shot and burned. shell casings pepper the philadelphia street where a man's charred body was found this morning. deadly crash on a parkway. police say a man on a motorcycle popping wheelies slammed into the back of a truck. and pipeline problems. a chester county mother tells us she's worried about how a pipeline project is impacting her family. >> nbc 10 news starts now. it sounds like something you'd see with -- one of those monster movies or something. that's crazy. >> a burned body found early this morning near a garbage processing plant in bridesburg and that's just the beginning of this mystery. good evening, i'm denise nakano. police tell us that man was also shot eight times and right now they're working to figure out exactly what happened to this

victim and who he is. nbc 10's drew smith is live in bridesburg tonight with more on this developing story. drew? >> reporter: denise, it was 5:00 this morning, workers were just arriving to the job site on the other side of that fence but it was here in this lot, see the evidence markers, that marks the spot where this man was shot, set on fire and dumped here on the pavement. an industrial section of bridesburg became a crime scene early saturday. you see workers in vests speaking with police after they ran over to put out a fire which turned out to be a man's body. shot up to eight times, doused in accelerant, and set on fire. >> that's absolutely crazy. >> reporter: the quick way transfer station closed at noon. its manager did not want to comment, but another worker told me the whole thing is disturbing. witnesses saw a sedan driving off from the scene, but didn't get a good look at who was inside. >> i never seen nobody, the only thing i ever see is the dump truck -- the trash trucks going back there, that's it. >> reporter: mike uses the dead

end of headley street as a cut-through on his way to work. >> yeah, i'm going to have to keep my eye open better now. >> reporter: police do not know why someone decided to kill the man but the brutal l way they did it leaves little doubt this was planned ahead of time. >> that's just sending a message to somebody or something, wow, that's crazy. >> reporter: we're told police found a pennsylvania i.d. right next to the body, but they're not sure if it's him or not. they're working on sorting that out right now. the body is at the medical examin examiner's office. police do not have any suspects. live in bridesburg, drew smith, nbc 10 news. >> thank you, drew. tonight one man is dead after crashing his motorcycle on the ben franklin parkway. police say it happened just after 3:00 near 17th street. the 27-year-old crashed into the back of a truck and police say he was doing wheelies at the time of that accident. he was taken to the hospital and died a short time later. in south jersey, two people were seriously hurt when their car crashed into a telephone pole in pennsauken early this

morning. it happened just before 5:00 this morning on route 130. police say the car lost control with such impact that it snapped a telephone pole in half. s philadelphia police are looking for the person who shot two teenagers and a man in strawberry mansion overnight. someone dropped the victims off at temple university hospital, but did not stick around. police say the shooting happened around 12:30 near 31st and burke street. police in delaware are looking for a man they say inappropriately touched a woman in glassell park. authorities say the man on a bike approached the woman from behind and then touched her backside. the victim was not hurt, the man then took off. and take a look at this. we have new pictures tonight of a crash involving a septa train and a truck in montgomery county. the regional rail train hit the truck in cheltenham yesterday. you can see the truck was on the tracks when it was sideswiped by the train. no one was in the truck when it was hit.

right now, president trump is on his way home from the g20 summit in germany. the president wrapped up his trip after a long day of meetings with various leaders including the chinese president and japanese prime minister. well, two u.s. bomber planeses flew over the korean peninsula today. it was part of a precision strike training. this comes in response to north korea's test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile. u.s. analysts say this type of missile l could potentially reach the u.s. and alaska. well, a first alert traffic warning for drivers in university city. crews started working this morning on a construction project near the university of pennsylvania hospital. and you can see the trucks rolling in. workers will be pouring concrete for 30 straight hours on civic center boulevard. the more than 7,100 cubic yards is enough to fill a goodyear blimp. the project will wrap up sometime early tomorrow. well, more than 100 principals from around the

nation helped build a playground in upper darby today. the play structure at stonehurst hills elm rentry schools will he overhead ladders, bridges and balancing activities. this is the ninth year the principals partnered with landscape structures to donate and build a playground at a deserving school. west philadelphia businessman is hoping to use water ice to bring change to his neighborhood. after two years of planning, siddiq's real fruit water ice open owened its flagship store on 60th street today. it's an area that struggles with crime. last january, officer jesse heartnet was ambushed in a shooting a few feet from the store. owner siddiq moore hopes entrepreneurship will reduce crime. turning to the first alert forecast. a great day for a ball game. right now the phillies are playing at home. and taking a live look down the shore, we saw a lot of people cooling off in the water today in ocean city. they're still out there. the sun's out and shining.

savannah where he's filming a new movie. he was also charged with d disorderly conduct and obstructions. lebeouf was released after posting a $7,000 bond. we're following a developing story out of wednesday vavenezu country's most well-known political prisoner is now out of prison. leopoldo lopez was transferred to house arrest today. he was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2015 for inciting violent protests. the white house praised the move today but said his house arrest is still unacceptable. well, turtles on the tarmac delay flights at a busy new york airport. about 40 diamondback paripins crawled out of jamaica bay and onto the airfield at jfk last night. port authority wildlife specialists rounded up those turtles. this is the time of year turtles do migrate. what is in our water? we have no idea. >> pipeline problems. local families concerned about what's in the water.

