immediately this weekend, is it priebus, is it scaramucci? is it bannon? >> who resigns? >> who resigns. it's untenable. the west wing is paralyzed at this point. people not involved in the feud, are sitting watching, waiting to see. who is in charge of this white house? who do they report to? who is setting the agenda? who is running the meeting meet? he has to do something this weekend. this white house is not prepared for an unforeseen crisis. be it natural disaster or something else. and they only have themselves to blame. this is that untenable. >> and scaramucci reports to the president himself. did he score points with that tirade? >> it's the way he has gone after prebus until the tirade.

piece-by-piece. this morning, officials are trying to figure out how this ride swinging and spinning up to 40 feet in the irair could have broken apart, throwing riders airborne. the wreck killing 18-year-old tyler jerrell, a high school student who enlist marines last week. seven other people were injured, including jennifer lambert, who remains in a coma. she was on the ride with her boyfriend, who suffered a broken leg. >> just a sight that no parent would want to go through. >> reporter: lambert's mother, denise gonzalez, said the fireball was her f attraction. >> every year, she went there and rode that. >> reporter: john kasich visited the grounds on thursday. the ride's manufacturer ordering it to be shut down worldwide, while an investigation is under way. fireball had been looked at in ohio three to four times as it

was being assembled by third party and state inspectors, who noted proper assembly. no cracks or excessive wear and no missing bolts. passing inspection the same day it malfunctioned. do we have an indication if this is equipment failure or operator error? >> we don't know that. >> reporter: records show the exact same ride was used just weeks ago in new jersey. ohio fairgoers witnessing a very different ride than the one they expected. >> it's the state fair calling again. we're going to need apparently there's some people trapped on the ride that can't get out. >> you're cutting in and out. you're going the need who else? >> extrickation equipment. >> reporter: julian bellinger made the video that has been

seen around the world. >> that's surreal. you don't think you'll see that here. >> reporter: fairs and amusement parks across the country have shut down similar rides. this is a popular ride with a good safety record.investigator figure out what went wrong here, they're not taking chances. >> probably a smart call. thank you very much. a commuter train crashed into the buffers at a station in barcelona. the force of that crash crumpled the front of the train. many passengers were standing at the time of impact. 18 people had to be takenal, in. now, an investigation of what caused the crash are under way. there's developments in the crash involving venus williams. body cam videos have surfaced from that day. >> reporter: the just-released

footage reveals the back and forth among police officers, before they decided that venus williams had the right of way in this intersection. but the lawyer defending the family in the other car says he hears and sees something quite different, politician indecision. >> these people need help. >> reporter: this morning as eyewitnesses called 911. >> oh, got. >> reporter: venus williams is seen for the first time on dramatic, new police body cam video, just minutes after she was involved in a car crash. >> i never saw that car coming. >> reporter: and the other car -- >> are you okay? >> reporter: linda barson who was driving and her 78 husband, jerome, air bags triggered jerome barson died from his injuries two weeks later. but the question remains, who is at fault. >> i will say you're at fault. but i'm not citing you for the

crash. i'm not comfortable writing the citation if i'm not 100% sure. >> reporter: the initial police report says williams was at fault. but after looking at this surveillance video, williams did have the right away when she entered the intersection. the lawyer for the barsons filed a wrongful death lawyer. her lawyer responding that the barsons are at fault, for not using seat belts. allegations the barsons' lawyer denies. you're sure you're fine. >> reporter: at the accident scene, a 911 caller recognizes a celebrity is involved. >> one of the people involved is one of the serena sisters, the williams. some think that her celebrity may have played a role. do you believe that the officers treated miss williams

we're back. it's 7:30. it is friday morning. 28th of july, 2017. a busy morning. let's get right to the he lines and tell you about this dramatic vote overnight. the republicans pushed to repeal obamacare was dealt a major blow. the latest pressumeasure to rol parts of the affordable care act was defeated in the senate, when three republicans, including john mccain, joined democrats to reject it. after that vote, mitch mcconnell put the health care bill on hold and said it's time to move on. the moves come in retaliation against the united states. on thursday, the senate approved

a new package of stiff financial sanctions against russia, iran and north korea and sent it to president trump to sign. and the national highway safety administration is expa expanding an investigation into complaints tied to ford explorer suvs, that includes 1.4 million vehicles sold between 2011 and this year. the agency received 2,700 complaints that exhaust odors in the suvs, leading to crashes and injuries. now, a shocking death on the high seas. a utah mother heading up the alaska post line. her husband behind bars. lucy kavanaugh is in anchorage. >> reporter: we're outside the fbi quarters here in anchorage. the fbi is taking the lead in this murder investigation. its first appearance in court before a federal judge. kenneth manzanares, a father of three, and now a murder suspect,

appeared to be crying. what should have been a spectacular family vacation, turned into horror on the high seas. the victim, kristy manzanares, killed in her cabin on "the emerald princess." her husband facing murder charges, following what authorities said was a domestic despite. >> mr. manzanares, murder in a special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the united states. >> reporter: witnesses said they heard the couple arguing in their cabin. according to the fbi report, when security entered the room, manzanares had blood on his hands and clothing. his wife, dead from a head wound. a witness said manzanares said, she would not stop laughing at me. the witness grabbed the ankles of kristy's body and pulled her

into the cabin. the utah couple was with family members on the cruise. >> very friendly family. this is a total shock. we couldn't believe it occurred until the news came out in pieces. we kept thinking, how can this be? there must be some mistake. >> reporter: "the emerald pri n princess went for a seven-day cruise. they went straight to juneau, where the fbi made an arrest. the cruise line made a statement. saying our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those impacted by this tragic event. when manzanares was arrested, he told an fbi agent, quote, my life is over. he did not enter a plea yesterday. but he will be back before a judge on august 10th for a preliminary hearing. as for that ship, the cruise continues. but understandably, the passengers and the crew are shaken by this horrifying

episode. >> lucy, thanks so much. now, to concerned over the safety of amusement park rides in the wake of that terrible malfunction at the ohio state fair this week. with fair season upon us, gabe gutierrez is taking a closer look at what all families need to know. >> reporter: chaos at the carnival, after this deadly malfunction at the ohio state fair, new scrutiny at ride safety across the country. that ride passed all inspections this week, even on the day of the accident. >> anytime you go to an amusement park, there's an element of risk attached to it. >> reporter: more than 30,000 amusement park injuries were treated in 2017. last summer, a boy died at a water park in kansas. and a basket plunged in tennessee. >> we had a major incident at the ferris wheel. there's been three fall out.

>> reporter: there's no federal regulations for amusement rides. and specifics vary widely across the country. 20 states, including ohio, have government inspection programs. eight states lead it to the private sector. 12 states have minimal inspections. and some have no inspections. this carnival has three daily inspections. >> i can't answer to what happens in ohio. we do everything we can do to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen. >> reporter: so, what can you do to help keep kids safe? always pay attention to posted warnings signs. wear closed-toed walking shoes. and many states allow you the look up inspections online. how important is safety to you as your kids -- >> it's extremely important to
