look at the temperatures. the results of the sunshine and low humidity. we're at 87 in philadelphia and wilmington. 88 in millville. our coolest temps are north. allentown and pottstown at 81. with many of us heading to the 90s, make sure if you are going outside you are drinking plenty of water and hiding out in the shade from time to time as well. radar and satellite, not a thing to track across our area. it's the sunshine that we have. a few thin clouds overhead. if we pull out and you look to the north, there is a front to our north. that cold front not firing off storms. it's going to try to bring a little line of rain to our area by this evening. that could impact the philly pops concert tonight at ind p d

there were that normal morning rush, we would be in a sticky spot. let's start where pamela was, the wawa welcome america festival. the historic philadelphia block party. that's starting around noon. they are seeing closures in place. it's going to last at least most of the cleanup and through all of the entertainment that happens until 7:00 p.m. you can see that closure starting between 5th and 6th street between market and chestnut. around that surrounding area, around the independence mall and we are seeing more closures around the ben franklin parkway that will start later tonight and tomorrow morning. center city and the surrounding areas are going to give you a run for your money if you are heading out the door. the roads look great. the schuylkill is what we are watching. it's smooth both directions. earlier we were seeing delays getting off the gerald avenue offr ramp. cars on the garden state parkway. no delays now. you will probably see moving

from the atlantic city expressway for some traffic around the 7s mark. watch for the merge. for now everything looks okay. >> thank you. now to day three of the new jersey government shutdown. lawmakers are back trying to find a solution to the budget impasse. katy zachry has the latest. >> reporter: lawmakers began trickling just before 10:00 this morning. they are here because governor christie asked them to come to work and try and reach an agreement on a budget. a lot of eyes in new jersey are on the state house today as taxpayers deal with an unexpected state government shutdown. the governor asked lawmakers to come to work monday morning to iron out a budget impasse that's preventing state government from operating as normal. the impasse has closed beaches, state parks and historic landmarks throughout new jersey on one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year. the reason, governor christie

wants the plan to allow more state control of horizon blue cross blue shield. but the assembly speaker is but the assembly speaker is fighting that and has enough support to cause a stalemate. i was in the state house outside the achambers. by 10:00, only a few had shown up. we are learning that at noon today, speaker preate is set to meet with representatives. >> governor christie is defending his right to be on a state beach closed to the public because of the government shutdown. here is a picture of christie soaking up the sun at island beach state park. he is making no apologies for it. he said he made his plans before the shutdown and the media had simply caught a politician keeping his word. a different story in delaware. delaware has a new budget. last night and one day after the deadline the house and senate passed the $4.1 billion spending

plan. lawmakers approved restoring more than $60 million in cuts to senior centers, first responders and non-profits. taxes on alcohol, tobacco and real estate transfers will pay for that. the governor signed the budget bill into law. two firefighters are in the hospital after suffering from extreme heat while battling a house fire in richland. crews from the quaker fire department were called to the home around 5:00 last night. took them an hour to put out the flames. one person is hurt in a house fire in philadelphia's overbrook section. this broke out in the basement of the home along kenmore road. it was quickly put under control. fire destroyed a garage. firefighters were called to silverwood street around 4:30 this morning. they quickly put out the flames. the man accused of a road rage murder in chester county is in prison. he turned himself in yesterday after a four-day search across several states.

authorities say he shot and killed an 18-year-old last week. this happened while she was merging lee ining lanes. her parents listened yesterday as the county d.a. announced the arrest and the recovery of his truck and a gun believed used in the murder. for loved ones and friends, emotions are still raw. >> i just could feel that mom's pain. i have children myself. >> this is a story of a savage and senseless murder. >> she was about to start college at jacksonville university in florida. she graduated last month. the family of the suspect posted this handwritten note on their front door. it says, our hearts go out to the family. we will have no further comment at this time. two children are thanking the police for their hard work arresting him. they delivered treats and a note

president trump is keeping all options open on pushing for health care reform. the president's top legislative aide insists the senate is getting close to agreeing on their bill to repeal and replace the affordable care act. the aide says the president is calling lawmakers to get the deal done. president trump believes the gop should consider repealing the aca and replacing it later. president trump is taking no break from tweeting this holiday weekend. his latest post is a video and the target is cnn. it shows old images of the president at a wrestle-mania event. what's new is the person's face is covered by a cnn logo. the president recently blasted the cable network after it was forced to retract a story about one of his close allies. one republican had this advice

