visitors are hoping to get a boost for the second half of the summer. people are wondering how long this weather will last. andrea, it's looking beautiful out there. >> oh, denise, what a difference a day makes. yesterday some of these shore towns received record rainfall, and that means far fewer beach days that some businesses rely on. the food court has been a staple on the boardwalk for 25 years, but this summer the owners expect a 25% decrease in sales. they believe it's not just the rain but the humidity that's kept a lot of the crowds away this summer. >> every weekend it seems like there's a storm on the way, so people don't even bother coming because they're like, what for? it's going to rain all the time, so what can you do? >> reporter: the good news here is that there is another month to go, and anna is hoping -- she

says she is crossing her fingers and hoping to make up the difference in august. reporting live from ocean city, andrea clay thomas, nbc 10 news. let's go to erika martin for the weather. this weather going to stick around? >> it's going to stick around. atlantic city for the month of july accumulated 10 inches of rain in total, which is about 6.5 inches higher than average. so, denise, talk about the nice weather, the nice stretch for the next couple days. we're seeing sunny skies right now and current temperatures are really comfortable in philadelphia, 82 degrees, but it's a little gusty right now, 23 miles per hour. your out the door forecast, we're seeing mostly clear to clear skies in the afternoon hours into tomorrow, so take full advantage of the fact that you have plenty of sunshine to k kick off the following work week. however, i am tracking a heat

wave, so coming up in just a bit, we'll talk about that. back to you. >> i'm a diehard eagles fan. >> fans were flying high with excitement at training camp today. it was the first open practice for fans, and what a day it was for the occasion. thousands of fans passed the link getting their first glimpse at qb carson wentz and al jeffrey. we were also in the stands feeling the excitement. >> reporter: it's a kickoff to the season with no score but lots of hope and lots and lots of green. on the field, stars and new faces under the close watch of eagles fans. this chance to see them up close today bringing out generations of fans like the tompkins family. what did you teach them at home? >> hate koutouvidthe cowboys, l eagles.

game. the first game is on august 10 in green bay. you can catch every pre-season game right here on nbc 10, your official eagles station. new information just in to the newsroom. haverford township police say about 45 minutes before a deadly shooting in delaware county, the same suspected shooter was shooting at people in overbrook park. no one there was hurt. now, take a good look. this is the guy police are searching for. they say he shot and killed another man yesterday around this time in haverford township. witnesses told police they saw a man in a red hoodie running toward wynwood road in ardmore. right now coast guard crews are searching for a missing swimmer between point pleasant and seaside. the coast guard says the woman went missing around 2:30 this morning while she was swimming with a friend. the national weather service issued an alert today for dangerous rip currents. fire investigators are looking for the cause of this fire in brewery town.

a jamaican restaurant and two apartments on west jgirard avene was destroyed. they will determine when the restaurant can reopen. two air force bombers over the korean peninsula yesterday. this was in response to a missile test from north korea. after the flyover they returned to anderson air force base in guam. they say the kind of missiles launched on friday could potentially hit los angeles or chicago. tomorrow an official changing of the guard comes to the white house as john kelly begins his new position as chief of staff. john kelly died dined with pres trump in d.c. the retired four-star marine general's biggest management challenge may be the president's impulsive streak. kelly's mission is said to be

a coast guard swimmer rescued each of the 15-year-old boys one at a time. no one was hurt. the 400 was junior's last time at the tricky triangle. hearn hart will retire at the end of the season. his chances were good going into that race. 200 people rode their bikes at the 30th annual tour d shore. it raises money for local police officers and firefighters. we made our journey this year. that ride raised more than a million dollars. closing for good.

it is the end of an era tomorrow for three jc penney stores. the penneys at the philadelphia mills, king of prussia and willow grove park mall is open for one more day tomorrow. the company is trying to save money by downsizing. tomorrow con rail will bring in equipment for a stretch known as kensington. the area is littered with thousands of needles from people addicted to heroin.

social services will be available and offer food, housing and drug help for people in the area. this could impact your commute this week. if you take nj transit rail line, service is suspended for two weeks between philadelphia and cherry hill for repairs. this is why. on friday a truck slammed into a rail bridge near the pensocken transit center. crews will spend the next two weeks repairing that bridge. and westchester county will do bridge construction on university road. university road will be closed between penn's pike and groves road. nbc 10 at the 12th annual car show and street festival. from classic to modern muscle, the show had something for everyone.

it will change the way you experience tv. hey, hey, csn with you once again. two open practices during training camp. this was scheduled to happen yesterday but was rescheduled due to weather. it certainly didn't discourage fans to come out today. a beautiful day at that. easily approximately 23,000 showed up for the event. that broke attendance figures from the two open practices last season. it was also military appreciation day. of course, one of the main attractions carson wentz throwing not only footballs around but his john hancock as well. spectacular not only for those in attendance but for the players, too. >> just the energy alone without there being a game, seeing our support, seeing how much the fans love us has been awesome. >> it was awesome. very welcoming and i was excited to be in front of fans for the first time, again, it's a cool