right now, pennsylvania lawmakers are working on a saturday trying to figure out how to pay for the budget. one idea is to use, expand big gambling and that would save you from paying more taxes to pay for the state spending. governor tom wolf has until midnight monday to reach a decision. a new jersey governor chris christie used state-owned helicopters, nearly 100 times in the past 2 years. it costs more than $2,400 an hour to fly the choppers, meaning governor christie's trips add up to about a half million dollars. but his use does not come close to comparing to his predecessors. former governor jim mcgreevey

used the helicopter more than 250 times in the first year in office. jim florio moved it more than 2,300 times in his 4-year term. chester county residents fear their water is contaminated because of construction of a natural gas pipeline. sunoco suspended work on the project this week after residents complained about murky water and losing water pressure. the pipeline being built by sunoco starts in western pennsylvania and crosses through chester county ending in marcus hook, delaware county. nbc 10's aundrea cline-thomas joins us live in exton where it continues today. >> reporter: you see the heavy machinery behind me. if we zoom out, i want to show you where the pipeline is being constructed, smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood surrounded by homes. the issues with the water reignites concerns residents have had about this project for years. sunoco is repurposing the pipeline to carry natural gas

like ethane and propane from ohio and pittsburgh to a processing facility in marcus hook, delaware county. residents like valerie and her neighbors, the pipeline construction project is right in their backyard. on monday, 12 households in the area lost water or reported having murky water. as a result, construction was suspended, but it resumed today. valerie is checking her water every day. her concern is not just about the construction, but what could literally come down the line. >> my biggest fear is there will be a leak and it will be undetected for a certain amount of time and then it will be too late. for the whole community. >> reporter: as for the water issue, sunoco is waiting for test results to see if there is any contamination. in a statement the company says it is working with affected residents, that includes restoring water to those who lost it and providing bottled water, filtration systems or hotel accommodations. now, while residents on this side were not affected in

it depends on where you live, right? >> that's right. neighborhood forecast, that's what we're seeing for this afternoon. this evening. the good news is, really scattered at best and everything is drying out. in fact, here's our satellite and radar image, denise. looks good because i'll tell you, it could have been worse. earlier models did show or hint at heavier downpours. now we're just seeing rain showers moving across the area from west to east. chester county, you'll be seeing isolated showers. for the most part, we're seeing conditions drying out. hour-by-hour forecast starting this at 6:00 p.m., one pause point, all we're going to see. at 8:00 p.m., spotty greens here. it means everything really is drying out. so i really don't expect much more of those showers. by 11:30 p.m., all we're seeing is really mostly clear skies. for tonight. current temperature in philadelphia, 86 degrees. winds right now are west-southwesterly. at 17 miles per hour. across the delaware valley, conditions are actually really nice as far as temperatures go. allentown, current temperature 78 degrees. coatesville, 81. mt. holly at 84.

vineland, trenton at 83 degrees. nice and warm at the beach, hello, atlantic city, current temperature for you, 86 degrees. so a nice evening in the forecast. as far as those temps two. neighborhood high temperatures for tomorrow, we're going to see lots of 80s across the area. notice we're seeing bethlehem at 83 degrees. mix of sun and clouds. i'm going to favor mostly sunny to sunny clouds. but sometimes we do pick up a little bit of moisture. easton, expected high temperature, 82 for you. reading also seeing low 830s. p.a. suburbs, low 80s for the most part. notice newtown, a couple clouds. 85 is your expected high temperature. overnight lows mainly in the upper 50s to 60s. mt. airy, your expected high temperature for tomorrow, 83 degrees. so a great day all around. my favorite is that we're going to see lots of sunshine, low dew points, so not very muggy at all. 86 for fairmount and byberry, expected high temperature 86 degrees for you. new jersey, 83. that's your expected high. overnight lows in the low 60s.

so overall, the day will be very comfortable. fantastic. haddonfield, 85. glassboro, mid 80s. jersey shore seeing low 80s for aval avalon. we'll take it. a few clouds, if any. galloway, 85 for you. atlantic city, expected high temperature, 81 degrees. possibly a few more clouds across atlantic city. delaware, you're seeing lots of 80s as well. notice a trend for tomorrow, a little cooler. today we topped out at 87 in philadelphia. a few degrees cooler for tomorrow. i think you will like this because especially by tuesday, looks like we will trend a lot hotter. the expected high for tomorrow, philadelphia is 86 degrees. 88 on monday. 94 on tuesday. and 91 on wednesday. i stayed with 88 on thursday, but we very well could see 90s, so possibly tracking a heatwave there. we could see a round of showers late monday into tuesday. possibly isolated thunderstorms here. so keep that in hind. keep the umbrellas handy. a seesaw for the next several days. thursday we could see isolated showers and thunderstorms.

lavar ball, the father of lakers rookie lonzo ball who criticized embiid and the sixers on a couple of occasions over the past two weeks. you get the feeling embiid probably won't be the only player to share some true feelings on lavar ball this season. markelle fultz has two games under his belt for the utah summer league and he's put on quite a display. fultz was asked about some of the differences he's noticing in nba level competition during the summer league, and the biggest is defending the ball. >> i feel like now i can go block shots, as i do sometimes. a matter of being locked in and not letting my defender get by me. maybe i was able to do it in high school. here they're going to be able to finish more. not even that, just making my team -- it's just a matter of being there for my teammates more. scoring, i know i'm not going to do it the full game, but that's my goal. the phillies have not lost a season series to the san diego padres since 2006. a loss today at the ballpark
