"nbc10 news" starts now. grab those umbrellas. this brief downpour in philadelphia tonight is just a taste of what's to come. look at what's coming our way. you can see all the rain tha fm0 radar tonight. because we've had so much rain lately, the chance for flooding is much, much higher. so the nbc10 weather team has issued a first alert. meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with the up to date forecast for your neighborhood. >> we've shifted the first alert a little bit. we're accepting the lehigh valley and berks of the neighb are still in it. the biggest threat is delaware and south jersey. generally 3:00 p.m. friday to 3:00 p.m. on sat. that's when the worst of it is coming. flooding due to the hev rain and the existing wet ground that

makes us more vulnerable. a chance of some severe storms, as well generally in southern sections. we had one or two isolated showers right across the area earlier this there's more action back to the west. you're seeing a little bit more of a movement to the southeast. and that is one of the changes that'spe evening. as we go through the day tomorrow, we find more and more showers especially later in the day. and into the greater intensity. greater coverage. and by tomorrow night, it really, really gets wet. the afternoon, that's when we have the best chance of the storms during the day tomorrow. then tomorrow night and saturday it really gets nasty. more on the timing there coming up. >> glenn, all right. three people in custody tonight after a robbery, police chase and shooting in wilmington its trying to stop a robbery suspect on westover road when the man just starred shooting. an fer fired back.

no one was hurt. the officer then chased the suspect and arrested him. two more suspects were taken into custody nearby. also tonight, a murder mystery haunts a neighborhood. tonight, police officers worked with the community to get justice for win fred harris. the community activist was killed nearly six months ago now, but no one has been arrested. nbc10's aundrea cline-thomas is it live in her neighborhood tonight. the community is convinced someone knows something that could help this case. >> that's right. let me explain why these rowhomes are on a tiny street. i'm told the walls are paper thin. so far nobody's come forward with any information. their hearts are shattered. >> win fred live on. live on in each and every one of us. >> reporter: people gathered in the garden she helped bring to life to talk about the mystery surrounding her death. >> if you call over here, you hear over here.

someone heard something. >> on on february 3rd, she was found pond shot multiple times in her home. in april, philadelphia police released this video of two men they're calling persons of interest. >> it's my personal mission until -- to make sure that this story stays in the eay six mont later, no tips are coming in to police. >> unfortunately, that's a trend with some of our crimes specifically our shootings within philadelphia. >> reporter: how could that that be for a woman who spent her life serving the community? she was the executive director for an organization that plants maouldn't hurt a fly. that's why it's so hard for me to fathom how someone could hur friends and family joined police to hand out fliers trying to keep this case from going cold. >> why haven't nobody said anything? if it was their family member,

you understand, they'll see how we feel right now. >> reporter: as you can imagine, that family is devastated tonight. there is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. meanwhile, winnie harris's family and friends blan to come back here on september 2nd to celebrate what would have been her 66th birthday. reporting live, aundrea cline-thomas, "nbc10 news." >> another case of anti-police graffiti turns up in philadelphia near south 25th and oakford streets. the messages of hate scratched on concrete pillars. similar memessages a few blocks away. this was found on several pillars at 25th and tasker streets on monday. there's now a $5,000 reward for information who did this. earlier today, police released this video of three suspects caught on camera in south philadelphia spray painting anti-police messages. this happened tuesday on south 35th street. tonight, a new sketch of a

man police say tried to lure children into his car in bucks county. police in yardley need your help trabing down this man here. he approached a 12 and 13-year-old boy near lake afton earlier this month and tried to get them to go to another fishing spot. he had another child in the car. the boys refused and the man drove off. the bones of at least a dozen people have vanished from a storage facility. you may remember back in march, construction crews uncovered dozens of coffins during work on an apartment building here in old city. the bones were recently moved from the storage facility to rutgers camden for research. but some of them didn't make it to the university. pmc properties which had possession of the bones is working with researchers to try to get to the bottom of this. right now at 11:00, the battle over health care happening both inside and outside the capitol tonight. protesters are pushing for obamacare while republicans in the senate fight over how to repeal it. this is just part of a really