beginning in easton, pennsylvania. beautiful blue skies. a few thin clouds out there. the same can be said in wilmington. a little more cloud, but it's the haze. high, thin clouds. this is a sunny day across the board. we go from wilmington to cape may, new jersey. look at everyone out on the beach. i'm only a little jealous. very nice conditions at the shore today. we are tracking across the region the possibility later today for an isolated storm to develop. mostly this potential will be for the lehigh valley. take a look across the map. we did include the spot shower chance over center city. this will be in the late part of the day. models are starting to increase that chance just a tad. if something moves through, it's not going to ruin any plans. something that might affect plans, how hot it is. 91 for the forecast high in summerton. 87 in west chester. look in the lehigh valley, upper 80s. this is the best chance of a spot thunderstorm or shower moving through.

also in mercer county, could see a storm roll by. we will look at future model in a second. i will show you what i mean. inland, you start to see warmer temps. in delaware, 91. rehoboth beach, mid to upper 80s. hour by hour, we see clouds to our north. right now, the front that's to our north is not producing any rain. in the afternoon, it may be able to fire off a few showers or an isolated storm. humidity low. that's a good sign for us. it lowered the potential. most models are giving this line around 4:00 to 5:00 through berks county and lehigh valley. a spot storm is possible. the models are now keeping this line together just enough that we may see a storm move through parts of the i-95 corridor. most were moving it over to mercer county. this is a spotty chance. i'm not saying it's going to

wash out any plans this evening. it's around 6:00 to 8:00 we see the possibility. then things kind of clear out overnight. into tuesday for the fourth of july, we start with clouds. otherwise, fairly dry conditions across the map. that's through the morning hours. in the afternoon, the southern parts of our viewing area could see a spot shower. it doesn't look like anything terribly dangerous or anything very strong. we could see a spot storm roll by mostly southern zones and that's into tuesday each as well. let's talk about some of the events going on. tone the parade at independence mall. warm conditions to start off at 10:00 a.m., 80. we witness gll get to 85 by noo. humidity not terribly high. partly cloudy conditions for the parade. let's go into the evening hours for the wawa welcome america concert and fireworks. 6:00, people getting outside, 84 will be the temperature. cooling down to 79 by 9:30 with

all the patriotic fun and what you need to know before heading out. pamela osborne is live at the block party. let's begin with our meteorologist. we're getting a break from the humidity. feels great. >> it does. it feels very nice outside. i was out last night watching rocky on the steps. great last night as well. the view from there. you can see it's sunny. the stage is set for the concert and fireworks tomorrow. the forecast is looking pretty good overall. let's talk temperatures out there across the board. we are in the 80s outside. if we pop up our computer system to show the temperatures, it is one of the days where things are looking toasty by the afternoon. 87 in philadelphia. in wilmington 87. look at atlantic city. this is inland at the airport. almost 90 already. water temperature reporting at 59. a little cool in the water still. as we get later in the day, that's when we will see 90s across the map.

saying that releasing the information would not be in the best interest of delaware voters. the commission wants states to turn over personal identification details on voters. pennsylvania has also refused to turn over information. new jersey has not said what it's doing yet. this new video shows a robbery suspect who philadelphia police want to find. the man walked into a store on memphis street last thursday and threatened an employee with a knife. the worker opened the register, the man grabbed the cash and took off. police want you to call them if you recognize the suspect. we are learning new details about the former doctor who opened fire in a new york city hospital. sources say he was fired from new york city's human resources administration just a week before the shooting. he told city supervisors that he had personal problems and stopped showing up for work months ago. he was eventually fired. on friday, he showed up at bronx-lebanon hospital where he worked in 2014 and shot six people, killing one person

before taking his own life. we are learning new details about the weekend shooting that injured more than two dozen people at a rap concert in arkansas. rapper ricky hampton was arrested on unrelated charges after he performed at the concert where 28 people were shot. he remains a person of interest in the concert shooting. police say there are several suspects. the crime is part of a dispute between area gangs. a utility worker is dead and two others are hurt following a gas explosion in lancaster county. the workers were investigatin a gas le blast leak at the home. only rubble is left. more than 100 emergency workers and volunteers responded to the scene yesterday afternoon. one neighbor who said he ran to safety described the explosion. >> massive earthquake. everything was shaking. glass was going everywhere. wood was going everywhere. the house felt like it was falling apart.

