violated her after putting her in a trance. nbc 10 breaking news. >> first at 5:00, the clantic county prosecutors office released this video from a police shootout. it left one man dead. i'm keith jones. >> this video was released to the public in just the last hour and a half. jim rosenfield joining us. some people may find the video disturbing. >> we will not show you the entire video. it begins with police chasing an suv. the video recorded by dash cam rr video in march of 2014. officers began chasing watson after pull ag gun after not having enough money to pay for a restaurant bill. 11 minutes and four towns later the chase ends in atlantic city

near the tanger outlet. watson's suv collides with another car here in the heart of atlantic city shopping district. he gets out and starts opening fire on police as they order him to drop his gun. take a listen. now we freeze the video right there. this point watson falls. police keep firing. he was shot a total of 45 times. prosecutors say the officers continued to fire until watson was no longer considered a threat and grand jury found the officers were justified in watson's death. the prosecutor's office released video today because of a state supreme court ruling requiring the release of dash cam video. jim rosenfield, nbc 10 news. right now at 5:00, wicked weather has been hammering the

area all weekend. water spouts, lightning and flooding concerns all impacting our region. we are tracking another night of storms. ted greenberg spoke with people feet of the waterspout. >> first let's get to krystal klei. you are tracking storms that could impact everyone. >> we are looking at what is going to be a line that moves through. the good news is that means flooding concerns not as high. take this live look at eastern pennsylvania to start with. this was more blue skies a few hours ago. the clouds starting to thicken up a bit and get darker gray look. and areas like lehigh valley that get storms first because most of the action is to our north and our west. we have still a good deal of lightning here that is just to the north of burkes county. this is mostly to the east. this will clip part of the

poconos. a lot will have to wait a few more hours before the bulk makes it through. take a closer look where we have the stronger situation. lightning moving through. if we time this out it does move through areas like hazelton here. so this is moving mostly east. it will not effect a lot of the viewing area. if we continue to move through the next several hours it will, the line itself make it through our neighborhoods. 6:00 starting through lehigh valley. and by 8:00 starting to move along the i-95 corridor. we will continue tracking this out hour by hour and talk about continuation of rain chances into your tuesday and when we finally dry out. first responders had to rescue a family after they came within feet of this force of nature. they told nbc 10 ted greenberg

they were terrified. >> going down and it's twisting. this is crazy. >> reporter: it caused a stir from afar. >> straight towards us. >> reporter: forrox an and her daughter and boyfriend -- >> they are panicking. i'm kind of panicking. >> reporter: the waterspout brought shock when they found themselves in its path. >> it got really, really close. >> your first boat trip. >> i'm excited. >> reporter: the trio started out sunday in a canoe to do crabbing in creeks near the delaware bay. >> it was intensely loud. they pulled on to a marsh when the waterspout began barling their way. >> you can see the water spin and the debris it is picking up. >> that is about how far it was. >> reporter: they say it came within 20 feet of them. she sprung into action to protect her little girl. >> i crawled into a ball.

denying involvement with russian operatives during the election. the investigation is far from over. today in washington rare public remarks from jared kushner, the president's son-in-law and senior adviser with a short but firm statement to reporters. >> let me be very clear, i did not collude with russia nor do i know of anyone else in the campaign who did so. >> reporter: kushner spent the morning in capitol hill behind closed doors answering questions about the russia investigation including questions over a campaign meeting he attended with donald trump jr. and a russian attorney among others. >> donald trump had a better message and ran a smarter campaign and that is why he won. suggesting otherwise ridicules those who voted for him. >> reporter: the nearly two hour session was private and kushner

hypnotized. we reached out to penn medicine for comment but have not heard back. we are hearing from the girlfriend of the 23-year-old man shot and killed during a violent weekend in chester. he was allegedly trying to break up a fight between his girlfriend and another woman when he was killed. happened around 5:00. police arrived they found he was shot nine times, two bullets hit him in the head. >> i wish it was me. i would rath er took the bullet than to feel the pain that i feel. >> 18-year-old has been charged with third and first degree murder. authorities say his sister was the other woman involved in the fight. a closer look at the impact of addiction on young people. that was the focus of a round table in washington today.

