gets out of his car, a handgun aimed at an officer ignoring his demands to surrender. police begin in the center of a tourist area known as the walk. we are freezing the video before watson falls to the ground but the police continue to fire. the entire gunfight lasts nearly 24 seconds. officials tell us police kept shooting because they feared watson was wearing body armor since he kept walking even after being shot. he was shot a total of 45 times. by the time he died he had unloaded a ten round magazine. his autopsy found he had the drug pcp in his system. >> a grand jury found the officers were justified in watson's death. the video was released because of a ruling requiring its release. now to our first alert

weather. we are tracking strong storms about to hit your neighborhood. you can see them on the live first alert radar. let's get right to glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> the storms are starting to organize into a line. you can see that quite clearly. once it does it starts to move perpendicular to that line. it will be moving into southeastern pennsylvania and into the philadelphia area. right now the strongest storm is just north and looks like it is headed right towards the allen town area and the severe thunderstorm warning does include allen town until 6:30 p.m. and the tracking of this storm takes it around 6:20 and richland at 6:52. it is in upper bucks county. we have montgomery county potentially in the path of that storm. we will get lightning out of that and likely some hail.

president donald trump talked about his push to repeal and replace obamacare. he made his feelings on the policy clear. >> every pledge that washington democrats made to pass that bill turned out to be a lie. it was a big fat ugly lie. >> he went on to outline stories of families who have not benefitted from obamacare. the president outlined some of what he considered to be benefits of the law. pennsylvania senator pat toomey says at this point it is not clear that republicans have enough votes to pass the plan. today nbc 10 caught up with him about one of the big sticking points. >> it's been interesting cht. >> reporter: senator pat toomey had a business round table. >> however that vote goes we will not be finished with health care. it's not possible really to be finished with health care.

>> reporter: one of the big sticking points of any bill, how to handle medicaid. >> i'm terrified. >> reporter: medicaid pays for treatment for her 2 1/2 year old. >> we are going to fight and hope that maybe she can walk with a walker or crutches someday. >> reporter: senator toomey assuring those gathered here that no one gets kicked off medicaid under the senate plan but says he wants states to pay their fair share to make the program sustainable. >> if the federal funding goes down can the state make up some of that to keep people on medicaid? >> i think that is what becomes very difficult. >> reporter: department of human services secretary tells me pennsylvania would have to look at options that could mean changing who is eligible or what services are covered. even though you are saying nobody would be kicked off of medicaid could you see the end result is that fewer people get to be on medicaid? >> well, this is a hypothetical.

i don't know what every guv r governor and state legislature will decide. i know the reforms in medicaid make the program viable and sustainable. >> reporter: the answer can come as soon as tomorrow. president trump's son-in-law and senior adviser jared kushner insisted today he did not collude with russia during the presidential race. kushner answered more than two hours of questions behind closed doors from staff of the senate intelligence committee. some questions were about a meeting attended with donald trump jr. kushner insists the trump campaign got no help from moscow. >> donald trump had a better message and ran a smarter campaign and that is why he won. >> tomorrow kushner will repeat this process before the house intelligence committee unlike today he will be under oath

tomorrow. democratic party ruling out new economic agenda that they hope will help all americans and win back control of congress. chuck schumer and nancy pelosi led today's conference. they talked about specifics such as going after corporations, lower prescription drug prices and using job training programs to help more americans find work. schumer said he hopes the current path can help more people buy into the agenda. >> as a better deal resonates around america pand they see their path free up corporations and get rid of protections to consumers and workers and the environment failed they may come join us. that's our vote. >> schumer says the party needed a more aggressive agenda after losing big in the 2016 election. philadelphia made history with the first african-american woman to lead the district attorney's office. kelly hodge was sworn into

