storms are moving so any heavy rain will be temporary. this is heavy thunderstorm moving straight to the east and that goes right into the poconos not into the valley. you can see it is tracking straight to the east. it will be in hazelton shortly. here is allen town and that storm is not headed this way. it is part of a line of storms that is developing and the future cast is showing these storms moving in our direction through the evening hours, hour after hour. gets closer to philadelphia. 8:00, 9:00 and so expect at least a brief delay in the phillies game or your other outdoor activities because this computer model suggesting just about everybody is getting hit by this. it continues to move towards the

she spents much of her day preparing for the repeal of the affordable care act. she says the biggest issue at stake is medicaid. she said that is how the majority of the hospitals' patients receive coverage. we spoke about the potential impact on patients and employees. >> reporter: the mission is about serving children. much of the money comes from medicaid. >> 80% of the children we care for, 32,000 children here seen here have medicaid. half of the children that come to the main hospital. >> reporter: it is one reason the president of children's hospital of philadelphia is so worried about what a replacement for affordable care act will look like. >> i don't see anything that is good for children. >> reporter: it isn't just a respected medical institution for children. it is also philadelphia's fifth largest employer. its role in the region something

lawmakers on the house intelligence committee tomorrow. keith jones, nbc 10 news. back here at home a gunman is on the loose after robbing two people inside a school in north philadelphia. this happened earlier this morning at the mastery school campus on 18th and pike. the school is undergoing renovations. there are workers coming in and out of the building. we know the gunman took cash from the victims. the man accused of killing his girlfriend made his first court appearance this afternoon. paul kline faces murder charges. his girlfriend's body was found friday. new details at the fire burning in south jersey. fire crews tell us it is now fully contained and controlled. that fire ate up about 3,500 acres. that is about the third of the size of the park. officials say this happened after lightning struck a few

trees. the district attorney is thanking the community for its support during the search for four missing men, a story that captured the country's attention. d.a. matthew weintraub writes our community will need time to heal but we will heal i know it. weintraub became the public face of the investigation during the week long search of this farm. cosmo dinardo was accused of killing four men and burying their bodies here. his cousin sean kratz is accused of three of the murders. the district attorney sat down with an exclusive interview with deanna durante and said his goal was to bring the four missing men back to their families. there is new developments in the case involving dozens of migrants found in the back of a sweltering tractor-trailer outside a texas wal-mart. a tenth person died. today police charged the driver of the truck. he had up to 100 suspected

illegal immigrants when that rig was found abandoned this weekend in san antonio. along with the ten dead, nearly 20 other people being treated for extreme dehydration and heat stroke. authorities are considering it a case of human trafficking. new jersey has a democrat as governor. with christie and lieutenant governor at the association conference steve sweeney is filling in. before leaving christie cleared dozens of bills that needed to be signed or vetoed. she doesn't typically attend the conference but she is raising money for her run. it's sentencing day for a man convicted of shooting a philadelphia police officer more than two years ago. a judge today sentenced william nobblen to 25 to 30 years in jail. he shot danny kostick.

officer kostick confronted him about suspected drug activity. officer kostick was shot in the arm. pennsylvania governor tom wolf is in philadelphia today. he paid a visit to a pharmaceutical company. announced to expand operations to a new site. and the governor took part in a round table discussion. if you would like to fast track your way through airport security get to philadelphia international airport this week. tsa set up a temporary precheck application center. it is set up through friday. travelers using precheck don't have to take off shoes and belts when going through security and don't have to take out liquids. the application fee is $85 and good for five years. three u.s. airlines agreed to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. the transportation department detailed the settlements reached with american, delta and

frontier airlines. american will pay $250,000 for taking too long to get refunds to passengers. delta will pay $200,000 for under reporting mishandled baggage complaints. frontier agreed to pay for bumping passengers from overbooked flights. burkes county residents will learn about the plan for growing marijuana. the company was one of 12 across pennsylvania issued a permit to grow medical marijuana last month. officials will hold a town hall meeting tomorrow night from 7:00 to 9:00. and the bridge is in line for a facelift. the interstate 78 bridge will undergo a $123 million upgrade that will add lanes and wider shoulders. the project is still in the design stage. the bridge was built in 1956 and