members of the bipartisan heroin task force hosted round table where a panel of experts talked about challenges of treating children and adolescence for substance abuse. football is back in philadelphia. today the eagles have their first day of training camp with quarterbacks, rookies and selected veterans. fans have high expectations for their birds. >> steven fisher spent the day seeing fans. the team is building something special here. >> reporter: doesn't get much to get fans excited about eagles football. even though they haven't made the playoffs fans we speak to believe it is all going to change this year. >> i'm excited for the season. >> fans say they are starving for a super bowl. never happened in the team's 85 years. many believe carson wentz is the

this is nbc 10 news. new developments in the case of a human smuggling ring in texas. ten migrant workers are dead. suspected drive of 18 wheeler facing federal charges. >> we have the latest from san antonio. another vigil for the ten

miground workers killed in a human smuggling case. the suspected driver, 60-year-old james bradley jr. is charged with one count of transporting illegal immigrants for financial gain resulting in death. triple digit temperatures essentially baked the workers trapped inside with no air conditioning. bradley claims he didn't know anyone was in the truck telling agents he was surprised he was run over by spanish people and knocked to the ground. he called his wife while a wal-mart employee called 911. >> checking video we found that there were a number of vehicles that came in, picked up a lot of folks that were in that trailer. >> reporter: one victim told agents he paid as much as $5,500 to get on the truck and claimed he and others took turns

breathing out of a hole adding they were pounding on the walls to get the driver's attention but he never stopped. >> devastating. i can't believe some people could do that to human people. >> reporter: the truck is registered to pile transportation incorporated in iowa. bradley insists he was transporting the truck to the new owner. this latest human smuggling case is reigniting immigration reform debate with many hoping for change sooner than later. investigators expect to make more arrests in the case. we are told there may have been more than 100 people in the truck's trailer at one point. reporting from san antonio, nbc news. septic customers running into a problem paying for rides. the system experienced septa key outage. no passengers being turned away. we use our phones for almost everything. why not have your driver's license on your phone instead of

>> we found plenty of folks out here getting a look at the normally calm river. firefighters have their gear ready just in case tonight's rain creates flooding. krystal klei with the impact you can feel from this weather tonight. >> that is one concern. we have seen flooding because of the heavy rain that we had last night into early this morning. now with more rain moving through some areas and creeks to capacity a little more can do the damage. this line starting to come together. you can see slicing through scranton and back up to harrisburg. that line is going to continue dropping down to the southeast. that means all our neighborhoods are getting a shot at periods of heavy rain, lightning and possibly damaging winds, as well. you can see the severe thunderstorm warning, the yellow boxes just to the north. let's take a closer look in.

just to the north of burkes starting to brush up into the poconos. this will continue moving mostly east and southeast. this will not impact most of us. you are looking at some of the heavy rain possibly lightning or wind damage moving through your area. this is the heads up. it is about time to get indoors before you see it coming down. hour by hour shows us the line that i pointed out will make its way all the way through our zone. it takes a little while for it to do so. about 25 miles per hour. so 6:30 passing through parts of burkes county. we go through 7:30. now slicing through the suburbs. just about to philadelphia and wilmington. by 8:30 now this line is overhead. sometimes the model goes too strong. it might not be a perfect line of storms all the way through.

