cosmo dinardo's defense team who walked out and made this big announcement that cosmo dinardo has confessed to the killings of the four missing men saying he either took part in committing those four murders. also agreeing to some sort of plea deal they would not seek the death penalty because of this confession. now cosmo dinardo has been in jail for the past day or so. according to his attorney, this confession means that the death penalty is off the table. we also asked his attorneys whether he may have had any help in committing these crimes or covering it up. at this point they had no comment on that referring us to law enforcement. all of this comes less than 24 hours after the district attorney revealed for the first time they had discovered human e remains on the family property. take a listen. we just spoke with his defense team a few minutes ago. >> cosmo dinardo gave a full confession to the district attorney. that full confession was so much

gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. >> staying with this major story, e we want to turn to deanna durante, who has been following this case for days now. what's the latest from your location where that digging has been going on? >> reporter: investigators are still out here, but we have been working our sources trying to find out more ab the confession and what happened inside that room. we can tell you that defense attorneys and prosecutors were in that room with cosmo dinardo and his parents for most of the day. and those negotiations wrapped up around 2:00 this afternoon. we can tell you that a source very close to those negotiations says three bodies were discovered here on the farm property and that they were still looking for another one. and part of the plea deal is giving up the location of where that fourth person may be in this case. we're also told that avoiding the death penalty for cosmo dinardo was a priority here for the defense team. there was some talk earlier about grand jury proceedings.
6:04 pm
sources say the parents did not testify in front of a grand jury. instead most of the work being done giving that information to investigators that they needed so they could provide closure to the four families involved here. that's the very latest. but investigators will be continuing to work out here on this farm as they continue to dig for evidence. but we know that that confession has been given and was wrapped up by 2:00 this afternoon. reporting live, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. >> significant developments, the nbc 10 digital team has been bringing you updates through the l story 24 hours a day on our free app. we have an interactive map time line of the key events and people of the story. it's on the nbc 10 app right now. and now to our weather. you can see on the radar the storms coming through. e we had a tornado warning and now a thunderstorm warning in effect. >> let's get right to meteorologist glenn schwartz. where are the storms right now and severe? >> they continue to be generally
6:05 pm
north of philadelphia itself, but they are getting a little closer and starting to come a little bit into chester county, the northern portion of chester county and northern half of montgomery and all of bucks county right now. it's moving a little bit west to east, but it's also drifting southward. and in a way that's good. so that will take the heavy rain away from falling on the same spot over and over and over again. so this is not the storm that they were concerned about for the tornado warning for reading, but this is another storm that is right over reading right now. we have parts of our area that haven't seen a drop of rain yet. and reading is getting hit over and over again. not seeing a lot of lightning compared to what we would normally expect with severe weather.
6:06 pm
this is south of mooullemullenb with some very heavy rains right now. that's not the only area. look at limerick now. and they are just getting pounded with the heavy thunderstorm. this is greater than 3 inches per hour rate. it's not staying over the same spot for an hour, but if it did, it was capable of producing 3 inches of rain. that's a real downpour right in the middle of limerick. this deep red area is a flash flood warning for all of berks county and into part of lehigh county because of all the rain that has fallen. there are until 8:30 p.m., there
6:07 pm
are other advisories that go down toward philadelphia in general. some ponding on the roads and normal kind of flooding you get with thunderstorm its. when they see a flash flood warning, that's a different story. that's a more severe event. those are the areas in red. the yellow indicates the severe thunderstorm watch for the potential for other e severe thunderstorms for developing during the next few hours. this goes until 9:00 overall for the area. once again all of berks county not in the severe thunderstorm watch, but also in the flash flood warning that goes until 8:00 tonight. there's still more precipitation back to the west. so that's going to have to come through tonight. this is not the last of the rain that we're going to get. we're going to get more rounds
6:08 pm
of rain coming in tomorrow. and some of that is going to be heavy and possibly some of that severe. >> late morning and then again tomorrow evening, it will be the same type of thing. lines of storms coming in. the only saving grace may if this neutralizes the atmosphere. this is pretty intense. this is a job of roughing up the atmosphere. if it does that, great. if not, it's going to lay down a lot of boundaries. it lays down pools of cool air. that's where thunderstorms can form and that may happen tomorrow as well. you can see it extending all the way from west to east across the area north of philadelphia. so so far philadelphia has been spared. and much of south jersey and delaware as well. we're seeing a storm along the beaches. so what you see with the yellow,
6:09 pm
that's our severe thunderstorm watch box. and that goes until 9:00 tonight. meaning we could see something pop up between now and 9:00 tonight. generally these expire a little early. once the storms are gone, that's going to expire or start edging away at being away. the bright yellow boxes that you see are the severe thunderstorm warnings. this is the one we're most concerned about in our area. you can see it's moving out of parts offen montgomery county and bucks county. from hatfield toward buckingham and north hampton, that's where we're watching right now for this storm is headed. and we have had reports of trees snapped. so we are concerned about this particular storm. the tornado warning earlier has expired. . that did you want mean these can't produce a tornado. not a huge damaging one, but a spin up is possible.
6:10 pm
this is being warned on for damaging winds and hail. we have seen some of this very, very large hail. this is sort of the cross section. this is a scan, if. you drew a line through the middle, what you be looking at. we put these in the atmosphere. we're right around 50,000 feet. the cloud tops up. but that's where we're seeing moisture. what we're seeing with the darker of red, that would be the hail and heavy rain we're looking at. you can't make out if you'd have a tornado shaft. but they have strong enough updrafts to be pulling stuff into the atmosphere. so that's what we're looking at. huge rain producers and wind producers. we're going to watch these moving off to the east. here's a good look at the entire system in motion. you can see some of this coming in behind it.
6:11 pm
we have stuff making its way into the area from behind all of this making its way back to parts of berks county. we'll keep you up to date on all of this. if we get. anymore tornado warnings, we'll be on modely. now we're going to head back over to for the latest on the breaking news. back to the breaking news, the unfolding murder mystery in bucks county. authorities back at that farm sifting through a deep grave they found during the search for the four missing men. cosmo dinardo has confessed to his role in the murders of the four men in bucks county. that word within the hour from his attorney. and we have video of cosmo dinardo being led to jail yesterday. his lawyer says he has admitted to taking part in the killings and told them about the location of some of the bodies. the confession part of a deal to avoid the death penalty. the four men vanished last week. their disappearance led to an investigation that's transfixed

velocity mode to see if we have the winds going in different directions to indicate some kind of circulation. so that was the basis for the tornado warning that was issued a little after 5:00. it's still in the 90s in delaware without a drop of rain. 90s in south jersey without a drop of rain. it's gotten. hit with all of this. we are going to be seeing that activity move out eventually. it's going take a few hours. more heavier rain and will knock the temperatures down and put an end to the heat wave that we have had. but here comes more. during the day tomorrow, we have multiple threats of showers and thunderstorms. it's going to be much cooler. it will still be very humid. so these storms could pop up very quickly like they did today. here's in the afternoon sol pretty heavy cells in chester
