disappearance of four young men. police haven't said if they're connected at all. the men all vanished within days of each other. a search has been happening where pamela osborne has spent the monrning. >> reporter: i spoke to the father of one missing man. he told me his son's car was found over the weekend. there was no sign of mark. he is one of four missing men that police are searching for. this morning, we saw police cruiser in front of a garage. there was yellow crime scene tape there. police from several departments searched the general area last night. they are searching for teens seen on wednesday and another teen, who was last seen friday ea evening, the same even that

mark's father saw him last. he was supposed to be going to meet his friends. both men have not been seen. police have put us in the media staging area right off of route 202. i have reached out to them by phone and e-mail. we know we are expecting and update from them any minute now. as soon as we get that information, we will pass it along to you. i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. we're in for a warm day throughout our area. you will feel the humidity later on today. a live look at oes scean city. it's going to be steamy and stormy as the week goes on. glenn schwartz is here with the forecast. >> it's a southerly wind.

it's warming us up. it's really going to get hot starting as early as tomorrow. this is going to be a great place to escape the heat. this is cape may. pretty good crowd for this time of the morning during the week. we have a couple of showers on the radar, mainly down in delaware. the rest of the area is nice and quiet. we will be waiting to the west for showers to come in for tomorrow. as we go into the afternoon, we find the isolated showers moving past. most of us will not be hit by this. they are small. they are fast moving. then we dry out during the night tonight. the humidity is going up. as we go into tomorrow, we have heat and humidity. it's 82 degrees in philadelphia. 83 in dover. it's warming up already.

just wait until tomorrow. we're talking about 94 degrees for high temperature. then a potential heat wave. this afternoon, more comfortable going into the mid to upper 80s. most folks not seeing any rain during the day today. of course, that is going to change. we will have the hour by hour on when those storms are going to hit coming up. 18 members of a penn state fraternity facing charges in the hazing death of a student are back in court. t timothy piazza died in february. we have the latest on the case against the frat members. >> reporter: this morning, former penn state fraternity brothers are heading back to court to find out whether they are going to trial. >> do you have anything to say? >> reporter: 18 are charged in the brutal hazing death of 19-year-old tim piazza. his devastated parents plan to be in the courtroom again.

>> they hope that the death of their son is not in vain and that the death of their son will encourage change. >> reporter: during the first part of the hearing last month, prosecutors played surveillance video of piazza drunk falling head first repeatedly head first inside the fraternity house in february. >> we have a friend unconscious. >> reporter: it took 12 hours for someone to call 911. >> that is what made the difference. >> yes. >> they killed him. >> reporter: his parents furious at what they call the inappropriate behavior of the defendants in court in june, likening it to a fraternity gettogether. >> lapping each other's back, laughing, kidding and joking. that was distressing to the piazzas. >> reporter: the charges range from evidence tampering to involuntary manslaughter. >> they didn't participate in

some type of back slapping. >> reporter: luke is accused of aggravated assault. >> with regard to the charges against my client, they are both factually and legally unfounded, unjustified and unwarranted. >> reporter: the defendants have pleaded not guilty several of the attorneys saying there is more of the story yet to be told. they plan to cross-examine the prosecution's witnesses as this hearing. it's expected to last through at least tomorrow. investigators are looking for the cause of a fire at a railroad yard in south philadelphia. nbc so was at the csx yard on columbus boulevard where fire broke out inside a tractor-trailer. this happened around midnight. flames spread before crews arrived and put them out. no one was hurt. burlington county prosecutors are trying to figure out what happened during a

deadly home invasion. the home oern caowner called po. he told police that he stabbed them in self-defense. the family identified the man killed as jimmy doyle. they gathered at a vigil for him and painted a picture of a man who loved his family and had lots of friends. >> he never done anything like that before. i don't think that would have been his intentions. >> no charges have been filed. the man who had been stabbed in the leg showed up at the hospital yesterday. detectives are trying to determine if he and the other person are connected to the case. a group of children are okay after witnessing a shooting a few feet from where they were swimming in an inflatable pool. they were playing in the pool yesterday. someone shot a man riding a bike down the street from them. police man to the hospital.

police in new castle are trying to figure out what cause aid driver to cash into this animal shelter. 33-year-old la toya cooper was killed. employees at the spca switched into crisis mode. several cats died. some of the animals are in the west chester location. they are hoping in a surge in adoptions. >> everyone started moving into the mode of saving the animals. neighbors came out and were welcoming the animals into their vehicles. into their homes. we had first responders putting dogs into ambulances. >> members of cooper's family joined in an emotional prayer at the shelter yesterday. she was a mother of five. the clock is ticking for the governor of pennsylvania. tom wolf has under midnight to decide whether to sign, to veto or allow a state spending bill to lapse into law. the house and senate are trying find a way to pay for the spending plan that they passed

last week. they hope to raise more than $2 billion in new revenue. options for bringing in money include gambling laws, borrowing more than a billion dollars and a possible tax increase. time for a check on the roads. looking at route 42. >> we are watching an accident, it's on the southbound side of the 42 freeway. behind that sign over here. this is around creek road. coming off of where the bridge is or where you are heading towards camden. from that direction, heading down the shore, you can see volume heading down the southbound side. right now, fortunately, we have it it into the left-hand shoulder. i did see a vehicle here earlier. they might have had to stop traffic to get it over there. we are seeing residual delay. delays on the schuylkill. this is because we have construction work. two lanes lost. one getting by on this westbound side around vare avenue. we are seeing delay moving through the city.

