allegations. >> nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal was there. he sound ed defiant. >> e he came out of his house here and said he would fight these charges after we learned that two mayors are facing two big federal indictments. the former mayor of reading declined to comment saying he's still looking over the paperwork, but the current mayor of allentown came out of his house a little bit ago saying he would fight these charge cans and say he will run for reelection. >> reporter: after fbi agents raided city hall in reading and allentown, authorities found evidence of public corruption. prosecutors allege the two mayors sold their offices to the highest bidder in allentown mayor ed pawlowski accused of taking bribes in exchange of giving city contracts. >> all of the alleged corruption in both indictments does serious damage to the integrity of our

systems. >> reporter: but pau low facing more than 50 charges not backing down. claiming he was unaware of the details of certain contracts and blaming his former campaign manager who already pled guilty. >> in no, way, shape or form was city hall up for sale. some calling for him to go, but pawlowski pledging to stay in office and will run for reelection. locals remain skeptical worried about the dark cloud looming over the city. >> when the charges have come about and the investigation is obviously pretty in depth and long to get to this point, they sound pretty substantiated.

campaign funds so moore could repay campaign debts. a moore campaign aid pled guilty to falsifying reports to cover it up. rescued from the rubble, a homeowner wakes up to find his home just collapsing around him. the man and woman barely made it out. steven fish er is live at this scene where there's an investigation. i know you spoke to the people who were inside and were very lucky to get out. >> they are handling this investigation. they tell us right now they are not sure why this house collapsed. you see this lot here. three homes are supposed to be built here. this is next to the house ha collapsed. they are specifically looking into if the construction compromised that house.

>> i just heard a loud boom and it's just crack iing. >> two men on their way home saw the collapse around 4:30 in the morning and reason over to help the homeowner and his wife. >> we heard the scream and there was a lady dangling from the second floor. so we crawled up the side of the wall and pull ed her out. >> reporter: the homeowner did not want to talk on camera, but he told me this house was a gift to him from his grandmother. e he credits the cat for saving their lives. >> the cat was acting funny and basically warned them. it was scratching himself on the door and stuff. >> neighbors were shocked and stunned and some grew worried wondering if this could happen to them. >> i really have wondered.

united states government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity of the u.s. military. this all comes about a year after former president obama's secretary of defense lifted a ban on transgender military service. president trump cited medical costs and distraction for that decision. a doctor who has been performing gender reassignment surgery d disagrdi disagrees with the president. >> they are on hormones to help them transition. but why is that different from being on diabetes or any other medicine for any other condition? >> there are a z many as 6600 people transagengender serving the military. that's according to a recent study. republicans and democrats criticized the president's sudden policy reversal, especially since it came e via

twitter. >> i want a strong military but i want it to be fair. i want a hearing, not a tweet. >> the department of defense seemed caught off guard and referred all questions to the white house. continuing coverage of the health care showdown. back to the drawing board on the plan to repeal president obama's health care law. late this afternoon, the senate reed the republican's proposal to repeal obamacare and give congress two years to come up with a a replacement. everyone is republicans joined democrats and voted against the plan. their first attempt also failed to pass last night. the senate will now troy to vote on a series of amendments on individual health care measures. delivering poison to a hospital. today the montgomery county district attorney charged and accused drug dealer with murder. he's accused of selling drugs five times while she was inside the hospital back in may. she overdosed and died. this is the fourth person this

year in montgomery county charged with dealing drugs resulting in death. a bucks county pan accused of stealing hundreds of dollars in sunglasses is in police custody. he turned himself in to police in newtown town shship. this is video of the theft that designed provision. investigators say he put the shades on babies in those car seats and walked out with. bail has been set at $25,000. in delaware a crackdown on prostitution in massage businesses. today governor carney signed a bill to tighten massage regulations. the goal is to fight human trafficking and illegal massage parlors. the law let them inspect without notice or without any criminal investigation. the governor signed another bill to make fantasy sports betting legal in delaware. the new law lets playersly make money off fantasy sports. operators of paid fantasy contests will need a license and pay a tax and yearly fee.

it's an nbc 10 investigation looking into a rise in violent crime. philadelphia's averaging about three shootings a day in 201. our investigation is finding that has not changed in over a year. according to police statistics, most shootings involve 18 to

34-year-old men. by the numbers, most of the shootings are happening in north philadelphia. they are neighborhoods where arlene lives. >> i can hear the shooting while i'm in the kitchen. someone is always shooting. >> all new at 11:00, our investigation continues as police struggle to solve murders in the city of brotherly love. new at 6:00, sex workers on display. a local photographer is using her lens to highlight human trafficking in an exhibit unveiled today. for three years an artist visited brothels in mexico for a look inside the lives of sex workers. she says many of the women she photographed were kidnapped, sold into prostitution and became addicted to drugs. most of them are no locker alive. >> i was expecting cute little

it's dry today. 78 degrees in philadelphia right now. and a little cooler than that across much of the rest of the area. nothing but fair weather and cumulus clouds today. and a few places getting up to 80. it did get to 82 at philly airport. all those places will be warmer tomorrow. just some fair weather clouds here. this is part of the next system that's going to be moving in by tomorrow night. it looks like friday and friday night are going to be the worst parts of this. that's why we have issued a first alert for all neighborhoods. that's when the worst weather is going to occur. could be some lingering flooding during the day on saturday in some areas. the severe storms are possible.

it doesn't take that much rain to produce flooding. this dark green area only needs 1 to 2 inches in a six-hour period. that's very likely. much of delaware, as you can see, in the 3 to 4-inch range. and there could certainly be more than that. or even tomorrow night. it's friday that things start to get a little wild. especially later in the day and at night. some tremendous rains coming through and that computer model, the european b model, the most
