit a pro trump marcher outside a bar, and a third anti-trump demonstrator assaulted a police officer. new jersey governor chris christie wants lawmakers to return to the statehouse tomorrow to hammer out a state budget. the stalemate is pitting the democratic head of the assembly against the republican governor. at issue is an overhaul of the state's largest health insurer, blue cross/blue shield of new

jersey. the >> they sent me a budget today. the shutdown would be over. it is the legislature choosing not to send me either budget. [ inaudible ] >> the budget bill is 14 votes shy of the 41 it needs to pass. and the shutdown is putting a dent in holiday plans for some. right now, more than 50 state parks, historic sites and recreation areas are closed. tonight, state courts were also ordered to shut down. state police, hospitals, and new jersey transit are still in operation. state parks are closed to the public, governor chris christie is staying at island beach state park with his family. the governor's residence is owned by the state, and today, the governor defended his use of the property saying that's the way it goes. run for governor and you can have the residence. new jersey is not the only state waiting on a budget.

tonight at least five firefighters are recovering from smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion. it happened when they were battling a house fire in bucks county. crewed arrived in quaker town late this afternoon. it took about an hour to get that fire under control. no word on how it started. one utility worker is dead and two others hurt after a gas explosion. they were investigating a leak at a home before the blast. there's only rubble left at this home in lancaster county. more than 100 emergency workers and volunteers were called to this house around 1:00 this afternoon. one neighbor says he ran to

safety when he heard the blast. >> everything was shaking, glass was going everywhere, the house felt like it was falling apart. >> four other homes nearby were also damaged. tonight, investigators want to find the vandals who posted this banner with an ethnic slur and the words "they will not divide us." it was discovered saturday. a $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest for those responsible. investigators are looking for the cause of the house fire in southwest philadelphia. flames broke out around midnight last night on elmwood street. crews got the fire under control in minutes and everyone inside made it out safely including the dogs. people living in parts of upstate new york are trying to

beer garden and live music. at the end of a fireworks for ever to get out and enjoy. the congressional budget office predicts the number of uninsured will increase by 22 million. and the figure is at the center of a lot of spinning by democrats and republicans. jim rosenfeld has the story. >> according to cbo, this bill would throw 22 million americans off of health insurance. >> it's not that people are getting pushed off a plan, but people would choose not to buy something they don't like or want. >> both of them are inaccurate. both of those statements are inaccurate. >> reporter: 22 million americans thrown off health insurance or opting out of coverage? according to the congressional budget office, under the senate bill, it's a question nation of both. under the affordable care act,

known as obamacare, there's a tax penalty for people who don't buy insurance. in 2016, it was $695, or 2% of a person's income, which ever is higher. under the senate bill that goes away. >> what happens is there will be people who won't buy insurance, because they aren't forced to buy it anymore, which was paul ryan's point. but to bernie sanders' point, there will be people who will be forced off, because they can't afford it. >> reporter: the senate bill reduces spending on medicaid by $772 billion over ten years. there will be 15 million fewer people on medicaid by 2026, compared to what would happen under current law according to factcheck.org. the white house is also weighing in, trying to discredit the cbo report tweeting, fact, when obamacare was signed, cbo estimated that 23 million would be covered in 2017. they were off by 100%. only 10.3 million people are covered. actually, the cbo was pretty

close. in 2012, it projected obamacare would reduce the number of people uninsured to 30 million. it actually reduced the number to 28.2 million. >> what cbo got wrong was the mix of insured. they underestimated the number of people who would be enrolled under the medicaid expansion program part of the bill. and they overestimated the number of people who had purchased private insurance on the individual market. but the overall result was pretty accurate. >> reporter: i'm chip rosenfield for nbc news. >> and this morning, rosemary connor spoke with chuck todd about the bill's future. >> what are the chances republicans can get enough leadership to sign on and what role is the white house playing? >> if they couldn't get it done before the fourth of july

six adults died when a small airplane crashed in northern wisconsin. the cessna left the chicago area and was headed to canada when it went down saturday morning. the plane dropped altitude quickly and radio contact was lost. quite a scare when this jet's engine caught fire at the airport in denver. all 59 passengers and four crew members made it off safely. no one was hurt. investigators are trying to determine what started the fire. take a look at this. an amtrak train carrying more than 252 passengers went off the rails.
