really high on the scale, but it does exist tomorrow. we do expect thunderstorms tomorrow. and with the heat and humidity there is certainly a good chance that they will be strong. we have very little on radar right now. we have to go back to ohio and western pennsylvania to find any significant storms. there is another batch coming down in michigan. here is the hour by hour. nothing much going on tonight. a couple of light showers. during the day tomorrow, not in the morning, but in the afternoon as we heat up well into the 90s, perhaps mid 90s with high humidity here we go with the thunderstorms. any one of these, you see the balls of red capable of producing hail, gusty winds and wind damage. here is 5:30 tomorrow afternoon during rush hour. not everybody is getting it, but there will likely be some severe

storms in the area. here is 8:00 and then 10:00 things quiet down completely across the area. so it's a limited risk for tomorrow at least. for tonight it's a pretty nice night overall. just isolated showers. we'll be back to talk about further threats and hotter weather coming up. text messages and google searches center stage at the case of a deadly hazing incident at penn state. >> 18 fraternity members are charged in the death of a 19-year-old pledge. >> prosecutors began by revealing text messages sent by some of the 18 accused. the suspect arrived this morning for the second hearing being held at a court near penn state's campus. some suspects are accused of involuntary manslaughter. others face less serious charges all related to the death inside the now shuttered house.

he died after a night of drinking and several falls including twice down a flight of stairs. prosecutors say members of the frat waited nearly 12 hours to call 911 even though they knew he was severely injured. today presented several text messages they say was sent. one read make sure the pledges clean the basement and get rid of any evidence of alcohol. another said make sure pledges keep quiet about last night and this situation. prosecutors presented a google search made by one brother. the search, how will nine drinks in an hour effect a 200-pound guy. the hearing is expected to last until the judge decides if there is enough evidence to send the case to trial. tragedy at the marina terminal. a cargo container fell on to a car and killed the man inside. the accident happened in south

philadelphia. sky force 10 shot video of firefighters trying to help the person inside the truck but it was too late. a community will come together to remember a woman killed in a fiery crash at a delaware animal shelter. latoya cooper died after driving her minivan into the spca. the crash sparked a fire. a memorial service will be held tonight at 5:30. the clock is ticking for the governor tom wolf as the pennsylvania budget battle continues. wolf has until midnight to decide whether to sign, veto or allow a state spending bill to lapse into law. the house and senate working to find a way. they hope to raise more than $2 million in new revenue. chris christie's approval rating remains at an all time

low. a poll found 80% of voters disapprove of the job and approval rating is at 15%. numbers virtually the same as the poll last month. of the 800 people surveyed 86% say they saw photos of christie on the beach and when asked for a word to describe how they felt residents said they were disgusted, angry, outraged. to the new controversy surrounding president trump's oldest son. >> the health care battle is heating up again. nbc 10's keith jones is following it all. >> nbc news learned donald trump jr. hired a lawyer to represent him in connection to the russian probe. this just in after trump jr. is acknowledging that he met with a russian lawyer who claimed to have information on hillary clinton during last year's campaign. trump jr. took to twitter quote

saying i cannot imagine that congress would dare to leave washington without a beautiful new health care bill fully approved and ready to go. republicans health care plan is universally opposed by democrats and it is struggling to win support from within the gop. the plan would effectively repeal obamacare while cutting hundreds of billions of dollars from medicaid. protesters rallied outside the offices of several republican offices in washington today in an effort to stop the gop health care bill from passing. it's estimated that at least 22 million more people would become uninsured under the republican legislation. among those in washington is a pennsylvania woman who brought her two children to the capitol. >> we want them to put faces to the numbers that they talk about. these are real children with real health issues that will be severely effected if the bill is passed. >> police took several people

into custody. at least ten republican senators expressed opposition to the bill. keith jones, nbc 10 news. trouble if you are riding the rails into new york city. new schedules took effect today for new jersey transit so crews can make repairs at penn station. the new schedules will last until september 1. nj transit says customers should follow them on social media to receive alerts. amtrak will experience summer delays. the crews will be repairing amtrak's tracks and signals after two recent derailments put the spot light on pen station's aging infrastructure. changes are in effect for septa riders. the transit agency changed how it collects tickets starting today. the new system effects week day afternoon and evening riders. here is what is new. you will get your ticket punched

at the stairways to the platforms. you will get your ticket back to give to the conductor aboard the train. we are still waiting for new information about a deadly home invasion in morris town. the homeowner called police and said two men broke into his home on hartford drive. he says he stabbed them both in self defense. one suspect died. no charges have been filed against the homeowner but the burlington county prosecutor says officers are still investigating. traffic is moving again along route 130. a tractor-trailer toppled. the truck ended up going over the median so clearing it took a while. all lanes of route 130 were closed. a u.s. soldier is accused of killing his wife and a new york state trooper. trooper arrived at the soldier's home last night. he was shot and killed. the suspect then surrendered. he is an active army

infantryman. and a call left several state troopers and first responders in the hospital exposed to some type of substance. a total of six people got six. state police got a call for domestic dispute at that home. investigators don't know exactly what made the first responders sick. drowning is the second leading cause of death of kids between the ages of 5 and 14. this week more than 100 kids are attending a camp in north philly to learn about water safety. the caring people alliance will teach the kids to swim and give hands on experience with first responders. the goal is to bring this camp to community centers and boys and girls clubs across the country. parents are keeping a closer eye on their children after a pair of drownings at the jersey shore. ted greenberg found out what you can do to try to prevend these