watching 422, there's construction on the eastbound side. the route to 23 is closed. we are doing great from 29 to the schuylkill. watch for lane closures. if you want, you can take the betsy ross bridge, that's the closest to get you by the fastest. what's being called a summer of hell is here. amtrak kicked off emergency track work for rails heading in and out of penn station. more than 1300 trains travel in that station's 21 tracks each day. it's the nation's busiest rail hub. the $40 million repair project is set to wrap up by september 1. the repairs will focus on derailments like the one that happened thursday night. the train with nearly 200 people aboard jumped the tracks in a tunnel beneath the hudson river. it was moving at a slow speed. no one was hurt. starting today, septa will change the way it collects

congress returns from its july fourth recess to fine the health care issue is topping the agenda. it's the measure that repeals and replaces the affordable care act. over the break, mitch mcconnell admitted he might not get enough votes to pass the bill. outside senators' offices on capitol hill and in their home states. a vote is at least two weeks away. this morning the president tweeted, i cannot imagine congress would dare to leave washington without a beautiful new health care bill fully approved and ready to go. happening now, delaware

senator tom copparper is meetin with patient advocates. he is opposed to the republican health care bill. he said it would impact seniors, veterans, lower income families and those dealing with opioid addiction. russia said the kremlin did not know about a meeting between donald trump junior and a reason sh russian lawyer during the campaign last year. trace y potts has more. >> reporter: the trump team is down playing a report about a recently disclosed meeting between the president's son, don junior, his son-in-law jared kushner, paul manafort and this russian lawyer last summer after she promised damaging information on hillary clinton and the democrats. he tweets this morning, obviously i'm the first person on the campaign to ever take a meeting to hear info about an opponent went nowhere but had to listen. the president's legal team adds,

the president was not aware. the kremlin says russia was unaware. no word if fbi special investigator robert mueller will want to know more. >> it will force mueller's investigators to now go and dig into this. they will want to talk to everyone that was in the room. >> tremendous meeting yesterday. with president putin. >> reporter: the president tweets, i pressed president putin twice about russian meddling in our election. he denied it. now president trump says he wants to partner with putin to set up a cyber security unit to prevent election hacking. >> it's not the dumbest idea i have heard but it's close. >> it's the russian bear guarding the american honey. >> the fact that president putin and i discussed the cyber security unit doesn't mean i think it can happen. it can't. but a cease-fire can and did. he is talking about a cease-fire in syria.

the last one lasted six weeks, before that, eight days. we had a spectacular day yesterday. today, more clouds, a couple of showers around. by tomorrow, it's really going to be steamy. 82, that south wind bringing up the humidity. we're in the 70s to near 80 across the rest of the area. fair amount of sunshine. a little more clouds in some parts of the area than others. at the jersey shore, the ocean temperature, 70 degrees, which is not too bad. the wind not strong enough to knock the temperature down yet at ocean city, close to 80. summers point at 81. cape may point is at 79 degrees. looks like we may have a heat wave this week starting tomorrow. tomorrow is definitely into the

90s. the humidity going up fast tonight. it's going to stay high for much of the rest of the week. for thunderstorms, the threat starts tomorrow afternoon and continues for a good bit of the week. today is the exception to the way the week is going to shape up. you can see these isolated showers in delaware. it moved into kent county. unfortunately, this is the area that got hit so hard with rain last week. some places have four to six inches. this looks like it's headed up towards smyrna and then continuing into new jersey. this is the main area of showers and storms coming across the great lakes. that's going to be affecting us as we go into tomorrow afternoon. here is the futurecast as we go through the rest of the day. we see some of the showers scatter around during the afternoon as temperatures stay shy of the 90 degree mark in most of the area.