office serving as interim d.a. until the new one is elected and takes office next year. the board of judges picked hodge to fill the position to replace seth williams. he resigned from office after he was convicted of federal bribery charges. williams is in prison awaiting sentencing. a lightning strike triggered the forest fire that ripped through thousands of acres in south jersey. today state officials announced that was the cause of the forest fire which burned through 3,500 acres. it started wednesday night and the smoke spread so far it could be seen at the jersey shore beaches by the weekend. the fire is now 100% controlled. more homes have smoke alarms after a deadly fire this weekend. the red cross was out installing the alarm today. a husband and wife in their 90s were found dead in the front bedroom of their home sunday morning. there were smoke detectors in their house but no one heard

them go off. a developer wants to move dozens of bodies buried centuries ago. construction crewed uncovered the bodies. the bodies were supposed to have been moved back in 1860. properties went to court today to ask for permission to remove, preserve and rebury the bodies. the court will reconsider the case again in ten days. a new park is coming. $750,000 federal grant announced today will help create park on the city's north side. park opened on the south side back in june. the new park will feature trails and picnic areas across 13 acres of land. bad gasoline. we will hear from one driver who did not get far after filling up at the pump. i'm john clark live at eagles training camp first day. we get answers from head coach

this is nbc 10 news. >> a problem at the pump has cars breaking down in chester county. >> tips pour into nbc 10 responds investigative reporter traces the problem to a single gas station. >> reporter: she says her trip to this station put her car in the shop. >> cars were just all over the place just pulled over at the side of the road. >> reporter: now shut down. state inspectors made sure of it. mechanics say it is easy to see why. >> this is what you pulled out of her car splmpt dw united tire says it will cost at least $1,200 to fix. >> it's not gas. it's a darker fuel. this looks like diesel to us. >> reporter: we found inspectors have been here five times in the last three years. each time they found some minor problem that ultimately got

three people when they found themselves directly in the path of that water spot. formed sunday afternoon along delaware bay. they were canoeing and crabbing in a creek when they noticed the waterspout. they say it came within about 20 feet androx ann acted immediately to keep her little girl safe. >> as a parent you only want to protect your child. the only thing i knew to do was jump on top of her and make sure nothing happened. >> and what seemed like the last minute they say the waterspout took a sharp right turn. thanks to a 911 call rescuers found the group and brought them and their canoe back to shore. we get to your first alert weather here is a live look at boathouse row. today seemed like a better day for rowing. >> a look at citizens bank park where the phillies have a game

against houston astros. will the rain and storms effect it? take a look at the radar. we are tracking storms. >> glenn "hurricane" schwartz has been keeping track of this all afternoon. when can we start seeing the storm snz. >> in the philadelphia area looks like generally 8:00, perhaps until 9:00. but in the redding area, allen town easton we are talking about it is right on your door step. as you can see we have a pretty strong storm here in lehigh valley. there is allen town right on the edge getting hit pretty hard. north white hall in it. bethlehem is also in the path of the storm. fortunately the lightning decreased a little bit. this area in orange including allen town in the severe

thunderstorm warning until 6:30 and the main problem with this is likely to be the hail as you will see in just a minute. another cell headed into burkes county. the first one goes to allen town at 6:27. doilz town at 7:28. the one coming towards redding look izlis like it will hit the the elevations of these are pushing up close to 40,000 feet. this is the one that is moving into allen town and that is capable of producing hail. these bright colors indicate the size of the hail and if i track the hail that would be about 6:37 into allen town. there is likely hail and possible fairly large even up to golf ball size. here we go hour by hour coming through philadelphia area 8:00

to 9:00. likely a delay at the ball game and then the storms move out. and it needs to move out because some parts of our area got blasted with rain over the last 24 hours. this is the general area. northern delaware into parts of chester and delaware counties. you can see 8:00 to 9:00 you get the heavy rain over areas that had three to seven inches of rain yesterday. that is where you have the best chance or greatest threat of some of that flooding. as we go into the day tomorrow we are not talking about heavy rain or severe storms, but we are talking about cloudy skies, much cooler weather and some showers. a different kind of day. 78 for the high. mostly cloudy skies. you can see clouds pretty much everywhere. easton and allen town only high of 76 degrees tomorrow. a high of 76.