what is likely is we have some pockets of stronger storms. continues into parts of south jersey through about 9 p.m. from 9:00 you see it as weakening. still dropping rain. this is some flood prone areas because this is where we saw some heavy rain from about 11:00 through 2:00 a.m. mostly moving offshore. the good news is this is the end of the strong to severe storm threats for at least a couple of days. we may have showers tomorrow. here temperatures 87 degrees in philadelphia. in the suburbing 84. new jersey you are at 80. upper 80s in delaware. and lehigh valley 82. you can see clouds getting dark as storms are starting to approach. i am showing you the wide picture here because there is a stark difference. new york city 69 degrees. we are at 87 degrees. and this cold air trying to shift in with a northeast flow

a picture is worth a thousand words. that is definitely true for the next story. an nbc 10 viewer snapped these pictures in china town. franklin mann was working when he saw a homeless man picking up trash in his bare feet. he asked what size shoe he wears. turns out they wear the same size. mann took off his shoes and put the shoes on the man. one of our viewers took this shot and sent it to us. you're almost speechless. >> that kind of compassion is inspiring. no better way to describe it. hoagie headache. >> a hoagie shop back pedals on a policy when a viewer tried to

this is nbc 10 news. now at 5:00, we are tracking storms in our area. check out first alert radar on the left side of your screen. you can see lots of activity. a lot of green moving towards us. on the right side a change in the skyline. the clouds moving in over philadelphia. take a look at the mess. heavy rain left on the campus in south jersey. the rain flooded the basement of the building. you can see the water rising outside the apartments. fire crews were called in to pump out that water. no one was hurt. here is what it looks like in center city, philadelphia. overcast skies as you look at liberty one and liberty two. >> a live look at philadelphia international airport. also a little overcast.

not too bad. krystal klei has latest conditions in your most accurate forecast for your neighborhood. >> another live camera. just showing off change in the skies like you were pointing out. this is new tripoli. you see a dark picture. it makes sense that they are darkest cameras northern most because that is where the storms will hit first. we look at radar and satellite view. we have the perfect line really developing and hitting about expected for this time. making to the lehigh valley. cutting through parts of poconos. severe thunderstorm warning to the north of lehigh valley and burkes county. this is where the lightning is. this is where the heavy down pours are just over 30 lightning strikes. you see the severe thunderstorm warning extended into burkes county. let's see if we can see how long this is in pact for. these are moving just east

and move on to second grade. >> totally got it. how well do you know the eagles? test your knowledge. you can do that on new rookie donnel pumphrey. take our quiz on nbc10.com. we continue to follow developing story in philadelphia's frankfurt neighborhood. police say two women were hit with pellets or bb gun less than an hour ago. police say they were standing on the corner when it happened. so far no arrests have been made. about $426,000 was the cost to defend a sniper who killed a pennsylvania trooper and injured another. eric freen was convicted in april and sentenced to death. he shot the troopers in september 2014 in pike county. freen led police on a 48-day manhunt after those shootings. a look at stories making headlines county by county.

the search for a drugstore flasher. police say the man in the surveillance photo exposed himself inside a walgreens. it happened saturday afternoon at the store on atlantic avenue. if you recognize the guy call police. a state supreme court ruling is raising questions about pennsylvania's sex offender registry future. justices ruled the change to the law cannot be applied retroactively. a spokesperson says the ruling could result in sex offenders being removed from the registry if they committed their crimes before that new version of the law took effect. in philadelphia reminder about why you should lock your car door. a man is caught on camera stealing from a car. he opens the unlocked passenger side door and then checks out what is in the trunk. police say he got away with a bag of sports equipment and cash. the fire burning in south jersey is now fully contained. the fire started about five days

ago and ate up 3,500 acres. that is about a third of the size of fair mont park. fire crews say they have it under control. officials say this happened after lightning struck a few trees and hat is what started the fire. it was graduation day for a special class of canines. 15 teams of dogs and handlers graduated from a pet therapy program. the dogs and handlers provide emotional support to patients, family and staff. services will officially begin next month. a rescue that definitely stinks. the one item a man was looking for when he got stuck in a trash chute. wait until he got firefighters to help. a hoagie shop did not honor its policy. a customer didn't get anywhere

a group of hikers happy to be back on dry land tonight. more than a dozen were stranded yesterday in arizona. this video from the sheriff's department shows rescue of one man. crews used a helicopter to pull