moving straight west to east. it's not effecting redding or allen town. it looks like 646 to chestnut hill as we go through the rest of the afternoon. as you can see it is headed straight towards hazelton and not towards potsville and nowhere near redding or allen town. here is future cast. by 5:00 a new round of storms expected to develop and intensify and coming into northern western suburbs between 5:00 and 6:00 into the philadelphia area 7:00 to 9:00. some of that on the heavy side. some places really got pounded with rain over the last couple of days. so any down pours could cause localized flooding. that is pretty heavy stuff by 8:00. it is already moving into new jersey and delaware. as long as this thing continues

to move we're not going to have any kind of serious flooding, but we don't need any of this rain. some places have had multiple inches. by 11:00 it is pretty much moving offshore. we are not necessarily done with it by tomorrow, either. we can still see more showers but not thunderstorms like today. 85 right now. you can see some sunshine. much of the area is in the 80s except for the jersey shore. we actually had near 90 degrees an hour ago. cape may 84. land breeze for most of the day. the afternoon highs, well we got into the 90s but then dropped back as we go into tomorrow we may not hit 80 degrees. and look at these rain totals. 7.5 inches of rain just between

sunday and monday. a lot of it occurred in the middle of the night last night. another couple of inches of rain will cause problems. we want this to keep going through. delaware county, chester county getting heavy rain, too. turnersville in new jersey close to five inches. delaware 4.5. that is a lot of rain. creeks and rivers were up yesterday and last night. so this better move through pretty quickly. as we go into tomorrow we are talking more about nuisance showers. that will not have any kind of flood threat tomorrow. with the northeast wind and the clouds and the showers that will keep the temperature down. we may not get above that 78. that is what i got for our high temperature tomorrow and here we go. more showers into tomorrow night. you just can't get out of it. it is more of a northeast wind. this will keep things cool.

alert weather tracking return of rain and thunderstorms for tonight. the sun is trying to make a sneak peek right now. be prepared for storm clouds to roll in soon. fans heading to tonight's game might want to take rain gear. here is a live look where the rocks will take on -- we had a break in the wet weather this afternoon. don't put umbrellas away just yet. >> dangerous storms are moving through. we are not talking about several hours worth of rain. you don't need to cancel an entire evening's accounts. probably will be interrupted. the first batch is pretty significant cluster of storms moving straight to the east towards poconos and not towards lehi valley. you can see straight west to east movement here and timing.

that's moving straight to the east. that is coming in and then it will start coming down towards the philadelphia area. this first one at about 5:15. chestnut hill at 6:36. moving east at about 20 miles per hour. just right on to hazelton right there and the amount of rain has decreased a little bit. total amount of rainfall estimated by radar over the last couple of days. a lot of places with very little and then some places with way too much. so the bulls eye goes into northern new castle county, southwestern delaware county, southeastern chester county just north of wilmington. 6.3 estimate nearly four inches farther south in salem county. 3.3 in northwestern new castle county. 2.4 to 3 in parts of chester county. but if you go farther to the

north king of prussia hardly any. those areas that got hit hard yesterday are obviously most vulnerable ones today. here is the future cast hour by hour. the main cluster coming down towards the philadelphia area in the 7:00 to 9:00 hour obviously earlier redding and allentown in the other western suburbs. here is when it hits south philly and the tarp goes on the field. is the tarp going to stay on the field? here we are at 8:30. it's already tapering off. so it may be an hour or two rain delay potentially but i think they will still get to play the rest of the game as later on this evening storms get down. and we start getting clearing back from the west. the problem is our surface winds come out of the northeast. see those clouds there? the clouds are coming back down

in less than 200 days the winter olympics in. >> three brand new venues come into focus. come february the best will compete in venues for the winter games. the ice events among most highly anticipated. >> short track and speed skating, figure skating very popular sports in korea. we also traditionally do very well at the winter olympics games. >> reporter: in contrast to previous olympicss korea is ahead of schedule. athletes have already taken to the ice for exhibition games and international competition.

back in april the south korean women's hockey team played the north korean team here at the hockey center. the stands were packed and the game was a test that showed this venue is ready for the world stage. organizers hope the game also shows the potential for the olympics to set the stage for peace. this will be the first olympics for the korean men's hockey team. hockey is quickly gaining speed in korea. the hockey center is almost complete. just across from olympic park is the oval where speed skating events will take place. this has been tested by the start of the winter olympics the oval will have seen a year's worth of competition. the international speed skating championships were held here at the oval. the quality of the ice was so good many of the medalists broke their own records. we are checking out the arena which is home to the figure skating and short track events.