education. cape may is 17th in economics. 15th in health. 21st and last in safety and 12th in education. cumberland county rankz 20th in economics, 18th in health, 18th in safety and 21st in education. student loans can leave you with severe debt. that's why the university of delaware is testing out a new program. starting in fall half students will be required to take extra counseling sessions anytime they borrow more money. the university is one of about 50 schools doing the same thing to see if it helps. a state of emergency in effect in northern california because of a wildfire burning in that region. the so-called wildfire has

burned 600 acres. thousands of people are under a mandatory evacuation because the fire is threatening so many structu structures. for the second time in less than four weeks a massive fire broke out in london. nearly 70 firefighters called shortly after midnight. that market is a popular tourist destination. no injuries reported. it was a different story in west london when at least 80 people were killed in a high rise apartment building fire there. want you to take a look at severe weather video from florida. >> a woman jolted by a lightning strike caught on camera. she goes running once it happens. she is taken to the hospital. she is expected to be okay. the same cannot be said for the concrete pole it hit. the damage more visible. we could see lightning, damaging winds and heavy rain with the severe storms heading our way tomorrow. first alert radar showing storms

in ohio. we are getting you ready with a first alert. >> it is all heading our way. how fast? what is the timing on this? >> we are not talking about any kind of threats for overnight tonight or into tomorrow morning. this first alert is for much of the area except for the beaches for 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. it's a six-hour window. after that the storms will die down. before that the storms may not even have developed. this is for localized wind damage, brief down pours, possibly hail, as well. at the same time it will feel like 95 to 100. the heat and humidity helping to fuel the storms. we don't have storms today. we have one shower going into north jersey. the rest of the area is pretty dry but in the western portions of pennsylvania we are already getting severe thunderstorm warnings with this line of

storms. we have another one back in ohio. we have other activity out in michigan and this entire area has that warm southwest flow that is bringing in hotter and more humid air. at the same time you can see the spin over chicago as the area of low pressure going to help trigger those storms. hour by hour we go through the night tonight. nothing more than a brief shower mainly to the north. tomorrow morning it is dry and then the storms start to build tomorrow afternoon. we're not talking about everybody getting hit but if you do get hit by one of the storms it is capable of producing some of the damage. you can see storms down by washington, d.c. here is the afternoon rush across philadelphia and there is even purple in here. that would be a very intense cell. another one near trenton. another one down in delaware.

you can see they are scattered across the area. it's not widespread. as we go towards later in the evening by 10:00 it is just about all passed. that is not the only nasty weather that is coming this week. we also have heat to contend with. >> we sure do. we will get a couple of rounds in the storms and the heat. the first round of heat will be coming at us tomorrow. let's look at your feels like forecast. this gives you an idea of what it will feel like. today between nice and uncomfortable. the humidity on the rise. tomorrow we will stick it right up to oppressive. we will see the feels like temperature somewhere around 95 to 100. we will dial it back a little bit for wednesday. then we take it up here between oppressive and dangerous on thursday. let's go ahead and break down where we are right now. temperatures are seasonal. they are in the 340imid 80s. 86 in trenton.

84 in vineland. 84 in wilmington. dover at 86. tonight will be a warm and muggy night. you know when you have overnight lows in the low and mid 70s across the area that things are going to be uncomfortable the next day. it is basically going to be 73 in philadelphia tonight, 72 in wilmington. mount poconos about the most refreshing around. that is at 63 degrees. so let me take you through the feels like. this is what you are going to be dealing with. right now we have a feels like that isn't too bad. by tomorrow look at this in the afternoon the feels like climbs to 95. this is just one forecast model. some have it between a95 and 10. let's go to wednesday. the feels like is a little bit less. we will have a feels like in the lower 90s. it's thursday we are concerned about. thursday that feels like is going to be at 100 or bcabove.

shore areas and beach areas have lowest chance of getting severe storms by later tomorrow. the sea breeze is one of the reasons that keep the heaviest stuff inland. this is the first alert for tomorrow 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. that crosses about the entire area. a lot of lightning and, of course, some hail. and we measure this in the form of a threat with just estimating relative dangers here. tomorrow the biggest threats are damaging wind and lightning. still not near the top of the scale. there is some hail threat. there is some flash flood threat because the storms are not moving very much and there is a lot of moisture with these storms in the area. nothing in the area right now. that's for sure. things are nice and quiet. storms in western pennsylvania, that's not what is going to get us tomorrow afternoon. the remnants of this could bring

if you haven't seen this video from wimbledon take a look. >> a man gets into a tug of war with a teenager and take as towel. now the teenager did finally get to meet the tennis player this weekend. >> and we caught up with the teenager who did return home with a lot more than a towel. >> reporter: we talk to peter and his mom. he told us having that towel ripped out of his hands was heartbreaking. what happened next gives him a story to tell. this is video that caused a stir. >> and he threw it right in my direction. >> reporter: tosses his towel to the second row. the man in front of him grabs ahold of it. >> he was a larger man.