by 6:00, the showers are pretty much gone. the humidity is going up as we wait for the next round. that comes in tomorrow. could even see some showers early. but it's mostly later during the day. you can see temperatures into the 90s. here comes showers and thunderstorms scattered around. we have another shot of that coming on wednesday. here is the feels like temperatures. this starting tomorrow. around noontime, it's feeling like 90 and going up into the 90s, perhaps mid 90s by tomorrow afternoon. then on wednesday, we're going to have another day, as you can see, some of the numbers into the mid 90s and perhaps going even a little bit higher than that. that is some really hot weather. over the next four days,ne day 0

these showers that we are showing you at kent county in delaware, they are there. coming into the spmyrna area. the rest of the area is plenty dry. there are the showers at 1:00. just isolated ones during the afternoon. then we dry out again tonight. later tonight, as the humidity is increasing and a disturbance moves in, we could see showers. it's 77 in atlanta city, 82 inland. the sea breeze is starting to take affect. it's 83 in dover and northeast philly. those are the warm spots. a lot of the spots are going to be in the 90s as early as tomorrow. maybe not just low 90s. this afternoon, we have some increased clouds, isolated

showers across the area. most of us don't get rained on. then tonight, the temperatures stay up because the humidity is up as well. more on the storms and potential heat wave coming up. >> thank you. the battle for mosul is almost over. iraqi forces are pushing to retake the last patch of ground where isis militants are holding on to the tiny sliver of the city. >> reporter: in a clear sign that iraqi forces have all but retaken mosul, the prime minister is in mosul and is celebrating with troops after they drove isis militants for most of their last strong hold. the fighting continues. iraqi forces are pushing to retake the last patch of ground where isis are holding on to a tiny portion of the old city. a senior iraqi general says his men closely backed by u.s.-led coalition air strikes are

continuing to advance and clear territory in the old city. iraqi commanders say they believe hundreds of isis fighters remain inside the neighborhood and are using their families, including women and children, as human shields. the fight appears to be in the dieing stages of a bitter battle that has ranged on for nearly nine months. the iraqi prime minister calling it a big victory. the campaign is proved to be an important boost of morale to the iraqi people after a very badly damaged mosul effectively fell into the hands of isis which was iraq's second largest city. some iseyisis cells will have t flushed out and the city faces an expensive and massive reconstruction. secretary of state rex tillerson is in turkey trying to mend fences with the u.s. ally. he says he knows relations are strained right now.

is hopeful of improving tillerson spoke after a number of meetings with turkey's president. turkey is a key supporter in the fight against isis. a new york state trooper is dead and authorities say a u.s. soldier killed him. police say the trooper was sp violence call in northern new york. as he approached the home, he was shot. officers say the active duty army infantry man killed his wife and shot another woman inside the house. she's expected to survive. the suspect surrendered to troopers. a massive fire broke out at lond london's camden market. more than 70 firefighters battled the flames. it's not clear yet if there are any injuries. the cause of the fire and extent of the damage isn't know. two people are nursing wounds after running of the bulls in spain. today's run was one of the fastest so far at two minutes and 19 seconds.

hundreds of people take part in the nine-day festival. trying to make it through the streets without getting gored. so far, four americans and a spaniard have been gored since friday. new this morning, a reason to avoid sugary drinks if you are pregnant. it may be a way to help your child obesity. a study looked at more than 1,000 mothers and their children. children whose mothers drank more sugary beverages during their second trimester had higher amounts of body fat when they reached 7 or 8. a fetus' metabolism developing in response to the mother's diet. scientists say an alien inspect is attacking our trees. this beatle is an emerald ash bore. it's from asia. it has been in the u.s. since the early 2000s. over the last few years, it invaded delaware valley, eating its way through ash trees. they lay bugs under the bark.

>> we appreciate it. >> thank you so much. after that unusually comfortable sunday, we are transitioning into the heat and humidity that we're going to feel tomorrow. 82 right now in philadelphia. that southerly wind will increase the humidity. temperatures only in the upper 70s in some parts of the area at this hour. as we go into delaware, we find they are in the 80s. 80 degrees in newark and middletown. 83 in marshalton, normally one of the warm spots. it still is. it's warm in lewis, delaware. it's cooler in are a hrehoboth . a little bit off the water. the delaware bay buoy is 75 degrees, which is warm.

the southerly flow, you can see that here pretty clearly. that means the humidity is going up. the temperature will be going up, too. 83 yesterday for the high. 87 today. 94 tomorrow. that will probably by the hottest day of the week. it may get more humid later on during the week. we also have the threat of showers and thunderstorms. there's some isolated showers now. one in kent county in delaware just coming across dover and smyrna getting rain out of this. not nearly as heavy as the stuff that they got hit with late last week. that's for sure. you can see the bigger area of showers and storms coming into ohio. that's a pretty nasty stuff. that's what we are going to be tracking for the next couple of days. here is the latest hour by hour. things generally weakening during the afternoon.

some isolated showers. as we head toward late afternoon rush, things are really drying up out here. there's not much around during the evening. later tonight, some possible showers. that's toward the middle of the night. then into tomorrow, the story for much of the day is going to be the heat. even by noontime or so, it's going to be feeling like it's near 90 degrees. by 5:00, 95 feeling like 96 degrees, 97 in dover. then as we go into wednesday, starting off kind of warm. feeling like the upper 70s. by noon, we are feeling like the 90s again. here we go. 5:00, 97 feels like in philly. 98 in wilmington. some relief from the -- at the shore.