>> four homes were damaged because of the blast. the two injured workers are expected to recover. investigators are being looing floo i looking for the cause of a fire at this auto body shop. flames and smoke ripped through the auto sculptor shop. it took 90 minutes to put it out. no one was hurt. investigators in ocean county want to find the vandals who hung an anti-jewish banner. you can see it covering the memorial. authorities said the sign had an ethnic slur with the words they will not divide us. the banner was discovered saturday. state authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. security at britain's top tennis tournament is being stepped because of recent terror attack attacks. >> reporter: increased security at wimbledon'sen tennis

the train derailed in washington state yesterday. passengers reported bumps and bruises. efrp was safely evacuated from the train and put on buses. check out this video of a crack and crumbling highway in oregon. investigators say a water main break and a sinkhole caused it. the sinkhole is about 20 feet wide and four feet deep. the highway was repaired enough to reopen last night. new details in the laptop ban impacting passengers flying from the middle east and africa to the u.s. travellers coming from abu dhabi international airport can use laptops in the cabin and one airline has been removed from the list banning laptops from the cabin. the tsa said the airport and airline both increased security measures to meet safety requirements. the ban was created over fears terrorist groups could smuggle explosives in electronic devices. home depot is recalling thousands of light fixtures. the recall involves more than 64,000 home decorator collection

they open auditions for new members of the dance team and dunk squad. here to tell us more is ashley newell, the dance coach. thafr thanks for being here. we see it -- when we go to the games, what's it like to be a member of the squads? >> it's an awesome opportunity. it's a big commitment for everyone. the dancers have rehearsal two times a week, three hours a night. plus there's 41 home games in a season. we're expecting 41 sold out home games. we're looking for the best of the best. you can manage it with our things. we have full-time workers and full-time students. it's a big commitment. >> what should people know? you have open auditions this weekend. other than that, it's a time commitment, you take it seriously. what else should you know? maybe i can go try out. >> right. we're looking for like i said the best of the best. super versatile dancers.

up to fourth of july. conditions outside, sunny. a few high clouds out there. temperatures that are really warming up. we're at 87 in philadelphia. a little cooler in the sub urz. mid to upper 80s for new jersey and delaware. by this afternoon, we're talking 90s for many locations. 91 in delaware. 92 in philadelphia. 90 in the suburbs. low 90s in new jersey. here is one issue. see the icons showing possibly spot thunderstorms over the suburbs and lehigh valley. it's not looking like this will be long lasting. but there's a possibility. we have a cold front to the north trying to sink into our area. as we go from our current time to the afternoon hours, about 4:00 p.m., you see this line trying to slice through the lehigh valley and berks county. more models that we look at to help us forecast are agreeing on this. i think this might be a little strong. there's no rain being produced with this front. we could see an isolated storm or spot shower develop over the

area. that tries to extend south. it weakens as it goes south. models are giving a little brief period of rain or isolated storm rolling over the i-95 corridor. better chance for stronger activity will be farther to the east. probably mercer county. we are including now that possibility of a spot shower around 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. before it dissolves overnight into tuesday morning mu. if you plan to go to the parade tomorrow, check this out. we're fine. we get to 4:00 p.m., in the southern zones, particularly delaware and cape may county, we may see a spot shower. it looks like most of this will stay south of the i-95 corridor and out of philadelphia for all the festivities going on throughout the day and on into the night. here we are at 10:00 p.m., it looks like a good fourth of july. philly pops tonight.

85 degrees 7:00, including the spot shower chance. if this continues to look like it's a potential as we get into the afternoon, there's a chance this may be taken indoors. 83 at 8:00. 9:00, 80 and winds are light. tomorrow, for wawa welcome america festivities, the parade, 10:00 a.m. and the parade beginning at 11:00. 78 degrees the temperature. we go to your concert time, 7:00, 82 degrees. looks nice and dry out there. then we get to the fireworks show at 9:30. scattered clouds, still dry. tomorrow for the fourth, things like extent if you are outside. it will be warm in the afternoon. now let's go through our planners for all of our neighborhoods on the fourth of july. i'm not going to the events in philadelphia. let's go to your neighborhood. start with philly, 85 at 3:00. we will see mid to upper 80s. in the suburbs, 83. increasing clouds in the afternoon. a dry outlook in the suburbs and same in the lehigh valley.
