you can hear it coming down hard in newark. people were doing what they could to avoid getting soaked outside this home depot this morning. xfinity fireworks show, could the wet weather have an effect on the game? >> yeah. there are showers in the forecast for this evening but no steady rain, nothing that would totally cancel the game at this point. we are seeing low clouds over philadelphia. you can see the tops of the buildings cut off by low clouds. we are already seeing some improvement. it was nasty 30 minutes ago as this line of showers and one thunderstorm continues to move through the philadelphia area within the last half hour.

atlantic city around 1:15 at the current speed. one of the problems is that this rain, some of it on the heavy side has actually fallen in on area that had flooding yesterday. we'll see how heavy it was. this is between middle town and townsend in delaware. it was brief. it was very fortunate. some places got 5 inches of rain yesterday from this. now this is headed towards smyrna. across south jersey it's moving there the areas east of the jersey turnpike. it is past philadelphia now. another batch near berlin. that will continue to move away. we have more coming in for this

the first lady can't get to the g-20 summit in germany. spouses typically get together while leaders are in meetings. breaking news out of our area. a septa train lit a work truck. this is a live look at the scene. the truck was just over the line when it was sideswiped. it happened within the last hour. nobody was hurt but it is causing delays. keep that in mind as your heading in and out of the city. let's get a quick check of the roads. >> we had a busy morning all together. not a lot of volume though. we are seeing slippery spots. it is right before fox street. within the last five minutes or so we had an overturned vehicle. you can see some of that residual delay.

police say a car struck and killed a pedestrian. it happened on the northbound side near route 206. right now investigators are trying to figure out what the person was doing walking on the hoich highway. police investigating the body found on the side of the road. stay with us here on the air and also on the nbc 10 app for breaking news updates. we are getting the first look in connection with a man charged are a baby overdosing. philadelphia police say welch has been charged with endangering the welfare of a

child. he lives with the nine month old girl. the baby rolled over and was pricked by the needle laced with drugs. they gave her a dose of narcan to revive her. they are invited the public to attend her funeral. this is video of mourners at saint pst. paul baptist church. >> i still can't wrap my head around it. it will take a little bit of time. >> the go fund me page set up to cover funeral costs for the victim in this case. the goal was $25,000 but the page raised more than $44,000. on sunday police arrested david desper who they say shot

and killed roberson. he fired the shot from his pickup truck as the two were trying to merge into the same lane during rush hour. police look for a man who -- the 39-year-old victim was found shot in the head. they tell us the victim still had his bawallet. they do not believe robbery was a motive. a victim was treat for a small cut and released from the hospital. detectives are questioning a suspect in this case. a couple of tourists in town ended their night out at the hospital. now police are hoping somebody will recognize the attackers in this surveillance video. the group beat up two tourists and stole their cell phones. no word on where the two men are

officers chased down broonds abdomen shand shot and killed him. his girlfriend called police and said he was acting ir ratically but he was harmless. they say he busuz -- was suadmi today a hospital for psychiatric but was released. a mom accused of killing her husband and kids was smiling and waving in court. she stabbed and killed her husband and four children earlier this week. a fifth child was also stabbed but is in the hospital recovering. a memorial stands in dallas in honor of the police officers killed one year ago. it was unvailed yesterday.

four police officers and one transit officer were ambushed and killed following a peaceful rally. a new jersey lawmaker wants to make sure we see nothing like this ever again. christie faced criticism when he was spotted outside the official beach house on island beach state park as the government shutdown closed the park to the public. governor christie made no apologies and says he was simply spending time with his family. it would ban any governor from using the beach house in the event of a shutdown. and speaking of new jersey, that's where we have the heaviest rain right now. you can see this line coming

through the state moving through the philadelphia area. it's moving and so the heavier rain is on the brief side. so at this rate of speed millville around 11:43. atlantic city around 12:50. it's got lightning with it, as you can see. it is moving through parts of camden county just on top of de deerfield right now. it is just about to hit bridgeton. it's a downpour that's coming in. it is not going to last all that long. you see the areas that are headed towards there. there's no way to get around it. you'll get heavy rains. it's not going to that's long. we are already drying out. there's one or two showers back to the west.