eight people including a 4-year-old boy to safety. the other nine were rescued when the water went down. a different type of rescue all because of a cell phone. a man in washington, d.c. thought he dropped his phone down the trash chute so he went to look for it and down he went. he called 911 inside the chute when he found his phone. firefighters used a harness to get him out. luckily he wasn't hurt. you will never guess this, get me out of this thing. >> at least he found his phone. check this out, a guy from new york goes diving in a lake to look for lost treasures and finds one. >> the man says he was diving with his metal detector when he found this american hockey league hall of fame ring. it belonged to former player and member of the 2007 hall of fame class. and now the ring will be

to eat. even biking around the area, as well. >> live look at university city. look at that. you can see hazy skies. clouds moving in as people head home in that morning rush below. krystal klei joins us. where are the storms right now? >> they are starting to move along the northern edge. you can see i showed this camera to start right at 5:00. there is a big difference. the dark clouds that are overhead look at the update. we have a nice area of rain coming down on our camera. the rain is starting to move through. the heaviest not yet there. you can see our line on first alert radar that we were talking about. the storm cells would lineup perfectly and that would bring quick punch of heavy rain. the good news is they are not trapi training. that causes biggest flooding concerns. when you have the yellows, reds,

oranges coming through that is heavy rain in areas that have already flooded out from early morning rain. this could be enough to put them over. if you are in a flood prone area be on edge with the next few hours. let's start with a close look where the heaviest rain is moving through. that is just heavy rain that is moving in. these down pours now into parts of the lehigh valley. plenty of lightning and severe thunderstorm warning. looking at wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour possible as this line moves in. you have to be aware that things in the backyard going to get knocked around. might break. could cause issues. you have to be careful. this is why we are tracking storms so closely. take a look at the hour by hour tracker. as we put this into motion this particular cell is moving more at a southeast position. the timing near allen town 6:38. clinton 7:17.

a viewer says an incident at a sandwich shop left her with a bad taste in her mouth. >> her complaints went nowhere. bad taste in her mouth. >> our viewer tells us a hoagie franchise went back on its promise and charged her for food she says she should have gotten for free.

the policy if you don't get a receipt then your food is free. >> i paid for the order. >> reporter: she purchased nearly $70 worth of food. she got her order and said she started to leave but tells us just before leaving the sandwich shop she realized she didn't have her receipt. >> i could see it sitting in the printer of the register. she says she wanted primo to honor its promise. >> he said i can give you a free hoagie for your next visit. i said that's not going to do. >> reporter: she complained to the owner. he says he declined to honor the policy. >> i was stunned. i started to get upset like this is not right. >> reporter: she reached out to nbc 10 responds. we contacted the corporate offices and acknowledged the cashier failed to give her the receipt and then sent this e-mail promising her a refund.

and pulled a gun on police. kidnappers sentenced. the woman who stole an infant from a mall is about to learn her punishment for the crime. bad gasoline. several drivers end up on the side of the road right after filling up. nbc 10 news starts now. we begin with this new video of a shootout in atlantic city. the dash cam video shows officers firing back at a suspect who pointed a gun at them. >> this video was just released a few hours ago more than two years after it was recorded. >> shooting followed a police chase through four different townsending in the heart of atlantic city's shopping district. it is a chilling look at what police saw coming at them. dash cam video of watson as he

gets out of his car, a handgun aimed at an officer ignoring his demands to surrender. police begin in the center of a tourist area known as the walk. we are freezing the video before watson falls to the ground but the police continue to fire. the entire gunfight lasts nearly 24 seconds. officials tell us police kept shooting because they feared watson was wearing body armor since he kept walking even after being shot. he was shot a total of 45 times. by the time he died he had unloaded a ten round magazine. his autopsy found he had the drug pcp in his system. >> a grand jury found the officers were justified in watson's death. the video was released because of a ruling requiring its release. now to our first alert