in center city may soon have more police and security for crowd control. comes after video of this fight went viral near one of the restaurants that's part of center city's sips on wednesday night. police are now considering adding more officers especially at the outdoor locations. no one was seriously hurt or arrested. the mayor of allentown pleaded not guilty today to federal corruption charges. ed pawlowski pledged to win his bat in court and win re-election this november. prosecutors allege he took campaign bribes in exchange for doling out city contracts. his attorney admits the feds likely have secret audio recordings of the mayor. no trial date has been set. and look at this man police say he burglarized a mosque in northeast philadelphia. investigators say he broke into the islamic society of greater philadelphia mosque on roosevelt boulevard twice this month and got away with cash from donation

you won't find any fireball rides like there in motion anywhere in the world tonight. the manufacturer of the ride that malfunctioned at the ohio state fair ordered the global shutdown. an 18-year-old who recently enlisted in the marines was killed when the ride broke apart and crashed to the ground

yesterday. seven others were hurt. authorities say inspectors repeatedly looked over the ride while it was assembled and signed off on itefore the accident. morey's peers in north wildwood is temporarily closing its pendulum ride for a few weeks in light of the accident. the ride called it flies about 65 feet above the boardwalk. a cancer patient is suing the new jersey motor vehicle commission saying the agency forced her to headscarf for her driver's license photo. she didn't want to take off the scarf when she went to get her license updated last month and is still uncomfortable exposing her bald head caused by chemotherapy. >> i said, well, i have breast cannes cancer. i'm bald. i don't want to take any pictures or could i not? can you use my old photo? into no, you have to take that thing off. >> gee dan know says another employee stepped in and made her

a new license using her old photo. she's suing for emotional distress. she also wants the agency to review its policies and train employees how to treat people with medical or religious exemptions. a new jersey man is under arrest for allegedly racking up nearly $88,000 in unpaid tolls and fees. records show 60-year-old anthony cotunia owes more than $40,700 and an additional $47,000 in unpaid tolls on the new jersey turnpike. police nabbed him after they say he drove through an easy pass lane on george washington bridge without paying. >> let's go racing, boys. >> nascar is returning to the poconos this weekend. monster energy series will be at pocono raceway for the running of the 400 on sunday and it will be dale earnhardt jr.'s final race ever on the track. greg alding will also be speeding around the track this

south jersey which will get the highest amounts. 3:00 p.m. friday to 3:00 p.m. saturday for the general worst of the whole thing. the heavy rain causing flooding, maybe even creeks and rivers being affected here. a slight chaps of severe storms especially in delaware and south jersey. not much here right now. we did have an isolated heavy shower in philadelphia earlier. but it's got nothing to do with this mess that's out to the west. that's not organized yet. the storm will form right along the coast. it's going to be a mini nor'easter and it's going to get nasty. here's friday in the morning so for the morning rush, we're okay. but as we go into the afternoon, we're not so okay. that's some heavy rain, the yellows, oranges and eventually we get red in here. that's really heavy. flooding type of intensity. again we're showing more delaware south jersey but if the track of this shifts just a little bit, then we're up in the

trouble for chester county, out through philly and even burlington counties, for example. because these areas have had too much rain during the monthly. but look at that. that's all in the middle of tomorrow night. saturday morning it's still there. saturday afternoon it's still there. the storm is slow adds to the rainfall. and it messes up the rest of saturday. and then on sunday, we could clouds. all right, how much rain? less to the north, more to the south in general. overall.from the european model. and let me tell you, this is not the heaviest amount of rain of any of the models. we're talking about tremendous amounts of rain at the maximum areas. five, six, seven, eight inches of rain locally. here's the southern half of delaware. large area of four inches plus.