nothing like what came through. we have another line of showers and thunderstorms in western pennsylvania moving our way. that could potentially effect the area this evening. it's 72 in philadelphia right now with cloudy skies. close to that temperature across the area. lots of clouds. the water temperature though was up to 69 degrees. that's going to help the shore temperatures as we head into the weekend. any kind of sea breeze is not going to be effected as much. it is 78 in stone harbor. 73 in ocean city and 81 in mays landing. as we go in through this afternoon this one area moves out. we have some possible showers moving in. that's this evening. temperatures go way up into the 80s. there you can see if there is going to be any rain for the phillies game it would be relatively brief. i don't think it will cancel the

game and it may not even be a rain delay if this computer model is right where that area in western pennsylvania dies down before it gets here. here is saturday now. we are also going to warm up well into the 80s then there's the possibility of showers moving in. again, this computer model, this is just in. this is not showing a whole lot of activity for tonight or for tomorrow afternoon. you know, sunday is going to be beautiful. there's no doubt about that. so the forecast over the weekend, there's a chance of that afternoon shower tomorrow, but it's just a brief shower possible. a great majority of the day tomorrow will be dry. it will be hot up near 90 degrees. same story for most of the rest of the area. nobody gets any rain on sunday. hardly any clouds on sunday. so it's going to be a great day.

parts of our area this morning. here is a live look. you can see the shous move -- showers moving through the region. downpours came through philadelphia. conditions here are improving. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking it all for us. >> we have had the heaviest day of rain in the lehigh valley. it is already cloudy. there will be at least a brief shower coming through. as you can see, this line that moves through philadelphia and wilmington in the past hour and now is moving towards the shore getting towards here about 12:17. wildwood about 12:40. if you're one ahead to the beach

showers. it is weakening a little bit. if it continues eastward we hit redding around 5:00 and philly around 6:30. it will really push temperatures up. it is not that call already. it is 73 in newark and harmony hills and middletown is 73 also. we are already in the 80s in parts of southern delaware. it is an indication of warmer air down there. milton at 82 and look at the beaches. 83 here and 82 at dewy beach. temperatures, we took a dive here. by thursday a high was only 75

yesterday. we are going up to around 87 today and up near 90 degrees tomorrow. and sunday down a little bit. there is the remnants of the line coming off the shore. nothing more than a couple of isolated showers this afternoon with temperatures getting well into the 80s then possible showers coming in this evening. this is different computer model than i showed you a half hour ago. you don't have to cancel your plans just keep an eye to the sky and check out our apps so you can get the radar all weekend. so there's that brief shower on saturday near it 90 degrees. you can see it but it's less

likely at the jersey shore. on sunday nothing but sunshine. just a spectacular day. high temperatures in the mid-80s but very low humidity. it's going to be a gorgeous gorgeous day. now, at the beaches a pretty good weekend. warmer weather on saturday. we'll have a land breeze. it will be hot and then sunday the humidity really goes down. sunday a great day at the beaches too. same thing with wildwood. a slight chance of a shower and better chance of a shower in atlantic city the farther north you go a better chance. everybody getting a spectacular day on sunday. so as we go in through the weekend we are talk about less humidity on sunday. starting to heat up monday into tuesday. tuesday we start getting into another wet weather pattern.

we do track these things and over the weekend it will get a little closer to the bahamas and maybe eventually the u.s. as you can see, it's very weak during that period. that's not weak. that's a line of showers and thunderstorms coming through south jersey headed towards the shore. we have been timing it out for you all morning long. and then tomorrow we could see an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. that should be relatively brief. it sets us up for a gorgeous sunday with low humidity. and then monday another really nice day with low humidity but it's starting to get a little bit hotter. tuesday we are back into the heat but also when the storm of your weather pattern begins. between tuesday and thursday we may end up with a lot of rain again. we had an extremely dry summer
