happy independence day on this fourth of july. i'm richard lui. thanks for joining us. north korea launching another ballistic missile. the u.s. said it landed in tisha of japan. it could be the most successful yet and given the potential range to reach alaska, it sends another message to washington. president trump tweeting north korea just launched another missile. hard to believe japan will put up with this once and for all. perhaps china will end this once and for all. this isn't the first time north korea has tested missiles on the fourth of july. >> good morning. no, it isn't the first time they tested a missile on independence day. the last time was 2009 when they launched seven short missiles into the sea of japan. this latest test, the latest one

this year seems to be done for maximum political impact on the fourth of july just after president trump spoke with the leaders of japan and south korea about north korea ahead of a g20 meeting later this week. it was a land-based missile fired near the airfield and flew for 37 minutes before landing into the sea of japan. japanese officials say the missile may have landed in waters claimed by japan as its exclusive economic zone. the u.s. and south korea said it reached 1500 miles longer and higher than any other missile test previously reported and covered a distance of almost 600 miles. south korea said it was likely a test of a different missile. north korea saying this was an international ballistic missile, a claim being disputed by the

shut down as punishment for moscow's meddling in our election. an open question whether and how president trump will bring that up in his talk with putin. the president is already laying groundwork with conversations with france and germany, on the phone with their leaders, chancellor merkel saying they won't be easy given the president's positions on trade and climate and also calling japan and china this holiday weekend to focus on north korea signaling it will get tougher on them. and a different controversy a little boy named charlie gard in london has a rare terminal disease. this is parents want to take him to the u.s. for treatment. his doctors want to take him off life support. >> he's still fighting. still fighting. >> reporter: president trump tweeted the u.s. would be delight to help charlie if possible. his most recent tweet coming

ending. governor christie just signing a $37 billion budget into law after the state legislature came into agreement sending a budget to him without line item concerns for the majority. it ends the shuttering of historic beaches and sites just as residents look forward to celebrating the holiday, a move medicine made difficult for christie after pictures of he and his family. he is defending his decision while brushing off the controversy. >> i think i've proven over the last eight years i don't really care about political optics, i care about right and wrong. i think i've proven over the last eight years i have a choice to make between my family and political optics, i will pick my family. >> state parks and beaches and recreation areas are open to the public today. rocky forces close to fully
