the 33-year sentence. he was convicted of armed robbery inside a las vegas hotel room. today's hearing was expected to be a short one but it lasted a lot longer. more an hour. the hearing was played on televisions worldwide. the 70-year-old said he served his time for his crime. >> i'm sorry it happened. i'm sorry to nevada. i wish he had never called me. >> one of his victims read a statement and said he did not pull a gun on him and should be free d. his family can't wait until he gets home. he plans to move to florida to be with his family. chaos. a taxi picked up a woman from the casino and she stole the car for a joyride. investigators told nbc 10's steven fisher about her adventure. >> a cab driver pulled in here but it wasn't until an hour later when the woman jumped into the front seat and took off in the cab. the whole thing was caught on surveillance camera. video shows how a cab driver was helping his customer into a gas station last night. he walks her to the atm and walks her back outside to the parked cab. that's when things shifted for that driver. 45 minutes passed and all you can see is the cab still sitting in the parking lot. around 11:30 the woman starts exchanging words with the driver and pounds on the hood of the cab. she gets into the driver's seat and just before midnight she takes off in the cab leaving the driver stunned. >> it's very strange.

>> he was acting as a cab driver and picking up passengers. >> police caught up with the woman and in the backseat was a 23-year-old passenger and her 10-month-old baby who had had had no idea the woman behind the wheel stole the cab minutes before picking them up. a question on everyone's mind today here at the gas station in broad. >> you have to be careful. so far police have not released their name. steven fisher, nbc 10 news. in chester county, police are searching the home of a missing mom who vanished more than three months ago. state police were looking for clues today as they search the home for the first time. they disappeared back in april. her husband left in a panic and

never showed up for work. her family told us she had abruptly cancelled a trip to her native country of poland. the bucks county farm where four men killed has been cleared now as a crime scene. today police packed up equipment and tools used to search the farm. police are also thanking the community for dropping off food and water to help feed all the officers and agents who helped with the investigation. the 20-year-old cosmo dinardo confessed to killing four men on the farm. his cousin is charged in three of the murders. loved ones gathered this it morning to say a final farewell to one of the victims. a mass was held today for tom meo in northeast philadelphia. and a memorial for another vick tim is happening tonight in bensalem. today jeff sessions respo responded to president trump's criticism by saying it is an honor to serve and he's not leaving.

the president told "the new york times" he wish ed sessions woul have told him he planned to e recuse himself on the russia investigation. he said he would not have appointed him attorney general and would have chosen someone else. city of philadelphia has a new interim district attorney this evening. the court of common pleas namedly hodge as interim da. she kurncurrently works for a private law firm. she served under abraham and seth williams. william was jailed after pleading guilty to federal corruption charges. today the man who shot a police officer seven times was sentenced to 33 to 100 years behind bars. but the wounded officer told nbc 10 the sentence was too light. officer christopher dor man was at the courthouse for sentencing. he asked the judge for a strict sentence. the county judge gave him 33 years. even the da was hoping for more. >> i believe he should never see the light of day.

news is i'm starting to see them weaken. we do not have any tornado. we have a watch that's the light shades of yellow. that includes the lehigh valley and pennsylvania suburbs. it does not include delaware and chester county. it does not include south jersey or delaware itself. that's until 10:00 tonight. i'm going to go ahead and go through what's going on with these storms. you can see we have warnings now up here in the southern poconos. monroe county specifically. the storms are moving through hazelton have a lot of lightning associated with them. let's look at this severe thunderstorm warning. these counties here are going to be under a warning. they are starting to louz l sol intensity. they are moving at 40 miles per hour. they will be in lehigh at 6:45 and bushkill at 6:49. you want to stay away from the

windows. get interior. because these are throwing hail and have provided damage. their path has been a damaging path. these have diminished in their height. they were up to 40,000 foot. tos. you can seat shades of red. earlier they had magenta shades to indicate big reflectivity. usually hail. these have been hail producers. this is all good news for us as they approach. but you can see the hail track. this is where the tornado was reported. we showed you that video earlier. you can see the storms making their way out of buffalo. that happened earlier this afternoon. 2:00 this afternoon and headed toward our area. this is the line that we're concerned with. you can see it break apart and making a little bow. and then it's starting to

diminish once again. we're going to keep a close eye on that. let's skip on tomorrow. we have to talk about the heat. we still have our excessive heat warning for tomorrow and our heat emergency for the city. all the way until 11:00 tomorrow night. we're expecting to be in the s 90s. watch what happens. another round of even more storms could be on the way. this is after we hit the 90s on saturday. this is overnight saturday night and into sunday. the forecast models want to bring us a very strong storm system. we are under the risk of severe weather at that time. so we're going to have to keep a close eye out for it. then it will be plain rain showers for sunday morning. the temperature now the feels like in philadelphia, look at this. parkside feels like 100. you're going to have to pace yourself. stay hydrated and special care for pets. 97 tomorrow. 92 on saturday.
